chocO - sorry forgo to wish you happy bday yesterday. I hope you had a lovely, lovely picnic. We had weird weather, really hot and sunny and then looked like it was going to tip it, but it never actually did!I'm sure with your optimistic outlook on life you didn't give up on the picnic...So hope you had a great time.

barbs, sorry dh was out so late. I'm sure he had every good intention of not upsetting you and coming in on time, but a few bevvies later it all goes out of the window. Anyway, won't be for much longer. He will not be able to do weekend drinking with workmates once you have littl'un, you will want him around at the weekend and so will the baby/ kid. And no-one wants a grump round the house for the whole of Sunday - I mean, that's half the time you are going to spend together as a family all week!

I'm being insomoniac again. Better than last 2 nights though, I lasted till 5am today! Was shattered. Had 8 people round to dinner to say goodbye to a friend of ours who has been staying here nearly a year and now going back to Oz.

Dozymare · 20/07/2008 07:21

Pinky have a fabulous time camping, we shall miss you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Will be very interested to hear how you get on, as we are booked for a week away in August to the cotswolds (staying at red tartan lasses amazing place) and DH is really up for taking the boys out into wilderness camping....you can literally catch your own fish and cook on a fire which he is soooo up for!) I would love to go for the fun of it, but worry that if i get down on the floor to sleep I won't get up again!!!!

Choc Happy birthday!!!!!!!!!!!! How did your picnic go???? Weather held off??? I can remember my first birthday without a drink (whilst PG) and I was NOT happy watching everyone else have a decent drink whilst I smiled and actually, was a bit bored of the drunken chat.....Now, on my 3rd PG it has taken me to actually be ok with it (not drinking) as I don't drink anything when PG...can'[t wait to pop this little one as I do like a glass of Red in the evening......

Barbs bloody men, my DH is exactly the same, there is "sober time" and "twa**ed" time....as MMG says, once the LO arrives he will soon realise that kids and hangovers don't mix!!!!! As for not rowing, that is very good.....DH and I are known as punch and Judy - we bicker all the time!!!! Literally........lukily we have a very strong and loving marriage, although we are polar opposites in every way!!

lacksadaisy would you like first dibs on my boy's 0-6m stuff then??!! What is the best way to do this????? Straight swop??!!!

What is everyon up to today, any nice plans????

DM x

bubbaz · 20/07/2008 08:58

Morning All, Dozy glad your scan was lovely and you got to put your mind at rest.
Lacks hope DD is better soon.
Barbs hope DH wasn't too late I have similar problems with my DH he doesn't go out much but when he does he can't limit himself and comes home tw**ted too. it can be very frustrating!!
Well I'm off for a picnic too today with my Dad and step mum in the lake district its a lovely day so far so it should be nice.
Hope everyone has a nice day x

ChocOrange05 · 20/07/2008 11:53

Morning all!

Thanks for the happy birthday messages - I had a lovely day . Started off with breakfast in the Garden - pancakes and waffles cooked by DH, then the picnic which was nice and it didn't rain (although I must have taken off/put on my cardigan a zillion times) and then dinner at a local italian in the evening follwed by a film snuggled up with DH to end the night. Got some lovely presents too - a nice purse from DH and DH even contacted the hotel where we had our honeymoon and ordered one of the fancy dressing gowns I liked - impressive since the hotel was in Hawaii! Also got some nice mat clothes and some of my friends got together and bought me a pregnancy glow package at Cupcake Spa in Wandsworth (anyone been??) It includes a massage, a facial and a nap!! I love the nap bit

All in all I felt thoroughly spoiled!

Anyway - enough about me...

DM really pleased you had a good scan and can now rest easy buying pink clothes!

Barb - although my DH is a darling, sometimes he is also just like yours and I have lost count of the number of times a quick beer turned into the opposite - I hope you are making him make up for it today!

Pinky enjoy camping!

Right - off to put up the cot which arrived yesterday! Have a good day everyone! x

ceebee74 · 20/07/2008 12:40

Choc - glad you had a good day - the presents sound fantastic and your DH is v thoughtful!!

Dozy - yay for the scan yesterday. I am sure that must be a huge relief and it makes it so much easier now doesn't it? I know I am finding it much easier this time round knowing for sure that 'bump' is definitely a boy than with DS where they weren't 100% sure.

