I had to bite my tongue a bit at the weekend about comments on my bulge. I was spending time with DHs family who are all either overweight or have huuge beer bellies. Not sure I look any more pregnant than any of them, esp. the blokes

kmp1 · 28/07/2008 17:33

Hi Zoejeanne,
I'm in Wimbledon / Raynes Park, how bout you?

Verso · 28/07/2008 19:26

Hi kmp1. Until last year I was in Streatham - but now out towards Sutton, in Carshalton. It's officially Surrey (la-de-dah) but I reckon it's still sarf Lunnen reely. How are you?

How's everyone managing with the heat? It's been a bit of an ordeal today. Only one of my three trains home tonight had air conditioning . Had to keep spraying myself liberally with water aerosol on the walk to the house!

Had a very busy weekend - not just with the meet-up - had my oldest friend staying (ie that I've known the longest - not that she's ancient or anything!) and her 6 year old son who is a complete sweetie. Big bbq on Saturday afternoon - perfect weather for it - not too hot not too cold. Then yesterday her brother came over and we all sat in the shade as it was TOO HOT. Got the ballpit/sandpit turtle filled up with a bit of water and wished it was bigger so I could have fitted inside!

Veggiemummy · 28/07/2008 20:00

went to shops to pick up bread & milk but was really hungry so now i'm munching on oven baked chips....and will be having fruit iced lolly soon.

oh they keep having those dogs home & NSPCC ads, just makes me cry, last pregnancy i made DH sign us up for direct debits to the water aid people, the battersea dogs home, dogs trust NSPCC and sponsor a child through Plan.

daisydora · 28/07/2008 20:09

Oh I'm so glad its not just me feeling like a lardy bum then

I don't care anymore, although my dad called me 'tubs' tonight!!!! FGS I'm pregnant not fat (well maybe getting a bit of both). Although I've not had any crisps today and am feeling very proud of myself. But I think its because its just too damn hot to eat! Have been sat with feet in DD's paddling pool most of afternoon, and they still look huge!!!

pixsix · 28/07/2008 20:26

I've been in maternity trousers since about 14 weeks! I think I'm definitely in the pregnant and fat group.

My husband has brought home a fan and I'm just vegging out in front of it. It's soooo lovely not to be boiling!

mibbes · 28/07/2008 20:50

Welcome new ladies

SummerLightning lucky you ! Maybe you'll look more PG in a week or 2 - I am due 2 weeks before you and didn't look PG until about 2-3 weeks ago - just chubby ! Now I have a proper 'pregnant lady' bump !

OMG I am so glad am not the only one with swollen ankles - I just noticed the other day and was horrified as thought this happened in the latter stages !

Purple my DP does exactly the same - every evening and morning he comments on how massive I look and the other day he actually rolled about laughing at the size of my boobs and bump - Thanks a lot darling !

Ordered my pram today - DP gave his seal of approval on Sat so we went ahead and ordered it ! And yesterday we ordered nursery furniture - white cot-bed, wardrobe and dresser .

Veggiemummy · 28/07/2008 20:58

i think it's mostly the heat, i didn't get swollen feet last time until right at the end but had DS in summer so thats probably why.

Veggiemummy · 28/07/2008 22:07

oh my goodness even Dragons den is making me cry.....

katie3677 · 29/07/2008 08:49

Everything is making me cry at the moment too. My poor 3 year old DS even tried to put me to bed last night because I was crying so much and when he asked what was wrong I said it was because Mummy was tired. He's so sweet.
Verso I used to live in Carshalton, although where we were was definitley not lah di da! Are you going to St Heliers then? I know it looks hideous, but I had DS there and the midwife team couldn't have been nicer, really fantastic lot.

JamInMyWellies · 29/07/2008 08:55

Mibbles you are so organised DS is still in our cot so will tackle the move to a toddler bed and swap cot into nursey in Nov. We too have our buggy P&T vibe should arrive this wk. Got to bless the MIL who gave us some money towards it thank god as we were on tesco blue and white if she hadnt.

Veggie I have a bit of a crush on james Caan its they way he strokes his beard

Bloody Nora it was hot last night DS bedroom temp thing was reading 29degrees when we went to bed poor soul is going to bed with just his sheet grobag and nothing else and he is still all sweaty.

Off to mums and tots this morning its a godsend only thing still running throughout the summer hols.

Oh and on the bump things and stupid caring things our DP's say we went to bed the other night took off my bra and DP nearly fell out of bed he was laughing so much at my boobs and this morning he very nicely said bloody nora you are getting huge.

artichokes · 29/07/2008 09:19

Morning All

London girls - I am soooo sorry. I thought I had posted ages ago on the meet-up thread to say that I could not do last Firday as it was mine and DH's first EVER weekend of freedom. We went to a wedding in Devon and DD stayed with her grandparents for the first time (it was utter bliss). I am really sorry that you were expecting me . If you meet again I will make sure I am there.

LadyT - I know its belated but I just wanted to say how pleased I was to read that your baby's nose was alright.

This is just a quick post as I am off to the hospital for my 20 week NHS appointment (last week's scan was private). I am all sunburnt from Devon - anyone else finding they burn more easily in pregnancy? I was doused in suncream but clearly need a higher SPF.

We are off to Cornwall with DD on Thursday. Away for 2.5 weeks. Sooooo excited.

xx

Purple79 · 29/07/2008 09:54

Morning,

Alot cooler today, bliss.

artichokes Yep, tanning alot quicker now im pregnant. Went to see my mum in the Bahamas at the beginning of the month and burned quite quickly, wasn't in the sun that long either.

