katzguk · 16/02/2005 15:41

Have fun...!

Uwila · 16/02/2005 15:47

So Katz has just gone up to the lab to find a strange older man.... Pregnancy does weird things to some people.

Uwila · 16/02/2005 15:48

I wonder where Charley is today. You don't suppose she is still in bed, do you?

MrsWednesday · 16/02/2005 15:49

I'm uninspired too.

Baby has been booting me all over since lunchtime - must have enjoyed my sandwich.

Dare I mention stretchmarks? Anyone get them yet? With DS I got loads on my boobs straight away. For the rest of the pregnancy I assumed I didn't have any but it was only because they were on the underside of my belly and I couldn't see them. Have just bought some Palmers Cocoa Butter in the hope of stopping any more appearing - not sure if it's working yet but I smell good enough to eat (chocolatey....hmmm).

JonahB, it's a struggle, I have to admit. Have decided today that I am giving up the rowing machine, my belly gets in the way.

teabelly · 16/02/2005 15:59

Ooh stretch marks!! I didn't get any with ds...but already had a map of the underground on my body from puberty luckily they're all silvery now so don't really show. But I did panic that I would therefore be more suseptable to new ones when pg last time. A friend's mum recommended good old fashioned baby oil (rubbed in after your bath/shower when still wet), so I used copious amounts of the stuff, he he he...and luckily I didn't get one last time. Am zealously doing the same this time, keeping my fingers crossed...

teabelly · 16/02/2005 16:02

ha ha ha just thought I'm building up a great image of myself on here...little boobies aided by wonderbras, giant 'inny' belly button and tramlines of old strechmarks...nice!!!

JonahB · 16/02/2005 16:16

katz, thanks for the advice, I'll give it a whirl.

teabelly, I'm sure you look fab undressed!!!.. I have similar conversations with my DH, as I'm standing there semi-naked, looking like a dogs dinner and revealing to him some of my less tasteful habits, which for the sake of sensibilities, dont think ought to be revealed here . I think I'm getting that funny line thing that goes downwards from my (v. much outy) belly button. I didnt think I had it yet, but i must have been kidding myself (what the eye can't see in the shower etc) as I went to the pub last night and my mates little sister excitedly exclaimed to the contrary.
Anyone heard from Katz since she disappeared with her older man?

katzguk · 16/02/2005 16:16

back from the lab now my older man has headed home until friday so i'm once more returned to normallity!!

i got strecthmarks with DD and am expecting them again, i used anti-stretch mark cream last time and am again, DH likes to massage my bump so its kinda nice bonding for him

Well I've got a shockingly hairy belly. So there.

Katzguk, if you don't mind me asking, what do you teach?

katzguk · 16/02/2005 16:35

i've not quite left yet - so i'll answer your question mrsW.

Today i was teaching a dentist doing a masters some lab skills and techniques. but i also do some lectures of biomaterials and biocompatibility (basically anything that is put into the body that wasn't there before eg hip replacement and how the body might react) but its only part of my job the main part is actually doing research

Katz your job sounds way better than mine...sorry I went off looking at how the FSA have changed the filing forms in the annual return, so I know how much the Auditors coming in next monday are ripping us off, he he he! see boring accounts stuff...now that's really gonna scare everyone away

teabelly · 16/02/2005 16:59

see !! I was right - now that's got to be a record three days on the trot, he he he! Well I'm off home now girlies...end of my working week, yippeeee! Will try and catch up over next few days (if ds lets me!) if not have a good weekend x.

MrsWednesday · 16/02/2005 17:00

Blimey. Two very impressive jobs there (incomprehensible but impressive!). All I have to show for my venture into academia is a useless English degree.

JonahB · 16/02/2005 17:26

I have no understanding of what Tea and Katz do for a living, but they sound impressive....

Mrs Wed, I can beat you for useless degrees - mine was in classics. ha ha. Loved it, but everyone assumes you want to go and be a librarian or a teacher with it, (both of which I'd hate)

MrsWednesday · 16/02/2005 17:32

Not wanting to sound too stupid, but what does a classics degree involve?

I look back now and think I wasted three years of my life really. Had a great laugh and made some life-long friends but I just didn't appreciate what a luxury it was to be able to spend all my time reading brilliant books. Oh well, 'they' say that education is wasted on the young.

And on that note...it's home time!

charleypops · 16/02/2005 20:29

Morning Girls!

Dp and I have been snuggled up in bed with the dog practically all day glued to the first episode of 24 on the laptop. Just came downstairs to eat the dinner he made and when he gets back from the shop with my chocolate we'll be going back up there to continue watching it

Hope you're all having lovely mid-week evenings too and looking forward to Desperate Housewives later on!

Tessie - I found I didn't get anywhere nearly enough attention when I went brown and had to get it highlighted back again within a fortnight!

Wow! an october thread already

Has anyone else put a stone on yet? I was shocked last night to see that I have put on just OVER a stone, but his morning it was just a stone

Lippy, I had a massive iced bun this afternoon and TWO slices of hot chocolate fudge cake last night, so no, don't feel too bad about your extra afternoon teacake!

Hello Lollipop! congratulations on your girl!

chips and minstrals Jonah ?? Very strange...was that just for your benefit?

Lippy It's very straightforward - you just close the valves and unscrew the bits nearer the rad. It's messy - you'll need loads of towels and polythene, then you need to lift it off the brackets at the back. Mine was more complicated because I had exposed pipes to get rid off. I just followed the instructions in my Readers Digest DIY book but don't do what I did first and remove the whole of the valve Have a look here too

I find HSS very expensive, maybe you shoud shop around before going there to hire your sander. Some sanders have better extraction systems than others, but unfortunately it is unavoidably a dusty job. The best way to fill gaps is to mix PVA with sawdust (clean if possible) and kind of press it into the gaps horizontally so it sticks to the sides. It's a real pita, but very worthwhile. The best piece of advice I can give you for this job is to use a really good quality varnish. I would recommend Bonakemi Mega from these people . It's a two part varnish, but water based so not too pungent and will last years if you follow the instructions properly (don't scimp on layers)

CAT me if you get stuck

Tea! I don't believe for one moment you're only a B cup! You had a right pair of chihuahas down your top when I saw you!

I definitely have the most useless degree here - try Fine Art!!

LipstickMum · 16/02/2005 21:00

Morning I am about to hit the hay!

katzguk · 16/02/2005 21:02
