jm54 i went for an early reassurance scan at the babyscan studio in perth, cost £65
i know there are prob places a bit closer to you than that but it his worth looking at his website as the man who runs this place says he gets folk like yourself from glasgow and edinburgh who only get offered one scan.

i felt so at ease with them there i have booked to go back in august for a 3D scan!(this is what he now specialises in but offers reassurance scans at any stage)

goodluck whatever you decide

thanks for matB advice. i will def get onto it, and see what the voucher is valid for. then i will be asking advice on the best nappies. i know we've been through it before, but there is probably a limited list of suppliers,so may help if it's already narrowed down a bit.

ChocOrange05 · 11/07/2008 13:10

jm54 if its a money question for the scan lots of the ladies on here have been buying eBay bargains and have some good money saving ideas and links to good websites so you could probably save money on baby stuff and get a scan with the savings!

ChocOrange05 · 11/07/2008 13:11

Merry what do you mean by nappy voucher?? Can you let me know as I haven't heard of this....?

coolkat · 11/07/2008 13:18

Wow how busy has this thread been.
I have read through but apologise for any one I miss.

Welcome to two newbies!!
Obl, if you can't post here your concerns etc then where can you, gosh my posts are always dull and feel guilty but sometimes it helps sharing with others.

DH started decorating our nursery on weds but yest we had a horrible day, well he did, he works in the emergeny services and they had a horrific incident to deal with and to be honest I was quite worried about him he seems to be coping well though. We are doing ours in a creamy colour to, even though know flavour do not want anyone else knowing, also saved nursery curtains and accessories so it matches that.

Finished work yest for the summer holidays and it feels great. Me and DH out tonight and tomorrow, typical that we never go out and get invited out on the same weekend!!

Lolabella I have a Chicco chair that reclines etc and thought it was good as quite padded, I have seen some lovely ones with various features though. We also have one of the graco baby swings and found that quite handy, not everyone cup of tea but had for DD.

Sory no advice on birthing pools, hospital birth for me.

Drswife, hope your feeling better and had a good holiday.

Pelvis was good yest and today it is back with a vengence, roll on tues when start Physio, hope it helps

Oblomov · 11/07/2008 13:21

I agree with Hana. Astonished at only one scan and would have thought they would do a 20 wk, if any.
I do appreciate how lucky I am to have many scans.
I have had 5 scans already and will probably be scanned every 2 weeks from now on. I can't remmeber how many I had with ds, but it was more than 15.

Thanks Hana Obs - I know you have a very good reason for having lots of scans but I am also jealous of you getting to see your LO so often!!

ChocOrange05 · 11/07/2008 13:51

Dozy did you have a chance to look at the Facebook Surrey group meetup??

Oblomov · 11/07/2008 13:53

I have just bought my medela mini electric pump and some punp microwaveable sterilising bags, from E-bay.
I am still bidding on slings.
Starting to get excited now.

ChocOrange05 · 11/07/2008 13:59

Obs now I have my pram I am trying to decide what to get next!

There is an NCT Nearly New sale in Epsom tomorrow so I will go to that!

sparkletoes · 11/07/2008 14:28

Hi all, I am finally able to connect to broadband again so have had a quick scan at the thread to see how u all are - chatty as usual it seems

Welcome all newcomers!

jm54 I also was only officially entitled to one scan with my DS however I spoke nicely to the sonographer and she said she would do a 20 week one for me. Have also heard of women getting the 2nd scan by saying they absolutely have to have it and it is affecting their wellbeing by not having one. Completely unethicial but personally don't think that the healthboard is being completely so by not offering it!

You could always try speaking to a sonographer and if you get a sympathetic one you never know.. If that doesn't work I'd have no hesitation in laying it on thick with my GP...

Really hope that works so you don't have to pay but worth a try I think...

Ceebee, congrats on your car! Await your scan update...

Whoever it was that recommended the Moby/Moby D sling has sparked my interest! Await Hana's lowdown on the show tho... That one certainly LOOKED less complicated than the Kids in Comfort but obviously I have only seen pictures..

