Hi everyone

Blimey, when you don't post for a day or 2 it's practically impossible to keep up!

My bump and pregnancy in general is exactly the same as last time. I'm 'all bump' and I think a bit bigger since my abs gave up the ghost after the last pregnancy I'm not watching what I eat, but not overdoing it either.

Tea, you are a weightwatchers person?? You didn't look like you needed to????

Charley!!! I need your help on DIY matters. I was going to put up a thread about it, but as I glanced down the posts, I saw you had done exactly what I was going to post about; replace a radiator??!!

I would like to replace all the radiators in the house eventually. But, to start off with, the radiator in our bedroom is broken. It has an airlock and when we tried to bleed it, the little screw has been sheared off (by previous owner)and it's impossble with any kind of tool! Our plumber said, we'll have to replace it. So, how does one go about it?! I'm assuming obvious things like, heating needs to be off, some water will dome out when you detach it from pipe etc. Any other tips?

I also wanted to pick your brains about sanding and re-sealing wooden floorboards. We want to do this in our through lounge and tiny hall. All the floorboards are very worn and have a slightly orange varnish on them, they could do with a bit of tlc. Is it very dusty? We were going to attempt to get a sander from HSS, or similar, and at least sand ourselves, but maybe get someone in to re-seal. It's a medium sized space. How much dust is there? If we have the energy I'd like to do it while the house is already in dis-array iykwim. Will just have to persuade dp!!

Sorry, lots of questions. Either answer briefly or email me so the others dont get bored

I have a very good Readers Digest DIY book I can also refer to for instructions and tips, but wanted the inside edge, from a pro

Oh I just hate skinny pregnant women, as well as skinny women with new borns. It's so unfair. But, Posh doesn't bother me too much because no matter how skinny she is she will always look (and act) like a monkey.

tribpot · 16/02/2005 09:51

Yes, not working is mostly great, although bear in mind that having no income wasn't really my plan for the months before having a baby. We have savings to live on (which actually mean I won't qualify for any maternity benefits, hey ho) but it's rather daunting.

However, in the spirit of economising, I wouldn't let dh buy me any flowers for Valentine's Day until yesterday - a dozen red roses from Sainsburys for 3 quid - bargs! The bloke on the checkout looked at him like "you cheap-a*se git" which we both found highly amusing. I offered to let him pay for them with Nectar points to really make the point, but he declined

LipstickMum · 16/02/2005 09:52

Congratulations on your girl Lollipop

Pink, don't get me started on being single and trying to find a man I have 2 friends in that postion and it takes all my counselling and life skills to support them and I still fall pitifully short! I just don't know what to do. I always feel a bit of a fraud telling them "it will happen". I met dp when I was 24 and 7 years later we're still happy with a growing family etc. Easy for me to say huh?

Ok am starving, see you in a while.

LipstickMum · 16/02/2005 09:55

Eeeuuuch!! I agree Uwila. I don't hate skinny women per se. But those who are skinny during pg and 6 weeks after birth drive me crazy. Psh is just plain weird whichever way you look at it. She needs a new image, she's too ott. And get rid of the fake hair puke! It's bad enough finding a stray, strangers hair on your clothes, let alone having it all on your own head. That just 'grosses me out' !!!

teabelly · 16/02/2005 09:59

Lippy - not need weightwatchers...you should have seen me 6 years ago!! Decided to do something drastic for then upcoming wedding, and have just followed it ever since, came down from a size 16 to a 12 and even if I say so myself was very pleased with myself

too many 'myself's in there!

does make extentions sound gross when you put it like that!

teabelly · 16/02/2005 10:05

Mrs W I'm getting most wriggling/kicking in pubic/lower tummy area, feels like someone's got herself stuck and can't get free, ha ha ha!

Uwila · 16/02/2005 10:09

I too forbid flower and present buying in the name of economising. DH violated the request. And when I spotted the flowers in my bedroom I said, "I see a budget violation" No idea why he was surprised/disappointed at the reaction. He's always blowing the budget and then saying "But I did it for you." But I don't want it/them never enters the equation.

