had a nightmare day sorting out all my bank details and the upshot is ive had to close 2 of my accounts and ive an appointment at one of their branches tomorrow to open 2 more accounts.everything's got to be transferred over but the good news is i get paid on friday so i'll have that monet to tide me over with
apparently i'll have to wait about 10 days while they investigate and re-imburse the money-never mind!!!
teabelly, yes i did say i may come to the next meet up but im still scared(lol!!!)so i'll have a think about it-ha ha!!
dont worry about the diabetes tests-i hate needles too but if its gotta be done then so be it
charley, glad to hear the seeds are working and how funny about your scan picture-mine is exactly the same with those big black holes for eyes-infact little oscar looks like an alien
i got 2 pictures of my scan(one for my mum!)but was a bit disappointed that they were identical and trib, mine were also £3 each.

welshmum · 09/02/2005 19:46

Wow I turn my back for one day and there are all those lovely boys announced (not to imply that girls aren't gorgeous becaue they undoubtedly are) - What's in the water??? Well done Lummox for your delurk - I think we're all quite lovely on here.
Lippy where are you with your scan details - hope all was ok - will check later.
I'm not around much over the next couple of days so will have a novel to read next week no doubt x

JonahB · 09/02/2005 20:07

Okay. You?ve gone and done it again. I don?t log on for a couple of days (working very long hours and want to cry) and then you all go and hide on another thread. Far, far too much for me to read, so I?ve skimmed for the good bits, like??

Trib/Lummox/Bubb ? congrats on your boys!!!!!!

Uwila, apologies. Clearly you are totally on the ball and aren?t suffering preg brain like me. It?s a good job I know the difference between a c/section and an epidural! Please ignore my mad ramblings in future. It would be for the best?..

Back to an old discussion for a moment, Lua ? I?m on BUPA. The only feedback I can give you is that if (touch wood it doesn?t happen) your health does go seriously wrong, they will cover the lot as long as there hasn?t been a previous claim. About 10 years ago, I was seriously ill. The NHS couldn?t work out what the problem was, so I was admitted to a private hospital. I spent 3 days in intensive care and another month in there, with regular brain and heart scans. BUPA paid for the lot (we?re talking five figures here). I have nothing but respect for the NHS, but it was reasurring for me to have a ?support? there, which had the resources and time to look into the problem when the sh*t really did hit the fan. Now, I guess after what happened to me (which, I?ll be honest, scared the pants off me and all those close to me),I continue to pay it. It costs far too much, but for peace of mind, I need the insurance to be there, should I ever need it again. That?s probably of little use, but these private insurances, much as they charge exhorbitantly, do have their uses.

Lua · 09/02/2005 20:39

Ok lippy you are starting to worry me! do update us!!!

Mrs. F. Hope all is okay with your fluids! Do let us know when you have a chance.

Jonah - Glad to hear all of your ordeal was mostly a big scare.
Regarding NHS vs. private I thought it was on the emergency thing that NHS came through... am I being naive?
I would mostly like to have abit more of control over the things the NHS decide is not urgent IYKWIM.... but maybe I am dreaming of the insurances in the USA (it sucks if you don't have a good employer, but if you do is very nice!)

Tessiebear · 09/02/2005 20:41

Lippy - really worrying here too - hope you are ok

mrsflowerpot · 09/02/2005 20:47

Hello, I'm here, just actually been working last few days for a change .

This really is a boys club isn't it! still no idea what mine is but think I might be bringing up the numbers on the girls if my instincts are to be trusted (they usually aren't though). Next scan is Friday when they are checking my fluid levels, getting a bit nervy now but nothing like as bad as dh who is really stressed about the whole thing.

Hope everyone is well, right back to work, hate deadlines but cannot seem to plan for them month after month after month.

teabelly · 09/02/2005 20:56

Just checking to see if Lippy had posted...still waiting...hope all is ok, starting to get worried now...

Megi your birthday meal sounds great, hope you enjoy it...and any place that gives you two desserts has to be good!!

Mrs F - glad to hear from you - sorry you're working so hard, but keep us posted when you can. Hope your instincts are right we def. need to up the girlie quota

Update on ds's 'winky' problems of last week...they do appear to have been, ahem, the start of a beautiful new friendship On the plus side tho he's very keen to advance on the potty training as it gives his new friend more 'free time' than being in pull ups did!!

It's funny you should say about checking the old lists Charley...during my boredom period today I was doing the same...there's so many people who started off posting and then drifted away...Miss Tuesday, Happymumxxx, JennyWren, NQWWW, Yellowbelly, Binatracy to name but a few...if you're lurking girls hope all is ok with you.

JonahB · 09/02/2005 21:17

Lua, I?m trying to be tactful here, maybe this is one to discuss at our meet-up. I must repeat that I think the NHS are fantastic. I agree with you, the old adage is that in an emergency, the NHS is better than private and that you go private for non-emergency treatments and operations as the queue is much shorter. I can only speak for what happened to me. Sometimes, through no fault of any dr/nurse etc, they don?t have the resources at their disposal to offer the emergency tests that are sometimes required. A small eg ? they tried to put a drip into me in the ambulance when I was unconscious. My DH told me a year later that the first 3 fluid bags the ambulance team grabbed were not of usable quality. It was the 4th and final one that was usable. At the hosp, they couldn?t find any cause for what happened to me (I had blacked out, my heart had stopped beating and my limbs froze up) and just sent me home. That scares me.

