Well it was bad news. Foetus stopped growing three weeks ago. It was horribly obvious as soon as I saw it on the screen.

Anyway, going in tomorrow for surgery to get everything removed, blah, blah, ah so depressing.

I really hope I'm the last one on this thread with this kind of news. Good luck to you all, I'll be thinking of you in February.

Please take me off the list.

Guitargirl · 24/07/2008 18:30

Ah Sarah, am so sorry. Really hoped it would be positive news for you.

Gina80 · 24/07/2008 19:14

ruthmollymummy · 24/07/2008 20:52

Hi everyone, I've been absent for a wee while but would like to stick myself back in the action!
I had a scan two weeks ago and it was amazing to see the difference between dd1 (who was scanned at standard 12 weeks) and little bean as i got an early scan at 10 weeks (rubbishy problems last time...)
anyhoo it was so exciting!
and what else is exciting is - I'm not throwing up anymore!! bring on swelling, heartburn and general bleurgh!

oh and one more thing - my sister has picked her wedding date - 9th of January. and guess who she wants to be her bridesmaid...... hahhahahahaaa

hums the tune to nelly the elephant as I wobble down the aisle

laidbackinengland · 24/07/2008 20:58

Hi ruthmollysmummy - great that your scan went well. 8 months pregnant is not a great time to be a bridemaid !!

herbgarden · 24/07/2008 21:07

SOrry Sarah to hear your sad news....take care of yourself..

We have a very long list of people don't we and not a lot of posters...

I am looking noticeably fatter now.I'm not a big girl really but do have a bit of a midriff - the growth though has started under my boobs (so side on it's a noticeable sort of 45 degree angle IYSWIM) like it did last time at nearer 20 weeks ?! I'm shocked tbh at the growth this time compared to last and also how hard I'm finding it to get into my trousers/clothes already. Work has been the hardest since I don't wear particularly loose clothing to work anyway and have had to find different tops etc to wear so that it's not obvious - if no-one has guessed by the time I tell them in a couple of weeks then I'll be very shocked ....

Sleeping has not improved and I seem to be awake from about 1 - 3pm every night although it is all quite stressful round here at the moment (house purchase/sale trundling along and we're under pressure from our Seller now) so I'm finding it hard to relax...wish I could switch off. Any tips for clearing a spinning mind at 2am would be much appreciated.

PinkTulips · 24/07/2008 21:07

sarah i'm so sorry this has happened to you. good luck for the future.

rosieposey · 25/07/2008 08:04

Oh Sarah i am so sorry for you what a terrible thing to have happened, be good to yourself and good luck for the future with your wedding and for the next time you conceive - hope you are on another ante natal thread very soon. x

LittleMissNorty · 25/07/2008 08:58

Sarah, I'm so sorry

Take care of yourself....

dinkystinky · 25/07/2008 09:38

LittleSarah - am so sorry for your loss. Please take care of yourself, your DF and your DD. I hope your future wedding goes well and that you're on another ante natal thread soon.x

dinkystinky · 25/07/2008 09:41

Herbgarden - I suffered from stress-related insomnia a while back and found a reeeeeeeeaaaally long wind down (basically starting as soon as DS went to bed, with early light dinner, long bath, no tv, gentle music and reading) helped me to switch off and get better quality sleep. Also found not drinking any liquids after around 8.30 helped me avoid waking up in the middle of the night desperately needing the loo (am one of those people who once awake finds it virtually impossible to go back to sleep). Hope the insomnia passes soon for you.

america · 25/07/2008 10:03

Any tips on varicose veins? I developed an ugly vein in my right leg when I was pregnant with DS and now I can see a vein popping out on my left leg too!! I cannot start wearing support tights yet, I'm only 10 weeks! I'm wearing normal tights and it's killing me as it's just so warm...

Rachrox · 25/07/2008 10:39

Hi all,
Haven't posted in a while, i just tend to lurk and read everyone else's posts!

Sarah- sorry for your bad news, good luck for the future.

