gr8 news spink congrats on a girl
scans r meant to be 95% accurate

Spink · 27/08/2008 11:47

aw thanks tink!!

oddly, this talk of maternity clothes has made me yearn for a pair of maternity dungarees. Now, I have always boaked at them in the past, but I'm thinking - I probably won't be pg again - and surely mat dungarees are a kind of rite of passage? and I must wear them while I have the chance?? Anyone seen any??

buckles · 27/08/2008 12:04

No dont do it spink- surely you will regret it....

MissHairspray · 27/08/2008 12:22

Oh no Spink, step away from the dungarees, they will be so comfy you won't wear anything else!
I have bought quite a few bits from topshop online and they have all been good so far, although i'm not sure whether they will still fit when I get really big. I too have had that sudden weight-gain thing, last friday I had a neat baby bump and felt quite good in my maternity clothes, now I have a huge bum, puffy bloated face and my upper arms are looking decidedly chunky. My friends think its hilarious as they all thought I would be one of those skinny minnies who look totally the same except for a cute little bump. I am liking the new cleavage though, for once I actually look better in just my underwear that when i'm fully clothed.
Scan tomorrow - we're going to find out if we can!

tinkcantwaittofindoutboyorgirl · 27/08/2008 13:46

good luck with scan tom miss hairspray

tokentotty · 27/08/2008 13:48

Congrats on all the scans so far ! I've got mine tomorrow too MissHairspray and have already started with my usual pre-scan jitters. Not decided yet about finding out the sex but even if we do I'm going to tell all in RL that we didn't.

MissHairspray · 27/08/2008 14:13

Thanks good luck too Tink and TokenTotty

moosemama · 27/08/2008 15:35

Hi

Congratulations to everyone on their scans. Am getting excited about mine tomorrow afternoon - even overheard DH telling his friend he is excited about it so he's finally getting used to the idea!

Quick question, I've been having what I assume are braxton hicks over the past couple of weeks. My bump tightens up like braxtons but I get a sort of stitch, cramp like pain at the same time. The pain is usually right at the top of my bump and although usually mild has occasionally taken my breath away (usually when I have been doing too much).

Has anyone else experienced this? Am not desperately worried as there is no cramping in my abdomen and haven't had any other warning signs. I will of course mention to my mw on my next visit next week (not sure if I will get to see anyone but sonographer tomorrow).

Also, on a lighter note, what is everyone craving these days? For me its malt loaf smothered in butter, think it could be the B vitamins in the malt extract. (Forgot to take my floradix on holiday with me!) Also have a thing for giant bowls of branflakes mixed with loads of chopped up strawberries and a chopped banana - ooh yum, think I will have to go and have one of those right now!

tinkcantwaittofindoutboyorgirl · 27/08/2008 15:43

good luck to u all those having scans tom
sounds like u r craving healthy thinks mm i am craving dolly mixtures, semolina with chocolate nesquik in.

moosemama · 27/08/2008 15:46

Thanks tink.

I'm only craving healthy this week. Was dairy milk, chipsticks and Green and Black's chocolate spread on toast last week!

tinkcantwaittofindoutboyorgirl · 27/08/2008 16:28

hi

for those who have found out gender do you know what day you ovulated and what day you conceived

Spink · 27/08/2008 18:57

moosemama - I'm stealing one of ds' bananas and off to dig out bran flakes. YUM.
My bump has been tightening every now and again too, but no pain - but then my brax hicks weren't painful last pg, lots of people's are aren't they, and can be pretty uncomfy, so that could be what is happening for you.

tink - sorry, I have NO IDEA about ovulation & conception dates I'm afraid. I'm a bit pants when it comes to dates. Still haven't put my edd back by two days on the thread list... and I found out that I needed to at the 12 week scan!

