Welcome Vio So sorry to hear about the loss of your son and the difficult time you've had Wishing you an uneventful pg this time around.
MM Hope you're feeling OK. You're doing the right thing by cancelling stuff if you don't feel up to it. Babies come first!
Sorry to hear people are having trouble sleeping. It's not as hot over here in France as it is in the UK so it's not been too bad for me. Typical that I'm missing the week when the weather is lovely and hot though It's lovely here today but meant to rain again tomorrow.
Hope everybody is having a good Sunday.

barbareebaa · 27/07/2008 09:54

Hi Merry

London was a bit too hot yesterday wasn't it?? I should have maybe left the shopping but was too impatient to spend me vouchers!!
Sorry your not feeling 100% - hope you are able get a bit of time to chill(literally!!)

What's everyone got planned for today? I think it's a quiet one for us. Really miss having a car - when we lived up north we would go out for the day - to the seaside or something. Maybe need to find out about trains to the seaside!

Welcome to Vio. Best wishes for a healthy and happy pregnancy. Glad to hear your little dd is healthy.

We have friends coming to dinner today. Doing a roast chicken as it is fairly fool proof. Dh and I actually got some time to ourselves yesterday evening. MIL looked after dd while we went to watch a hurling match and we went to the pub for a drink. Well, I went for one and went to collect dd and dh stayed out until 2.30!! Hope he will be up to entertaining our visitors today after the late night.

at all the talk of your hot weather. The sun is out here this morning so it's looking good for today but we have been having a terrible summer so far.

bubbaz · 27/07/2008 11:15

Welcome Vio, Glad you are having a good pregnancy this time round, so sorry to hear of the year you have been through .
Well I have just got up and feel very refreshed today we were out last night DS is at Grandmas and DH went to work at 9 and left me in bed bless him.
We went for a curry last night and it seems to be the only thing that STOPS my Heartburn .
Hope everyone else is well

vio · 27/07/2008 14:18

HI, thank you so much for the warm welcome. Due date is 19 Nov. Yes, girl is a bit of novelty for me as well, I don't mind if it's girl or boy as well as it's healthy, that's the main thing.

Sun is shining in Glasgow, very warm. Love summer.

Anyone having a CS this time?

LadyBuzz · 27/07/2008 14:46

Hello everyone I am or was Bubbaz, I have changed my name after reading the Mumsnet Etiquette rules and finding that one of them was not refering to your children as Bubba. I don't want to be seen as the lowest of the low and as it is not a word I use anyway decided to change!

Wow what a day hanaflower! Well done you for winning the right sling! We ended up meeting my parents to swap cars in Leicester - decided that was about half way between us, although quite a long way for a pub lunch. Dad has been making BILs car legal so that DH can use it to commute with and DS and I don't get stuck at home. Nice to hear your comments on ring slings but will have to see what people say and what I can borrow from the sling library next Friday
Today was a nice day apart from the heat, and my ankles are swollen which they never did with DS, sat stretched along the settee and being waited on!

vbab78 · 27/07/2008 21:46

Hello ladies. Got back from a week on hol in sunny great yarmouth! Had a lovely time with DH and DS. Sometimes stressful with DS having occasional mardy fits because he tries to do everything the big boys do but isn't safe so we stop him. I think at 2 he doesn't understand. Just caused a couple of arguments with DH as he tends to go straight off the deep end whereas I am firm but try to keep calm.

Had fantastic time and feel closer than normal to DS as we have had everyday together rather than losing 3 days of me working.

Just come back with lots of washing & ironing and a water infection! OUCH!

vbab78 · 27/07/2008 21:48

I hope everyone has been ok. I will try and catch up on over a week's posts!

