This is it!! Some of us have already started the descent into new BABYDOM. Best to arm ourselves with the facts. Here you will find the Signs of Labor. Just don't panic. Grin
CaptainCaveman · 09/07/2008 21:16

EEK, hope I didn't scare you off!!
I've done my therapy (4 years worth{grin]) and what happened is part of my past but I feel healed from that. My life is fab and I wouldn't swap it for the world. I'll stop talking now before you boot me off for being maudlin and making you feel awkward...

dizzydixies · 09/07/2008 21:18

CC I think after my recent posts you're on safe ground

TwilightSurfer · 09/07/2008 21:20

Captain we all have a past. The great thing about MN is we can completely show ourselves without fear. And from all I can see, you're doing pretty good kid!!

OP posts:
PetitFilou1 · 09/07/2008 21:21

CC surely dsis is at the stage where the LEA threaten to take her to court then if your niece isn't going to school? I'd want to adopt her - what a crap start in life. Good on you for being a survivor, hope your niece is the same, perhaps you can talk about it with her when you are older....

on a lighter note......

dizzy glad I made you smile

and can someone tell MY dh that it isn't a good plan to come home after three days when your heavily pregnant wife has been looking after your two dcs, doing the ironing, sorting out the diy, builders, garden, cleaning etc etc and the first thing you say is 'why have you bought polyfilla, we've got polyfilla, I'll have to take it back blah blah blah' It was £10 worth of stuff bought to fix the wall in the baby's room, we didn't have the right sort of polyfilla and since he was completely sodding uncontactable I asked my dad and got the stuff we needed in his absence. NOT impressed. Rant over.

CaptainCaveman · 09/07/2008 21:23

phew, I was about to get my coat....

Did I mention it is my 9th wedding anniversary tomorrow? Wow. Where has that time gone? Round about the time I was saying "I do" I shall be seeing the consultant for 'small baby clinic'. Picture the scene:
Cons: Mrs CC, do you agree to come in on XXth August for a CS?
Me: I DO!

perhaps I should wear my wedding dress? (I know, it will not fit as I wasn't 8 months pg when I got married!)

CaptainCaveman · 09/07/2008 21:25

Night night ladies, I'm off to have a glass of white wine followed by a capful of Gaviscon.....

dizzydixies · 09/07/2008 21:26

oh lordy - Mr Dixie and Mr Filou on dangerous ground this evening me thinks

PetitFilou1 · 09/07/2008 21:29

Yes dizzy, perhaps we should gang up. Two heavily pregnant angry wives should be a fairly formidable presence - don't you think?!

Off for an early night - hope dh is already asleep. Think he has sensed my displeasure though!

congrats for tomorrow CC

Petit - do you get the feeling if Mr Cavey has forgotten anny he'll be in the corner with our two as well?!?

have a good sleep everyone

VintageGardenia · 09/07/2008 21:30

dd you manage to be cheerful throughout very trying times, you have prob this all sorted via text etc acc to Sazz advice, if not do so! Your dh may have been unthinking today but there is no way he is not aware of what you are coping with. The way you talk about him normally makes it sound as if you have a very loving and equal relationship. These times are when all that comes into its own. (Too tired to type properly but you get my drift. Be open with him as S says, he will support you to the best of his ability.) Good to be going to aunt. I would think yes to bringing dds in to your mother. They may be a tonic for her for a short while, and hospices are generally pleasanter than hospitals - unless she is in very bad shape herself it won't be a disturbing experience for them.

CC glad your have possible solution for your DS during labour time. Agree not good idea have child around at the time and wd be shocked if yr hos allowed.

petitfilou was laughing at your leathertrousered sex god! Had visions of Russell Brand. Am I close?

I have heating on too.

cyteen sounds like this will be an opportunity for a bit of catharsis in your family, in some ways a new start, and nice that it will be marked by the arrival of the new generation too. Good that you and your father have a strong relationship, with your mother and brother sadly missing from your lives. You, your father, your dp and your new baby will be the hub of the cyteen family, and a loving and supportive one it sounds.

Oh and just for anyone not planning to wear one of DPs old t-shirts for the birth, why not consider one of these? Surely an excellent investment .

dizzydixies · 09/07/2008 21:34

ROFL @ Bye Bye Bare Bottoms - am sorry but at that stage I couldn't give a toss

am off now to text dh seeing as had held out - why do they never text first though?!?!

