imoscarsmum OOooO!!! i saw it on bbc wales news yesterday! i
couldn't believe it!! What a sad sad situation, if it turns out the have been
organised by her partner, eh?!?

star thanks for mentioning the need for slow release foods for the early stage. otherwise i would've been cheeky and taken advantage of having yet another excuse to eat my way thru labour with rubbish foods! i do have a few slow release fav's. so again, ty.

i've made an appt for the 39th week on the request of the doctor i spoke with yesterday. feels 4 weeks might be a little long to go without being seen once more. even though it will be a quickie mw appt wth all the usual checks, i think i will definitely attend....just in case.

((that being said, i guess it really depends on if i 'burst' any sooner than that, eh?!?!))

biglips · 27/08/2008 15:07

Afternoon all!!

ive just crawled back home after been to the soft play area, park and shopping.....now got a bad ligament pain on my tummy as i was walking slightly abit too quick!..

Barnpot - my baby is breech oblique atm so going in the hosp to have it turned at 38 weeks. So fingers cross for you and fingers cross for me

ive been getting BH's for a while now even though my baby is not engaged either way.

my eyes are cooking atm!!

mellebella yes ive heard about the popping noise when the baby kicks as its all part of the norm.

in my snack bag is - raisins & nuts mixtures and also liquorice sticks....will be needing mars bars and summat else.....cant think!!

happymumathome · 27/08/2008 15:21

Hi Ladies,
can i join the fun please?
I am due DC4 on Sept 25th, although all the others have arrived at 38 weeks I am not counting my chickens just yet!
I have 3DS so it will be a real shock if this is a pink one
Am planning a home birth, have a pool so might use that if it feels good.
Could someone add me to the countdown as I have no clue how to do that, Ta

plusonemore · 27/08/2008 16:21

barnpot my MW said they like to try to turn the baby at 36 wks which seemed really realy to me, 38 sounds a bit better! luckily mine seemed to have turned so am now bouncing furiously on ball to try to get the head to stay down! Also biglips i was also getting loads of BH when baby was breech which MW said was bodys way of trying to turn baby and get get doen on all 4s when it happened to try to help things along! funnily enough now baby has turned i am having much less BH...
Food wise, at hospital i ate loads of branston pickle mini cheddars but cant seem to find anywhere that sells them anymore After birth i had really been missing pate so dh bought some really lovely stuff after as treat but i couldnt stomach it and havent really eaten any since!

eandz · 27/08/2008 16:22

hi everyone!

my groin is vibrating...anyone else with this sensation?

plusonemore · 27/08/2008 16:28

and to get down not and get get doen!!

eandz · 27/08/2008 16:45

imoscarsmum oh, i'm taking along a picnic hamper (smallish, but has compartments for everything)

slinkie i do like carluccio's. but i'm still thinking about taking back up just in case i go into labor during non business hours. (that would suck!) or get that craving for texan food...(do you get cravings for hard to find foods during labor?) i haven't really had any crazy cravings except for mexican and then i jetted to wahaca for a bite. but what will i be like on the day?!

mellabella · 27/08/2008 17:07

eandz you're from Texas if I remember correctly.... do you not absolutely miss the hot, spicy, real-life, mexican food? I haven't been able to find anything here to really satisfy my mexican cravings Any suggestions??

ninja · 27/08/2008 17:11

mellebella yes I get the popping

Welcome happymumathome I'm due the day before you although I only made it to 39 weeks last time, I've also opted for a homebirth and have a pool (which I haven't opened yet)

I'll try and add you to the list!

slinkiemalinki · 27/08/2008 17:12

Very wise. I suppose I don't really get it as once labour kicked in, the last thing I wanted to do was eat.
The hospital also said to bring warm socks, as feet get cold in labour. I was sweltering and kept getting my husband to spray me with chilled evian spray.
It would have been a nice touch for the hospital to provide but I am counting on bringing my own!

nellyonthetelly · 27/08/2008 17:16

I really didn't feel like eating a thing once I was in labour, as soon as she was born had a couple of pieces of chocolate which I threw up all over the midwives! Even a couple days later, as I was still in hospital my Mum arrived with a choc trifle - sick again - maybe the sickness was cos I had diamorphine? Anyway was well annoyed not to have made the most of the Whole Foods store round the corner (it wasn't whole foods at the time but similar and was one of the main reasons I chose Elizabeth Garrett Anderson Hospital). The hospital breakfasts were hideous, ward lights came on at 5am(!) then about 7, a load of cold toast was dumped on a table at the end of the ward along with mingy looking boxes of Alpen and All Bran. Self sevice, but only one knief in the butter. God I hope I get my homebirth...

eandz · 27/08/2008 17:19

mellabella,
the closest i've come has been wahaca in covent garden and wrap it up (burrito place near liverpool st) ...but they aren't close to anything like a taco bell, mexican cantina or a tex mex joint on the west coast. it's ok though, i just add tabasco sauce to everything. and when people come over from the states they bring me giant bags filled with taco bell hot sauce. so thats how i'm keeping my cravings under control.

if you want some hot sauce i can send some over to you. all my relatives who are coming over are bringing a couple bags worth each.

EANDZ....YES i have the wierd groin thing!!! what is it!?! sometimes its like its vibrating and other times i feel like it is kind of beating????? have you been able to find out why it happens

eandz · 27/08/2008 17:32

notsoslimnow
no idea what it is. i feel a little bit awkward about asking, but i'm having dinner with some pregos tonight so i'll ask them if they know.

if not, i'll just call a midwife/my doctor tomorrow

notsoslimnow · 27/08/2008 17:36

ummm, i havent mentioned it either as its a bit tricky to explain.HOWEVER last night i started having terrible thoughts that maybe its the placenta sitting too low and i can feel the activity inside it?

eandz · 27/08/2008 17:38

oh, i was freaking out and thinking the baby was having a seizure or something. i think i'll google it now...but what do i search for really?

notsoslimnow · 27/08/2008 17:43

well ive typed in stuff like vibrating in groin and pulsating sensation in groin.....i would not advise phrasing it like this!!!! but really thats why i didnt look any more as i just couldnt think how to explain???

plusonemore · 27/08/2008 17:48

you too are funny... i sometimes get a really quick pulsing but its at the top of my belly, like a fluttering- is it anything like that? just thought it was baby exercising!

becaroo · 27/08/2008 17:49

enadz and notsoslimnow I have been getting a beating sensation quite regularly - mostly when lying down at night - I had thought it was the baby hiccupping but actually I have no idea what the hells going on in there!

This baby is so active, its amazing! Its NEVER seems to stop still! (Makes eating and sleeping a bit tricky though)

Hope you are all well x

mellabella · 27/08/2008 17:56

enadz lol that is absolutely brilliant that people bring over taco sauce for you! Might have to ask the fam to send over some in a care package or something. I'm up in Nottingham and there's one place that does mexican food-but it tastes more spanish than mexican.

i have that sensation as well, i always just think it's my pulse

notsoslimnow · 27/08/2008 17:56

hi plusonemore, i can only describe it as a vibrating and sometimes more pulsating sensation but not in tummy more like cervix or somewhere like that! oh goodness im so pleased this is annonymous!!!! problem is im now thinking it could be the placenta coveing baby's exit!!! although i have been know to be a little ott with these things!( i have only just finished crying at the fact i still dont know how to make a bottle up for baby)i may take 5 mins now to contemplate the reasons i fought for my homebirth and then immediately afterwards remind myself ill never be able to give birth it will hurt too much and ill have to go to hospital crying and having failed in my convictions!!!!!!!!! wow, im such a ray of sunshine arent i?!