I'm struggling with the fact that my DH does not comprehend that if you spend what you have, you will have nothing to spend.

GRRRRR... okay, rant over.

LipstickMum · 16/02/2005 10:24

I just got dd's voucher. Now all I have to do is work out where to put it #yawn#

katzguk · 16/02/2005 10:25

i'm not a skinny pregnant women - just one who replaces fat with baby for the first 6 months! i retain my size 14 figure!!! well size 14 middle and size 6/18 top i do have huge boobs!! which actually helps make my bump look smaller, my current bras are the nursing ones i had when feeding DD because the maternity ones from my first PG don't fit, i'm too big for them, i'm currently wearing a 36G and was before this PG a 34F!!! but before DD was only a 34E i#m hoping upon hope that this time my boobs will get smaller after they have to right? although big boobs is a licence for a big bum!!

lipstick - CTF? ahhhhhhhhhhhh can't decide, if you send for natwest info they'll send you a £5 toys r us voucher. i think we're going to go with nationwides normal account (non-stakeholder)

teabelly · 16/02/2005 10:30

E's, F's G's!! I still fit into most of my 36B's!!! Did go up to a DD when my milk came in with ds...although as I bottle fed they went away again within 3 weeks!

MrsWednesday · 16/02/2005 10:35

I'm in a B cup too (overspilling a bit but being too tight/skint to buy bigger!).

I've got my CTF voucher too, it's just sitting in a drawer as I haven't got the faintest idea about the best account to get.

LipstickMum · 16/02/2005 10:35

Thanks Katz. I guess I just need to put my mind to it, but I really can't be bothered. We already have a couple of savings/investment things set up for dd, so feel a bit 'spent' on that front!!

LipstickMum · 16/02/2005 10:36

I'm really not that interested in some of the crappy incentives either, I can live without a cuddly toy, made for 7p in a sweatshop in Asia.

katzguk · 16/02/2005 10:37

lucky you, i'd love smaller boobs, i have lovely ridges on my shoulders from my boulder holders!!!! a nice 34D yep thats what i'd like!

It's a shame Uwila - he obviously means well but how can you enjoy them properly if you're gritting your teeth about keeping within budget?

KVG - the time off is voluntary (ish), if not planned. What happened was, last summer I started looking for permie jobs as a prelude to getting pregnant. Was offered one locally but I know the firm and wasn't v confident about how long before the next round of redundancies. Was offered one elsewhere, less money but more stable. Fortunately before I started, a friend of mine did and found out we'd been completely conned as to the nature of the jobs, hours expected, etc. So I turned them down too. Back to no job.

So I decided to go back to Sweden to my old contract, but got pregnant immediately. Obviously - hurrah for that, but that left me mightily under-the-weather, with a sick dh, who was very unhappy being there. The travelling is exhausting at the best of times - on top of morning sickness and fatigue it was impossible. I couldn't face cooking, dh was too ill to do cooking or shopping and we couldn't eat out because of his food intolerances. Plus I was really worried about having to deal with a miscarriage so far away from home. In the end, I decided to call it a day and come back to the UK.

So far I haven't had any luck getting a short-term contract, and time is running out now! But the hassle of trying to accommodate dh's needs if I did get work (which wouldn't be local) almost makes it easier just not to work for the moment. I sort of wish I'd taken the first permie job I was offered last summer, but that's not how things have worked out, so what can you do.

MrsWednesday · 16/02/2005 10:39

Small but saggy....not an attractive look, let me tell you

(I'm fairly sure you really don't want to know that, but hey!)

katzguk · 16/02/2005 10:39

we're not either but you don't have to take the natwest's account to get the voucher, just ask for the info. We're going nationwide because they have the best interest rate for the non stakeholder option (5% if you add nothing but 1% bonus if you add more than £240 a year for the life of the CTF so that would be an interest rate of 6%)

I can only dream of 34D #looks wistfull# Although I think in reality, they would totally piss me off re sport, exercise etc. I have swollen A's/mini B's. Although if Teabelly says she is still in a B cup, I must actually be AA or getting into negative numbers or something !!!
