Good luck in your interview and scan! Hope there's nothing sinister going on...

Had the most incredibly vivid dreams about being pregnant and about to give birth (without the actual labour bit). I seem to think that I was pretty relaxed about it all in the dream - like birth was going to be a piece of piss. Hmmm.

Am constantly and utterly knackered. Other half doesn't give a hoot and thinks I am just milking it.

9 days until the scan.....

MKG · 08/08/2008 11:13

Law--call the midwife and let them know

Hedge--good luck (am so )

I'm exhausted today. I slept on the couch because a sick 3 yo invaded our bed last night and for a little person he takes up a lot of space. It's only 6am here so am listening to his snotty nose while he sleeps.
Oh the joys of motherhood.

emma2617 · 08/08/2008 11:14

Boobz I'm with you there! I am completely knackered and DP seems to think I should be just carrying on as normal!

We have fallen out again cos he is starting to get annoyed with me snapping at him, but I really cant help it! I am hoping when we go for the scan and we get another reminder of exactly what is happening things should calm down a little!!

And while I amtalking about scans, I can't believe its only 4 days away! When I got the appointment it felt ages away!!

Is anyone else startng to not beleive they are pregnant?! Apart from being tired and grumpy I don't really have any symptoms! I keep dreaming that I turn up for the san and they just laught me out of the hospital as there is no baby so now I am starting to think the worst! And again, google has only made it worse! I read that only 50% of women have symptomatic miscarriages, the other 50% dont know theyve lost the baby until they have a scan. Really must stop googling!

Boobz · 08/08/2008 11:34

Yes Emma, I am with you on the not really pregnant thing. I am knackered and have sore norks but other than that I think I am making it all up in my head. I too am dreading going for the scan, thinking they will turn around to me slowly and say "I'm ever so sorry, but...". Have got both my other half and best friend coming with me so will have support for both good or bad news. Am bricking it though.

Work is a bitch at the moment too. I hate it and wish I could take maternity leave now for the next 5 years. I would resign but then of course I wouldn't get the maternity pay and I need my year end bonus to buy a proper car for burgeoning family (we already have a mini and a volvo, but both are broken at the moment, and we already have a dog, so am starting to worry how we will cope without a car with dog, baby and husband in tow.

God I am rambling. Sorry.

laweaselmys · 08/08/2008 11:41

Is anyone's DP coming to their scan? He can't decide (as would have to take time off work and he doesn't want them to know yet). I suppose it doesn't matter too much, I can always get somebody else to come with me, but I can't help but think it would be nice if he could go!

Plus, how much are the photos? £5 ish? (sounds about the right level of extrotionate to me)

laweaselmys · 08/08/2008 11:42

btw - am feeling much better and decided it was just an irrated throat, (as it was a bit sore, and have had something similar before) but promise to call if it happens again or anything else feels wrong.

MavisGrind · 08/08/2008 11:44

When we went for our 12 week scan with ds we were so convinced that something had to have gone wrong that we were totally suprised at the sonographer casually pointing out the baby! I really didn't think there would be one there

I'm properly knackered now and dh has been away since Monday for a jolly work leaving me with a 2 year old and packing and cleaning out entire flat. Can't quite believe I agreed to this arrangement.

Anyhoo, wish me luck ladies, we fly back to the UK on Sunday so this may be my last post for a week or so. 27 hours of travel then a week staying with 5 different family/friends. And I thought I was tired now!

Good luck to everyone having scans, I'll catch up with you all soon.

calsworld · 08/08/2008 11:47

Starshine - Re chicken pox and shingles,

You can only get shingles if you've already had chicken pox and you can't get shingles from someone who's had shingles. When you've had CP, the virus lies dormant in your nervous system and re-activates, normally if tired or stressed.

However, someone who hasn't had CP can get it from someone who has Shingles, but only if they touch the affected area, which is easy to avoid, its not airborne like CP.

So, I would say that its OK to go as long as you've had CP.

DS has CP now and doctor and MW have both confirmed I'm not at risk because I had it as a kid!

HTH,
Cal

Boobz · 08/08/2008 11:48

By Mavis - see you soon!

emma2617 · 08/08/2008 12:07

Law DP is coming to the scan on Tuesday, he has had to take a half day holiday from work but he really wants to be there! It said in my appointment letter how much photos were...they are £2 for me...cheap as chips!

Mandy73 · 08/08/2008 12:18

Glad you're feeling better laweaselmys.
DH came for the 'reassurance scan' after my MC scare w6 and we're both glad he did as I was too frantic to really register anything. He's coming to the 12 week nuchal too.

Having short stabbing pains v low in abdomen today, left hand side almost next to the groin area, when I move fast or lift something - is it normal? Could it be ligament related? Trying not to worry too much about every little ache & pain but must admit walking on egg shells since the scare.

Have a great w/e all. xx

MKG · 08/08/2008 12:21

Nope dh only came to the 20 week scan with ds1. He's much more useful taking care of the boys at home anyway. So I think I'll be going it alone with this baby. Fine by me, Maybe I'll find out the sex and not tell anyone, just say that they couldn't see. Ohh that would be naughty of me wouldn't it.

Figure if he's there for the birth that's what matters.

MKG · 08/08/2008 12:23

Mandy,

Sounds like ligaments to me.

lizziemun · 08/08/2008 13:35

Dh has come to all my previous scans and he will come to these one to. Mind you he has the car so he has to come .

auntyspan · 08/08/2008 13:49

Hi all

mandy have had the same thing.... def ligaments. You need to take it easy, pulling something is v easy at the moment i think!

I'm actually beginning to feel better which is great - I'd be worried if I hadn't seen beanie doing somersaults earlier this week! Hardly any sickness now, still tiredness but not a patch on a few weeks ago. I reckon I'm having a boy now, my ms was totally different with DD - I was still throwing up at 14 weeks! (am 9 weeks now)

Has anyone else bought maternity stuff? I bought some 'early term jeans' at the weekend and they're so comfy I love them. I seem to be getting bigger earlier this pregnancy, although I'm thinner than I was when I got pg with DD. Is that common?

Happy birthday emma!

goldmother2b · 08/08/2008 20:01

hello all. I hope everyone is doing well today. I have been feeling much less sickly for the last few days, am 10.3 weeks at the moment, and hoping that everything is still ok, feeling sick was very reassuring. Have got my scan on Monday so fingers crossed I will see a lively healthy little bean. If I do I'll be able to start enjoying not feeling ill!
Aunty, where did you get your early term jeans from? I think I need some as am have def started looking rounder of belly recently
