chocgal Pinky has the new fabrics on her profile here on MN. Just click on the yellow envelope thing near her name.

twinklingfairy · 01/09/2008 23:05

oh no, not envelope, what is that? a battery?
No, must be a clipboard type of thing?

chocolategal · 01/09/2008 23:08

I'm so excited! I got my secret stork person...and I know quite a lot about her, so I am looking forward to s.h.o.p.p.i.n.g!

ceebee74 · 02/09/2008 08:47

Morning

Merry - am about you knowing who your secret stork person is - I can't access my e-mails from work (so it is ok for me to access MN but not Hotmail - strange rules eh??) so I will have to wait until DS is in bed tonight now!! Am dying to know so I can get planning I love shopping!!

Daisy - I am also dreading the winter footwear scenario! I had DS in the summer (and it was a LOVELY summer) so it was flip flops all the way which are great. But no idea what to wear when it gets colder and my feet are swollen - have bought a pair of Skechers trainers in the sale that don't have shoelaces but that elasticy stuff (iykwim) threaded through so I am hoping they will be ok as the elastic will just stretch with my feet??

Twinkling - lol at you being properly up north - maybe we should describe ourselves as the 'ones in the middle' then

Vbab/Sparkle - just got to work today and there was an e-mail regarding my organisation's position on childcare vouchers and the new rules - will go on the other thread and post you the details.

Right - we need to organise a meet-up then - somewhere South Yorkshire way - any ideas (as I don't really know the area that well)? Maybe early October (like the London ladies are doing)?

LackaDAISYcal · 02/09/2008 08:58

I got my secret stork as well. I was a bit when I checked my email as there was nothing there (was about to call DH and harangue him for forgetting little old me). But, it had gone into the spam folder......one yahoo account to another, lol. So, check your spam boxes as well if there isn't anything in your inbox

Now....what to buy? Mmmmmmmmm

LackaDAISYcal · 02/09/2008 09:12

Secret Stork Update

DH apologises for tardiness, but he has been busy clearing up after me at the minute

Schools back today......oh the peace, the quiet, the freedom.......I miss him already

Pinkali37 · 02/09/2008 09:21

Hi All,

Misdee, very pleased that your scan went well and that you got further confirmation that you are having a littel girl, how exciting!

I've also received my secret stork now. When are we going to try and post them out???

Dh and I had fun last night (sorry i mean i sat in the floor and DH had fun) putting the wardrobes up and the changer in teh nursery. Cot tonight and doors onto wardrobe. I found it knackering!!

I went for a tour round the hopsital I am hoping to go to to give birth on saturday and it was lovely. The MW at the end of the tour asked how far each of us were and when I sadi 29 weeks she said "oh" so i said well how far do you think i am and she said about 36 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG i was shocked. So many people seem to think i'm big but as my MW confirmed yesterday I am measuring exactly right so hopefully it is just the wasy s/he is lying??? I HOPE...

I am still suffering with my back adn have been given the number for the Ob's Physio so i will give her a go.

I'm up north too. Lincoln/Gainsborough way and an travel to meet people if there was going to be a meet up?!?! That's if i'm invited?

LackaDAISYcal · 02/09/2008 09:42

Pink...next time I visit DH at his weekday abode we should definately meet up. He stays just south of Boston and his company are based just North of there.

Virgil is generally lying very high with me, with his head below my ribs, so my bump seems very sticky out indeed. The bottom of my bump seems very flat in comparison. I get the "OMG thought you were about to drop" comments all the time as well.

mum2becks · 02/09/2008 10:09

Morning everyone!!

ceebee yes definately need to arrange a meet up for those up north/ones in the middle!! Most times are ok with me as not working at the minute, providing we dont leave it until too late in Oct as i'm due 1st Nov (dont want to start in labour during our meet up ) Are we bringing dc for those who have them? Think they are about the same age so would probably play together if we met somewhere suitable?

