ataraxis I have a friend called Oriana and she's known to all as Rio I ^love Ariana/Ariane...so pretty. Girl names are so much easier than boy names, which of course is why we're having a boy.

TwilightSurfer · 15/07/2008 23:08

NOTE: I started this post after the stats posted but got a phone call....sorry.

Goodness I've stumbled into a mess of names haven't I.

Just home from doctor...getting very close to where I was when waters broke last time but won't bore you with the actual numbers. Calling MIL later to tell her to come on up. Doc said I definitely won't last four more weeks and that I'm even lower than when he saw me on Saturday. He said eat well and get loads of rest. DUH!! What I thought was the baby disengaging is just the baby swivelling (is that the right word?). He said he could clearly feel her head and not to worry he didn't think she had any room to flip in at this point. Soooooooo all's good just waiting.......

Dizzy cheers so much for that list! Much appreciated. A bit of late night brain activity for me and DH - ta for positive feedback on George too, we're really pleased with it and it's gone down well so far.

Owen is one of our top boys names, as is Harry/Henry and Arthur, which you mentioned. Girls are still a bit of a mystery - I really like Kate but can't really have it as it's already too close in the family and we're milling around with Mia, Clara, Daisy, Alice, Emily...

Ta again for your help - will check in again tomorrow to see if either of us has had any further inspiration. Night night.

stillhere · 15/07/2008 23:14

Ooh, TS, just caught your post. Really am going to bed now but wanted to wish you all the best. Thinking of you and sending positive thoughts your way...

TwilightSurfer · 16/07/2008 03:14

Please accept my apologies. I have been the worst thread member today. Every time I have started reading and posting SOMEONE or SOMETHING has interrupted my time. Now it's 10PM and I've got to go to bed. I promise to reread today's posts and comment, especially on the names as someone likes OWEN...which would have been our boy name.

Night

bealcain · 16/07/2008 07:20

TS you may still beat me yet!! just a quick question why do some names have smileys next to them? only i don't have, thinking perhaps i'm not special anymore!!

Shazza hope you get camera sorted today, just ley it on thick that you're really pregnant, they'll understand! lol

dizzy why can't you have the August name? if a boy you could have Augustus!! I really like Autumn, but would look a bit silly in the summer!!

ooooo stillhere Oscar is lovely, go with that lol

Ataraxis, how about names ending in Anna/Anne? Juliana, Eliana, Sylvianne, Carrieanne etc?

Dizzy Austin is derived from Augustus, how about that?

Woke up in much pain this morning, clinging to the headboard with that labour-y buttock-ache and a big contraction. Couldn't sleep for ages scared of next contraction but never got one LOL, perfect example of adrenalin inhibiting oxytocin. What a wuss, think my early VBAC fantasy will remain just that.

Shazza2002 · 16/07/2008 08:16

Morning ladies

I just want to say a big well done to all those who have toddlers and are pregnant. I volunteered to look after my nephew who's 2. He's only been here since 6:30am and I'm knackered. I just keep reassuring myself, it's because I'm not use to it and it's different when it's your own. Makes me realise how easy we have it with DD.

I will be able to cope with a newborn, I will

Good plan sazzles

I think you're just more relaxed with your own. Where as I'm suddenly in charge of this 2 year old who has so much energy. I have a feeling it's going to be a looonnnggg day. When will I get time for my afternoon snooze This wasn't how maternity leave was supposed to be I'm thinking of the positives though, will help to keep me active

ChaCha · 16/07/2008 08:39

Morning ladies,

Shazza - Had to LOL at thought of perfect maternity leave with 2 year old. Tis definitely more difficult when not your own. Do you have LO all day and does she/he nap? My two still nap together after lunch so usually there is some guaranteed respite.

TS - Hope you are feeling well this morning.

I called observation to ask when i should arrive for the infusions. Told no beds and to call back at 12.30 to see if anything was available Feeling a tad stressed as was told Wed, Fri and Sun and now have my mum up at the crack of dawn on way and DH rearranged his work schedule to be around for the DC - Grrrr.

Good news for the day is that DH has picked a new bathroom suite and will collect today Think the plus side of my terrible half finished paint job is that DH is sick of looking at it and wants something new, hurray! DC have obviously been in at the Red Bull so better get the morning's plan into action x

pregnancy1 · 16/07/2008 08:41

Grrr - how annoying. I just wrote a big long post and then lost it when I tried to post. harumph.
I have no idea how anyone with kids does it either - I'm struggling just to waddle into work myself and sit at my desk all day, never mind run after small children....

My friend has leant me a fabulous baby book that links/groups names, so if you know you like Anna you can look it up and it will give you other similar names. Same with styles, if you know you like classic names... anyway, shout if you want me to look up any names and list the suggested alternatives as I'm working from home today .
I also have my NHS class on labour (and my NCT this evening), so shout if you think of any questions you want me to ask (my husband keeps telling me he'd go through the labour for me if he could, so I'm going to ask how we can make that happen )
Albs I've been trying to work out if we can be any use to you today as we're in Whipps this afternoon and going straight back to woodford, but I think the timing is a bit off as we're there from 2-4pm and I think your appointment is after that.... sorry. I may stick my nose in the waiting room on our way out to see how you are doing though (and shout if that timing does work for you - we live about a 3 min drive from the Hawkey hall).

cyteen · 16/07/2008 08:52

Morning ladies,

Well, I've woken up feeling like complete shit again today Mentally, not physically. Feel like a complete failure, all those things half-done or not done are haunting me, I'm struggling to organise my thoughts enough to properly write up this draft dissertation chapter that was supposed to be emailed to my supervisor in early July (lol). Plus I feel completely unsexy, unattractive and like I am just a walking vessel for this baby - am fed up of lack of intimacy with DP, it's making me sad.

