Here we are! This should do us for a few weeks...

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Am pretty sure am having a boy again as this pregnancy is so similar to my pregnancy with DS ... and DS insists he wants a little brother. Not sure how it'll go down if it turns out he's getting a little sister...

spottyshoes · 05/09/2008 17:08

Evening all - I made it through my first full time week and now had a week off! Yay. On a positive note my Manager gave me an extra few days AL now I am working FT for a bit which means I can leave on Xmas Eve - Double Yay

We are definately finding out id l.o will let us as I hate suprises and waiting! I'm not sure what I'm having as have totally different symptoms to DS, sickness, spots, anger issues etc but am carrying the same (with hair ). I would guess another boy but equally wouldn't be suprised at a girl.

winemakesmummyclever · 05/09/2008 17:14

Have no idea what I might be having. Much sicker than was with ds, but no other significant changes in this pg. Would like a girl if I am honest, but I cannot give a decent reason why (other than it would necessitate a lot more shopping ).

However, I would still be very happy with another noisy, boisterous, paint-splattered and glitter-encrusted, still pj-clad little monkey like the one I have here right now who is treating me to a "lovely" rendition of "twinkle twinkle little star" on his keyboard and mike (complete with feedback).

mslucy · 05/09/2008 17:45

Isn't the sickness thing supposed to mean a girl? And craving for sweets?

I craved meat with DS and am craving spinach/greens/tomatoes with this one.

I had no real m/s with ds (just retching) and similar with this one, which I found out was a boy when I had the CVS.

I would have enjoyed buying clothes for a girl and had a lovely name I was desperate to use, but in some ways I'm glad it's another boy (skint and don't have to buy any new toys )

He's been wriggling around all day - feel like I've got a bag of snakes in my belly. Probably noticed it more today because I've been lurking around in the house hiding from the rain and you notice movement more if you're sitting on your arse (rather than running around like a nutter).

Going to feed him a curry later, which
should be an interesting experiment!

re: maternity clothes. Yes, they are pricey, especially the nicer ones.
I have got some really lovely stuff off ebay, which has been much admired. Because it's only worn for a few months it's in great condition.

MarkStretch · 05/09/2008 17:56

If mine is a girl I am going to need some serious help with names.

There is NOTHING Dh and I agree on!

Boy is sorted, no problem.

herbgarden · 05/09/2008 18:01

We're not going to find out here. Have a lovely ds already and part of me would love a dd just for a change but the other part of me just thinks it would be easier to have another boy.....as I'll just be happy to have it out either way and am desperate to know but also I know will kick myself for spoiling the surprise, I think we'll wait. DH is happy to wait too....

PinkTulips · 05/09/2008 18:04

well with dd we could only agree on a girls name, with ds we could only agree on a boys name.

we've already got a name picked for a girl so maybe it's fate telling us!

Swampster · 05/09/2008 18:14

I had better have a girl this time or DS1 will be mad at me - he asked for a sister last time round when he was two, got a brother. Now he is BEGGING for a sister. DS2 (two years old) doesn't believe there's a baby in there. DS1 wants to know how it will get out...

Swampster · 05/09/2008 18:15

And I WILL be finding out.

Swampster · 05/09/2008 18:19

On the school front, DS1 is about to start reception. I went to pick up some bits of uniform from the school office for him the other day and burst into tears. School sec was pissing herself laughing and doling out tissues. She blamed my hormones but I think I would have bawled regardless.

winemakesmummyclever · 05/09/2008 18:20

Hmmm....don't know about the sweet cravings meaning a girl. With ds all I wanted for the first few months was haribo gummy bears. Just the green ones though - had everyone at work saving them for me. It was great coming on to a long night duty knowing that I had a great big bag of sweeties to get me through the 4am lull.

Later, I developed a obsession with hot and sour soup from a particular restaurant (better than anything in Chinatown imho). Went to that restaurant a lot - cost us a blardy fortune!!

No cravings at all yet with this one. Unless locking myself in the downstairs loo to scoff THREE mini chunky kit-kats in a row counts. Or is that just sensible as I really didn't want to have to share them with ds?

