ceebee - LOL at DS hiding the damp patch. My DS just stands and points saying "oooohhhhh". DS is so honest to a fault that if he every does anything, wrong or right, or hurts himself he has to show everyone in the vicinty and if you ask him who did it he will say he did it.

RE: Dropping ... my bump starts at the top under my boobs but is quite soft except for the bottom bit near my ladies bits. Sorry for too much info.

I will have to get my 30wk pic on for you all to analyse.

Oblomov · 26/08/2008 16:58

Vbab, we are talking 'dropping' already ????
When do we 'drop' then ?

Like many of you (mainly Monkey and Ceebee, I notice ) my eating habits have become vile. Dh laughs when I talk of splattering spag bol onto my 'shelf', because he laughs and says he has always had one ( he is a big man !!)

Glad to see things are better with Autumlady.

And how is Vbab's dh ? Surely things can't be that bad if she's attempting potty training - mad bint. Talking of which it all sounds like it going peeing'ly ! No need to worry about nighttime, just yet. I did it in 2 stages.
Vbab , Cod used to do some fab threads on 'potty training boot camp'. Def worth a look.

Cricri, it was a new cot that I got today.
Thanks to others for cot support posts And how are you doing Cricri ? I haven't
spoken to you in ages. Sorry.

Hope Pinkali's appointment goes well - it is on thurs, isn't it ?
oh no that it Chocolategal - hope that goes well.

Shock at Choc reaching big 30. I am only 28 weeks, and have anti d and 28 week scan on fri.

MerryM was asking after DrsWife. Haven't seen much or her. Is she o.k. ? Is there cause for concern ?

No advice for Roca on the attractive nightwear for c section, I am afraid. Do they make such a thing. Might as well be damned with it and order myself one of those all-in-ones adult. Considering my name, it should suit be 24/7, don't you think
I normally sleep naked. So does dh. I find it very peculiar being in hospital and thus having to wear anything in bed.

AND FINALLY, to Book club ladies, particularly tea ladies meeting for Dozy's cucumber sandwiches bash, I would like to borrow a couple of books. Seeing as I will be in hospital for 5 days, I was wondering if a couple of you could bring a good book to the tea session, to loan me.
I like A Prayer for Owen Meany, Margaret Atwood, anything with a twist at the end. All donations gratefully received.

MonkeyMargot · 26/08/2008 16:58

Autumnlady - pleased that things are getting back to normality for you.
Vbab hope you're feeling the love of your DH - men are rubbish at telling/showing us. And we are all more emotional than normal at the moment.

Choc - LOL at your flapjack incident!!!V.funny. The first time I spilt plum-juice on myself was at work, and I exclaimed to my boss, " I've dribbled plum-juice down my chest! " .
Needless to say, my boss and the rest of my (all male) colleagues, guffawed heartily at the (non-intentional) double entendre......

ChocOrange05 · 26/08/2008 17:13

Monkey PMSL at your accidental double entendre - plum juice indeed!!

Obs I have a book recommendation for you - my aunt is an author and her books are really good, and I would have definitely lent you my copy but it appears to be on loan at the moment. She has written three books which, although they aren't a series they do have some recurring characters so the first one to read is this one Sorry for the blatant advertising, but I would go as far to say that if you don't enjoy it I will give you your money back as its really good! (see the amazon reviews too)

good to see everyone is chatty again today! It has been a very quiet weekend, hope everyone had a good BH?

vbab I potty trained dd a few weeks ago, just decided one morning to put pants on rather than nappy (had been telling her for a while about potty etc) the first day was a disaster and didnt have a single wee on the potty But now (touch wood) she asks to go to toilet or potty and I can confidently take her out and know she will ask to go! so would say keep at it and good luck (plus for about the last week her nappy has been dry every morning so going to be brave and try without once current pack of nappies runs out)

Everyone has made me laugh about getting food down them, I have started to use stain remover on as many of my clothes as I do dd's!!!!!

I too reached the 30 week point at the weekend!! it nows seems so close I'm starting to panic a bit that I still havent got dd's room finished, to move her into so that I can then make a start on the nursery!!!!! Think I'm going to have a busy few weeks!!!!!!!

mum2becks · 26/08/2008 18:22

that should be 'be brave and try without nappy at night too once nappies run out'

LackaDAISYcal · 26/08/2008 20:57

any news from pinkali? I hope things are OK.

AL good news that things are easier with you and DH, but bad news on you ironing his shirts. I too never iron DHs shirts; in fact I only iron things that really need it, and only if a 10 minute tumble doesn't get the creases out

obs, glad you got the cot . You know I didn't even register that it was flightattendant. Her DS is a June 07 baby like my DD.

Not sure which way virgil is lying. He was heads up, but my heartburn has stepped back a notch and I can feel hard bits across the middle so he is lying across me at the minute......and I haven't been able to bend down at all today. Hopefully this is him getting ready for take off.

