Forgot to say thank you Pinkyminky for the Vbac CD I got it today

Wow, I think I have been MIA for the last 2 full threads! I am sooo sorry!

Hi everyone!!

I am sorry to not be around much right now, I am just swamped at home and have some things going on that need sorting (like whether to put myself through the turmoil of reapplying for ds2's DLA). I am cleaning and tidying while I have the energy and inclination to do it. Plus after the highs of the 20 week scan and the great fetal echo, I feel a little flat now that things are back to "boring", if you know what I mean?!

I meant to come and post 2 weeks ago about my fetal echo after fighting so hard to get it and everyone being so supportive. Everythign is looking great so far. They basically did a full anomaly scan of thier own for base measurments and then did the echo. Even my untrained eye could see no holes and no obviously blockages anywhere. I am well chuffed! I have to go back at 32 weeks due to the way ds2's condition developed and baby will be scanned after birth, but everything looks great so far. I did laugh at the report they gave me. My baby boy has a big fat tummy, weighs more than average but has a small-ish head, which was FINE by me, lol! Both my ds's had whopping big heads and ohhhh, the burning!!!!

Anyway, I hope you are all doing well. I am going to make a real big effort to get out of my posting funk and catch up properly.

LackaDAISYcal · 16/07/2008 20:09

misdee, I bent down to tuck the sheets in when making the bed last night and oh boy the pain ; it felt like junior was lying across the bottom of my tummy and simultaneously headbutting and kicking my hip bones....ow ow ow ow ow.

Pinkyminky......I got my Cd today as well, thank you very very very much. I'll listen to it in bed tonight

I was going to type loads of things but I have now forgotten everything!

Drswife - I am not sure about the legalities of them making you attend an ET but I would definitely recommend getting a doctor's note to say you are unfit - I can't imagine any doctor would not be prepared to do that if you are 3 weeks from your due date - plus, I am sure it will be easy - what with being married to him and all

Daisy - I love the Secret Stork idea - what a sweet sweet thing to do.

Dozymare - I completely understand about the need to know the sex of the baby. I had already decided that if we hadn't been able to find out (legs crossed etc) then I was going to pay for a private scan as I really did have a desperate need to find out. As it was, we have been very lucky and it was extremely clear - but I don't think you are being irrational at all.

LackaDAISYcal · 16/07/2008 20:13

hi heartmum, good to have you back

we have been worried about you, you know

glad the scan was fine, you must be so relieved.

re the DLA, there are comapnies around that will help you fill it in. My mum and dad used a charity based in Edinburgh called the disablement income group as they do the forms all the time and know how to pitch your answers to get the blooming award. I was shocked at how many hoops they had to jump through to get it; surely this money is a right and not something that has to be wheedled out of them

Oblomov · 16/07/2008 20:16

LOL at Roca getting 'jiggy with it', with her dh.
And the 30 point turn = Me too.
On both counts
Although maybe not quite as much as Roca

Oblomov · 16/07/2008 20:17

Hi Heartmum, yes we have missed you , noticed your absence.
Is it just Creena, we are missing now ?

Heartmum2Jamie · 16/07/2008 20:21

Sorry Daidy...will try not to go "walk about" for too long next time Consider me well and truely told off!

As for DLA, we had to go to tribunal last time to get the blasted award. In the end, it wasn't awarded because of his heart, but because of his allergies, but they awarded it for 2 years. I can't believe it has been nearly 18 months since the tribunal (they backdated 6 months) and we are really still in the same boat with some things having got worse. I am really not sure I want to go through the emotionally draining experience while 6 months pregnant. Decisions, decisions!

ceebee74 · 16/07/2008 20:32

HM2J - welcome back on this thread aswell Sorry you are having to go through a load of paperwork etc just to get something - maybe using an outside agency to help is a good idea?

I can still turn over in bed ok but doing up any shoes with straps or painting my toenails is becoming harder each day!! Although my bump does seem to have settled down now and isn't much bigger than it was a few weeks ago - I think I look about right for my dates now!!

Those of you who know what flavour you are having, do you refer to it by name yet? As we have chosen the name aswell, we are using it already - is that wrong??

DS and I have come up with our chosen name, just this evening. Now all we need to do is get DH to agree to it.....but as those two outvoted me with DD, it's a done deal as far as I'm concerned

And no, I'm not sharing

But we refer to the bump as Virgil!

