sparkletoes · 25/07/2008 11:08

Have never seen those before misdee! Would certainly cut out the whole too big/small sleepsuit prob.

Drswife, they don't look like they are any thicker than a sleepsuit so in that case I would use them with a growbag come winter... Our house gets really cold at night!

misdee · 25/07/2008 14:00

grobags or blankets, whichever you prefer.

My SIL bought that cot. Only reason I discounted it as it only lasts up to 6 mnths when regular size ones last up to 3+ years or so...

Depends if you would use it a lot in first 6 mnths I suppose.

sparkletoes · 25/07/2008 18:19

Sorry got confused there you were meaning Moses baskets and no can't really see a reason why you shouldn't get that travel cot instead.
Blame the heat... or the hormones.

My nephew slept fine in it but then they only used it as a travel cot. Would maybe also last longer than Moses as I had to stop using mine at 10 weeks.

cricri · 25/07/2008 18:59

Evening everybody, hope you're all OK.
We finally got a few bits for the baby today We've been given lots of clothes so we bought a picture for the nursery and some cuddly toys. Not very practical but lovely all the same One shop was selling cashmere cardigans for 100 euros Didn't spend very long in there! Another shop had some lovely Petit Bateau stuff but I resisted. We weren't in La Rochelle Merry Marigold but the prices were about the same I think.
Still suffering from backache unfortunately and I'm finding it increasingly difficult to bend over. I think it was Sparkletoes who had a good way of putting on knickers. Might have to try that soon

MerryMarigold · 25/07/2008 19:01

ooooh...all this talk of clothes and baby kicks is getting me right broody! With ds I was VERY good, and hardly bought a thing, only one outift sized 'newborn' and rest was 0-3. Luckily he was big and stayed big so I felt pleased with my self restraint! But it was lovely when still in hospital and some friends of my parents sent 3 newborn 'boys' babygros. I found the M & S gros lasted best. My child lived in gros and cardigans (cold house!), so I'm sure these will too!

Does anyone know where I can get bright coloured gros? I have some bright yellow (I dyed myself), 1 red, 1 green and 1 red stripe that I got in an NCT sale - they are really old, but they are so cute. I like all the whitey, cutesy stuff too, but get a bit sick of it all the time.

Dozy, we may have the same c-section date too then...will be keeping tabs! Also, can I have lemon drizzle recipe? I am famous for my banana/ honey cake and a lovely choc, fudge cake, but haven't tried lemon drizzle and I luurve it.

Drs wife, so when are you coming over then?! The Domestic Goddess Gold Medal is like winning Miss World, you have to be charitable ! You would be so shocked and appalled at my house though .

Had consultant appt today. Went fine, he did the hb's. It was the third, different doctor I've seen, but he was very efficient and told me I need extra folic with twins which the other 2 never mentioned. I only had to wait 50 mins too! (hour and half last time).

I have to have the glucose test - after all that talk yesterday!! You jinxed me . (I have been borderline on prick test twice, they keep surprising me and I make sure my urine sample is done at a 'good time'! First time I'd eaten a packet of skittles about 30mins before and this time I had a blueberry bagel with honey for breakfast about 1 hr, so I'm sure the results were normal considering my naughtiness! Ceebee, was it you worrying about food? Dr said I only need to fast from midnight, so will be fine even though I am a big breakfast person AS SOON AS I WAKE UP kind of gal even when not pg.

Anyway, hope y'all have good weekends. It's hot but not sunny. I am at my parents' place. Dad has bought ds an olympic sized paddling pool!

sparkletoes · 25/07/2008 19:44

LOL Cricri, good luck with the knicker trick!

Merry I have definately seen bright gros when browsing but now that I have tried looking I can't find them again... Next/M&S have some fairly bright ones and white ones with bright patterns but can't find the all one colour bright ones. Did see this pram suit if you are interested tho [http://www.bloomingmarvellous.co.uk/product.aspx?CategoryID=b-outerwear-rainwear&ProductID=24110&la nguage=en-GB red pramsuit].