daisy i hope it will stay mild enough until very near the time so I can continue with slip on shoes as my feet already wont stand being enclosed so no chance in another month or two!!! In worst case I do have some soft shoes that fasten with velcro straps so will have to manage with those I think

pinkali great that you are putting all your nursery furniture together, I found that time really exciting when expecting dd as it made it seem more real being able to see the finished nursery, you will have to post a photo when its finished!! As for size of your bump I was doing ok this time until the weekend when I saw my sister, havent seen her for a few weeks and her first words were 'oh my god you are huge' but I must admit I do feel like bump has grown a lot over the last couple of weeks and do now feel huge but dont want to be told it!!!!!

ceebee74 · 02/09/2008 10:25

Pinkali - I also continually get comments about the size of my bump - not sure why people think it is a compliment . Last time the MW measured me a few weeks ago, it was spot on for the dates too - really, does anyone know what a 28 week bump 'should' look like??? That is what I keep telling myself anyway.

Mum2Becks - early October is good for me. I start my 2-day weeks (yippee!) on 6 October so could easily stop at my parents for a couple of days. Maybe that week? I am not bothered whether it is with or without children as I am sure my parents would love to babysit DS but probably would be nice for them all to play together as they are similar ages so are there any good outdoor parks/soft play areas/attractions that anyone knows?

Pinkali37 · 02/09/2008 10:45

Ceebee, just realised you are in HR aren't you??? Could do with some advice if possible?

LackaDAISYcal · 02/09/2008 10:47

We need to be wearing shoes like THESE

Anytime is fine for me for a meet up as DS is now back at school (school hols are w/c 20th October I think) and, as long as it's no more than about an hour from here, my back will be fine for driving. I'll have DD in tow as I can't get a babysitter through the day very easily (PILs need about 10 weeks notice)

Oh shit, I put the grill on ages ago for toast and have just remembered

back later

ruthosaurus · 02/09/2008 10:54

Lola, I am v impressed you can tell which way bump is lying - I haven't got a clue! I think it was sideways yesterday, though, as I was a very strange shape.

Obs - poor thing. No suggestions, just a hug and I hope the docs can give you something to stop the vomming.

Nursery: just hope it's done! I have made a load of crochet squares that I'm turning into a blanky for bump but can't be arsed to connect them together (and don't know how - this was in earlier, enthusiastic stage of pg) and I know we need blackout curtains or a blind or something, and there is no heating in there (!) so we need to sort that... I like the idea of mismatching it all and calling it shabby chic . Poor wee thing is going in our room for the first bit anyway - haven't decorated that, either! [collapses in semi-hysterical giggles]

Got to go - supposed to be working ...

Daisy - loving the shoes - maybe I should put in a bulk order now

Pinkali - of course I can give you some advice (assuming I know the answer ) - do you want to do it on here or are you on the Facebook group? In which case you can e-mail me there. Or, failing that, let me know and I will give you my home e-mail address but I won't be able to pick it up till tonight

thomasina1 · 02/09/2008 11:00

Hi everyone,Just trying to catch up with everything!

misdee, I'm glad your scan went well, that's good news.

Daisy, good point about the coats. I have had a lovely summer jacket from Topshop maternity so will just have to hope weather doesn?t get tooo cold b4 November!

Welcome beaches! And anyone else I've missed!

Tegan, are you OK? Hope you manage to see a doctor/midwife today to sort things out!

Obs, hope you also get sorted out by a doctor soon, you poor thing!

ceebee - was it you asking about stickers for nursery? I?ve ordered some lovely looking ones from here, they also do jungle ones so may be worth a look.

OK, off to have a more thorough catch-up x

Pinkali37 · 02/09/2008 11:03

I just can't go near heels! Went to a wedding reception a couple of wkends ago and I ended up wearing a pretty pair of flats when 2 other pregnant people were in their heels! I am likely to end up on my back if I wore them.

Obs - Sorry you are feeling rather crap!