OP posts:
Heartmum2Jamie · 16/07/2008 21:04

We haven't settled on a name yet. When I had my fetal echo, the in-laws were kind enough to take me. They didn't know what we were having at the time as I knew they didn't want to know and I made a good effort in not telling them. Anyway, MIL comes into the scan room with me as the kids wanted to come too. One of the first measurments taken was the thigh bone and we all had a great view of the baby's bum and his bits, lol! The worst was, the machine ran out of paper, so that imagine was on the screen for 10 minutes while they replaced the paper, lol! The MIL then goes on to tell me how disappointed SHE is that I am having another boy......to my face! So in the car on the way home, we (the boys and I) mentioned the only name we all liked and agreed on so far, and they said we can't call OUR baby that as THEY hate it. Grrrr! Natually, when I told dh about their reactions to both sets of news, he was pretty incensed and said that if they hate it that much, we shall name him that just to piss them off, lol! However, we don't refer to him by that name as it still isn't set in stone. He's affectionately known as Iggle Piggle!

Hanaflower, enjoy your trip! We are going camping for the first time with the boys for the weekend at the end of the month. I was not entirely sure I was of sound mind when i agreed, but as I am not the only one, I feel better, lol!

That's our reckoning too hana, we have a few names and combinations that we like and will finalise it once we meet the little man. We did the same with DD, and it was obvious when we met her that she was an emily. DS's name was decided before he was born, and he sort of had to grow into it iyswim.

don't know if I mentioned it, but the firends of mine who didn't name their baby until she was over three weeks old settled on Tessa in the end. I think it's lovely

OP posts:
ceebee74 · 16/07/2008 21:20

Daisy - that is how I feel. It took me and DH ages to settle on this name so there is no way it is being changed - so he will have to grow into it

misdee · 16/07/2008 21:20

oh MH2J, i have had a lot of 'oh are you disappointed' comments regarding dd4. i am just so at people when they say that.

i have another scan at st thomas's next week to check for any defects, last one at 16 weeks was fine, so am pretty hopefully, that this ones left ventricle hasnt doubled in size since last weeks annomaly scan. will be a long day in london again though. am hoping its not too hot.

Regarding DLA, dd1 awarrd this year was stopped (allergies eczema asthma etc, not as severe as J's but still pretty scary at times), and tbh i just couldnt be bothered to go through appeals etc, asked for a reconsideration, that was it. they still said no. so have left it. but she is 8 now and is getting better at self-medicating, though has to be nagged and occasionally pinned down to take care of her skin.

Heartmum2Jamie · 16/07/2008 21:43

Oh Misdee, congratulations on DD4!! Why on earth would people think you would be disappointed, especially after all you have been through, it is a miracle that you have been so blessed! Grrrrr! I am angry on your behalf! Good luck at St Thomas's next week. It does make for a long day thought doesn't it?

I have been "talked" into reapplying for DLA for J. I guess I am wary as he is overdue a food challenge and he may not actually be allergic anymore, but we are treating him as if he is (he may still be though, lol!). He does still have eczema and gets out of puff easily. We now have added issues of daytime wetting. Although he potty trained eventually and was reliably dy for 3 months, he has not had a dry day since March and can have up to 7 changes of pants/trousers a day. I refuse to put him back in nappies or pull ups, it would defeat the point. Oh and he re-failed the speech section of his 3 1/2 year recall assessment on monday, lol! He has "below average speech clairity" and has developed a weird thing of taking a breath between every word he says. It's cute, but makes him very difficult to understand. To me, all of this is practically "normal", you just incorporate it into your life, as I am sure you can understand. I have no idea what a "normal" 4 year old is like, lol!

toolly · 16/07/2008 21:56

Woh! Eventful happenings here at chez toolly. My dad has nearly been knocked over, he then tried to arrest the guy (he's ex police) and has been bitten for his troubles. Just been taken to hospital for tetanus, hiv, hep and all the other tests.
Blimey, Ludwig is jumping around in here, must be all the adrenalin.
Must Calm Down!!! I shall make myself a hot milky drink.

misdee · 16/07/2008 22:02

HM2J, i have never had a child 'with normal speech' so cant hel[p you. dd1 was quiet. dd2 was almost selective mute for her first 2months at pre-school, and has a speech delay, not so obvious now she is almost 6 and at school but is stil la bit garbled, and dd3 is 'advanced' in her speech apparently. gabbles ten to the dozen to almost everyone. she hasnt had a three year check yet ,they are basically abolsihes them in this area unless you have concerns.

