good luck everyone. Have been getting quite strong bh's now for the last 5 days. every night I go to bed thinking this is it. and every morning wake up disappointed. am starting to accept that he's not going to come until at least my due date (18th Sept).

congrats on the new babies. very jealous. Now that we're safely into a new school year I just want mine OUT!

jearund · 31/08/2008 22:07

lollipopmother we've got a Babybjorn and my DH had no problems with it. I don't know what his neck size is but he is not the thinnest of men! . I'm not sleeping either btw. I'm hoping tonight will be a bit cooler as we've had at least 2 downpours during the day.

milkbeard my MIL is coming down before the birth to look after DD but having said that she's about to start her second nursery session as they finally have room for her on a Tuesday morning. We are hoping to drop her off on the way to the c-section and we've asked if they can take her all day - we'll know tomorrow (they are hugely oversubscribed so I'm not holding my breath). Otherwise my parents will pick her up and take her back home to MIL (who can't drive). It would help if we had an idea whereabouts in the queue I'll be for the CS but at least we do know the date (assuming I'm not bumped).

Just read the rest of your post - I can't believe your MIL told you to get in an ambulance on your own, what a cow! . It sounds like you've got some good friends though, I would call on them. Would your parents be prepared to come down and take over from your friends (4 hours isn't that far)? That's pretty much what we would do if I went into labour early as my in-laws are miles away in Scotland. My parents are great but nearly 80 and couldn't cope with looking after DD for 3 days while I'm in hospital - they love her to bits but a few hours is enough as she is very active!

jenpet Sam is very sweet and looks nice and healthy!

Debithescot sounds like waters breaking to me.......and you're about due!

meglet · 31/08/2008 22:13

deb mummytoknow and slinki I think I'm probably the only one who wanted DD to be born before midnight tonight! It would mean she was only one academic year apart from DS, and would make school runs easier when they are older . But, nothing has happed so it seems she will be the oldest in her year instead.

deb assuming something is really happening now I hope it all runs smoothly for you .

I have had 3 naps today , which is totally unlike me, I had planned to go to the gym but that went out the window. My hips are hurting too so I assume it's just the weight of the baby and my pelvis loosening up a bit. I hope I feel perkier tomorrow, at least its only 4 days to go.

DebitheScot · 31/08/2008 22:25

still nothing new to report so off to bed (with the pampers bed mats under the sheet).
If anything does happen my best friend will let you know. She's called Clayre on here (I think she spells it like that)

lollipopmother · 31/08/2008 22:31

Oh my God Meglet, how on earth do you want to go to the gym? I don't think there's anything I have thought of less than going to the gym these last 9 months!!

Thanks to everyone who has said about men and Baby Bjorn slings. I like the link to the slings ninja but DP has veto'd them! He wants the most expensive sling I've seen so far 99 quid worth of Baby Bjorn - and in white! WHITE ffs! But anyway, i'm giggling because it's totally up to him (and I refuse to stick my oar in!) and I'm just happy he wants to carry our baby round and be such a hands on dad! But white ffs! And £99!! Give me strength, haha!

Debi - Ohh I hope you're in labour, how exciting! My EDD is the day after yours, so maybe I will be next!

I am now going to go to bed, absolutely as pointless as it is, I should at least try! Night night ladies, and fingers crossed to anyone with contractions/waters breaking overnight! xx

MunkiMom · 31/08/2008 22:56

debi
i've so hoped for septemeber to arrive without going into early labour!
only for the reasons of school year/age, etc. same as you. so i totally understand you hoping to hold out (if it is starting now) til
after midnite. ds1, fynn, is a sept baby so was hoping for this one to be 2 years apart in school as well as age. (a certain bbc report sticks to mind about sept/october babies and statistics academically....which i'm sure you've all heard or read by now )) obviously, not saying babies of any other month are poor students, just to clarify!! i'd never think anything of the sort!

and on that note, i'm anxious to hop on to MN in the morning to hear about any night "gushes", deb!

slinkie
i had no idea that some shops still fitted you for bras, let alond nursing bras.
are you getting this done from a local shop or dept store or chain?

but so far, i'm so intrigued to hear how your "leak" ends!))

splishsplosh · 31/08/2008 23:02

Congratulations Potxola, I'm glad to hear you're home again and that things are better now you're out of hospital.

Goodluck Debi if it's beginning for you

Who was it who had the funny feelings really low down? I was reading something that said when the baby drops, before the head is engaged, it can sort of bounce on the cervix and give you "shocks" - maybe that's it?