Swampster · 05/09/2008 18:28

Three kit-kats means you are having kittens!

pluto · 05/09/2008 18:36

Don't want to find out. Girl would be fun as we have a boy. But whatever - a lovely baby of either flavour will be fab.

laidbackinengland · 05/09/2008 18:40

I have 3 boys already and I think I'll find out - just because I can !! I'm happy with either a boy or girl - either we get somethng different (a girl) or a full house or some other poker influenced term if we have a boy

MarkStretch · 05/09/2008 19:07

God my bloody head! I have taken 2 paracetamol (reluctantly) and they have done NOTHING. I want to relax and enjoy my evening but it feels like someone has inserted a probe in one ear and through my brain. DH just took my bp and it's fine so I know it's not that.

Maybe Ben and Jerry's will cure it?

PinkTulips · 05/09/2008 19:13

it's bound to

what flavour?

MarkStretch · 05/09/2008 19:17

Erm, Vanilla and Chocolate crunch I think- the one with little bits of Dime Bar in it.

Drool.

mslucy · 05/09/2008 19:27

Have just ordered a massive chicken curry and am positively drooling at the thought of it -takeaway is 2 mins walk and you get a discount if you collect.

I will be mainlining rennies afterwards, but what's pleasure without a little pain.

Have no desire for sweets at all, but then I am a freak who doesn't really like chocolate.

MarkStretch - Violet was my girl's name. I love it so much but don't think it would work for a boy .

PinkTulips · 05/09/2008 19:59

mmmmm, you lot are making me hungry

i love a good curry but we can so rarely afford chinese these days, over 20euros for just me and dp and it's 5 miles into town and 5 miles back so add petrol to that

am in need of something though, kids were horrid today. dd's playschool teacher, who is a single mom to 2 tough boys and deals with 20 hyper toddlers daily, actually said to me 'I wouldn't be able for your kids Dee' thay were so rotten at toddler group.

dd kept wetting herself because she wanted to go home and i spent most of the time in the loo using the hand drier on her last pair of pants, ds shoved a bead up his nose, they had a wrestling match over an empty lunchbox, she whinged and cried most of the time, ds cried every time another child took a toy he'd been playing with 20 mins earlier, he kept accusing babies of attacking him and then they wouldn't leave!!!!!

they then spent the rest of the day whining and screaming over every little thing

PinkTulips · 05/09/2008 20:01

lol, just finished typing that and dp's mate walked in the door with a bag of cookies his girlfriend made us.

double chocolate.... yum yum

spottyshoes · 05/09/2008 20:18

I've just had half a tub of forrest fruits type Ben & Jerry's and TWO bags of amazingly sour fizzy cola bottles. They were great!

oooggs · 05/09/2008 20:28

it was a busy day yesterday, ds1 started reception and we had our scan and everything is fine

hope you are all well - it is hard to keep up with this thread

spottyshoes · 05/09/2008 21:09

Hi oooogs, Hope DS got on ok? and glad everything went ok with scan......did you find out?????!!!!

I keep nearly falling asleep on the keyboard! I'm such a party animal on a Friday night

laidbackinengland · 05/09/2008 21:11

yes oogs do tell ?

herbgarden · 05/09/2008 21:23

I'm in my bed already. Ds driving me bonkers for last 3 days so am really looking forward to a (hopefully) good night's sleep and the weekend (save for the rain - it's been ALL DAY here - hope no-one out there has had any of the flooding I saw on the news) - God it is making me MISERABLE.

I thought about investing in one of those light lamp things people use for SAD this afternoon - "Summer" can't be over. Then I persuaded DH that we should (even though can't afford it) book a holiday and he agreed. We're off to Greece for a week in 3 weeks so the new carpet is on hold......DH works really long hours and is more miserable than me so I hope we might at least see some sunshine there and have a bit of a relax. If it pees with rain all week and we start to have an Indian Summer here I will be p**d off in a big way !

Start packing this weekend for the big move in 2 weeks.

I am also loving those Haribo type sweeties I buy the cheaper packs in tescos of the gummy/sherberty variety and hide them in ds's plastic container cupboard in the kitchen - he's not quite worked out what they are yet so they're all for me. Somehow they don't feel as naughty as chocolate although they're full of sugar aren't they (maybe reason I feel a bit sick and weird half an hour after eating them !)....

Night ladies.............