It's my brother's birthday on Saturday which is probably not helping.

SO I have formulated a plan. I'm going to work on my essay till noon, writing up more notes and knocking it into some kind of shape, then email whatever I've got to my supervisor with some explanatory notes about what I have and haven't done - at least then she'll have some evidence that I have actually been working, and she can advise me on how to shape my ideas. Then I'm going to take a long hot shower, put on some nice clothes and some make up, and go into town where I will (a) pick up the last few baby-related bits and pieces such as raspberry leaf tea, and (b) sit in a nice quiet cafe with a big cup of hot chocolate and write in my diary/read a good book for a while. As much as anything, I think I'm going a bit stir crazy from being in the house on my own all day, so getting out into the world is a priority today.

pregnancy1 · 16/07/2008 08:56

Cyteen that sounds like a brilliant plan. When I have a big piece of work to do I always get in the same situation - you don't want to hand it over until it's as good as you can get it, but that just means you sit on it for too long. Am sure your tutor will understand/help.
Quiet time also sounds great - do make sure you get at least an hour to do nothing. Hope it all helps x

cyteen · 16/07/2008 09:05

Oh god yes, the perfectionism...the drive to make everything just right that actually means you just end up tearing your hair out over half-finished work

Enjoy working from home today - I trust you have a comfy seat and a well-stocked snack selection to hand?

punksnotdead · 16/07/2008 09:09

Hi Ladies Hope you are all doing ok. Went to hospital for check up yesterday 35 + 4 and 4/5 palpable she then asked if i had had some steroids which made we wonder but she said i should be ok and the hope i make it to my CS date on 7th. So who knows may get to see the little lady sooner!!! Just need to find a house now would be great to come home to our own space rather than the in laws, brother girlfriend and 23 dogs and 17 cats!!!!!! Health Visitor will have a heart attack!!!!!

Shazza2002 · 16/07/2008 09:15

chacha I've only got him today, the rest of MY maternity leave is just that, mine! Well until DD breaks up for summer next Wednesday. He does nap somedays but have a feeling today isn't going to be one of those days I must have missed your earlier posts aswell, what are these 'infusions' you have to have?

cyteen Sometimes when you feel like you have a mountain to climb the thought can actually be worse than the doing. Tell me to P off if you like. But I found this when doing my revision for exams, the more I thought the more I got stressed, but when I actually started to tackle it bit by bit it wasn't so bad. Then you have a nice cup of hot chocolate to look forward to I have also been reading more, just stops all the worrying and thinking for a while doesn't it.

CaptainCaveman · 16/07/2008 09:31

chacha praying they get you a bed sorted for your infusion today - you can borrow ds' blow up Thomas bed if you like and offer to take that in?

ts sounds exciting re. birth date arriving sooner rather than later

bealcain how are your contractions now? How is that baby staying in? Must have crampons on his/her feet

buckets perhaps your body is 'kindly' reminding you what's in store? Sounds kind of painful.....

dizzy hope your mum is painfree and comfy again today? How are you coping with it all?

cyteen it's hard enough being pg without the stress of study on top! You sound like you have a good plan though for today . Happy shopping for later.

annvan am emailing the phone numbers today. In fact I will do that next.

shazza me and sazzles have jinxed your camera - am v sorry . We just felt so left out with not getting a leaving prezzie from our respective work places

good morning to anyone I haven't mentioned personally - hope everyone has a jolly lovely day

Shazza2002 · 16/07/2008 09:40

It's fine cc Once I read the user manual I think I managed to sort it

ChaCha · 16/07/2008 09:41

Shazza - Hope the day passes relatively smoothly for you. What part of W.London are you in if you don't mind me asking? I am originally a W.Londoner Oh, infusions (what i had actually been referring to as transfusions ) for iron. My iron levels are v.low and i cant take any form of other iron for some reason - makes me quite ill so have 3 days of infusions to look fwd to

Punksnotdead - Awwww...but will they all be helping you and giving you some rest too? If you're looking for a house hope it happens for you soon.

Cyteen - Sounds like you have the perfect plan to hand. Yesterday morning before the 'feel like crap' syndrome kicked in I wore something nice that didn't make me feel like a space hopper, make up, did hair (well it wasn't all brushed back for a change) made a mocha and have some peace at table before dealing with the DC and their next activity. Must admit to feeling better even just for that. Agree on the intimacy front as well. Hope you get to coffee shop and just chill for a while.
Re: your brother's b'day - i'm sorry, as said before i must have missed your earlier posts when i wasn't able to post here - thinking of you anyway.

PG1 - Going to work can be just as hard. I remember the dread of commuting at times especially the smell of cooked food on the morning train and the desperate need to fall asleep at the drop of a hat...i took mat leave at 25 weeks!! Impressed that many of you are so still going strong.

x

alittlebitshy · 16/07/2008 09:43

Pregnancy1 that was yesterday - lol, but thanks!!! We made it to everything (though we had to discover parts of woodford we didn't know cos there was a big crash on Broadmead, so we had to detour all round and about to get back onto the road further up....)

miamla sorry I didn't get back to you.

TS can you update me on the stats. i am now 29. grumpy birthday though. waaah. Dh has given me an itunes voucher so I can fill my ipod with some new tunes for when I'm in hosp - yay!!!

Just off to go and get fitted for nursing bras. will be back later.

oh -and at my app yesterday I was told I'm going in next weds eve as I'm first on the list on Thurs. ARGH!!!!!!!

cyteen · 16/07/2008 09:45

Eek albs! A week today! Good heavens And happy birthday

CaptainCaveman · 16/07/2008 09:50
