Some people don't like air con.
As far as I know a de-humidifier is much less chemical and more green.
It is much more like a fan, but cools the air by taking out the water content. It has a big water container and this needs to be emptied regularly.
It is totally fab, as far as I am concerned.

Dozymare · 28/07/2008 10:22

so where can I find out more about a de humidifier??? am very very interested now....is it noisy?!

Pinkali37 · 28/07/2008 10:28

Dozy - We would like fitted because the plan is... have No.1 then move it upstairs to next level, have No.2 in the nursery, then when old enough move that one upstairs too and they can have entire top floor to themselves (adult free space) and the original nursery can be made into a guest room (away from the children). At the moment guests have top floor but I think when the children get old enough we will want them out of the way!! Hence with the fitted wardrobes we were thinking long term. IKEA do wardrobes fronts so that is our next trip to Leeds sorted. We have a joiner that should be able to build teh actual frame etc.. and no where near the price quoted by SHARP bedrooms. My whole house is a work in progress, it was built in 1776 so everynow and then another bit falls off it and we have to start all over again.

OOPS.. i have just run over my Aunties toy poodle on my chair... but it was quite funny.

I use our dehumidifier to get rid of condensation in the winter and so save you from having to wipe windows.

LadyBuzz · 28/07/2008 13:41

Lol at Pinkali running over the poodle!
at Dozy that never even crossed my mind! but yes I do think its funny and I am really not offended that you will now all think of me as a sex toy when i post poor sex starved Dozy!!
The reason behind my name is my DHs friends call him Buzz (as in lightyear) because he looks like him and MrsBuzz was taken - although no better really!!
Am at Aircon too I might have to sleep in the car!

vbab78 · 28/07/2008 13:47

vio - i have just read your post regarding your DS. Sorry to hear about your loss. Glad to hear that your DD bump is fine and well.

Sorry I haven't said "hi" sooner as I've been away for a week and been trying to find a minute to read all the posts.

Oblomov · 28/07/2008 13:53

Please, PLEASE can you be MrsBuzzLightyear.
That would be so fab. None of you have seen the Buzz Lightyear cake I made for ds for his last birthday. I was well proud.

Dozy, the one I have is cooler
Now, it calls itself a mobile air conditioning unit. But I think that is just becasue it is trying to be posh/attract attention.
Although please don't quote me on this, I think air cons have to be regularly fitted with special gas canisters, and that is what makes them air con.
I think this is a de-humidifer becasue it has a really-pain-in-the-ass, big tube, that you stick out of patio doors.
It takes in hot air, blows hot air out of tube. Cool air comes out through slots. And the water bit collects in a container, that you open side door and pour away. red light comes on when water is full.

But not being very technical, don't quote me on all of this.

But it is FAB-AROONEY.

Hi everyone, just a quick message before we go away for a week (still not packed and leave in 3 hours!!). Still, it is only up north so if forget anything can always get hold of it.

Welcome vio, am sure I have seen your DS story must have been on another thread... anyway wishing you all the luck with your DD.

Hana thank you so much for your informative sling show report, it was really helpful and well done on winning the raffle!! Def going to go for a ringsling type one I think...

Ladybuzz, I never thought of Bubbaz that way either I must admit but ladybuzz has a certain regal ring to it with a naughty undertone too - I like it!!

I do believe the swaddle pods referred to by Twinkling came from a link I previously posted about liberty slings... Here it is again for those interested:

Liberty Slings/Swaddle Pods

Right really must start packing, if I get chance I'll catch up again before we go but if not BYEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!

Oblomov · 28/07/2008 13:59

I love Buzz Lightyear, nearly as much as ds.

I have added cake to profile.

MrsBuzzLightyear · 28/07/2008 14:05

Just for you Oblomov - Love the cake by the way!

LadyBuzz · 28/07/2008 14:09

I would upload a pic of my DH for you but Windows Vista appears to hate me and I can't!

LadyBuzz · 28/07/2008 14:13

Forgot to say have a good Hol Sparkle where up North are you heading?

cricri · 28/07/2008 14:14

Great cake Oblomov
Love the new name Ladybuzz. Must admit I hadn't spotted the MN etiquette section Must have a look at some point.
Am very of the hot and sunny weather in the UK at the moment - we've just had the most almighty thunderstorm where I am in France. The lights keep flickering so I'm not sure how long I'm going to have power for my laptop! It's not been too hot fortunately but it's humid today.
Baby tends to be active in the morning and in the evening on the whole. As long as I feel it at least once a day I'm trying not to worry...
Sparkletoes Have a great holiday and hope the good weather lasts.
Pinkali Hope your auntie's dog is OK!
Sun made a brief appearance just now so perhaps I might be able to sunbathe a bit later

LadyBuzz · 28/07/2008 14:17

cricri I would steer well clear I break most of the rules and came away feeling like queen chav

Vio welcome to the group - its slightly mad but very welcoming and helpful. I was very sorry to read about your DS. I'm glad all seems to be well with your DD and wish you the best of luck for this pregnancy. Its good to see another girl on here, boys seem to be topping the chart at the moment!
