Ok I am guessing this thread will last about 2 weeks!!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
toolly · 11/07/2008 16:52

No Oblomov, I have to say I'm flagging. Only an hour till bath time!

Oblomov · 11/07/2008 16:54

Toolly, I missed you at Kings.
And I missed your post about what happened at your scan on 1st.
Endulge me and remind me, please.

ChocOrange05 · 11/07/2008 16:56

Thanks Toolly although I didn't expect such a picture straight away!!

Oblomov · 11/07/2008 16:58

I have forgotten where MerryM is giving birth.
At one point I thought we(Oblomov, Toolly and MerryM) were the 'Kings triplets' (actually quads with MerryM having twins ), but I think she is due to give birth somewhere else.

ChocOrange05 · 11/07/2008 17:03

Toolly I sent you an e-mail but let me know if you don't get it.

toolly · 11/07/2008 17:06

On my first scan the nuchal thickness was just over the average so Kings arranged a detailed heart scan and the usual anomoly. I declined an amnio because all the other factors they use were in the normal range.
Heart and anomoly were fine. I got seen exactly at 11 o'clock which was my appointment time and they pushed forward my anomoly so I didn't have to wait. I was thinking about you when I went past the main waiting room but didn't have a clue about what you looked like. We should have arranged to be wearing blue carnations or something. I have no further follow up so I won't be needing to go to Kings unlike you. Your journey sounds awful by public transport. If it's easy for you to get to Beckenham it wouldn't be a problem for me to give you a lift if you need it to get to Kings. My sister lives near there so I go there once a week anyway to study.

misdee · 11/07/2008 17:08

my shopping list now just has on it

drawers for storage/putting changign mat on

a shelf for above the chest of drawers

and a sling.

my sister is on a vest hunt round at her places as her little boy has outgrown his now

toolly · 11/07/2008 17:11

Sorry Chocorange, I should have warned you. I forget you are a first timer I have a vicious spam filter that deletes everything remotely sus on sight, just changed the settings to 'not so rigourous' so you might have to send again.
I promise I'll get back to you as soon as I get it.

ChocOrange05 · 11/07/2008 17:27

Oh, forgot to add that last night went round to a friends' house and saw her 2 month old baby girl. She was sooo tiny and I couldn't quite comprehend that this big fat tummy will result in one of those beautiful little things. I am looking at babies in a whole new (and scary!) light now!

Also funny story - my friends' 2 year old has recently started sleeping in a cot bed and every night she gets out of the bed, puts on her shoes and then goes back to sleep on the floor. We looked in on her asleep and she was lying on the floor bum in the air with black leather shoes and a babygrow on - was very cute!!

bubbaz · 11/07/2008 17:33

Congrats on your boy ceebee, Hope you get good news next week re the bowel!
I've been clearing the spare room now and can almost get throught the door without injuring myself DH is being sent into the loft for all of the bags of old stuff tomorrow then the fun will really start - I've forgotten how tiny newborn stuff is!

toolly · 11/07/2008 17:55

Chocorange, I have sent you an email. Hope you find it useful

Dozymare · 11/07/2008 17:58

Afternoon All!!

Cbee Congratsd on your boy!!!! As a mother of 2 with a 2 year 3m age gap, I can tell you it is amazing, funny, hard bloody work and my god, the fighting drives me nuts!! However, they really are the best of friends and love each other so much.....I just thinmk of my DH and his bro and they are so close...i think we are really lucky!!!

You need to read (if you haven't already) Raising boys by Stephen Biddulph - haven't read it since had DS2 but explains all of those tesosterone surges which is alien to me coming from a family of girls!!!!

Newbies welcome, welcome, this thread has been an amazing support, laugh, place to vent...It is my first ever time posting and I love it!!! Everyone is so lovely!

Chocorange if I wasn';t cooking for 8 tomorrow I would be coming and meeting you! Can;'t make the FB meetup as hopefully that is when we are away......

BUBBAZ I need to get Dh into loft as well as really really need to sort out all the baby boy clothes that I won't be needing anymore! Have alrady started spending and trying to hide it all from DH who thinks I am a shopoholic as it is!!

Obs let me know about my helping you out..r.eally not a problem at all..

I am sorry if I missed anything, have skimmed read and my brain isn't waht it used to be!

Love to all

Dozymare · 11/07/2008 17:59

most importantly.....THANK YOU YORKY FOR CD!!! Look forward to chilling out to that at some stage this weekend.....will let oyu know how I get on!

xx

vbab78 · 11/07/2008 19:13

chocorange - congrats on the bargain and amazing DH.

coolkat - Hope your DH is ok.

ceebee - congrats on your boy.

soexcited - i've had a CMAX for a year now and love it to bits. Cant imagine having anything else. Found the fact you can remove the middle seat at the back or fold it back and create bigger side seats a god send. Stops DS kicking the passenger seat.

Yorky · 11/07/2008 19:41

Dozymare and other hypno relaxing people, DH has now uploaded the inserts from the CDs to the sky dive so we'll email you a link soon. Glad the CD arrived safely
I have a had a rough day today, nothing major just feel really down which I haven't done for ages. Going for medicinal bubble bath and early night. Feel guilty for being down, every time there is an internal wriggle I think how can I be so down when something so exciting is happening.

ceebee74 · 11/07/2008 20:09

Evening all.

Thanks for all your congratulations! Dozy - thanks for your comments about raising 2 boys (and mine will have almost the same age gap as yours) - will try and get that book at some point

Jm54 - my bro lives in Edinburgh and him and his gf were only offered a 12-week scan, so similar to the people Sparkle said, they told the MW there was a history of cleft palate in the family (there wasn't!) and got a 20-week scan. I can't believe that they don't offer it as that is more important than the dating scan!