If I come across them again I'll post it on here - know what you mean about getting sick of neutral colours!

sparkletoes · 25/07/2008 19:51

Sorry forgot double brackets, here is the link again.

Red Pramsuit

Am losing it - think I should stop posting altogether (audible sigh of relief from everyone)

ceebee74 · 25/07/2008 19:59

Merry - here are some cute bright ones from Next which are unisex.

here are some others - but probably more boyish.

I have to say I found Next sleepsuits fab - as I said earlier, DS stays in his clothes for ages so was in his sleepsuits for months before outgrowing them and I was very fussy and changed them every night so they got washed A LOT!! The Next ones still look pretty good considering.

Thanks for the info about the glucose test - still not convinced though - sorry!! Even fasting from midnight (assuming I can stay up that long to eat something before I go to sleep) would be very difficult for me.

Sparks - that pramsuit is fab. I have been promised some from a lady at work but I do want to buy one special one to bring bubba home from the hospital in!

MerryMarigold · 25/07/2008 21:26

Thanks sparkle and ceebee for those links. They look great. Very sweet!!!

ceebee, i know what you mean about fasting. i often wake for a 'snack' in the night , toast or bagel or crisps (has to be carbo-tastic), but will have to restrain myself that night! if i have the blood test in the hospital and go at 9am, then i will hopefully be first in line and be able to eat my 'packed breakfast' at 9.30.

mum2becks · 26/07/2008 08:20

morning everyone!! hope everyone has a nice weekend planned

Is anyone else having trouble sleeping in this heat? I am so hot and uncomfortable I just make myself even hotter trying to get comfortable! Was pleased to get up this morning and find somewhere a bit cooler!

If anyone has any suggestions of how they are keeping cool please let me know!!!!!!! I know shouldnt complain as this nice weather probably wont last!

coolkat · 26/07/2008 09:23

Hi Ladies

Mumto becks I am having trouble sleeping, half doen to weather, half down to DH who keeps getting called out in the middle of the night and because he is so tired he snores like a warthog. He is having a lie in which he rightly deserves however I am so tired I must bite my tongue before I speak as I likely to explode anytime soon.

My M+S delivery came and all of the baby bits were great apart from the fact that the delivery driver chucked the parcel over the fence and the dog got hold of it. I called M+S and explained what had happened and they were fab, replacing items that dog had, refunding me out of stock items and crediting my account as good will jesture. Best of it was I explained that they were fine just a bit of hair on them (nothing good wash won't sort I just wanted to make sure they did not do it again as dog could have choked on plastic)as puppy had decided to lie on the things he had got out of the bag but they insisted on replacing them and still keep the other stuff. Its not very often that you can praise companies for good customer service but I was impressed especially as it was all in the sale anyway! Parcel now hidden away from prying eyes as obviously only me and DH know its a girl!

Anyway sorry for ramble, see told you all I never know what to put! X

suiledonn · 26/07/2008 11:28

Good morning everyone.

coolkat - sounds like you got great customer service from M&S. It isn't often you hear such positive storied these days.

I made of list this morning of things we will need for the new baby and apart for pram sheets for my new pram we have nearly everything.
I'm not sure about clothes yet as I gave all my baby stuff to my sister as dd outgrew them and my sister is going to sort them out and give me back the good stuff. It is a relief to know we won't have to spend loads this time round although there are a few things I am going to treat myself and the new baby to.

Sorry for those who aren't sleeping. DD still doesn't sleep the night without waking once or twice so I am used to the broken sleep by now but some days I am exhausted.

ChocOrange05 · 26/07/2008 16:55

Hi all!

I got the diet sheet through from my MW today about the Glucose Tolerance Test - I can't believe what they want me to eat for 3 days before - 10 portions of carbs a day - which I just couldn't manage. These days I am eating a lot of salads but not that much carb - I just get full. I'm not sure what I am going to do?!?

DH and I put the cot up today in the nursery and new curtains and pictures we got in the mamas and papas sale - its very exciting!

