waytoomuchchocolate · 14/07/2008 14:08

toomuchchocolate falls, in relief, into the cocktail corner as well...I saw sexand the city the movie last night and am bemoaning loss of normal life (not that it ever really resembled SJP if i'm really honest!)

ladies, i too have reached the stage of moaning. AND i've still got 7 weeks to go at everyone else who is nearly there...

TS I'm not leaking anything yet either, just so you know you're not the only one

pregnancy1 · 14/07/2008 14:10

Albs you are too nice for your own good. You feel rubbish and have tonnes to do, but you are letting DH have the evening off? Our DH's can never meet as mine will realise how hard done by he is
We're out for dinner tonight - we have a free 3 course meal courtesy of my toptable points (collected pre-pregnancy when still had a social life and met friends for dinner at least twice a week). Am looking forward to it, even if it's a place that specialises in meat and I have to have everything well done and I can't have a nice glass of red with it [even angrier emoticon!]. I'm not a saint - my body has just made me hate alcohol (probably because I swore I'd never give up my daily glass of wine. I also swore I'd never bf as it freaked me out, but within 3 months of being pregnant my bigger boobs soon changed my mind).
However, I know from last week's experience, that my bouyant mood will soon be shattered when I get home late tonight and am crabby for the rest of the week. Can I book a place in the corner with you for tomorrow morning?

TS are we to call off bets on you being the first? Have the contractions eased off? Are you okay?

alittlebitshy · 14/07/2008 14:23

oh no preg1 he's not getting the eve off -he's got to do bath and bedtime, he just got the swimming lesson bit off!!!!! I'm not that nice. He's got to go to another meeting once dd is in bed so he won't have time to sit and relax

ooh - meal out. V nice! where is it????

bealcain · 14/07/2008 14:23

PF are tats tits? and you do have to rember i'm only a young bee so i;m really not that scary,i am from the original hoody generation though!! lol

PG1 one night of rare steak won't kill you. in fact i've been having mine rare all along as i cant stand it any other way. if it was socially acceptable i'd eat it raw!!

no who mentioned pimms? that's really got my tastebuds going...just a really unrelated question does anyone know of an imitation pimms? i know supermarkets do one for bailey's and martini and pretty much every other drink but never seen pimm's??

pregnancy1 · 14/07/2008 14:27

Ah, good, I had visions of you doing all the cooking, cleaning, washing, putting your DD to bed etc whilst your DH sat with his feet up!

Going to the Bountiful Cow - a gastro-pub near Holborn. Get a free 3 course meal for both of us, I do love a bargain .

pregnancy1 · 14/07/2008 14:29

Belcain - I know, I've gone off it though. I still miss the fact I used to love it and don't like it well done as much as I did like it medium rare (not sure that makes sense. but hope you get the gist).

Oh - my mum used to have a recipe to make your own Pimms (and Baileys). I can call her and get it off her if you can be bothered.

alittlebitshy · 14/07/2008 14:30

AH pants - I just remembered that the last time i drove to the swimmining ppol I pranged the farkin car on the way in. let's hope i manage NOT to this time!!

bealcain · 14/07/2008 14:34

pg1 i cant be arsed right now, but the recipe would be fab! cheers hun.

Albs you know now though that you;ll be concentrating so hard on not hitting anything on the way in, that you'll do it on the way out!!

alittlebitshy · 14/07/2008 14:34

reallt can't put off going on school run any longer. Think in my hormonal state I imagine that none of the other mums like me (despite fact I've managed to have conversations etc etc with them for the last 18 months ). Sigh. I am quite a lot younger than a lot of them though, so I've got a complex about that.....Even this baby (i'll be 29 when it's born) won't have me as one of the older, or even average aged mums in the playgroud in it's class, i imagine......

Oh for normal monthly hormones rather than rampaging consatnly icky preggy ones

alittlebitshy · 14/07/2008 14:35

Thanks bealcain.

bealcain · 14/07/2008 14:37

ALBS be proud you're so young. At least you;re probably dealing with motherhood far bettr than they could ever hope to. i lvoe being so young and being a mum and still having the opportunity to get a career that i wont ever have to put on hold for anyone other than me!!

YEAH!! So I can consider myself normal? Cheers to the non-leakers!!! I've been sitting here for weaks listening to the leak chatter thinking .

Pregnancy1, I've been meditating on slowing the contractions and that seems to be helping. I'm still tightening but not like Saturday and Sunday. Amazing the mind over matter concept. I don't want to be first.

Alittlebitshy, Supta Baddha Konasana is the official name of the pose I slept in most of the night. {{twilight tries to keep her yoga nerdiness hidden}} It's just one I've always used for other reasons and seemed like a good one to give baby's head some room (and maybe even allowed it to move down a little more WITHOUT the need for contractions). I can see how the SPD folks would be cringing though. Sorry. But it really was comfortable.