I still haven't bought anything for baby, still having too much fun looking...

Hi everyone else not mentioned, I will try to catch up on all ur news soon Obs, PinkyMinky, Pinkali, DocW, ChocO, Twinkling.... and everyone else my failing memory hasn't mentioned!

Oblomov · 11/07/2008 14:56

Choc, I am well jealous.
I will put a limit on you - no more than 3 things

ChocOrange05 · 11/07/2008 15:04

Obs no chance of you joining??

babylove123 · 11/07/2008 15:06

Hi everyone!

Thanks for all of your welcomes - indeed it is hard trying to keep up!!!!! lol.

Just a mention on Matb1's - i was told 20 weeks and you can have it. We had to see midwife yest to discuss birthing options so i asked for it and she gave it to me. They dont seem too worried about dishing them out!

Yeh we've had our 20 week scan thank you and can tell you that i have a blimming awkward baby! He/she was litterally stood up inside me, head under my bellybutton, feet in bottom of pelvis looking out to the world. They tried everything to get it to move but nope, they were obv comfy. I certainly wasnt, dont appreciate him/her standing on my bladder and kicking it! He/she was going so nuts last night that even DP felt kicks for the first time. Dont know what had got into him/her!!!! We have to go back for another on 21st because they couldnt check the heart properly because they werent laid on their side...........at least i get to see them again and hopefully find out the sex this time! I hope they have their legs open now!!!!!

Jm54 - just a mention, have you thought about having a 4D scan? Can be done 28 - 32 weeks. Anyone else on here thinking of it/have had one? DP and i are because its our first...............lemme know.

Best be off - at work, oops!

Take care

PInkyminkyohnooo · 11/07/2008 15:23

hello babylove!

hope all are well.

Sorry didn't get the dics done, got side tracked sorting my shopping carts out! I promise to have a go at it tonight.

regarding painting- I think you can get water-based paint very easily now. I did loads of decorating when pgthe first time, we used water-based paints.I was desperate to do something at the time because I couldn't make my sculptures because of the fumes.

has anyone had a scan today??

ceebee74 · 11/07/2008 16:01

Hi ladies

Will catch up with you all later but just wanted to share my news - twas good news and bad news!

Start with the bad news - I have to go back for another scan next Wednesday as there is an issue with the baby's bowel - the staff didn't seem overly concerned about it but I will know more on Wednesday - trying not to get too worried about it!

The good news is that everything else was fine, it was very wriggly and it is a.................BOY!! Us Nov 08 lot are certainly beating the odds for boys vs girls aren't we? Am v pleased as both me and Dh wanted a boy plus will be so much cheaper having another boy - and he was certainly not shy in showing us

As I said will catch up later as I am meant to be doing some work!

x

Oblomov · 11/07/2008 16:05

Oh Ceebee, congratulations on a BOY.
And sorry to hear about the bowel thing. Hope that the scan next week will show that it is a minor thing and not a major thing.
Will be thinking of you.

SoExcited · 11/07/2008 16:06

Haven't managed to read everything - have been away about 12 days, and there are so many messages?! I've finished the old thread, and will work my way through this one.

Does anyone have any of the details about 20 week scan percentiles? I know mine measured big, but i'd like to get more idea of where on the scale, as the graph in my notes is too small to get a proper idea.

Off to collect my new second-hand car in a minute Very exciting - Ford Focus CMAX. Any opther first-timers suddenly feel like they're turning into a proper grown up (i'm 30 so surely should have hit this before now?!)

sparkletoes · 11/07/2008 16:10

Babylove, I would love a 4D scan but just too expensive for us... Plus it would give me another chance to consider finding out the flavour and after deciding not to, just don't want to have that chance again!

OP posts:
sparkletoes · 11/07/2008 16:16

Congratulations Ceebee on your second blue one! Know what you mean about it being more economic! Hope all works out ok next week.

SoExcited, I wouldn't place too much emphasis on the scan percentiles - if I remember correctly these are notoriously unreliable anyway.
