I would like to join the insomniacs. I was up at 2.30am. Have been up at 3am and 4 am in the last week aswell.
Sorry about Toollys dad.

MerryMarigold · 17/07/2008 08:39

Just had a quick scan, need to read more later. Went to see Lion King with sister last night (my late bday present) and it was f.a.n.t.a.s.t.i.c. I can't recommend it highly enough. We were miles away in the gods (you can get seats for 20quid there!) but we had a brilliant view and it was so lovely. Had a nice meal out too, which she paid for, so I wasn't worrying about money . Perfect. Only thing that slightly spoiled it was the lady sitting next to me said, "When are you due? Don't say last week!" Thanks! I have stopped 'explaining' my size by twins and just say 'No, actually, November." It's a classic to see people's faces [naughty grin face!].

Ah, misdee, you have explained to me why I can't bend! I have a low baby as they are both lying sideways so my dear daughter is right down the bottom across the bottom of my belly. I wish they'd shift!

Catch up laters...

mum2becks · 17/07/2008 08:43

sorry to hear everyone is having trouble sleeping, I was doing really well but last few nights I have gone back to needing a wee in the night and then cant get back to sleep so looks like we are all suffering

It sounds like quite a few of you have made decisions on names, I wish I had we really cant decide on any names that we both like, which is the opposite with dd we had decided on her name really early on and I loved it (which I think is part of the problem I havent found a name that I really love!)

Hope everyone has a good day today

bubbaz · 17/07/2008 08:44

Toolly hope your dad is OK and you manged to calm down.
Twinkling hope you manae to get some sleep soon, I'm usually awake a coupl of times a night but only for 20 mins or so - Is bad enought though and I really feel for al of you that can't sleep.
My DS is a really good talker and like Daisy I could quite happily gag him. BF has 2 ids one was really advanced the other is 3 and only says things in spanish that Dora the explorer says! They all seem so different its hard to tell what is normal.
Hope everyone is well today and that the weather is nice - which it is not here

Yorky · 17/07/2008 09:14

Hello everyone
Dozy I'm glad the CD is helpin gyou relax even if you're not sleeping - I hope that improves soon
Tooly, how is your Dad?
HM2J glad the scan are saying good things so far
DS loved camping at the end of May
DS woke at about 445, and when I got back to bed bump was really active - I think it must have been comfy till I got up and was trying to get back as before!
Have fun

toolly · 17/07/2008 10:08

My dad's OK. The car actually hit him, but he just has a bruised knee so he's very lucky. The guy had over a £1000 quid in the car so when he tried getting away my dad told him to stay put. Because he's middleeastern we had the bomb people around as well looking at the car and sealing the road. Interesting to see what he will be charged with (if he does). Hopefully we'll find out his health status re HIV and Hepatitis so my dad won't have to go on the antivirals.
It's quite reasurring how quickly all the emergency services appeared and calmly they dealt with the situation. DS was impossible to put to bed, not surprised with all three emergency service vehicles with blue lights flashing just outside his window.
Insomniac ladies, something hot and milky to drink or a very very very boring book. I was unable to sleep one night last week. Perhaps it's your body getting used to sleep deprivation!
Well I hope everyone has a lovely CALM day today!

Oblomov · 17/07/2008 10:21

God Toolly, that all sounds quite mad.

I am still stripping wallpaper. Plasterer comes on sat. Which is our wedding anniversary. We are booked into very posh meal. We may be too cream crackered.
Plus, I have bedroom furniture dilema going on. Which I have just had a littel cry about. I feel quite cheery. But then I go and cry over the slightest thing.
God I feel so hormonal. I hate this.

LackaDAISYcal · 17/07/2008 10:27

gah toolly, I totally missed your post last night

sorry to hear about your Dad, and that the guy bit him...wtf? fingers crosssed for all the bloods and stuff.

sleeping ok so far here, but I've been going to bed really late so that might explain that bit.

I was bad with DS (spent whole nights sat up in bed knitting and even started and finished a little cardi in one night on one of my sleepless nights). With DD I wasn't too bad, just not being able to get comfy. We'll see what this one brings.

Have good days all an i'll check in later. DH home tonight so I really must get some housework done today...or else I'll be getting sacked (and not in a good way )

MerryMarigold · 17/07/2008 10:30

I've got to tidy my room but have managed to catch up on all posts.