VintageGardenia · 14/07/2008 14:57

TS another non-leaker here. I think your attitude is good - if it works, great, if it doesn't, I'll take it on the chin and my child will be fine. As for keeping your yoga nerdiness hidden don't you remember you outed yourself a couple of weeks ago with dizzy and the legs up the wall thing?? So too late .

albs I was 26 when DS was born, am 36 now and probably the youngest mother in DS's class, they are generally around 40. For this baby by the time it goes to school I'll be in the older mum bracket and I've been thinking Noooooo! So enjoy being one of the younger ones! I wish it were me. The school gate can be a bit like being at school yourself sometimes (and I always instinctively straighten my skirt when I see the headmistress, too) but you know in your heart that actually no-one is thinking anything negative about you. They are all too caught up in themselves.

LOL at are tats tits bealcain and you're the one with them! I must say I don't have any myself, nor does DP, but I can see how sweet of your DH to have your name written on his body.

Tats, that is, not tits.

waytoomuchchocolate · 14/07/2008 14:57

sazzles is the baby moving again like before? mine has also stopped moving as much - has gone from almost non-stop to just the odd kick or heave....sort of not worried as it's definitely still moving, but still wondering what's happened...are you the same?

PetitFilou1 · 14/07/2008 15:00

Bealcain No tats = tattoos not tits (made me lol though) NB It was me who mentioned Pimms

TS Glad we made you feel better!

albs Don't worry about being a youngster - better that than feeling ancient like I do! I'm not bothered about age, just whether I have things in common with people. The mums at the local pre-school are mostly pretty different to me (even if the same age) as very few work and I've had a career up to this point. Also a lot of them seem to have given up on their appearance and look like they've forgotten about themselves (if I can say that without sounding rude which I'm not sure I can) Mums at the private nursery I use are more similar but don't have time to talk and are always rushing everywhere.

Back to trying to do some work....IT is completely shafted at the moment so feeling a bit frustrated...

bealcain · 14/07/2008 15:00

The penny has just dropped VG can i blame that on pregnancy or is just plain naivity??

TS i've been imagining my cervix opening like a lotus flower, trying to speed it up!! lol

AnnVan · 14/07/2008 15:11

Hi, all! Olny got up about 1.30 and already feel like I need a nap! Are any of those drinks left btw? most annoying thing about pg - can't drink wine due to heartburn, really miss things like soft cheeses, pate, med rare steak and cigarettes. Are smokers allowed in the cocktail corner?

cyteen · 14/07/2008 15:12

bealcain how sweet of your DH to get such a meaningful tattoo. I loves tattoos as well and am definitely looking forward to getting some more one day, not to mention finishing my backpiece if I ever get the chance. Ho hum, just another thing that's off the menu while pregnant.

Still, I'm glad to see so many of us in the moody corner - it's turning into a right little party. Let me take this moment to assure all Aug 08 ladies that the Corner of Mood has a fully stocked and operational bar, do help yourselves ladies

Perhaps my moodiness isn't just hormones though - as the day's gone on I've realised that I actually do feel quite shit. Headache, sicky, wobbly, too hot, aching...think I am a bit over-tired from the weekend. Thankfully we've got freezer food for tea and supermarket crumble for dessert, that's one less thing to bother about at least.

TwilightSurfer · 14/07/2008 15:19

Bealcain, good job!! I want my lotus to stay closed for a bit longer though.

Just posted what could be my last belly shot. I should probably watch myself around sharp objects as it looks like I could easily POP.

Sazzles, my baby's been a bit slow to get moving this morning. She was so busy yesterday I think she just wore herself out. I'm getting only very slight movements.

DD is playing doors...out one, in another. She's going for her well-child check-up today and isn't happy about that so I'm letting her do whatever she wants until time to leave. I'm just happy I finally get to take her for a well-child visit seems like her doc hasn't seen her well in AGES.

cyteen - there is nothing wrong with getting tatoos whilst pregnant or breastfeeding!! i though there was but whe i researched and asked mw she said it was fine!!

cyteen · 14/07/2008 15:48

Interesting...I always suspected it was more a matter of personal judgement than outright banning, although I think I'd probably still not do it while pregnant just cos it's an extra stress on my body what with all the adrenaline flying around. Not that I've got any money for new ink anyway, having spent it all on bloody knicker bricks and elasticated trousers.

I'm on a right whinge mission today, aren't I?

bealcain · 14/07/2008 15:52

lol and also the fact that skin is more sensitive in pregnancy...i remember getin my bikini line done for honeymoon- ouch