LackaDAISYcal · 16/07/2008 22:46

i must breed early talkers...DS was and DD is going that way too. she has quite a range and can string two words together. When i put her in her cot tonight, she looked around for her cuddlies and then looked at me and said, clear as a whistle "get baby". that was me told!

It isn't always a good thing [gagging the kids emoticon]

she was trying to say chocolate today, but it just sounded like cock-it...oops

heartmum, I hope you can get something sorted out with J's DLA. I'm sort of waiting for one of mine to start showing signs of coeliac disease. so far so good, but then again, I wasn't diagnosed till i was 35!

Insomnia!!
I just can't settle. Everything is annoying from bed covers to nighty, to cat and DH (who both snore!)
So I am back downstairs and MNing at silly o'clock in the flaming morning. I didn't even manage an afternoon snooze today, I so thought I would be knackered.

HM2J I cannot beleive you MIL said all that to you How awful!

My DD seems to be a good speaker, she is 22 months(ish) and has quite a few sentences, but I don't have anything to compare it to. The best to date has got to be when she picked up her monitor (thinking it was a phone) and said,'Hello' wee pause 'How you doing?' another wee pause 'Fine, how are you?'
This, I now realise, is exactly what I say to my mum when she calls me I couldn't beleive it when DD came out with it all though!
I think she is good but as I say I have no comparison really, only a friend who has a LO, 6 months older, who really didn't talk at all when I last saw her. Her mum commented that DD had more words, at that stage.
But I guess they will all get there in the end, I am sure that LO was just waiting until she had it all formed in her mind before she said too much wrong. Some do that don't they? Funny isn't it?

Oh, I am off to try to read my book instead of gabbling away to an empty room.
Poor me Do you hear the tiny violins??

vbab78 · 17/07/2008 07:24

Heartmum2Jamie - Lovely MIL!! I would of been so sarcastic with her it. Either that or push her out of the car ! Forget her evil woman.

Dozymare · 17/07/2008 07:27

Morning all - twinkling am with you on the insomnia thing..........i am awake at silly o'clock at least 2x a week - either mumsnet, read or listen to the CD Yorky sent me - which has really helped.........can sympathise and you would think that the likes of us (and Merry who also suffering) would be sparko having run around all day long after LO's!!!!!!!

hEARTMUM2 Welcome back, you were missed! glad things are looking good heart wise with this LO.......fingers crossed ventricle is on track with babies age....As for your MIL you quite simply MUST call your %son the name she HATES!

We have 85% decided on a name for this DD(please let it be based on the scan, actually following on from yesterday's chat about my doubts, I am going to go for a private scan, but only if they can say 100%)but my mum hates the name - we have loved this name for over 7 years, she has always know if we had a DD it would more than likely be called that........PLUS my BF who is also PG (the one who told me yesterday that her step MIL was told a girl but had a boy and not to get to focussed) has announced that our name is "her" name especially as it has persian and she is half arabic and we have NOTHING to do with that part of the World.....again, she has known for over 7 years if we had a girl it would more than likely have that name!!! I think I will just keep quiet from now on!!!!!!!!!!!!

hanaflower festival looks faB!!!! I was so anti camping after "doing" glastonbury 2x as a young filly that when DH suggested it about 7 years ago, I was less than keen and agreed provided that on the last night we could check into a swanky boutiquey hotel......I have been hooked ever since!!

We are going to the lake district in august for a week and stayhing in a place on the lower mill estate (owned by red tartan lass, here on MN as she was offering it out at a very good price) and it is set in 300 acres...DH is taking the tent and plans on campaing out with the kids, fishing etc for one or 2 nights......this time I am passing though, as won't get up once I am on the ground I'm sure!!!!!!

Off to make the kids brekky!

HAVE A FAB DAY!

dm XXX

vbab78 · 17/07/2008 07:28

tooly - hope your dad ok.

twinklingfairy - hope you have managed some sleep.

Thanks all i'm feeling much better emotionally but went to bed way too late after seeing my friend last night. Going out was lovely on its own but with a girly friend for pizza, sex&thecity & good company was lovely.

vbab78 · 17/07/2008 07:31

Just got to do all the shopping, washing, drying, ironing and all other prep that comes with going away on Sat morning. Because it always get left to us ladies! Of course in between this I've got DS with me, HV coming, picking mum up from work and needing to get prescriptions for DS eczema.