MerryMarigold · 27/07/2008 22:41

welcome back vbab, glad you had a good time

congrats hanaflower on winning the sling! coooooooolio.

welcome vio. it's good to have you join, and thanks for telling us about your ds. look forward to seeing your dd. i am likely to have a cs as having twins, but the jury is still out on it!

my feet are like balloons again. i slept with fan on and window open last night, no covers, small t-shirt, still hot.

got my fasting blood test tomorrow. no food from midnight tonight for me. just gonna go and stuff myself .

vio · 28/07/2008 02:53

Dozymare · 28/07/2008 07:35

VIO what is your DD should be what is your Due Date..........

LadyBuzz · 28/07/2008 07:51

Morning All,
Dozy glad you had a nice weekend, the coast sounds lovely,Vbab welcome back fro your hols. I have also resorted to sleeping with a fan on and not alot else
Spent the day at MILs yesterday in her huge garden DS was in and out of the pool and I sat with my feet in it all day - Bliss!
Are fans safe for the DCs Ds room is so hot and I have been putting it on in the eve but taking it out when he goes to bed?
Hope evryone is well and has nice plans for today

Dozymare · 28/07/2008 08:00

Meant to say Bubbaz - what a rude name you have changed to (or is that just my filthy not had sex since conception mind thinking)

Love it!!!

Dozymare · 28/07/2008 08:02

we had a fan in DS's bedroom last summer and I was petrifed he would wake up in the night and put his fingers in it (over protective mum icon) so did exactly what you did and took it out at night!

Haven't bothered this year as he literally just sleeps in pants and doesn't seem to bother him...I do keep all the bedroom windows open in the day though with the curtains shut to keep the room cool and it seems to work.....

vbab78 · 28/07/2008 08:19

Just phoned in sick for work and feel awful about it as I have just got back off 1 week hol. Also from work's point of view I should work 4 days this week Mon-Thu. Mon - SICK, Tues - AT WORK(?), Wed - Leave 1.5hrs early for DS hospital appointment, Thu - Midwife appointment at 1pm!

Just this water infection has knocked me for 6 and is painful. Also DS had a terrible night of it keep waking up screaming. I think maybe his last teeth coming but also blistering hot and upsetting his eczema. It upset me even more because he just wanted "daddy cuddles" (imagine a really upset and sweet voice) and not me.

Also I think maybe a little bit of me doesn't want to go back to work after the week break if thats what you call time with DH and DS full time. ()

Am I bad?

Oblomov · 28/07/2008 08:48

Welcome Vio.
Welcome back Vbab.
ladyBuzz, like new name. But then I liked old one - Bubbaz - I didn't know it was a faux pas, I never thought of it like that, I just thought Bubbaz !
Hana thank you for your sling review. I am impressed with your impressive reporting skills.
Twinkling do you have a link to Liberty swaddle pods. I am very into swaddling, but have not seen those.

We are back home forma lovely Newmarket Racing. We had such a nice time. It was too hot.
We are glad to be back in our air conditioned bedroom. Sleeping in the cool is so nice. I also have one of those de-humidifiers on in the lounge. The temp in there is 17 degrees. Bliss. outside it is currently 29.

When we were in Newmarket, I was looking for an outfit for ds, a really cute outfit , for our family Christmas party that is held in early Dec. I think he will need 0-3 months.
Any suggestions ?

Oblomov · 28/07/2008 09:02

Dozy, what does LadyBuzz mean then ?
Is it something like this :ladybuzz
Or is it some sort of epilator :ladybuzz

Ha. ha.
Sorry, LadyBuzz, hadn't even thought of all of this, until Dozy made my mind go into overtime.

coolkat · 28/07/2008 09:36

Welcome Vio, wishing you a happy healthy pregnancy, this lot will keep you smiling

Ladybuzz I was thinking more lady fuzz, god its a nightmare shaving blind down there, sorry TMI! But Dozy started it!

VBab, I know how you feel the whole guilt thing about work, but you have to look after yourself. I always think hen your ill even if you go in you don't get anymore thanks for it. Put your feet up and relax in a cool room.

MM enjoy your day of stuffing yourself!