Dh has already been banished to ds's floor (with a mattress!) - he snores really, really badly - but I am still awake at 4 or 5 every morning. Usually catch up with a nap after lunch. Turning is a nightmare! I have to hold my tummy, like a large lump of washing, and haul myself over!

toolly · 17/07/2008 10:59

Thanks for your good wishes. The driver also bit the neighbours boyfriend who went to help my dad, luckily he didn't break his skin, but he(neighbour) did sustain a broken finger in the struggle. I find biting a very peculiar thing to do, but if he was desperate to escape I guess it's understandable. Neighbour on the other side has got to replace his front wall where the car ploughed in. This chap caused minor havoc to our lives in 20 seconds of craziness.
Merry, do you have a body pillow? They are really nice to support the bump and you can also tuck them between your knees to reduce the pressure. I have a relatively small bump at the moment but I already feel so ungainly.
Anyway must press on with this proofreading whilst the children are otherwise occupied.

ChocOrange05 · 17/07/2008 11:15

Toolly whats with all this biting!?!? Very strange behaviour indeed! I hope your dad and neighbour are ok - and that the biter gets his comeuppance!

Dozymare · 17/07/2008 11:34

toolly i missed that as well yesterday - WTF?!!!! can't believe that your dad was a)run over then b) bitten by the guy...bizarre...

Well I have a confession to make ladies......

I have booked a gender scan this saturday at 4:45pm.......£69 including photos...now I am just wondering how to break the news to DH who thinks I am a)obesssed with having a girl b) Nuts as have been told that it is highly likely as no boy bits present...

Gosh, even I can see I am being ever so slightly irrational with that, but I PROMISE that if sonographer says pink on Saturday, i will start to believe it!!

Merry you made me laugh - got to tidy my room.....remind me of what I used to say aged 16 as in "can't come out to smoke crafty cigs as got to tidy my room!!

DM x

Oblomov · 17/07/2008 11:41

No, we'll all let you off Dozy. You must put this to bed once and for all.

I think I have a pillow somewhere. It might be in the loft. The house is in total turmoil, with the decorating. I cant even contemplate getting up the loft, or sorting babys clothes into 0-3,3-6 mths etc, at the mo.

tegan · 17/07/2008 11:43

Well iam on cloud nine. sil has donated all her baby items to me, these include
pine swinging crib
fleece liner
whole nursey kit of bedding curtains ect
sleeping bags
clothes
play gym
bumbo
and seeing as we are having a bot every item of clothing her ds (2.7 yrs) has ever owned (all designer by the way)

on the down side i feel like shit. Have been shaking and feel really thirsty but don't feel i can eat or drink.

LackaDAISYcal · 17/07/2008 12:03

Dozy, £69 is well worth your sanity for the rest of your pregnancy. You could always say you are off shopping and don't tell him! (only kidding, honest). I'm sure he'll be all for it if it means getting his happy settled wife back again

tegan, great news on the stuff from your SIL.
sorry you are feeling rough, but please try to drink as much as you can; it;s important to keep your fluids up as dehydration can make you feel really ill indeed. Is it a viral thing do you think? Maybe a quick call to your doc or MW is in order. Take it easy

OP posts:
Oblomov · 17/07/2008 12:10

Tegan, shaking & thirsty, thats not good. Are you allright ?

twinklingfairy · 17/07/2008 12:21

Wow, lucky you tegan it is great to get so much stuff. I am hoping that my brother was happy to recieve my massive bag of 0-6 months clothes for their LO.

dozy at you needing the confimation, I hope that you can settle afterwards. And I can't believe you BF wants to steal your name, playing the race card to win her cause. Mean

Finally went to bed at 5.30 Didn't really settle until DH left for work, about 6.30. Then had get up for DD about 9.30, which is a blessing, she could be an early riser. So have had approx 3.5 hours sleep! Not so good! But, surprisingly feeling ok, so far.

Yorky · 17/07/2008 13:53

Tegan look after you, drink something at least. Great news on all the baby kit though
Toolly your dad sounds like hes doing OK, but what a crazy night!
Dozy if thats what you need to do then DH has to understand, stress is bad for you and £69 is not that expensive
Merry you need to tidy your room? I need to do something drastic to the whole house! Am seriously thinking of getting a cleaner to come in as reinforcements when DS starts nursery - I can't just spend all morning on MN if theres someone else there!

coolkat · 17/07/2008 13:57

Crickey I am glad I am not the only one who wakes in the early hours, today 4-6.30 the other day woke at 2. Bump always really active in the night [not a good sign!!]