VG - love the skirts. Probably just wear a baggy T-shirt tbh. Love the Wish Bracelets "to encourage you and your baby" hehe

TwilightSurfer · 09/07/2008 22:40

VG, how odd..I just read a magazine ad for the same thing. All I can say is WTF. Folks will do anything to take a first-timers money.

Now off to find the thread Sazzle was looking at...

TwilightSurfer · 09/07/2008 23:10

Contraction Counter ... found it on the due July thread. Thought I'd post it here so I wouldn't loose it (like all my other mental notes lately).

PF - That is such a typical DH of mine comment but i so had to LOL. at new friend's DH - did i read that properly?!

Must remember to take home a tester first before buying and using actual paint. My terracotta warm bathroom looks a little em...like i couldn't get to the sink in time Will percevere and will grow on us am sure. DH and DS1 missed the last train, fortunately friend is going the 2hr journey to pick them up...am missing my little boy.

Good luck for tomorrow CC, can't wait for me appt.

p.s. anyone with c-sec scar finding it very sore and lumpy as baby drops?

AnnVan · 09/07/2008 23:21

ChaCHa, kind of wish baby would drop, as it is currently wedeged under my ribs, and I'm starting to feel a little bruised. Not sure that the bruised feeling is normal but hey ho
Lol at the bathroom paint job.

Sibh · 09/07/2008 23:21

''Personalize your skirt with blessing beads to encourage you and your baby during labor' Absolutely bats. Unless the baby thinks--aah, love the beads. I'll shrink to 10% of my current size until I'm out and being cuddled.

I went into Penneys in Cork on Saturday-the mothership of Primark-looking for a disposable nightdress type thingummy and could only find pink things with 'come and party', or pictures of cows on. Not quite the right signals I think, so one of DH's Tshirts it is ...

Petitfilou--could you not mix some of the polyfilla and pour it into DH's mouth when he's asleep?

TS--I found somewhere on google that said that tight cycling shorts can help with the swollen bits, but I think DH got enough of a fright with the flight socks. The gel pack thing is definitely helping but I'm hoping this eases off soon.

libbyssister · 10/07/2008 00:02

Hello everyone! [waves]

So when I started mat leave 6 WEEKS ago I thought I'd be on MN more but I haven't checked in for ages and I've just spent an hour + half catching up a bit....Lovely to read all your news.

All's well with me and the bub. LOTS of kicking and movement. BH during breakfast most days, don't know why. Really bad back pain every day but learning to grit my teeth.

I'm about 33 weeks and I have:

No bags packed
No name for child
No pram
No moses basket
No meals in freezer
No nothing...

The panic set in yesterday a bit... DS is in nursery on Thurs so perhaps tomorrow I'll try and get at least a couple of things sorted. DS and I spent this morning picking raspberries and strawbs in pouring rain, completely oblivious. But then the whole point of taking early mat leave was to spend time with him. Just feel like I'm sticking my head in the sand a bit...

Sazzles - I saw Free Birthing prog too. DH left the room after 20 secs and that first labour moan . I was amazed at the woman with the long orange hair and how calmly she gave birth...

Dizzy - my lack of prep pales into significance when I read about what you're dealing with at the moment. My god you've got a lot on your plate.

Facebook - did anyone set up a group?

DH rubbishness - mine said tonight "So I'm thinking of going to see a band play on the 8 August. In Oslo." WTF???

Still smiling at the 'flying trump' story. Can't remember whose it was now. My DS is v proud to have learnt "stand up wees" 'cept the other day he let his mind wander, turned round and pee-ed in my lap...

AnnVan · 10/07/2008 00:31

Hi LS - I'm nearly 33 weeks and also don't have moses basket, cot, packed bag etc. The only thing I have so far is nappies

alittlebitshy · 10/07/2008 04:18

just caught up with evening chatter...
dh and i went OUT last night. Dinner (frankie and benny's ) and cinema (sex and the city). Good eve but ribs hurt throughout and now after some tossing and turning sleep I can't get back off. heartburn too. just had glass of milk then will try to get back to sleep..... zzzzzz

BabiesEverywhere · 10/07/2008 07:18

I feel better that other August ladies are not organised either, I have yet to sort out:-

: Baby clothes out of attic and washed
: Clear space for cot in our room
: Put up cot
: Pack labour bag for attempted home birth
: Get midwife assigned to us for our home birth

Which is all I intended to do anyway for my NSC

Baby Bea has dropped a lot recently and I am far from comfortable now.

BabiesEverywhere · 10/07/2008 07:18

Oh and I'm over 36 weeks pregnant !!!
