This is it!! Some of us have already started the descent into new BABYDOM. Best to arm ourselves with the facts. Here you will find the Signs of Labor. Just don't panic. Remember women around the world have been giving birth for ages. You are not alone nor will you be alone throughout this entire process. We are all here for each other no matter what. So let us go forward with heads high and bellies low.

PF - just being nosy but what is your DS like as 'himself' then? Also, I am staying away from friends' DPs given my stupid pg sex drive, I just go all blushy around men at the moment thinking filthy thoughts, wouldn't want my friends to notice and take the p*ss. Oh well, 1month more then it's No Sleep/sex Til Brooklyn I guess.

Chacha my scar is a little bit prickly from time to time but it's probably just caused by pants and maternity shorts not fitting properly and bunching about under the bump.

Libbyssister - ROFL re Oslo gig! Hide his passport.

pregnancy1 · 10/07/2008 08:26

Morning everyone,

I am beyond tired today - I had 6 hours of baby-related classes yesterday. The NHS ones got swapped around so I ended up with 4 hours on breast-feeding and then my NCT ones. I cannot tell you how grateful I was when I found out that NCT wouldn't cover breast-feeding last night...
When we arrived at NCT we discovered that the 2nd of our group had given birth already - there are only 7 or 8 of us. The first one was the last one due (due early sept so gave birth at 28 weeks) and this one was 35+4...... Maybe I'll pack my hospital bag this w/e

Babieseverywhere I was feeling v smug as I have literally everything ordered. Now I am just feeling v stressed and overwhelmed as not everything was in my JL order that arrived yesterday, but that was prob a good thing as the house is covered in boxes and I have no idea where everything should go. My friend v kindly gave us lots of feeding stuff, but it is sitting on the dining room table as it's all too overwhelming! I'm going to have to ask my mum to help
And that is before even thinking about the fact that I have all my nappies to wash 3 times, plus the sackfuls of clothes my friend v kindly donated! AND THEN I'VE STILL GOT 2.5 WEEKS AT WORK grrrrr
I'm just realising that being pregnant/having a baby may not fit neatly into my controlled and orderly life

PetitFilou1 · 10/07/2008 08:32

Pregnancy1 You do not have to wash your nappies three times - who on earth told you you had to do that?!

pregnancy1 · 10/07/2008 08:41

The woman who sold them and the packaging..... am I the most naive first timer in the world? Apparently they coat the nappies with something to make them slippery when they get made. This reduced the absorbancy so they need to be washed before use. To be fair, they don't need to be dried between washings so I am being a bit of a drama queeen....

PetitFilou1 · 10/07/2008 08:42

Pregnancy1 You do not have to wash your nappies three times - who on earth told you you had to do that?! Babies only need milk, somewhere to sleep, nappies, clothes and you to start with. Do not panic about JL order - even if you gave birth now I think you'd fine things would be ok

VG No not Russell Brand ewwwww. Friend's dh is posh totty - lovely voice and no stupid hairstyle! Cha cha Yes you did read that right!

Buckets What is dh like as 'himself'

Sibh Think the polyfilla in the mouth might be a bit extreme! But like your thinking... He was just overtired really but still....

Right, back later, dd wanting me to draw with her.

PetitFilou1 · 10/07/2008 08:45

Aaargh sorry trying to MN while dcs not occupied - not a good idea!

Pregnancy1 - washing them once I can see the point of but THREE times? Really I don't see a need for that - but maybe ask on the nappy bit of the talkboard as loads of very experienced reusuable users on there.

Buckets I meant did you mean what is dh like as 'himself'?

bigboydiditandranaway · 10/07/2008 08:57

Baby has turned so will be having a normal birth now and trying to keep positive about labour, any tips(ds born with just g&a)

really want to go for an epidural this time if i can.....any tips on when to ring the hospital? Mw said when contractions are 5 mins apart or if the pain is too much. Do you think that's enough time, ds's labour progressed really quickly and although i was offered other pain relief, i found at the time g&a was enough, then i found the pain worsening and asked for an epidural but the mw said it was too late really don't want to be too late again for it but i know you can't plan or hope too much for your ideal birth.

libbyssister · 10/07/2008 09:09

OK babieseverywhere, feel a bit better knowing that everyone's not packed and just sitting waiting for contractions to start . But pg1 has reminded me about the nappies in the loft and the fact that they're prob a bit musty now and could do with a wash through.... Oh my. I think I need to make a list!

Re: pg sex drive. I was supposed to be innocently sipping a mocha with DS in our garden centre cafe the other day but found myself perving over all of the vaguely attractive blokes around me. Beware men of S.Oxon!