Tmi alert: found some discharge this evening that was sort of jelly like - a bit like snot tbh... could that be the mucus plug??? It wasn't red or anything. If it was I hope that it idn't a sign of things happening - I'm sleeping on a blow up mattress on the landing still, most of the rooms are filled with furniture or our possessions in boxes and bags, and the electrician has gone on holiday for a week with our re-wiring still half done. Not the ideal environment for a baby!

I had my first mw appointment on Friday with this group of mws, called the Ruskin group - when you go into labour you call them and 1 of them (out of a group of 6) comes in to hospital to be with you. It's a bit late to get to meet them all, but it sounds like the way mw should work so you get someone you've met at the birth.

I'm still coughing away, and it's making me vomit in the mornings each day . I'm a bit worried cos the friend I was staying with a few weeks back says she might have whooping cough. So I hope I don't have that too, as presumably that would be dangerous to newborn. Anyone know anything about it?

jearund · 31/08/2008 23:03

Munkimum Mothercare will fit you for nursing bras.

I really should be in bed. Very naughty!!!

kel78 · 31/08/2008 23:14

Hi all, so pleased for you potxola on ur speedy recovery and your beutifull daughter lorea.

I have been in hospital today as I have had 3 small gushes of fluid over last two days. After loads of checks they have said that my back waters are not broke but they think I have an infection and have taken swabs.

Just got home and was looking through my notes and the mw has put ROA Free, does anyone know what that means. think it is something to do with position of baby, not sure though.

I have consultant on weds and will prob be booked for c section for 8th like they planned before as no spontaneous labour happening so will prob take the c section foll prev 2 sects to be safe.

Deb- I hope all is ok for you and if it is all starting now then good luck. Cant wait to read more birth announcments.

jearund · 31/08/2008 23:16

Splishsplosh I remember my "show" last time and it was indeed jelly-like - although mine was tinged with red. Let's hope you don't go into labour for a bit as it doesn't sound as if your house is ready for it! Don't like the sound of the cough. Making you vomit every morning? Nasty! I'd go and see the doctor if I were you and get it checked out. I had whooping cough as a child, don't really remember it but my mum had it at the same time and she says it was really horrid.

lollipopmother · 01/09/2008 02:25

Well, I knew it'd be useless going to bed! I've had a doze but enough is enough, I'm up and I've set the ironing board up!

Kel - ROA means the baby is lying on the mother?s right, the back of his head is coming first and his back is turned towards the front of your bump.

Munkimum - I have heard that Mothercare are rubbish at bra fittings, and that the best place to go is Bravisimo, even if you don't want to actually splash out on one of their bras.

clayre · 01/09/2008 07:52

quick update on debithescot she headed for the hospital at about 3am, she was having contractions 6-8 mins apart, will let you know more the minute her dh phones.

cranmorefifi · 01/09/2008 08:16

wohoo. good luck debbiethescot!

MunkiMom · 01/09/2008 08:41

good morning gals.
hope everyone is off to a good start this monday.
and speaking of good start.....

wow! debithescot!!! good luck!!
how funny that all she requested was to get into september
for the birthdate. i guess sometimes if we just ask, we shall receive?!?!
now, hmmmm, about the next lottery...hehehe

lolli and jea
thanks for the bra fitting info.
((i highly doubt there's a bravisimo in my neck of the woods
so it may very well have to be a mothercare. i bought a couple
a few weeks ago from MC and my guesstimation was waaay off.

digitalgirl · 01/09/2008 08:50

hi ladies, well could never have imagined this but my waters broke yesterday morning at 2am and by 5:30pm after 13 hours of first stage labour and 2 hours of pushing our baby boy was born. a healthy 7lbs at only 36+5. Can't believe I made it without an epidural. I'm in hospital waiting for the paediatrician to give him the all clear then we're off home. I'm exhausted but utterly in love with my perfect liitle son.

MunkiMom · 01/09/2008 08:53

woooo! CONGRATS to you as well, digi!!!!
i bet that certainly came as a shock!! awww, so pleased you have your little one now!

MummyToOneForNow · 01/09/2008 08:55

Good luck to Debi!!! Glad you made it into Sept.

Knowing my luck I'll still be here in October (dd kept me waiting until 40+11) but I am going to start all the labour inducing/speeding up things today - bring on the pineapple and RLT!

eandz · 01/09/2008 08:57

digitalgirl
congratulations! i'm really very happy for you and excited for your dp and brand new little boy

MelT76 · 01/09/2008 09:00

Congrats Digital. The only thing you didn't tell us was your little boys name!

Hope things are going well for Debi too

mamamufin · 01/09/2008 09:03

Oh my gosh

My belly skin is staring to stretch and the stretch marks have started to appear . That will teach me being smug as I thought I d got away with it.

Back later, xx

MunkiMom · 01/09/2008 09:24