My big 30 weeks is on Thursday...definately into the home stretch now

MerryMarigold · 26/08/2008 22:25

pinkali was going in to be monitored earlier today. haven't heard anything, maybe her mum is around and she is having too much of a nice time to MN. please let us know asap pinkali, so we don't worry too much on your behalf...

autumnlady, glad things better with dh. ooooh, leave him with his mum to paint a room, now THERE's a good punishment. .

potty training. arghh. ds is 2 and 8 months and still not 'getting it'. we have been 'practising' ie. wearing no nappy round the house and garden, but not one, and i mean, not ONE has gone in potty. still my friend's dd is past 3 and suddenly 'got it' all in one week when the week before she was going all over, so guess when they are ready, they are ready. really hope he gets it sussed before these babies are born though.

obs, i have a few other john irvings...not sure what you have read. have you read 'ursula under', really liked that. and 'cloud atlas' is just a twist all the way through i think. what about 'white teeth', loved that one too. you'll have to remind me nearer the meet up though! brain like a sieve. asked dh to "put icecream back in the oven" today. ehhhhhhh?!

Thanks Choc and MM, for book recommendations. I will remind nearer the time.

Potty training. Ds decided when he wanted to do it. bit like Vbab's ds, I think he had a nursery friend, who prompted him. Suddenly announced he wanted big boy pants. Which I had had for a while. And we had the potty 'around'.
But he decided he wanted this, on a weeks holiday to Ibiza. And all the books say, don't do it when things are unstable/ you are on holiday - do it when you are feeling calm and strong/ are at home. But dh said, just go with it. If he pees, he can pee in someone elses bed !!!! Nice attitude. But fair/true.
And that was it. He was done. No accidents. It was becasue HE DECIDED. And when we got home, he had 2 accidents , at nursery, because he was involved in playing, he didn't want to go/miss anything. And left it too late.
So ended the Oblomov potty training story. The one, that never, began.

A few weeks later, dh suggested to ds that he didn't need them at night, like his cousin, and literally, that was it. Ds was 2.5. I am a great believer in not forcing things. Encouraging, persuading, yes. But not forcing. They will do it when they are ready. As ds proved.

ceebee74 · 27/08/2008 08:43

Morning everyone

Hana - I am so of your bump as it is so neat and small! I am a week behind you and I am huge in comparison!

Obs - I am similar to you in that I don't believe in forcing DS to do things - he has shown over and over in the 2 years that he will do things when he is ready and, like your DS, once he has made his mind up, that is it and he will do it perfectly. For example, he never practiced sitting up - we kept trying to get him to sit up but he refused then one day, he just sat up perfectly straight and stable. The same with walking - he never did the 'stagger' that babies do when they are first learning - he didn't let go of anything until he was confident he could do it which was at 14 months and the first time he walked, it was perfect and steady.

Pinkali - I hope everything is ok with you and that you post soon to let us know

Hi to everyone else.

As for me, I had a bad day yesterday and felt really down and fed up Time just seems to be dragging and I feel like I have been pg forever and I am really fed up with being pg and have still got another 3 months to go Does anyone else have bad days like this??

vbab78 · 27/08/2008 08:43

obs - Calling me a "DAFT BINT"!

Like you have known me for years.

I'm sat at work at the mo feeling more tired than usual. Completely my fault as I went out for a meal and chat with friends, then we went back to a friend's house and lost track of time. At 11.30pm realised the time and set off home. Didn't go to bed until gone midnight!

Party animal me dont you know!

vbab78 · 27/08/2008 08:45

obs - sorry "MAD" not "DAFT". But guilty of both.

Oblomov · 27/08/2008 09:04

Mad/Daft = same thing
BINT

Yeah, like lets attempt some potty training. Yeah, like its not like I don't have enough on my plate at the moment....= daft bint

Cewbee, I feel just like that.
Hanas photo is really nice, really neat. Mine is bigger, I think. Must post photo.
And I feel, in limbo. Fed up with being pg. Not at exciting stage. Nothing on the horizon. Dragging. When will it hurry up.

thanks for the link, choco

i've felt a bit better moodwise past couple of weeks, maybe insulin has happy drugs in it! anyway, suddenly hit me that this is the last time EVER i will be pregnant and i better enjoy it! getting more excited about babies. spent time with a friend and her 5wk old yesterday...ahhh ds really loves him. ran in garden and shouted, "liiiiiiinus, come and play basketball" and when linus was crying he said "come and sit with me, baby linus." ahhhhh...was so cute to see their interaction.

potty...yeah, i definitely agree with when he's ready...he has a couple of potty trained friends and always seems a bit more enthusiastic after but we don't see them often enough. and he's always been a little 'late' with everything, so am not really worried, but just don't want it to all kick off when i have 1 day old babies! oh well, will cope i suppose.