America- i'm not really sure what's good for veins, i think just raising your legs whenever possible.

Has anyone started telling people yet? I've had to as i'm already wearing maternity clothes (i'm only 10 weeks )!!! My dh keeps joking about twins, but i just think it's because i'm on pg4. I've got midwife coming round 2day between 12 and 5, bit annoying having to wait around all afternoon! My scan date isn't till the 11th Aug, which feels ages away.

Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine? (At least the kids can go out and play in their hols.)

laidbackinengland · 25/07/2008 10:44

Hi Rach - I have told most people as I too seem to be bursting at the seams ! Sunshine ? What's that ? We had a couple of days earlier this week (when I was at work) but it's gone all cloudy again today ! Good luck with your midwife appointment.

dinkystinky · 25/07/2008 10:53

America - my dad suffers from varicose veins so was uberparanoid about it when pregnant with DS: the tips I got given were dont wear heels, dont cross your legs, keep your legs elevated (but not above hip height) whenever possible, get some gentle exercise (to keep the circulation going in your legs) and lots of fluid (helps circulation). May be worth speaking to your doctor about what you can do to alleviate it too.

Laidback, Rachrox - am pretty sure will be moving into maternity wear soon. As it is, am making do with safety pins and my "fat clothes". Remember when I was pregnant with DS I was desperate to get into my maternity clothes (to feel more pregnant) but this time round am the other way round!

herbgarden · 25/07/2008 11:26

Must try that dinkystinky thanks - I too am not particularly excited by the thought of mat clothes either -not least because I got so bored of them last time and can't face pulling them out from under the bed.....

MarkStretch · 25/07/2008 11:31

I have a lovely shiny new haircut.

It's so silky. Why can I never make it do that at home?

I woke up this morning bursting for a wee but as a result my bump was REALLY poking out! I love it!

nadssss · 25/07/2008 13:29

Can I join? I?m just over 11 weeks and due mid feb.

Definite bump showing ? though people on the tube will just think I am a girl who likes beer.

Old ailments: morning sickness totally subsided and only a bit of faintness in the morning.

New ailments: painful gums ? and am sort of uncomfortable after eating evening meal ? anyone else?

Also ? no nuchal fold at St Mary?s Paddington as there is a delay of 8 weeks for first scans ? so my first scan will be at 16 weeks ? is that outrageous? Going private next week when I am going to try and find out the sex too!

Hope everyone is enjoying their pregnancy. I am so excited still (if rather grouchy after 4pm and not very pleasant to live with).

PinkTulips · 25/07/2008 13:33

argh, exhaustion is back and i'm in fecking maternity pants as am so behind on the washing i have nothing else clean that fits

sunshine? what's that.... had a really hot day yesterday but not much sunshin and today we're back to rainy dullness.

have 2 very sad kids as the bloody builders have locked the shed where the kittens are so we couldn't get in to see them this morning. think i'm going to have to move them but the mother barely comes into the house yet (she's very tame and cuddly but is still getting used to us) so not sure if she'll mind them if i do. one of them has a home lined up already though so can't risk leaving them in the shed as i think they're going to start work on the second phase of our estate soon and there's no way she'll keep going into the shed if the builders are there. not to mention i don't trust one of the builders not to kill them simply for existing, so many people here have it in for cats expecially stray ones, have heard of so many people killing stray kittens for no reason other than they had the audacity to be born in their garden shed

PinkTulips · 25/07/2008 13:34

hello nadsss

jelliebelly · 25/07/2008 13:47

Hi all - haven't been on for a while but having a particularly dull day at work so thought I would surf mumsnet for a bit!!

Had my 12 week scan this week and it all seems suddenly very real Had to tell everybody really as I already can't fit into most of my normal clothes - I didn't have to wear maternity clothes until much later last time around. I hate maternity wear - why can't I find the same style of clothes that I normally wear but cut for the bump? and they are always either black or pastel colours - neither of which I normally wear - it's becoming v.stressful just deciding what to wear in a morning!