I also bought myself a really pretty changing bag as my mum and stepdad gave me some birthday money so rather than use it for stuff just for me I thought I would buy useful baby stuff - but this is still for me too!

Hope everyone is enjoying this nice weather but not getting too hot!

twinklingfairy · 26/07/2008 17:07

misdee I have a Kari-me wrap sling that I was planning to sell. I am gonna try the Tricotti this time round.
It is blue, but that never worried me with DD, it is a warm sort of shade.
I had a look on your site and they want £41 for them, so would £30inc postage, be ok for a second hand, rarely used one?
Just a thought, as said you had not decided yet.

I also looked on the Liberty site, and I am absolutely loving those swaddle pods!! I want one!
Now I am going to have to sell the swaddle blankets I used for DD (pale green with green trim, Mothercare) so that I can buy a couple of those pods.
DH will worry himself sick that they will suffocate, but he worries about everything, and they say that it cannot happen anyway. He will be very happy with the idea though because he could never figure out how on earth to get DD swaddled good and tight, he always gave up and handed her to me to re-swaddle

Wow! This weather! We went to the beach today with DD and the water was warm! I never expect that up here, but it was absolutely lovely. I was thinking that all those in the water must just be mad, but as soon as I felt it hit me I knew why. Still never went far past my ankles though But, in my defence, my ankle/mid calf was DD's bottom, when it splashed, and she still had her top on, so I couldn't really go any deeper.

barbareebaa · 26/07/2008 20:17

Hi everyone!!

So jealous of you twinkling and your trip to the seaside!! I want to paddle in the sea

Me and dh went to London to spend a voucher on baby stuff but it was hot hot hot on the tube and everywhere!! When we got back I ran a cold bath and it was sooo nice - but not as good as going in the sea!!

Hope you're all having a nice evening!!

bx

MerryMarigold · 27/07/2008 07:15

hi you lot.

barbs. glad dh is focussing on YOU and baby this weekend ! The cold bath sounds lovely. I was in central london too yesterday (I drove in with ds, doh!) and my ankles were balloons.

mum2becks, i rarely sleep well - hot, cold or indifferent. not sure there is a cure. i get up and eat/ have a drink, then try again. If it goes past 40mins-1hr then I get up and come here, catch up the thread, research nappies etc. It's nice to do it when you have total peace and quiet. But then, I do need a nap in the day with ds.

I feel a bit weird today. I think I am just hot and tired - and it is 7am! I should be refreshed and cool. I hope all is ok...I have a busy day planned, but may just have to cancel some/ all of it. Got a friend's goodbye party, she will not be happy if I don't go, and I really want to go, but also can't put babies at risk.

vio · 27/07/2008 07:46

Hi everyone, can I join?

I am due in Nov, I have a son, DS1, who sadly passed away last year ( 28Apr07- 11 Sep07), he was born with a genetic condition called Epidermolysis Bullosa, he had the most severe type and is fatal in infancy. He's my hero and will always be.

I am now pregnant again, lots of ups and downs though as every pregnancy theres 1 in 4 chance that tbe baby will inherit the condition, had CVS tested at 10wks, it's a little girl and she's fine, she hasn't inherited the condition. We are thankful that we have been given another chance to be parents again.

I am so looking forward to be a mum again. Hope everyone's well.

barbareebaa · 27/07/2008 09:44

Hi Vio

lovely to have you here!! What a terribly sad time you have had, so, so sorry about the loss of your son.

Congratulations on your pregnancy! When is your EDD?

Just want to say how lovely everyone is on here - I find it hard to tear myself away some days!!

Barbs xx

misdee · 27/07/2008 09:48

Hi Vio

I remember you and your ds1 story, he was beautiful, and so strong.

so happy you are joining us for your dd, girls are a bit of a novelty on this thread, as most people here are having boys. welcome!

misdee · 27/07/2008 09:50

twinkling, thank you for the offer on the sling, my sister has a kari me which i may borrow, and my other sister has offered me a sling as well.