Dozymare · 27/08/2008 09:16

Hi All,

Not posted for a few days as been very busy with the kids sorting things out such as school shoes and pencil cases...have hospital appointment this morning and taking both with me - I KNOW it is going to be hard work trying to keep them entertained, may have to get a packet of minstrels out to keep them quiet

Hanaflower your bump is SOOOOO neat and tidy - i am sure I am double the size, have been comparing my 3rd bump (ie this one) to pictures of my 1st and bloody hell, what a difference!!! Think I will be having personal trainer sessions for the rest of my life as a xmas pressie!!!!!

autumnlady glad things are calming down a bit, remember it is a very common occurence that DH's go a bit mental and weird at some stage during the pregnancy.......at least your in laws can see what a twat he is being and are being supportive of you.

My little tiger lemonade is much quieter these last 2 days - not really felt any majore movement but am feeling something so tryiing not to pnaic....will mention it today to MW though as slightly worried, although from reading the post for these past few days, it seems that a lot of babies have got quieter......

Also think I may have a urine infection as got a dull ache quite low down behind my "ladybits".

Still not heard back from hotel re afternoontea as the lady is still away - will update asap.

Obs - I have literally given 3 charity shops over 200 bookes between them - could have passed onto you!!!!!

As for Potty training, I am another who believe that your child will do it when ready. I had a friend who was trying her son at 18m as her mum had managed her at the same age....needless to say, she was wiping wee and poo of the floor for months and was very of me at 28months when DS1 was dry day and night (!) in 3 days!!!

DS2 is going to have to wait until Xmas hols so DH can do it - no rush IMO..........

better get on with some housework, house is a real mess, now there's a stroke of luck

DM xxx

vbab78 · 27/08/2008 09:21

obs -

Not like me to do too much! I am very good at seperating things I do and need to do with DS from other "problem" areas in my life. DS is my life and my priority as far as I am concerned over and above anything that may be going on with me or others.

I feel that if I can try to get DS a little potty trained and half settled in a new room and bed now rather than after baby me and him can handle it better. Less £ on nappies would be great too!

vbab78 · 27/08/2008 09:35

dozymare - Make sure you mention the water infection at the hospital. I started with one on hol and didnt realise so by the time I got home I was in so much pain I ended up being checked out at the hospital. They gave me the antibiotics straight away. It was then also by chance that they found I had GBS from a swab they had me do.

Pinkali37 · 27/08/2008 09:40

Morning All,

Sorry I didn't post last night but I fell asleep straight after tea (I missed my afternoon nap). Went to be monitored and Tarquin is fine. They didn't really have an explanation for the slow down in movements bt have told me to go in today or anytime if I am worried again adn they will get me a doppler and give me a scan. They said I was right to contact them as they say once you have got used to your baby's pattern if there are any significant changes to it you should contact them. Appointment was 3pm but got seen at 5pm and left the hospital at 6.36pm...

The midwife was lovely and explained everything and even the doctor came to have a look at the tacograph thingy (sp?). I felt happy just being there as I knew I was in the best place.

When they put me on the monitor they mentioned contractions and I freaked and thought "oh god they're telling me i'm going into labour and i haven't brought DH". Derrrr....

Anyway all is fine and I am just keeping an eye on when Tarquin moves.

Hope everyone else is ok???? xxx Thank you all for your concern and i'm very sorry to have caused a fuss xxx

cricri · 27/08/2008 09:41

Pinkali Hope all is well with Tarquin
Lovely bump Hana
I've also been feeling a bit fed up the past couple of days. I think it's because my bump suddenly seems a lot bigger and is stopping me from getting comfortable. I'm still getting a lot of backache despite walking around and stretching as often as possible. Still, I keep telling myself that it's not for much longer NCT classes start on Sunday so I'm looking forward to that.
Talking of which, I had a horrible dream about going into labour last night. I dreamt I'd gone into labour early (so about now) and I couldn't get hold of my doula, the birthing pool hadn't arrived, nothing was ready... it was one of those panicky OMG I'll never be ready type dreams. Most unsettling! And I didn't even get to the actual proper labour bit
DM Hope your appt goes well this afternoon and that you haven't got a UTI.

cricri · 27/08/2008 09:44

Pinkali X-posted with you. So pleased everything is OK You didn't cause a fuss at all - we were all concerned about you! After 6 months on the thread and the trials of pg we all care about one another

chocolategal · 27/08/2008 10:14

glad to hear all is well with Tarquin!

my baby has active days then not so active days, again the MW has no real explanation for this but i guess that is his pattern so im getting used to it.

got consultant appt tmw, so will let you all know how that goes when i get back.

i still havent put 3d pics up, that must be my job for today! am off today so tidying out cupboards in babys room, waiting on the carpet man to come shampoo carpets

lovely bump hana

goodluck with the housework dozy and hope you dont have UTI, keep drinking and maybe you will flush it out before it comes to anything.

thanks for the link chocorange ive never heard of mama mio before but it looks lovely stuff

Pinkali37 · 27/08/2008 10:23

Wow, hana your bump is all lovely and small. Mine looks like i'm having an elephant! I was measured again yesterday and I measured perfectly 28.5cm.

TMI question.. does anyone get strange twinge pains in their minnie??? aka. ladybits etc..

vbab78 · 27/08/2008 10:38

pinkali - sometimes I do get weird feels there but I think it is baby moving or kicking.