Buckets: passport! Good idea

miamla · 10/07/2008 09:50

TS thanks for the contraction timer, i've just sent the link to DP (its where i send all my mental notes so i don't lose them!)

who had Mr Bump in her pants last night? the comment by your DH really made me and my DP laugh!

ALBS calling ALBS Did you get my email? are you free to join us for lunch tomorrow? Preg1 is hosting and it'll be lovely to see you again if you are free

it seems you've all started talking about rumpy pumpy without being given permission but I'm here this morning to grant that official permission for you! Having been banned by the consultant since about week 17 ish i figured that given that we're now 37+2 so a bit of rumpy isn't going to do too much harm

so, i really don't think this baby is staying put for much longer! my BHs last night were v regular and v strong DP left for work this morning telling me to let him know if I have a baby today!

right, i'm off to build some cupboards and wash the cradle. i hope your days are full of sun and smiles especially those going through difficult times at the moment

VintageGardenia · 10/07/2008 10:04

Mr Bump / anuzzer man in your pants?

Try this I bought it in Mothercare for after the birth, I was in some considerable discomfort last time & thought it might help. But if you're using Mr Bump now, might be worth investing. There's a washable gauze sleeve for it too.

CaptainCaveman · 10/07/2008 10:07

Oh you ladies do make me larrrfff, Mr Bump in her pants indeeed.

Welcome home libbysister it is nice to have you back again, and yes, we did miss you . Twas my ds who performed the flying trump, into my face no less. And I'm with you on the lack of organisation front - despite being hospitalised 4 weeks ago I still haven't got my bag packed beyond maternity bricks towels and some wash things

Dh is taking me out for a nice posh meal tonight for our anniversary - must remember to put the gaviscon in my handbag .

Scan/cons appt at 2pm and I am very excited although I have no idea why - it's not like he's going to deliver the baby today!!

What are you all up to today?

sarahnh · 10/07/2008 10:12

Happy anniversary CC.. and good luck with scan... very good that your DH is taking you out... i was suspose to go out for lunch with my dh yesterday for my birthday but the weather was really awful so he convinced me that we would be better off at home.. then he went to the pub last night ....... so not very happy bunny today.. its horrible celebrating your birthday when you are big and fat and frumpy!!!!

Sorry i am in a grouchy mood.. was getting loads of pains again last night and now she is still on my bladder... to top it all my dd woke last night when dh was in the pub and it took hours to settle here... moan moan moan...

oh ignore me!!!!! right who can give me some positive news???!!!

CaptainCaveman · 10/07/2008 10:14

Positive news - we will soon be posting on a POST-NATAL thread!

dizzydixies · 10/07/2008 10:23

Morning all, have been up since crack of dawn and it is POURING here today - remember when I told you I'd get all your rain today - I didn't want it ALL!!!

dd1 up at 6am but at least dd2 had good grace to sleep though last night and dh didn't waken me up coming in whenever he did.

CC Happy Anniversary! DH has set the alarm on his mobile but its downstairs in the kitchen so am not sure what farking use that will be - will mean me hearing it and taking it upstairs to waken him?!?!?!?! I NOW see the need for greater detail in the list of 'to dos!!'

chacha my scar seems to be ok, no pain or discomfort - then again I haven't seen it since dd2 was born

am pmsl @ everyones libidos - mine seems to be getting quite a whirl in my dreams at the moment

libbysister lovely to have you back we're all on facebook if you want to email me I'll hook you up

[email protected]

sarahnh · 10/07/2008 10:26

dizzydixies · 10/07/2008 10:27

CC positive it MAY be but am I the only one marginally panicked by it all lol

CaptainCaveman · 10/07/2008 10:28

Whilst I remember - if anyone else wants TEXT BUDDIES you can still email me [email protected] I will send all the mobile numbers to all who email then you can text whomever you like . I promise to do this NEXT TUESDAY

CaptainCaveman · 10/07/2008 10:30

ERM, not so sure dizzy - I definately felt a little wobble this morning.....for the first time in about a year I was straightening my hair (now it's long enough again) and I suddenly thought - "gaaah, I won't have time for this when ds2 arrives".

CaptainCaveman · 10/07/2008 10:31

So to cheer myself up I just bought this

dizzydixies · 10/07/2008 10:35

dizzydixies · 10/07/2008 10:36

natter for ENGLAND!!! cheek of you - this is a multi cultural thread you know

sazz my car is awful and am hoping with the addition of a handheld I might be shamed or encouraged to clean it - its only going to get worse with 3 of them in it AND we live back off the road too so getting the hoover down to the car is a right PITA so I don't tend to bother