Well I am paying for being active yest SPD really bad today

Just been on the mark's sale site and picked up a few girly bargains in 3-6 mth, got a pram suit, pack of two pairs of trousers, coat and DD some school bits for 35.00. Also used the Free delivery code. Just got to hide them well as only me and DH know the sex!

Tegan thats great being given so much stuff although sorry to hear you are feeling unwell.

Tolly sorry to hear about your dad's adventures, hope today is more peaceful.

Weather is trash here.

sparkletoes · 17/07/2008 14:08

This thread is just soo chatty I am so sorry but cannot keep up with it all!

HM2J your MIL should be hunted down and ceremoniously strung up for her comments, how very dare she. AM sure your chosen name is great don't listen to her.

Dozy a friend of mine also knows that our chosen girl's name is OUR name and has been for ages.. then a few months ago she announced that she and her DH had decided they liked it! Flaming cheek, she is due before me so if she chooses it there will just have to be 2 of them in the village cos I aint changing (again).

Twinkling, I am exactly the same re: sleep it is a nightmare and can't even doze during day due to the constant noise of the building work next door. I find that sleeping on my side kills my hip and shoulder and we even have a NASA approved moulds to ur shape mattress!

Incidentally does any one know when you are supposed to stop lying on back to sleep, heard it was 4 months then my yoga teacher said it was 30 something weeks... I keep forgetting to as my MW! Always try not to just in case but would be good to know - anyone???

Ceebs hope everything is ok when your results come back, they don't do any saliva tests during PG for CF in Scotland either anymore as far as I know...

Oh yeah finally... as for probs bending to get underwear on. here is the Sparkletoes method: Throw pants on floor close to bed, hope they fall in such a way that u can put a foot in correct bit, sit on bed and pull em on. If discover they are back to front/inside out carry on regardless, if feet are in wrong 'holes' then grudgingly pull them off and start again.

Tinkerisdead · 17/07/2008 15:13

This thread is always so chatty, ive finally done all my housework and ironing. ironing whilst sat down at the ironing board takes about 4 years!!! argghhh i want this baby out so I can get better and see what i got!!! We have short list of names and i dont mind sharing so you can all abuse me in MN baby name bashing style. Girls: Sophie, Lily or Lucy yes yes popular i know but i like them so nurrrr. and boys; Henry william after grandada or lewis or elliott. bash away ladies i'm sticking to them. gotta see what i got and then which name suits them.

As Roca was talking about sex and Pinkali lowers the tone anyway, can i dare to mention by weirdo preg side effects, although im not really keen on sex, when i have had it ive had my first multiple orgasm which nearly killed me with shock, and then i had one in my sleep! I wouldnt mind but i was dreaming my friends christening was interrupted by a motorbike!!!! I darent tell anyone in real life. except DH who cant understand why im not wanting sex all the time now! anyone else noticed such weirdness?
Im now off to read my last months Mn book swap book as bubbaz said i can have longer . I Heart bubbaz.

Oh and Misdee, shame on you admitting you wear Crocs. Your a long standing MN regular too...tell me you give your girls fruit shoots and make me smile :-)

misdee · 17/07/2008 15:21

lol@ the fruit shoots. they have had them when out and about, but they are never on my actual shopping list.

Tinkerisdead · 17/07/2008 15:52

i may have to out you in the Chat section... "Misdee wears crocs and gives her children fruit shoots, she is only pretending to be a real mumsnetter!!!"
You go to Greggs too dont you!!??

MerryMarigold · 17/07/2008 16:21

I didn't tidy up my room, I looked for pushchairs online .

Yorky, whole house is pretty tippy by most people's standards, but my room really does like a 16 year old's. I have never been good at picking clothes off the floor and it hasn't been hoovered in how long? Not to mention crates of washed clothes (we don't iron in this house ). So, yeah dozy, makes me feel 16 again to be in it, and I love it, but dh sadly doesn't! (He said he wants to sleep on ds's floor because it stresses him too much to be in there).

tegan · 17/07/2008 16:37

I have seen mw this afternoon and she thinks it's a urinary tract infection so i have to drink plenty and go back if it gets worse