Coolkat - hope your DH is ok. I work for an emergency service too (although not on the front line) and I know how traumatic it can be at times.

Hi to everyone else.

vbab78 · 11/07/2008 21:40

Anyone know of any nappy laundry type services that operate in South Yorkshire? The type where they fetch nappies, take away dirty ones and clean them and fetch more clean ones.

Rotherham, near Sheffield way to be exact.

MerryMarigold · 11/07/2008 22:04

obs - I am at whipps cross. was thinking of transferring to Homerton, but consultant at whipps is really nice (and seems competent!), so sticking with them at moment, unless they much up any more.

ceebee - congrats on your son. my ds is definitely a boys boy, so I am glad he is having a brother too. i have heard the raising boys book is excellent too. i have one of his other books and it is quite good. i hope all is well with the bowel next week. I think it's quite reassuring in some ways when they spot issues, i am always a bit suspicious of 'everything's fine' (i;m so negative!) especially when the scan is very quick.

Dozymare · 12/07/2008 07:47

Morning All - I got the short straw today and up before 630!!! Luckily though I wasn't feeling to tired and in fact, feel fantastic today! What a contrast to a week ago when I was feeling very hacked off/low....don't underestimate the hormones!!!

Yorky are you ok??? I can't believe how hormones can affect us during pregnancy, it has taken me 3 pregnancies to realise this and to take it for what he is...DH has learnt by now that my up/down moods are all hormonal and nothing to do with the real Dozymare...he just agrees with everything I say for a quiet life! With DS1 I was an absolute b**ch.......really nasty sometimes and although I knew I was being out of order, I couldn't help myself! With DC2 I was still up and down but slightly accepted that it was hormonal...This pg has been so much better, I think because I know/we know what to expect and I actually was in a foul mood last week andf really snappy...boys driving me mad etc but sat with DH one night and we were actually laughing at my irrational behaviour...as soon as I realised what it was, I snapped out of it!

I also have a theory (which I am sure will be proved wrong by someone on here ) that when I was carrying boys my mood swings were worse/more aggressive and as this PG is a girl I definately seem much calmer (although still irrational at times!) and in control as obviously not a tesoserone overload that you get with boys!!! Anyone experience this??!!!

I have just ordered DS2 birthday pressies online..can't believe my baby is going to be 2 next week!!!

have a lovely weekend all!

DM xxxx

ceebee74 · 12/07/2008 12:33

Merry - thanks for your reassuring words. Me and DH have decided not to worry about the baby yet - no point in worrying about something that you don't know what it is iyswim. Plus, it is DS's 2nd birthday on Monday so it is his party tomorrow and then we are taking him to Thomasland on Monday so we are putting it out of our minds until after that so we don't spoil anything for DS.

Dozy - I can't believe my DS is 2 either - am so at how fast time has gone since he was born - I honestly struggle to remember what life was like before him (although I do just about remember the weekend lie-ins ).

Off to take DS to another birthday party this afternoon - this weekend is going to be so hectic, I think I will need to spend all Tuesday in bed!!

Ceebee admire ur attitude towards not worrying about things you don't know about yet. I always try to maintain such an attitude but totally accept how difficult it can be (depending on the circumstances). It does make a whole load of sense tho and can save you needless stress. Will be thinking of you.

Found Dozy's words very comforting too about having two boys and if I do have another boy I will have the 2 yr 3 mnth gap too! Also if ur theory is right it will def be another blue one for me!

I went to Babies r' us yesterday to have a look at the Bruin duo stroller as it looked quite compact for a tandem but I wondered about how heavy it was. However they didn't have any only the Cosatto one which is much the same. Anyway I found it really heavy to steer even on the polished showroom floor! (incidentally so did DH) The sales assist wasn't much help either she just said I must be a weakling! Maybe I am, but thought of pushing 2 stone buggy + 2 stone toddler + baby up all the hills where we live fills me with absolute dread! Back to regular buggy & sling option...

Hope everyone having good weekend, don't worry about feeling low Yorky I just accept that it is all down to hormones and that stops me feeling so guilty about it then try to distract myself with something that is fun (still window shopping for baby!). TC xx

Ceebee - congrats on a boy! Good luck for next wednesday.......hope all is well.

Sparkletoes - you have more willpower than i do!!!!!

We're going to Babies R Us next weekend to buy our pram - v excited!

PInkyminkyohnooo · 12/07/2008 18:51

ceebee congratulations on your baby news, two boys- that's what I always imagined having! Boys will always love their mums! e right not to worry too much about the other thing,no point worrying now when it will most likely turn out to be ok.

speaking of bouncy seats, we managed to get a cheapo one for christmas from display at John Lewis today- real bargain. But our main bouncy seat is the same as this one it is really good- still in great condition despite being used for three babies, I really recommend it.

I have beeen on a sock buying mission to the baby gap sale today, and may have bought a couple of bits of baby clothing

I have cd'd burned and book packaged, but will have to post on monday now, hope that's ok.

PInkyminkyohnooo · 12/07/2008 18:52

Christmas?? I meant kitchen!!

LackaDAISYcal · 12/07/2008 19:04

We've got this chair from chicco. It's great cos it can lie completely flat so baby can snooze it during the day, it's really padded and supportive and has carry handles for toting around. Ours is the older version and has been through five children and is about to be used again for No 6 (not all mine obviously ), but it must be the most well travelled chair in the UK I think.

haven't caught up yet...off to do so now