Pinky - enjoy the camping (even though you will have gone by now!)

Barb - men eh?? I guess your DH is enjoying his last few months of freedom before the sleepness nights etc start?

Is anyone else still exercising? I am still going to aerobics twice a week and am wondering when I should stop/slow down? I am not struggling at all (I don't do all the high-impact moves etc anymore but I do do some) so feel that I should carry on if it feels ok - what is everyone else doing?

x

barbareebaa · 20/07/2008 15:32

hi All!

Cor I was a moany old moan bag yesterday - sorry about that!! Dh came home at 1am ver ver drunk and looking sorry for himself. I made him a cheese sandwich and bandaged a cut finger and sent him off to bed

Merry soz you're still pooped. Hope it settles down soon and you get a decent nights kippage.

choc So pleased you had a lovely birthday and the rain held off! What a lot of thoughtful friends and lovely dh you have

Bubbaz hope you're having a nice time on your picnic!

Ceebee 'fraid I never exercised in the first place although walk for about 40 mins a day (to/ from work) I start off striding and end up sauntering!! Do you not find you need to go to the loo all the time? I'm kind of o.k until I move about

Well dh is at work again today so have just had a spot of lunch and am going to watch TV!

Hope everyones having a nice day,

Barbs

ceebee74 · 20/07/2008 20:08

Gosh it is quiet round here this weekend! Typical - you are all so chatty during the week when I struggle to MN and when I am around, no-one else is

Barbs - yes, I do struggle a bit with needing a wee but the urge seems to go once I am halfway through the class! However, in normal life, I am finding it difficult as I can go for ages without needing a wee if I am sat down but the minute I stand up, the need to wee is almost painful

sparkletoes · 20/07/2008 20:09

Hi everyone

ChocO your birthday sounds like it was fab! Dressing gowns are my new obsession (now I have finally ordered a 'leaving hospital' all in one for the baby! Know I'm gonna need a good cosy d/gown for all the night time changes etc during the winter..

Barbs good for you for maintaining the moral high ground, he's a lucky chap your DH!

Ceebs, I have all the intentions of going swimming/exercising but never get round to it I'm afraid. Well done u!

Just been at my sister's birthday lunch it was really nice and DS had a great time but my mum was a complete witch as usual. Won't bore you with the details but in end I just told DH we were leaving as I needed to get away... Feel completely deflated as usual, should really stop going up to their house, not good for my stress levels

Hope u r all having good weekend x

ceebee74 · 20/07/2008 20:14

Evening Sparks - cross posts!

Sorry your mum makes you feel bad - my mum does that to me aswell and it makes me both and - not sure what they hope to achieve by it tbh! My mum's latest is to try and make me feel guilty for returning to work once this baby is born - the worst bit was a very unsubtle hint that DS has somehow been 'ruined' by going to nursery when in fact I know he has thrived by being there - you only need to see his face once he gets in and sees his friends!!

Anyway, I think with mums like this, all we can do is ignore the barbed comments etc!

x

sparkletoes · 20/07/2008 20:23

Hi Ceebs,

That is soo spooky that was the same thing that just happened to me! - Not helped by DH announcing to everyone that he often picks up DS and is advised by the nursery that there has been an 'incident' (usually DS biting one of the other boys). Now I am not condoning biting but the only boy this happens to it the one that DS has known his whole life so they are in fact very close! Like brothers almost so they are not scared to exert their feelings towards each other! And obviously some times is goes too far... in fact the nursery have even said that these incidents are always provoked in some way and he never does this with anyone else. Anyway I am not happy about it but also not sure if I can do anything to stop it since I am not there at time!

DS also loves nursery in fact he asks if he is going at weekends!

I do usually ignore her useless comments but think being PG makes it harder - hormones or something!

Change subject have you bought anything else recently??

ceebee74 · 20/07/2008 20:32

Sparks - that really is spooky! I honestly do think we are living parallel lives I just console myself that things were different 30+ years ago when me and my siblings were children.

I spent a small fortune on the Next sale on Thursday - bought quite a few baby boy things which were just gorgeous!! I know you haven't found out the flavour of yours (but am guessing that it may be a boy as we are in fact the same person ) but I have found it great being able to buy stuff and know it is ok.

