Wow - pretty regular. How exciting!

Here's what I'm worried about. No big deal really.

ellideb · 16/09/2008 03:26

mmm. I think back to bed is a good idea. Might go myself but just don't want to be tossing and turning with these pains. I can handle them better when I walk about. I might take a couple of paracetamol. I wish I knew whether this is labour/early labour/Braxton Hicks!!

ninja · 16/09/2008 03:26

Hope you get back to sleep foxy

ninja · 16/09/2008 03:31

paracetamol good - nd you need to try and get some sleep just in case x x

ellideb · 16/09/2008 03:35

Your poor girl, I can understand how you are feeling and if she were mine I think a private chat with her teacher could do no harm. What does your DD say to you about the situation? Is she happy at school generally? It is the beginning of the year so routines and friendships need to be established. I'd imagine things will settle down in a few weeks and after your chat with her teacher.

Would you say they are regular then? Do you think this is early labour/BH?

Ninja if your DD's teacher is nice, I would just mention to her how your DD is feeling. I'm sure she's just oblivious to the problem rather than being deliberately mean - it must be so easy to just ignore a child who is getting on with their work, and focus all your attention on those who aren't as easy.

ellideb hope you are now in fully fledged labour - it was sounding good judging by your contraction timer last night! Biglips hope things have got more regular for you too. Although I will start to get lonely if people start abandoning me on the overdue front!

Feeling a bit less blue about being overdue, as my induction is a week today, so feel like if all else fails, at least I'm really on the countdown to that now. Am contemplating breaking out the breast pump later and trying to start something though. Mostly because I'm intrigued about the pump rather than because I expect something to happen!

plusonemore · 16/09/2008 08:07

ninja I'm a primary school teacher and I always make a point of saying to parents to come to me with anything, no matter how small it would be. SUre your DDs teacher will be glad to know, say it exactly like you did in the post. Although, I wouldnt necessarily expect the tables to be moved but you may find in chatting to her that they only spend some of their time in those groupings and often they are allowed to choose where to sit. I used to have different groupings depending on whether they were doing reading, numeracy, etc and also give them time to choose to be with friends. If she says she is doind well then I'm sure she is but the teacher will be glad to be aware that your dd doesnt see it this way!! hth xxx

mamamufin · 16/09/2008 08:21

Morning all
Gosh alot of you were awake late last night, you must be shattered. Fingers crossed for you elli and biglips. I am pleased to report I had 10 hours sleep last night so back ontop. However, the pesky cough remains so off to the chemist later.
Congratulations notcitrus I loved your birth story. Enjoy your baby.
Congratulations to anyone Ive missed also.
Well the full mooon did nothing this end. No Bh or anything really. However, as I was nearly 2 weeks overdue last time I am thinking I just need to cook my babies a little extra. I have a sweep booked for friday but I am wondering whether to refuse. I had 3 last time and they did not work and where just very uncomfortable.
Anyway off to aqua natal again today. Its more for the social outing and lasagne after than the excercise though. Have a nice day girls. Will be back later on xx

ninja · 16/09/2008 08:22

Thanks for the DD advice - I think I need to have a chat when DD isn't there. She goes to art club after school so might get a chance there. Her teacher does seem really nice. I just really feel for DD which may just be my hormones!

I wonder if we'll hear from ellideb and biglips today?

biglips · 16/09/2008 09:00

morning all!

im still here...just!

i went to bed in the end last night as was soooo uncomfortable and wanted to read my book to get my mind off the ppppaaaiiinn! i couldnt get to sleep till 2am! as the pain was keeping me awake.

it seems i dont really get the pain in teh mornings but Monday i was just having them at night then yesterday it was all afternoon and night.

ill let u know how i get on with the contraction timer as soon i start getting them again

Congrats to NC....

MunkiMom · 16/09/2008 09:16

Good morning, all!
sounds like all the full moon brought to us all was insomnia and irregular contractions!!
ahhh, phooey!

on this end, i've not even had a twinge. well, i take that back, one thing i have noticed over the last 2 days is my way-up-inner-thigh area. seems to be very sore/tender as though i've used a thigh machine incorrectly at the gym! ((and this girl has moved very little so definitely not a gym issue ))
anyone else has a sore/tender inner thigh issue? is this normal? could it be something to do with my pelvic bone shifting , getting ready, etc?

((i'm clueless about these signals, really))

potxola · 16/09/2008 10:51

Mamamuffin Glad you managed to sleep. Thinking of you.
I don't know how you manage to be so active, going to aqua natal.
Lots of hugs

Kagey · 16/09/2008 10:54

Morning all,

Congratulations on all the new arrivals since I last posted - wow everyone has been busy and fingers crossed for nice and easy labours for all others!!

I'm just quickly checking in; I'm now 10 days overdue with no sign of little KG making an appearance. I had a rather unpleasant sweep yesterday and still nothing!

I've have gone through the list of trying to speed things up (except castor as quite frankly euuugghhhh!) and am now resigned to being induced on Friday (if they can fit me in) when I will be 13 days overdue - gah!!

