Any news yet Loegaela?

I am logging on in anticipation before I try and wedge half a ton of washing in the machine........yeah, I'm getting round to the baby clothes .

DD2 went back to nursery today, so I hit the shops and bought myself some PJs from mothercare, totally NOT what I went out for but I was so unconfortable in bed last night in DH PJs that I decided I needed them!

I also got some Almond oil after hearing that it may help to prevent tears - had 2nd degree with both my other two, so don't really think it will do any good but it's got to be worth a try eh?

Must go - have a shed load of washing to do!! Oh and choc to eat!!

Hope you are all well. x

Pidge · 24/02/2005 12:09

Hmmmmm ... Leogaela is suspiciously quiet ... not to mention Shalaa .... and I think preggiemum was due for a CS the same day misdee had her baby. Not to mention Girly who is fully engaged and logically should be in labour!! So we could have a bumper crop already!

I just stirred my stumps and went for a swim, so am feeling virtuous and off to scoff an extra large lunch, followed by several choc chip cookies!

Dp is off work with a stinking cold. Woe betide if he gives it to me. Last time I got a humdinger of a cold bang on my due date and spent 3 days shivering in bed, so I'd kind of like to avoid that scenario this time round. Still, at least I have some company today - when he's not sleeping in bed or sneezing everywhere!

3mummy · 24/02/2005 17:35

Oooooh, looks like everyone's gone quiet! Are we all in labour?

Where can I get raspberry leaf tea? And what is the best form in which to take it? If there's anybody out there to answer?

Pidge - hope you don't get Dps cold! Keep up the choc chip cookie eating.... we need 200 extra calories a day these days!! I'm having creme eggs to get mine!

3mummy · 24/02/2005 17:36

Hmmm, now is that 200 for the baby AND 200 for me..........?

bonym · 24/02/2005 17:59

Ooh - I would say at least 200 for you and for the baby - well that's what I've been doing anyway!!
I have a vague recollection of taking raspberry leaf capsules with dd - thought they would be more palatable than the tea. I think I got them from a health food shop. Haven't tracked any down this time yet (well, haven't tried!) - might do that tomorrow...everything just seems like an effort these days!

popsycal · 24/02/2005 18:18

I am still here.......

Girly · 24/02/2005 18:59

Me too!!

Although I do have a date for induction if i want one, next wednesday cause being this engaged for so long is getting more and more difficult to cope with.

Have lost my sense of humour and scowl at anyone who even attempts to say' not here yet then' or whens that baby coming... you get the picture!

Hope everyone else is happy although suspect popsy is as grumpy as me!!!

Thought we could do with a fresh look. Have I left anyone on I shouldn't have? Sorry if I've missed anyone too .

Bonym - looks like it's you and me til the end of the month!!

Girly, Popsycal, Pidge - you are all due practically next week, really feel for you . I can't believe I've got 4 weeks to go, I feel so big and cumbersome, you must really be feeling it now. Girly - are you going to go for the induction? Never had to be induced, not sure how I feel about it - not sure if I would go for it voluntarily.....is it more painful?

Leogaela, still suspiciously quiet........I'm constantly checking the announcements forum! I can't believe how addictive this MN is, did I have a life, and what did I do with all my time before I found this place???

Off to a funeral in the morning.....leaving DH to do the school run (and breakfast - gotta be out early). So I shall check in tomorrow afternoon for any news (wishful thinking ).

I will probably spend much of tomorrow afternoon scanning Holland and Barret for raspberry leaf tea - it's not too early to take it is it?

Sorry it's a long'un

3mummy · 24/02/2005 20:38

OK phrases you hate for the typical question at this stage.....

"Haven't popped yet then?"

"Not dropped it yet?"

"Still waddlin'?"

KerryJ · 24/02/2005 20:53

3mummy - you've missed me - but I'll let you off, just this once!

I'm due a surprise on 27th - last on the thread!

Cheers, Kerry x

Nettee · 24/02/2005 21:25

hi - you missed me as well but I am very new. 27th Feb - suprise

I got my Rasberry leaf capsules from Holland and Barrett. Take 6 per day which seems like a lot. Hope they do the trick!

jambot · 25/02/2005 08:27

Saw the gynae yesterday. She feels I must wait until 39 weeks until we decide to induce or c/s due to the size of my baby. That's just over a week - suppose I can hang in until then - although don't know how much longer my poor body can manage. I'm so sore and swollen now that it's not funny any more. I'm actually worried my body won't be up to giving birth naturally, it's so buggered!

Cristina7 · 25/02/2005 10:03

Sorry to hear you're feeling so run down, Jambot. I hope you can have the kind of delivery you want but don't feel too disheartened if you need to change plans. I know I've changed plans over these past few weeks. I had more time to adjust to the idea and let it seep gradually into my mind and now I feel absolutely fine about it (elective c/s on Tuesday).

misdee · 25/02/2005 10:10

Hi girls.

has anyone heard anthing from legolalea and shalaa?