I have found not been all that hungry In this weather. Was going to do pork, jackets and salad yest but DH said he would be more than happy with cheese sandwich so thats what we had! I was not cooking for the sake of it so just made sure DD had plenty of fruit {bad mother award} although I did make extra effort and grate the cheese, it was sunday after all

Looks like its going to be another hot day, we shouldn't moan but its to hot to do anything and I would like it if it was cooler at night.
Sorry for ramble. X

vio · 28/07/2008 09:43

Due date is 19 Nov, I know I am having a girl cos had a CVS test done at 10 weeks. As I had a very traumatic labour and ended up with a Emergency CS. I have already made up my mind and am going for an elective CS this time.

So I suppose DD will come out a little earlier than the due date. she's been kicking me like mad in the morning but I am happy though.

Pinkali37 · 28/07/2008 09:50

Morning All,

Welcome Vio... we are all lovely 9even if I do say so myself so we will offer lots of advice, kindness, harsh words of reality when we all need it, friendship but mainly support. It's great and soooo addictive. Congratulations on your new pregnancy you must be so be so excited. I am terribly sorry about your sad loss, however I am very sure he may be gone but NEVER forgotten.

Ladybuzz - This will take some time to get used to!!

So, what a warm weekend and hectic for me. Friday, shopping in London and good news is I managed to get the mamas and papas nursery stuff I wanted and it was in the sale !!! YIPPEE.... HOWEVER, stupid pregnant person forgot DH wasn't with her and so ended up carrying 2 massive bags around with her and then couldn't get seat on the train so stood up for 1hr 20 minutes on the train (NOT HAPPY).

Saturday, went shopping with DH and got some vest and babygrows etc.. Saturday afternoon had someone come and measure for fitted wardrobes in nursery. I have a bee in my bonnet about this. 2 metres in legnth and 4 doors with just hanging and a bit of storage.... original price £4,890 (NO i haven't added an extra 0 by accident) then he said with all the discounts it would be £1,890. I could not believe it. All we have been trying to get hold of is some wardrobe doors, but can you get them without being sliding OH NO!!!!! I am not paying that much money for a simple 4 door wardrobe. The man must have thought i was stupid. I did try to explain we were only taking advantage of the free NO OBLIGATION quote... anyway, have got that out of my system now..

Saturday had BBQ for friends. Sunday had my dad over for lunch. I AM KNACKERED!!!

Sorry for over load of info.

Hope everyone is ok. Oh p.s. has everyone elses baby's been quiet with movements in the hot weather???

xxxxx

Dozymare · 28/07/2008 09:56

OBS - you got it right the first time - a little erm, "lady friend" I what I was thinking of!!!! Bet you Bubbaz is mortified now but i know she will think it very funny (at least I hope she will!)

I am just filthy minded - must be due to the lack of sex as mt dreams are also very X rated at the moment which I am loving

I would be intereted in "twinklings" liberty swaddles - please do us a link "twinkle"

So how does your humidifer work then?? I always thought they were used to filter the air, not cool it??!! As for aircon in your room, am very very !!

Dozymare · 28/07/2008 10:12

Pinkali - my little one is not moiving as much either - I am back to getting little flutters every once in a while rather than the quite big moves of last week......maybe babies are on a growth spurt and so sleeping lots??!!

VIO - i also ahd traumatic birth and emergency C section 1st time around and went for elective with my 2nd...it was wonderful so relaxed and if this makes sense, peaceful.....was stress free as well as not rushed as in the case of emergency c sections and I found the recovery fine - had it late morning and by 4pm same day was walking to the loo (albeit slowly)........I am also going for another elective for this my 3rd and final time!

Pinkali - any reason you want fitted?? I bought lovely white single wardrobes from Ikea for both boys has about 6 shelves on one side so ideal for t shirts, PJ's underwear etc and then enough hanging space for some special outfits!

Obs - I have always loved Monsoon linen suits in white or beige great for special occasions or vertbaudet which has some lovely linen all in one's.......hadn't even thought as far ahead as what to dress little one in, but now you got me thinking!!!

VBAB - hope you are feeling better - lots of cranberry but dried is better than juice as more concentrated....
