eandz · 01/09/2008 09:29

btw. is it ok to have a fever this late in my pregnancy? this fever is different to my stills fevers (it's not going away) whereas my stills fevers go away after about an hour.

Wow - two new arrivals! Congratulations to Digitalgirl and Debithescot. How funny to think they will be in different school years! DG how did you manage to post from the hospital? Do they have a computer there? Or do you have some clever Blackberry-like device?

I'll update the list in a minute.

MummyToOneForNow · 01/09/2008 10:38

Congratulations Debi and Digital on your boys! Should start coming thick and fast now...

jearund · 01/09/2008 10:39

Oh and eandz given that they've already told you you've got an infection isn't that likely to be the cause of the fever? If you are worried why not call NHS Direct or your doctor? Better safe than sorry.

potxola · 01/09/2008 10:40

Digital I can't believe how early you are! You were due after me even before I queue-jumped by booking a CS! Wonderful news though and a nice healthy weight.

Debithescot he's not so wee! Bet that feels better!

hopefully · 01/09/2008 10:48

Congrats DG and Debi! V of early arrivals, even though I've long resigned myself to the fact that I'm going to be late - seems to run in both sides of the family...

It's just taken me about an hour to catch up on posts since saturday - we are all saying far too much as we impatiently await our arrivals!

jearund · 01/09/2008 10:48

potxola · 01/09/2008 11:01

Jearund The Arnica I took it the night before and then just before the surgery.4 times a day and it really helped. Just dissolve it under the tongue. It takes ages. Re. Dummies. The only ones she is taking are the mums Avent are too big for newborn.
Lorea is with me in the Close baby carrier while I write this.
After the surgery if you have asked for skin to skin contact they take you to a private room , you take the gown they given you off and put the baby on your chest, He will start breastfeeding straight away, you will see.
My dh is laughing about the Potxola choice of nickname. (Pochola)

The MW came yesterday and she has dropped a bit more than 10% of her weight in 3 days.It is because she could not feed well after her first feed because she had taken in too much funny substances from my pain killers for too long. Anyway another Mw will come home now and if she has not put on any weight we wll have to go to the neonatal unit today and stay there.Whatevet it takes, at least they will help her there.
She has been feeding a lot and I can already see how fantastic is for her to be in this carrier. She has problems sleeping in the crib because of the wind, so it is great she is sleeping now. It might be colic, but it is too early to tell. It is awful to see her screaming like that and there is nothing I can do. The dummy helps her relax, otherwise she panics when the wind hurts her tummy.( i know what it feels like. that happened to me at the hospital) By the way if that happens, ask the MW for pepermint water. It does help ....if they come when you call them
The Mw agreed with me about the dummy. It is either that or hear her scream in pain.

Lots of luck girls.
I am going to feed her now. I am leaking....

biglips · 01/09/2008 11:03

another HOORAY!!!..... to Debi and welcome to Andrew

Pitufina · 01/09/2008 11:06

ellideb · 01/09/2008 11:20

HUGE congratulations to Digitalgirl and Debithescot and to your gorgeous little bundles!

milkbeard · 01/09/2008 11:21

just caught up with posts, congrats debi, not so wee though

jearund · 01/09/2008 11:24

potxola (which I can now pronounce properly - I had thought the x was like a Spanish J) - thanks for answering my questions. So with the skin to skin are you lying down on your back and he manages to latch on just lying on top of you? It's hard to imagine because your breasts are flatter when you lie on your back!

Thanks for the tip about the dummies - if we need them I'll send DH out for MAM newborn. We have a Sainsbury just near the house so it should be easy enough for him to get them.

Worrying about the effect of the painkillers. I don't remember having any problems with DD after my emergency CS. I had every painkiller going! When it hurts that much I think you just have to. So I guess there's not a lot you can do about it. . At least she is feeding now though. Glad the carrier is working out. I've never tried a sling. We have a Babybjorn but you can't sit down with it on so I don't think they are very practical for round the house.

Nearly DD's (and my!) nap time. DH is asleep after a night shift. I've been really lazy this morning and put kids tv on for her and it seems to be keeping her entertained while I sit here with my feet up! . Oh well, I don't do it very often (so far!)

milkbeard · 01/09/2008 11:29

potxola hope things go ok with weighing today, sorry to hear she's having wind pain. x