Serena has been fed and cleaned and is now sleeping with daddy, and i am sitting wating to meet the community midwife. I really want to just go out, but its freezing and i dont need to go anywhere really, but after 4 days in hospital i'm going a bit stir-crazy.

Hope everyone is fine and doing well.

bonym · 25/02/2005 11:00

Hi misdee - good to have you back with us - must be lovely for you all to be home together .
Girly, jambot and popsycal - not long now - it is hard though isn't it when you're almost, but now quite, there...
I'm not sure whether to get raspberyy leaf capsules this time round - I'm sure they did make my contractions more "efficient" last time but that also meant more painful and very fast (5.5 hrs for a 1st labour) - so am a bit worried that if I take them this time it will all be a bit too intense and quick for me to cope. Not that I want it to take ages of course....
Hope everyone else is ok - it's so exciting knowing that within 4-6 weeks or so we should all have given birth!

Nettee · 25/02/2005 11:39

Yes that is right, Sweeny - Feb 27th. so Sunday! Not expecting anything to happen that soon though - still feeling pretty comfortable. Bonym I think I would agree with you about the Rasberry leaf - sounds like it did a great job last time though so I will keep taking mine. I have just bought two whole pineapples - I am sure I will never be able to look at a pineapple again after this week.

thedame71 · 25/02/2005 13:43

Hi everyone!

Still here waiting, 10 days to due date. I am really fed up now! I have done all the nesting I can possibly do, baby is 2/5 engaged so extremely uncomfortable to walk, sit down for any length of time, and the days seem so long! Sorry to moan.

Good luck to you all x x x

Nettee · 25/02/2005 14:51

Hi everyone - saw the midwife this morning and the head is completely free today so I have booked in to see the consultant next week. Hoping that it might engage before then for my lovely home water birth but I think it is looking more like an induction or caesarean all the time. as long as we are both safe

N. xx

bonym · 25/02/2005 15:00

Nettee - having been pondering on the raspberry leaf question since my earlier post I have been out and bought some! Still not sure whether I should take them or not though . Am a bit torn as I know it's going to painful regardless of how long it takes, and likely to be fairly fast anyway, so maybe it's preferable to get it over as quick as possible?! Am sooo indecisive about everything at the moment! Saw the midwife and am 2/5ths engaged already - I asked her if this wasn't unusual for a 2nd pregnancy as I thought the head didn't generally engage until labour but she said it can bob in and out so I guess it doesn't really mean much! Just hoping baby doesn't decide to come too early - as long as I can make it to week 37 ( next Friday I can still have my home birth. Well hopefully - was a bit concerned as midwife told me that they are going to be short-staffed over the next month or two and have had a meeting to discuss it, the outcome being that there is a possibility they will try to stop any home births and make people go into hospital . However, she did say that I should be able to get round this by telling them (when I go into labour) that it's my 2nd baby and I was very quick last time. Fingers crossed as I really don't want to have to go to hospital if at all possible.
Sorry - long post!

Nettee · 25/02/2005 15:27

Bonym - hope you get your homebirth - staffing problems are a very frustrating reason not to. It sounds like you will have a quick labour whatever and who knows how much effect the raspberry leaf has.... Loads of choices for us to make at the moment - would be easier if someone just told us what to do.

sweeney · 25/02/2005 15:34

bonym That's dreadful! just have it at home whatever i say.......or get a doula in or something. but you surely must be entitled to a home birth if you want one. on the day they'd just have to get to you wouldn't they. please don't give up on the idea after all these months. no pressure!
and i can't be;iev that raspberry tea has all that much effect, i'd take it if i were you. s a first timer, what would you liken the feelings of contractions to at their most intense, just curious
congrats misdee, glad you still with us.
nettee, babies have their own rhythm surely, it isn't necessarily up to a doctor to tell you when the head should have engaged. give yourself time before having intervention.

bonym · 25/02/2005 17:08

Sweeney - I think I'm just going to refuse point blank to go to hospital if they quote staffing issues at me . Surely then they will have to send a midwife out! As to what contractions feel like at their most intense - well tbh I can't really remember precisely (it was almost 7yrs ago) apart from that they hurt like hell [grimace emoticon]. If you've ever had painful crampy upset stomach (when it's so bad you're sweating) it's like that but stronger.

ZoeC · 25/02/2005 20:01

Boneym - you're right about refusing to go in. There have been occasions of that happening before and they all get a midwife. Just a shame you have may have to do it is all. Have you checked the aims site - they have some good suggestions about how to stand your ground.

I'm getting the home birth kit dropped off Monday so I KNOW I'm close now! And I have bought some plastic sheets, seeing as they're my carpets I'll be bleeding over!

Hope some of you really fed up people start giving birth soon! Personally I'm not in a rush, but I don't know that I want to 'do' labour just yet!