MissHairspray & tokentotty good luck tomorrow!
and MissH, buckles - ANYONE! - come on, there is SOMETHING appealing about the idea of dungarees, isn't there?? I mean, not for going out in public (obviously ), but pottering round the house, going for a stroll in beautiful autumn woodland (ha ha)...

morning

good luck with all your scan today
mine is tomorrow

i am 20weeks today time has flown by

MissHairspray · 28/08/2008 09:44

Actually spink I am quite drawn to dungarees too, I have visions of putting them on and running through hay meadows with a sexy american farm hunk also in dungarees. Unfortunately I know they will look totally hideous on me and probably kill poor dhs sex drive stone dead so I am resisting the urge. There also aren't many poppy fields in east london. But you go for it!

rrrayray · 28/08/2008 10:14

Congrats spink.... i'm sure our scan will kick start us into action tomorrow.

I'm off to bluewater today to treat myself to a few maternity bits and bobs. i'm still not in maternity clothes, so think its about time i got me some. I'm living in a pair of jeans that are just soooooooo low i could prob go the whole hog in them (provided my Bum doesnt grow at same rate as bump!!)

wishful thinking!

Spink · 28/08/2008 10:16

running? that's far too ambitious for me. and frankly sounds a little dangerous
I can only find 2 dungarees out there in shop-land, and neither look particularly great

mothercare

la redoute

how long do you think I can hold out??

Looking forward to hearing about scans later - fingers crossed for youxx

hi i'm new to this thread and quite new to mumsnet.
21 weeks pregnant today and scan tomorrow. ds born may 07 and has measles. a week of confinement and hubbie working long hours has made me seek interaction with adults anyway i can!

mppaw · 28/08/2008 13:28

Hi qumps....Hope DS is not too ill and you are bearing up. Am also new here too, 19 weeks, due 18th Jan. Do you think you will find out what if it is pink or blue at your scan tomorrow ?

tinkistwentyweeksandhasscantom · 28/08/2008 13:42

welcome qumps snap both have our scan tom i am 20 wks today so we are excatly a week ahead of each otherwe are hoping to find out the gender
sorry to hear that ds is ill

moosemama · 28/08/2008 19:07

Hi all and welcome qumps and mppaw (did I miss you arriving - haven't caught up on thread since holiday).

Well .....

Scan was great, sonographer was heavily pregnant herself and so very tuned into what its like for us and really helpful. She talked us through every check and went all out to find out the gender desipite a very uncooperative baby!

All is well, no problems spotted, bubs spent a lot of time thumb sucking and as it was new equipment it was really clear you could see the thumb inside the mouth and the sucking motion - soooo cute. (Got piccy of the thumb sucking, but as haven't managed to put on my 12wk scan picture yet, don't hold yer breath. )

And ........................ ITS A GIRL!

She said they are not allowed to say its 100% but she showed us the relevant 'ahem' bits (or not as the case may be) and said to be honest there's not much mistaking things, its pretty clear.

I was so gobsmacked I nearly fell of the bench! A GIRL! As DH said, "we don't do girls, what do you do with them?"

DS1 and 2 are ecstatic and were so excited when I told them at 3.30pm that they haven't calmed down yet - been crazies all afternoon!

Mum and my Step Gran were looking after the boys and they are really chuffed its a girl - Mum says it evens up the score as she will now have 3 grandsons and 3 granddaughters!

Good luck for tomorrow tink, qumps and anyone else having their scans. Enjoy it, it was a lovely experience, by far the best of all 3 pregnancies and that includes the 3D/4D one we paid for last time.

MissHairspray · 28/08/2008 19:39

Congrats Moosemamma that is great news.

Our scan went fine too and ...its a boy! We are both chuffed and went straight out to mammas and pappas to get some cute boy clothes.
The scan itself was a bit confusing this time round, I kept nodding and going 'I see' when the sonographer pointed stuff out but to be honest I didn't have a clue, apart from when he showed me a leg and then the face which kept suddenly appearing with huge eyes (a bit gollum-like if i'm honest but we will love him anyway . The pics are a bit like Monet paintings - you can only make them out if you stand far away and squint!
Little babs looked healthy though (i'm told) so it is all good, and they have put my dd fwd by a day.
Good luck for the rest of you