Now the weather is turning it is really bringing it home that November is just around the corner. I AM SO EXCITED...... I feel so lucky and clever to have created another human being. Wow how life will never be the same but hey this is just the natural step in life progression so I am going to enjoy every single minute.

MerryMarigold · 02/09/2008 11:05

I was thinking of wearing slip on sandals with socks!!! Hmmmm...maybe I won't be wearing those to the trendy London meet up! Also thought of some fairly large and loose boots that can just pull on. Basically I can't do laces anymore and slip-on shoes fall off my feet, so I don't own any. Last time I managed with a pair of lace-ups, but they were a real hassle at the end and now I am bigger than I was then, so...sandals and socks it is !

MerryMarigold · 02/09/2008 11:06

ChocO, we are missing you and your PMA. Any positive suggestions for the shoe and coat dilemma?!...hope you are feeling bit better today but really hope you are NOT IN WORK. It's sicky time.

suiledonn · 02/09/2008 11:13

Hi everyone, very excited to have my Secret Stork details. Now the fun part begins. I love looking for presents and dh is working late a few nights this week so I will have lots of time for research.

I'm 30 weeks today. The time is passing really quickly although I have a feeling I won't be saying that in 6 weeks weeks time. I had a night away on Sunday night all on my own. I really missed dh and dd but it was good to have some peace and quiet. DD is such a chatterbox I can't hear myself think most days.
I really wanted to get some bits and pieces for the baby. I have loads of second hand stuff but wanted a few nice things. Had a total brain freeze though - I don't know if it is a boy or girl and very little nice neutral stuff around. Also just couldn't decide on a size. DD was only 6lb so needed tiny things for her but have a feeling this baby is bigger. I just couldn't make a decision. I ended up getting a lovely white snow suit in Next and that was it.

What size baby stuff is everyone buying?????

Oblomov - I really feel for you with the ongoing MS. I had it last time and it is so uncomfortable to be vomiting with a big heavy bump, not to mention how worried it made me about the baby. DD was fine though so a lot of worry for nothing. Even though I am not diabetic and no sign of gestational diabetes I am definitely a slave to my blood sugar levels. Still inclined to be sick some days now if I don't eat regularly or if I go to bed on an empty stomach. Maybe the doctor can prescribe something. Acupuncture is supposed to help too.

Beaches welcome.

Beaches · 02/09/2008 11:14

Hi everyone, mis weather, meant to be going to a meet in the park, have to go to the libary instead grrr!
Hana, thanks for the info but too late now generations of irish women used it and I lived on the stuff when preg with dd1 with no side effects at all, also used it all through this one, I just prefer it to all the rubbish you find in prescribed meds...
Merry perhaps some of those ugg boots would suit, sooooo comfy, with foot sizes constantly changing in preg you can pick them up really cheap £8 in Peacocks...

LackaDAISYcal · 02/09/2008 11:14

I got a really nice, wool mix long line cardi in sainsbury's for only £35. Some of the ones I'd seen elsewhere were much more expensive than that (especially for wool) so I'm rather pleased as it's really simply styled with a blazer type collar on it.

Hopefully the feet swelling won't be as bad in November. With DD, born in June, my feet were like sausages from about 36 weeks onwards and I had to buy slipper type things in a bigger size as I couldn't get anything on my feet at all. They didin't go down until about a months afterwards either....twas a nightmare.

Beaches · 02/09/2008 11:16

I am using loads of second hand stuff also, I have bought diff sizes, starting from 7 pounds up, then asking my parents to get 3-6 months (for baby presents) dp parents 6-12, so on.

ceebee74 · 02/09/2008 11:18

Suiledonn - I was determined to get a special snowsuit to bring baby home from the hospital in so ordered a really cute one from Next at 0-3 months. When it arrived, me and Dh were laughing at how big it was (it really was huge!) so I am going to have to swap it for newborn I think! (And really, you would think we would know this stuff having been through it before wouldn't you? )

Thomasina - thanks for the link. Those stickers look fab as I really want something 'different' rather than Mothercare/Next stuff.
