This is it!! Some of us have already started the descent into new BABYDOM. Best to arm ourselves with the facts. Here you will find the Signs of Labor. Just don't panic. Remember women around the world have been giving birth for ages. You are not alone nor will you be alone throughout this entire process. We are all here for each other no matter what. So let us go forward with heads high and bellies low.

This little quiz might also be helpful. Remember we are in this TOGETHER!!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
gigglegirl · 06/07/2008 15:00

yes my logical side is with the not yet vote but how many more days of sleeplessness, itching, pain and tears that result in me being a right bitch with everyone I can take is another question - when does the balance change? At the moment I am focussing on 38 weeks but that is still another 4 weeks which feels like a lifetime!

ChaCha · 06/07/2008 15:16

hi again, still desperately trying to sleep but to no avail - have now been awake forever! Am i the only one with these blessed piles then? Have sent DH out for stronger medication and have called for mum to be here for a couple of days. I want to do so much but can't. DH has agreed to fitting new carpet on stairs and landing and painting bathroom walls so that is something!

TS - Hope you are feeling ok? How are you now?

I cannot wait till Thursday (36+4) to get a date for my section then i can really tick off the days.

And very at roast chicken and Sunday dinners....no energy for that but would love one!

Mal00 · 06/07/2008 15:28

Hi girls. To be honest I can cope with all the late pregnancy pains. Feeling exhausted after a day out yesterday (shopping and BBQ - hardly extravagant) and haven't really moved from the sofa today - but happy to wait a few more weeks (34+4 today). What I struggle to cope with though is late pregnancy combined with working... Is everyone still working? I'm going to stop on 18th July so only two weeks to go but it feels like eternity... My job is quite demanding - late hours and stress, and they are OK with me being pregnant in principle - I suppose they have no choice... But I still feel guilty for taking time off for ante-natal classes and all the appointments, and my brain is just not the same anymore... I suppose partly because I don't care as much and I'm already mentally gone... and I've definitely lost my competitive edge in a very competitive office so am feeling really vulnerable. Just wondered how everyone else was coping with these last weeks if you are still working.

oopsacoconut · 06/07/2008 15:57

Hi All

This baby will NOT arrive early she has been prigrammed to arrive late or at least after the 16th August when DH has his big job on that day. Not seeing scarely m/wife until 16th and will N O T contact her before then unless emergency.

DH and I went into town today for lunhc - had pie and an icecream. Making big roasty chicken and veg for dinner, the advantage of bubs dropping is I can eat again.

TwilightSurfer · 06/07/2008 16:35

Yes I've noticed the lower she drops the more food I can stuff in. That was actually embarrasing last night as we had dinner at friends' house. They were kind but I'm sure they were thinking, "LOOK AT THAT GIRL EAT!"

Resting has helped my pains. I've even unpacked and repacked my hosptial bag....there were a few stupid things in it.

ChaCha, piles have become more of a problem the past week for me as the baby drops lower and lower. Wipes, Witch Hazel and Vasoline are my loves but I realize the piles will not disappear completely until the pressure causing them is removed. And I'm in not big hurry to make that happen for at least 13 days.

alittlebitshy · 06/07/2008 16:42

I've been having some back ache and period kind of pains (36 weeks today). Am sure it is just my body saying "i can't stetch anymore" but when I told my friend at school (she had her 3rd baby a month agao, at 37 weeks) she looked at me in horror.

Went to the wild west bbq/fun day at dd's school. Was good fun but exhausting, and dh sold A LOT of raffle tickets (clergy are clearly v persuasive lol).

heartburn suddenly hurting me a lot and I feel sick at the same time. ugh.

dizzydixies · 06/07/2008 17:13

Hi all, trying to grab a moment to pop in - give me a chance to at least TRY to catch up!

bealcain · 06/07/2008 17:16

Hieveryone,

ALBS - watch out for contractions!! that sounds like latent phase to me!!

Another trip to hospital for me today. Really bad headache and cramps....P>E again and poss latent phase...so again watch this space. DH back to work tomorrow, and am dreading it. he's been off for 5weeks now, o how i;ve come to rely on him...aaaahhh

CC - my ds1 keeps pretending that he's the one having a lilah. he stuffs his toys up there and pretends to be pregnant. Being a slinging mama we bought him a sling so he can carry his toys or cars or whatever around like me. He's also got a little bath and nappies for his monkey so he can do the same!

gg - definately want this one out NOW. 35+2 today. If i get to 36 i'll be happy. consultant on thursday so may try for a bit of pregnant female persuaion.

oopsacoconut · 06/07/2008 17:19

Dizzy - good to have you back, even if it's just for a peek. It's been very quiet without you.

BabiesEverywhere · 06/07/2008 17:35

My bump dropped a couple of days ago and it very uncomfortable, luckily I have had an physically easy pregnancy up until then, even jogging up and down stairs.

Now the next 30 days or so, seem to stretch out forever.