Have pretty much decided on the tandem pushchair but DH wants to see if there is a local shop that stocks it so we can try it rather than just order it from the internet - but then again, DH is the worst procrastinator in the world and it infuriates the hell out of me so I may just end up ordering it anyway - can always send it back

What about you?

x

ceebee74 · 20/07/2008 20:33

Also, what 'all in one' did you get? I am still looking for one.

sparkletoes · 20/07/2008 20:40

LOL yes it certainly seems like we are the one person, should be on the x-files!

Yes I was at the Next sale today but not much to buy when you don't know the flavour so realised the disadvantage of not finding out the hard way! Have ordered a lovely all-in-one from the non-sale at Next (white) and got some cream/brown vests from M&S today.

I am still interested in looking at the Marco sky tandem and Safety 1st one for the main reason that they don't look as long as the Graco one. But will all depend on how easy they are too push, would deffo advise that you try before you buy as some of the tandems I have seen have been awful to push even in the shop! But yes there is the send it back option if you don't get a chance... I will report back my findings as soon as we have a look in the Pram Centre - hopefully next weekend.

sparkletoes · 20/07/2008 20:42

this one

sparkletoes · 20/07/2008 20:44

Marco sky and Safety 1st

bubbaz · 20/07/2008 21:03

Sparkle and Ceebee sorry to butt in on your convo but I have seen the safety first and it is lovely and not much longer then my M&P pramette, Baby gets a lovely cosy nest bit at the back - Not much room once they are bigger but then DCs will prob be walking more then anyway!I know of someone with a marco sky who loved it for older children but was quite short and struggled to reach the handles when bck was fully reclined as the handles are quite high. Hope this helps.
I am going to have an early night tonight I'm goosed!

sparkletoes · 20/07/2008 21:11

Thanks Bubbaz! Not butting in at all this is a public thread!! Yes the high handles are part of the appeal for the Marco sky to me as I am tall-ish.

ceebee74 · 20/07/2008 21:22

Bubbaz - lol - you are not butting in at all!!

Sparks - I like the look of both of those - but we have nowhere like the Pram Centre near us (or not that I know of anyway!). I will look forward to your reports

Am off to bed now - I need an early night (although these days, every night is an 'early night')

tegan · 20/07/2008 21:29

Hello ladies, i haven't been on for a few days as i have been buggy hunting. And tonight i have purchased a M&P pilko p3 with car seat and carry cot in bright red which i absolutely love.

sparkletoes · 20/07/2008 21:30

Will deffo let u know how i get on, off to bed too now, speak soon xx

Oblomov · 21/07/2008 08:23

Dozy, I am so glad tht you have had confirmation.

I have not been exercising. But since not being able to drive, I have been riding my bike alot. With ds(4.5)on the back. I am not sure it is such a good idea . I have been very breathless and struggling to pish pedals round. He weighs a tonne. That can'e be good, can it ?

Dh and I have been having exercise of our own . 4 Times on Saturday. Well it was our wedding anniversary. Thats his annual quota in one day then

ChocOrange05 · 21/07/2008 08:53

Obs 4 times!?!? I am impressed!

Tinkerisdead · 21/07/2008 09:31

Oblomov, 4 times????? omg. i cant just about muster once a week at the moment, and thats with the added bonus of my "heightened sensitivity due to pregnancy" im in awe of you!!

Congrats to dozymare on your private scan and pink confirmation on saturday. Agree that private scan is amazing, much more personal service. I got fab photos when i had mine, sonographer took pictures of fingers and toes etc for me.

ChocOrange your birthday sounds like a lovely day, glad your DH made such an effort to spoil you. hope you enjoyed it

Im so proud of myself, I got up at 8, dusted all the rooms, wiped the kitchen surfaces, filled dishawasher and cleaned bathrooms. Now ive got a load of washing on and i can mumsnet guilt free and finish my book too. Im also knitting a red blanket to match my pram

Oblomov · 21/07/2008 09:37

Don't get too excited. We are a bit like that anyway. Nothing for weeks and weeks and then lots.
Today, I am typing in a plastic suit. Dh bought it for me to paint in. I am doing a 50/50 of paint and water, first. I am splattered from head to toe already.

Oblomov · 21/07/2008 09:39

All these people with cleaning going on.
The nesting instinct has settled in early on the Nov 08 thread, eh ?
DrsWife is at it already today
I do hope mine kicks in soon. Hasn't so far.