Good luck with the scan today

pixsix · 29/07/2008 10:03

Mmmmm it's so much nicer today and I slept so much better with the fan on tonight.

artichokes hope your hospital appointment goes well. I'm off to the hospital this afternoon too, have to have a booking in appointment as i have only just moved back to London. Am looking forward to seeing the hospital where my baby will be born.

Hope everyone has good days.

Beans33 · 29/07/2008 10:21

Hi everyone. Back from the Wirral and back at work. Had a wedding yesterday and left at 10.30 - back to place we were staying at 11.30 and asleep by midnight. BUT were up at 4am this morning for a flight from Manchester to London. I'm not going to last much longer. Honestly, if I'd done this before being pregnant, I'd be ok.

I can't believe that it makes such a massive difference, but the room is even spinning I'm so tired. Eyes are all hot and hurty and I am dreaming of bed... Can't wait!

You've had a busy few days - been reading quickly through to catch up.

I'm in Battersea...

Whoa, sleeeeeeeeeeep...

Veggiemummy · 29/07/2008 11:15

oh Beans you poor thing. i slept well until 3am but then woke up and could't get back to sleep, this seems to be happening a lot lately. But good news DH is back early from working away this week as can do the rest of the work from home so he will take DS to nursery in the morning so can have a little sleep in and DS is going to friends to play this afternoon so will tear around and get housework done so can do the long Tara Lee prenatal yoga session tomorrow YAY.

has anyone ever done prenatal aqua aerobics the have it at a pool up the road but i keep thinking of the normal aqua classes i've seen which are always large old ladies, is the antenatal any good, is it an actual workout?

Jam i am going to be giggling everytime i see James Caan stroke his beard. I quite like him but i can't stand Theo & Derbra Meaden. The one down the end that is on the BT ads that wears the funny socks, he gave a chance to a young designer lastnight who was obviously motvated but left to her own devices with no money would not do well, they all wanted to help her but knew it was adodgy investent but he actually gave her more than she wanted and it was so lovely i cried. oh it's tearing me up thinking about it.

SummerLightning · 29/07/2008 11:23

Veggiemummy - a friend of mines wife runs prenatal aqua aerobics, she told me as I am quite active not to go until the end, as I would prob not find it active enough, so I think in the case of her classes at least it is gentle exercise to do when you are massive and just being in the water and having the weight taken off is a relief, but then others may be different? You could try it, or try normal aqua aerobics?? They had that at the pool the other day when I was swimming and it looked quite good fun, but that one was not all old ladies!

re Dragons Den, does anyone else think Debra Meaden may have had some surgery done on her face since the last episode?? She doesn't look as wrinkly! (still annoying though)

rosmerta · 29/07/2008 11:58

You know, Summer I thought the same about Debra Meaden. Don't mind Theo so much but dh & I think there could be something going on with Debra & Theo, they're always so willing to partner up with each other! Duncan gets on my nerves though, he always has something nasty to say.

Am so glad its cooler today, slept a lot better last night!

missmama · 29/07/2008 12:54

Hi All

I thought I would try to join back in with everything again.
I am now 19 weeks and have convinced myself that after a very bad start I am going to have this baby and want to start enjoying my pregnancy now we have actually started to tell people about the baby.

Veggiemummy · 29/07/2008 12:57

OMG that is a horrible thought Theo & Derbra. His teeth really annoy me, you would think with all that money he could do something about that overbite.

DS and i just made spring rolls, i always do the wrong thing and make too many and instead of just cooking enough for him & freezing the rest i always cook them all. i made about 15 this time, he inhaled 5 of them but then was too full for anymore and i had to eat the rest...oh well, no worse than the 4 kiddies iced lollies i ate last night.

mibbes · 29/07/2008 13:08

veggie I was trying to work out what on earth made you cry on Dragon's Den but that makes sense now - she was quite clued up that girl ! I thought Duncan was funny with his method of controlling his children's TV time ! Yuck at Debra and Theo together ! and double yuck at strokey-beard man !
Good luck with scan ladies - look forward to hearing how you got on

LadyThompson · 29/07/2008 13:13

Good to see you Missmama. Thanks Artichokes, glad you are ok!

Who had the sinus infection? Was it Chutney Mary? My dodgy, pregnancy inflamed sinuses got infected and I have now got a chest infection and I am coughing like a seal. I've got antibiotics. It also feels like I've got a stinking cold and I feel grotty.

Furthermore, having thought the drama of the nasal bone was all finished with, saw the obstetrician this morning and she said that we now have to address my low level of PAPP-A (a growth hormone) in the first trimester, as it could lead to low birth weight, early delivery and all sorts of funnies. Got to have a blood flow test in 2 or 3 weeks. Anyone had this? I think it tests blood flow to the placenta. I might start a thread about it.

Veggiemummy · 29/07/2008 13:13

Hello Missmama i don't think we ever were on at the same time when you initially posted. Hope everything ok now, when is your next scan?

Verso · 29/07/2008 13:17

Am feeling awful today but don't know what it is: nausea, stomach cramps, vomiting and sort of spaced out. Unfortunately have a major HR issue to sort out today so I can't leave my deputy in charge and go home... Went to the sick room this morning and had 40 winks after being copiously sick in the bin. Nice! I know it's not the bbq we had at the weekend as I was fine yesterday... but wonder if it could have been the heat yesterday that triggered something?

katie yes I'm going to St Helier. I have to say I've tried to look past the decor. The first few times I visited I was quite shocked - but the EPAU people are so kind and compassionate (I had an ERPC there last year) in comparison to any other hospital I've been in. In fact ALL the staff I've met have been wonderful so far. I'm glad to hear you had a good experience there too.

LadyThompson · 29/07/2008 13:18

Sorry you're feeling rough as well, Verso. What a shame you can't go home. I've got a fiver change for you, btw, from Friday, which I will pop in the post.
