LOL!!! Well!! Where do I start??

Actually, I haven't got a clue what it would be like, but I do like my privacy and can be a bit of a control freak with my home So I probably wouldn't be a good companion!

Lua · 18/02/2005 12:27

Really interesting to hear about you guys moving out of England...
I just chose to move to England! So far is heaven compared to the usa, although I could do with a bit more space...
It is also a good compromise for me and my DH.
The british culture and life-style is more relaxed and more similar to my brazilian roots, but nottoo far from DH american life-style...
But ask me again in a couple of years... I have lived in 6 different countries, so a seventh will not bother me!

tribpot · 18/02/2005 12:27

Well Lippy I've been giving it some thought and I think we would all need to have our own space. I'm thinking about a group of houses, maybe with a communal eating area as well as having cooking facilities separately, with some land so we can grow our own veggies and stuff.

Before the pregnancy, dh and I had been looking at getting our day sailors 'badge' (possibly not the exact term) so we could hire boats for the weekend, but his health isn't really up to it alas Maybe next summer we can go sailing again with some friends of ours who have a 4-month-old. Not quite sure how it works when you have little ones but some friends of my parents did it when their kids were little, I think you just strap 'em on and hope for the best!

Hi All, sorry for not being in touch for a couple of days - boo to work!!

Mrs Wed - a classics degree is about all aspects of ancient greece and rome. Usually you have to do Greek or Latin or both as a language. I loved it, as you could pick out what interested you - history, literature, history of art, philosophy, theatre studies... you get the picture. Like I say, little use in the real world but fab fun.

Charley. ha ha. No. The pub laid on chips and sandwiches as part of the pub quiz (all for 50p - bargain). The minstrals came from a chocolate machine behind my head. Ooh, fine art degree. Fantastic. Almost less use than mine - you do have the potential of being the new damien hurst. How many famous classicists can you name?

KVG - I know what you mean about sitting down. I drove to essex and back yesterday, which was okay, but in the last 3 hours of M1 hell, i was being booted repetitively in the ribs and it started to really hurt.

Oh, and we've just had delivery of our new bed. It is HUGE. We really do have a bed-room now . But the main thing is it is SO comfortable (..starts staring off into mid-distance and dreaming of returning to welcoming arms of bed right now.........)

charleypops · 18/02/2005 13:36

Lippy - I can't sit up for more than half an hour at a time I get so breathless. So it's usually sying down or walking around (obviously, it's the former more often than the latter if I have anything to do with it)

KVG - I'm getting (at this point in time) a Jane Powertrack 360 or Jane Slalom. Yet to find a salesperson that can justify the hike in price from the 360 Powertrack to the Slalom, so probably go for the 360. Only downside is the colourways are a bit "groovy", I really wanted plain black, but they tick all my boxes apart from that.

Lol Trib - it was my dream to have a commune all the way through childhood until I realised what a pita living with other people is Dp and i did that day skipper course over a 5 day thingy a few years ago. He puked the WHOLE time, the skipper was a lush and we had such a horrible few days trying to keep it together on the yacht that when we set off to drive home we had the HUGEST row EVER and nearly broke up!

Ooh LIppy! you're so naughty! The wonderful Ellen McArthur is obviously a stunner and in no way is a lezza either!

Gosh Lua - you ARE well travelled! Where's the best place you've ever lived?

Jonah - I wish you hadn't mentioned Minstrels. Hmm... I was far more advanced than Damien Hurst. Before he became well known, I'd already pickled 200 dead goldfish and made jumping beans out of Prozac, oh and taken a torso cast from an armless model. I think he was spying on me....

charleypops · 18/02/2005 13:39

sying = lying

Where's Uwila and Teabelly? Scraggy's gone awol too...

lummox · 18/02/2005 13:40

you are making me worried - is the Jane better than the bugaboo?

charleypops · 18/02/2005 13:47

I almost decided on a Bugaboo, I really like them, but decided on a Jane because I'm quite "outdoorsy" and do a lot of dog walking over rough/muddy terrain and like to take the dog to the beach too so the Jane's wheels are better for that kind of stuff.

Also I want Pod to lie down flat in his car seat, so I was going to get a Matrix (lie-flat) car seat anyway, and this is included with the Jane travel system, so it works out considerable cheaper.

The Bugaboo is a great all rounder I think and small/light enough to take shopping etc. And cool of course

I hope it was a MASSIVE bag of Minstrels KVG

Here's a link for the matrix car seat , if you click on the link at the bottom, there's even more information.

Don't think they'll fit on the Buzz I'm afraid. Have you compared the Buzz by the way with the Stokke Xplory ? what did you think?

Is Welshie away too?

Afternoon ladies.

I'm going back quite a few posts, but good for you Lummox! Wish I was brave enough to do something like that but I'm not. My dad moved to France a couple of years ago (South West) and absolutely loves it. I'm hoping DS and baby will pick up the language through visiting him, love the idea of them being bi-lingual.

I've also put on a stone - I don't know why I keep torturing myself by weighing myself but it's just depressing after a while. Not depressing enough to stop me eating chocolate and cornish pasties (my lunch ).

Right, better be off - DS is ready for a trip to the park.

Have a good weekend everyone.x

JonahB · 18/02/2005 15:14

Oh g-d. No motivation to work at all.

KVG - this won't help you at all, but I went through stressful nightmares when I tried to decide which pram/buggy/car seat combination to go for. I did find out that everyone has strong opinions on every single brand (no insult at all to anyone here, i'm just as bad if not worse). For every brand you look at, half the women will say it saved their life, the other half said it was the worst money ever spent. My best advice is go to a shop where they stock a big range and try a few out. Oh, and check that the car seat fits into your car. I've had friends who have loved a system then found out it wouldn't fit securely in their car.

JonahB · 18/02/2005 15:15

Minstrals? I am so so jealous. Ordered DH not to come home without an M&S cake.....

Lua · 18/02/2005 16:08

Welshie posted in the stats thread - she couldn't get into out AGAIN gigantic thread...
546v messages in 9 days! Shall we start a new one and see if we can beat the record?!

LipstickMum · 18/02/2005 16:36

Did we start a new thread yet? Am I posting on the wrong one? Computer isn't loading htis one v well at the moment, which is unusual.

Trib, it's strictly my dp who is the sailor, I am sexy, first mate When I'm not puking that is Interesting how you've done some sailing too Charley!! Tbh I am a striclty 'fairweather sailor' Having had my sailing initiation in NZ, Tonga and Fiji, wearing litle more than a bikini and sarong, I would struggle with the Solent, north sea etc.!! Dp has done some courses, but got most of his seamiles skippering from NZ to the islands, so he's yet to formalise them into anything.

I know Charley, I'm such a bitch , but you know where I'm coming from!! I do admire Ellen a lot but she doesn't really do anything for me personality wise.

Nothing to add to the buggy talk, am still just ignoring my dilema

Oh dear, had a friend here for the day from London and she brought a dozen Krispy Kremes with her Only 7 to go!!!

Lua · 18/02/2005 16:39