How do I get on the birth list for August ?

Ladies, old and new - I have tried to read the 6 pages but am afraid my concentration is badly letting me down

have picked up on cakes/ turkish delight/ bbqs/ home delivery pizza/ MILs/ babies not being named victoria/ sex / tickly fanjos/piles and sore bits with crutches

if I've missed anything I apologise.

been a busy time with the dixie family, mum still in palliative care ward but case conference re her treatment on Tues when we're presuming she'll be moved to the hospice. Dad not coping to well and for some reason the family are all over the place with holidays etc so it is hard on him.

dd1 had her nursery play on Thurs which went well. I had mw on Fri morning and all ok (amazingly bp included in that) was my lovely midwife and I felt like crying as was so relieved to see a friendly face (am aware how pathetic I am) and visitors from Ireland arrived on Fri afternoon.

dd1's party went well yesterday and visitors left today and bless her dd1 was sobbing in the back seat as she misses her cousin so much - she is not a highly emotional child and I have never seen her sob so my heart was completely broken - am just hoping that she's been a bit overwhelmed by the weekend and tired out and its not that she's picking up on the vibes from all of us

anyway, am doing ok and I really appreciate all your kind thoughts and messages and am missing being on here with you all, tis lovely to be back on even if only for a moment as shattered

I have another stupidly busy week and cannot belive that am so disorganised for baby - thinking credit card will be abused online tonight. I have the diabetes clinic on tues morning again so now doubt will be discussing delivery then - even I realise I can only put it off for so long [meep]

keep up the good work girls and TS would you mind terribly changing dd1 to aged 5 next time you're updating

dizzydixies · 06/07/2008 18:07

5yrs ago today I was being induced to have dd1 and now I'm sitting her waiting to hear whats going to happen with this one

what was I thinking

BabiesEverywhere · 06/07/2008 18:11

twilightsurfer, Please may I be added to the waiting room ?

08AUG Babieseverywhere is 34 and lives in Lancashire. She has a DD, 2y. Expecting DC#2, a SURPRISE.

SazzlesA Thanks for that I am aiming for 37 weeks plus myself, though my DD was 10 days late so I am expecting this one to be the same.

gigglegirl · 06/07/2008 18:48

i'm trying to balance how I feel, the best for the baby plus the fact that DS2 is 2 on 13th July, DD1 is 5 on 24th July and they are having joint party on 20th! Plus bathroom is being redone w/c 14th July for two weeks, carpet in hall stairs and landing being fitted on 28th and sometime in before that the whole thing needs lining, repainting and glossing and all the upstairs doors need replacing which I haven't even got quotes for! Am 38 weeks on 31st July so guess that would suit most things, just have to try and cope!

I'm in theory stopping work on 16th but we run our own business so theory is all it will be no doubt! Am sat working and watching the tennis now.

As for piles, you can add them to my list too!

RL friend has just come round with all my newborn clothes folded and ironed - she's such a star! Plus she has given me a few early baby things in case they do induce me earlier.

That reminds me on growth scan this week (34 weeks) they estimated weight as 5lbs - the sonographer said the baby would put on a pound a week which would therefore take me to 11lbs but my others have all been 7 something - does anyone know a) how accurate growth scans are and b) if a pound a week is right?

sorry that was meant to say - sazzles did you see me in town?

I am now talking to myself

BigBadMousey · 06/07/2008 19:11

MIAMLA - are you still interested in the Rikki wraps? I put them on the for sale board and someone else is interested but wanted to give you first refusal

TwilightSurfer · 06/07/2008 19:15

Dizzy so glad you've popped in. You have been dearly missed.{{hugs}}

Sazzles, John Wayne had a better swag than I. I'm thinking mine's more elephant like.

I've just completed my hospital pre-registration forms. To help show how my mind is....I marked single instead of married and I cannot for the life of me remember my dad's cell number for the emergency contact. All the minor pains are still present as is the pressure. I did nap but now anxious again. The only thing I'd have to do if I left this very moment is pack my laptop and grap a pillow. I'm hungry though so I'll postpone things a while longer.

Looking at your calculations Sazzles i'm in for a small one or so they say - she was approx. 2.5/3 lbs last week at 33 weeks so about 4/4.5 lbs at 34/5 weeks oooh a 6.5lb-er would be fab but more than likely will get a 9lb-er.

TS i'm so please i don't have to fill in any forms at the momenti struggle to remember socks nevermind anything else. Hospital bag now packed and baby bag packed - enough stuff for a 2 week holiday why do knicker bricks take up so much space??

Only 14 working days left (without weekends)YIPPEEEE

gigglegirl · 06/07/2008 19:57

LOL out the forms TS when I had DD1 my Mum came to visit me in hospital to meet her first grandchild and had a row with the midwife when she wouldn't let her in saying I wasn't there. Eventually Mum realised she was asing for the wrong person as I had got married a year before! Think she had the grace to blush!