Anyway filling my days with lots of mundane things but still not taking my mind off things.

Anyway hope to post at the weekend with more positive news!

Take care,
Kx

cranmorefifi · 16/09/2008 10:55

I am soooo over being pregnant now and still have 2 days to go. Hoping my midwife will do a sweep for me today as my dad goes to Turkey for a month on friday and I'd really like the babe to be out before he goes.

Have already made beef and chestnut pie for lunch. Yummy. Off to try lollipopmother's yummy cookies "chocolate chip cookies www.mumsnet.com/Talk/2290/599883?pg=40" in a second.

Very jealous of aquanatal and lasagne - dd only at school fr a few hours a week at the mo so no chance I can get away

hopefully · 16/09/2008 11:05

Poor you Kagey. I'm counting down the days to induction now (7 days overdue, induction next tue), as I really don't feel that my body is going to manage going into labour by itself - have absolutely no twinges or anything.

Munki I seem to recall a similar thigh pain, although it's merged into the slightly higher pelvic pain now. Remember not to take big strides or do the splits!

Had a weird thing just now, got a real blood sugar (I think) slump. Hadn't eaten since 7am, and suddenly got really really shaky and dizzy. Wolfed down a bowl of sugar puffs (it's all about the balanced diet in this household) and it's gone now. Assume I don't need to bother the midwife with such a thing?

Just spoke to my mum, who's been speaking to a family member who is a bit less pregnant than me. She's really suffering with sciatica, shuffling round and feeling crap. Problem she has is that she's a minor celeb, so she can't even leave the house without being snapped and hassled by paparazzi, which combined with feeling rubbish is not improving the closing weeks of her pregnancy. Makes me feel quite grateful to be a nobody!

Thanks Leonie. Baby now throwing itself around in a state of sugar-high!

ninja · 16/09/2008 11:47

MunkiMom that's exactly how I thought like it felt - as if I'd overdone it on one of those torture weights machines for thighs at the gym. It all means it's going in the right direction.

Well had an AN appointment today and I've been signed off the hospital and back into the community. My blood results for platelets vary wildly but all the last 3 have been in the normal range so it seems I just have wierd blood! Iron low again so on double dose - I don't care as long as they let me have it at home.

And I'm 3/5 palpable - so all going in the right direction!

Must try and get more sleep though.

*LeonieD - sorry you are upset....at least it will all be over next week for you.

*NC - Congratulations on the birth of Adam x

*Hopefully - I had this on sunday morning - went really dizzy and odd bt hadnt had any tea the night before and only hob nobs for breakfast (I know, I know!!!) Ate loads of sunday lunch and it didnt happen again so I am assuming its low blood sugar too. Baby moving lots as usual anyway.

*cranmorefifi - I have a midwife appointment on my due date (thursday). I was wondering whether she would do a sweep or not too....I suppose it depends on whether your cervix is "ripe" or not????

*biglips - I feel for you. I have been like this every night for weeks At the hospital they told me I could take co-codamol if the pains were really uncomfy and keeping me awake.

The phone calls/texts/e-mails have started! People are getting very impatient for this baby to arrive!

I am going to tell the next person who asks to feck off

ninja · 16/09/2008 12:36

Hi LeonieD that registrar sounds like a barrel of laughs!

There are a couple of really inspiring stories on here about VBAC if you want to think about it being possible.

here's one

this one makes me cry

But if that doesn't work out there are some amazing planned CS stories as well on this thread and I think if you know it's going to be a CS you can really get yourself prepared and feel in control.

I hope that you're feeling better soon {{hugs}}

hopefully · 16/09/2008 12:40

Sorry for your situation LeonieD. I guess if it's absolutely set that you're having the CS, at least you can start to make peace with it, and concentrate on getting the best CS experience you can - read some of the positive CS stories, and plan everything you can keep control of (music etc).

Ninja glad your platelets have normalised, even if they are still a little erratic! Must be so nice to be back on track for things.

Becaroo I have stopped replying to texts, having reassured the people involved that I will inform them when there is finally some news. Still answering the phone to my mother, but that's about it!

carrieon · 16/09/2008 13:18

Really feeling for those of you with regular BH/mild contractions. That's how my last labour started - three days of that. Except of course being a naive little bunny I thought it was the real thing and waddled off to hospital after 2 days of it and was very upset to be told I wasn't even remotely in labour! So well done you lot for being far more realistic about it!
I couldn't sleep last night at all either, partly the restless legs and indigestion, but also my totally blocked up sinuses. As soon as I lie down I can feel them filling up with snot. I was coughing my lungs up and totally unable to breathe through my nose, so my mouth was dry, I was drinking lots of water and then going to the loo lots. In the morning its like blowing concrete out of my nose (sorry if tmi!!). Really fed up of non-pregnancy related illness!
I've got that sugar crash thing right now. I'm cooking myself a big lunch of pie, mash, veg and gravy so I know I'll be fixed soon. This is just what I found early pregnancy like - couldn't eat enough! Hopefully this means the end is in sight
Thinking of you all and hoping for more happy birth stories, I just love reading them!