Can I also point out here that this was 10 years ago, that I am absolutely fine both physically and psychologically, there was no long term damage and I was getting on with my normal life within a few months, before I worry any of you.

Sorry to be contentious about the NHS guys, that is absolutely not my intention???..

charleypops · 09/02/2005 21:30

Tea, I have a list ready to copy here, but I made a list of people from the first thread who don't seem to post anymore. They are

Yellowbelly
Happymumxxx
MissTuesday
NQWWW
Binatracy
Jennywren
Lollienoodles
Lollipoplady
Georgesmummy
MaxN21
pandagirl03
zephyrcat

In case any of you are lurking, I hope all's going well!

MrsWednesday · 09/02/2005 21:40

JonahB, it sounds like you went through an awful ordeal, it's not surprising that you want to have some additional insurance with private healthcare. I get it through work, and I agree with you, it is reassuring to know it's there. Having said that, I've never had any issues with the NHS - my mum had several fairly major illnesses before she died and they were incredible with her throughout it all.

Getting worried about Lippy too now - she wasn't intending to do anything after her scan was she?

MrsF, sorry you're so busy at work. I'm the same - Teabelly has offered her services as she isn't busy, so chuck some her way . Are you going to find out whether your hunch is right at your next scan? Will keep everything crossed that there isn't anything for you and your DH to worry about.

Megi, happy birthday for Friday. Sounds like a great night ahead. Food is very important to us pregnant ladies - hope you get two puddings this time round. Me and DH are going out for a meal this weekend, a belated wedding anniversary night out - can't wait, we hardly ever get out these days.

katzguk · 09/02/2005 21:42

katzguk · 09/02/2005 21:44

OP posts:
teabelly · 09/02/2005 21:46

Great news Lippy - was getting a bit worried...but don't leave us in suspense...did you find out?? Does my little girl have a play mate??

teabelly · 09/02/2005 21:52

Lippy.............you still there???? Only have 10 mins til I have to go and catch Desperate housewives...spill the beans if you can.....

charleypops · 09/02/2005 22:07

Oh Lippy, I'm so happy! GREAT NEWS

Uki · 10/02/2005 02:04

Hi
Just thought I'd type a message before there's a new thread . I reakon i'm having a boy now because of you all. It is weird all the babies i known born in Feb so far are girls 3 i know of!!!!
I am off to the clinic in an hour, no scan just check up. Have finally signed up for ante-natal classes was uming and ahring about them> Are they embaarressing coz i get embaarresed easy can't handle dirty jokes, don't even get ones kids tell me!!!
But i thought if i'm going pain free i need to know as much as i can. In Oz they have had more sucess with pain free in country hospitals where they teach breathing and have midwives that talk you through the pain. The rate of pain free births in city hospitals is only 3% isn't that low?
In country areas 28%
Anyway congrat's on all the boys at least they'll have plenty of boy playmates .
bye for now Uki

Uwila · 10/02/2005 06:36

What Lippy, Aren't yougoing to tell us? After all our waiting and worrying.... what's the sex?

Glad of course that all is well.

welshmum · 10/02/2005 07:37

Hooray, I win first post in the morning! How likely was that. Was just checking up on you Lippy - glad everything went well with the scan.
If anyone's looking for a scrumptious breakfast to try - a big blob of greek yogurt, fresh blueberries and raspberries, some hazlenuts and drizzle of runny honey...fab
Anyone else finding their food needs changing again? I literally can't bear any sort of bread product near me - even the smell of toast but am develpoing a fruit fixation....maybe it's just me.
Have a great day - I'm working out of my office all day so won't be around until later x

welshmum · 10/02/2005 07:38

How dopey am I? I don't win anything at all.....apart from a prize for over-excitable daftness

katzguk · 10/02/2005 09:08

welshmum - eating fruit and craving it is supposed to be a sign of having a girl -so are you? just to see if the old wives tale is true, it certainly was when i was PG with DD couldn't get enough fruit!!

OP posts:
Tessiebear · 10/02/2005 09:10

Wow thats weird - i am the fruit and salad queen at the moment! (never craved it with DS's)

katzguk · 10/02/2005 09:12

its just an old wives tale but it one that the saying ' sugar and spice and all things nice thats what little girls are made of' comes from eg sweetcravings for a girl and savoury for a boy. i went off crisps, peanuts and all savoury snacky things with DD and truely could eat a whole fruit bowl of fruit in one hour!!

OP posts:
Tessiebear · 10/02/2005 09:21

saying that i have also had a major "anchovy" craving!!!!

katzguk · 10/02/2005 09:22

oh well can't help there!! not sure what sweet and savoury means -normal
