Ok I am guessing this thread will last about 2 weeks!!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
misdee · 07/07/2008 14:36

i have blacouts in the girls bedrooms, and very heavey curtains in our room. i have always used them, it helps them sleep to a reasonable time and not be up with the larks.

but then on holidays, we exhaust them with loads of activties so they always sleep a bit later.

ChocOrange05 · 07/07/2008 14:36

Yorky do you like surprises?? I love them, thats why I'm not finding out. I am having to buy a lot of white and cream stuff though!

Misdee another girl to help balance up the tally - hope you are pleased?!?

OK - I now know what GF stands for but I am still at a loss as to what it is. Should I know?! Am I already a bad mother for not knowing such things?!?

choc - you are not a bad mother at all. a close friend of mine was well into her stuff, so that's how I knew about it and then made up my own mind from there. You will know if you like her style or not, just 'different strokes for different folks'. But I'm not saying any more hana [zipped mouth emoticon] - you are right. In fact, no thread is the place for a discussion on this, it's always pointless and polarising.

Not knowing last time caused me no problems, I certainly wasn't going to pay for an extra scan to find out. I think DH is less bothered about finding out than I am. With DH I had no mothers instinct suspicion, whereas this time I will be really surprised if DS has a brother, part of me wants proving right!
I have lined DSs curtains but not blackout, he has no problem falling asleep for his midday nap.
GF is controversial as her recommended routine is very strict so people either love her or hate her and she got upset about some discussions on here so we don't so it cos we're good
ChocO - have you managed to get the things on download, cricri said it worked for her, CDs in post tomorrow girls.
Hanaflower, do they provide babies to try in the slings, I don't want one for DS, so much as one to cuddle bump for me so I have my hands free. See you there?

Yorky · 07/07/2008 14:57

It would make more sense if I'd put with DS I had no suspicion!

ChocOrange05 · 07/07/2008 14:57

Merry / Hana / Dozy I am intrigued as to what this Gina lady does that could potentially create a warzone in our friendly chat forum!! I shall have to investigate so I can be armed in case I ever need to know!

Hana there is a show just for slings!??! Surely there can't be enough slings in the world to warrant a whole show?!?

Misdee just saw your profile and noticed that will be 4 girls for you!!! Hope you like girlies!!

ChocOrange05 · 07/07/2008 15:08

Ha ha - direct quote from Wikipedia:

"Ford has threatened legal action against online child and parenting forum mumsnet.com, claiming that users have made "defamatory" comments about her, and has demanded that the whole site be taken down"

I will say no more for fear of instigating a debate which could can MN!

Dozymare · 07/07/2008 15:17

If you read it and want to know more - FB or email me as I am a real convert! Although we have already discussed this on this thread about 2 months ago if you want to look back (!) totally changed my life for the better after 3 months of having a very very unsettled baby and very stressed parents - the minute we switched to a routine everyone was so much happier. However, I only follow feeding and sleeping patterns, all this nonsense of 8:10am have your breakfast 8:15am have a wee is far far to extreme!!!!!!!!!! (read the book and you will see what I mean!)

As for being a bad mother - far from it!! Youhave so much more knowledge from being on this thread than i ever did as a first time mum!

yorky thanks for the CD, look forwaqrd to recieveing it...

BOOK CLUB we haven't heard from Creena for over a month so if anyone wants to repalce her on the bokclub thread, the first to reply is in!!!!!

dm X

ChocOrange05 · 07/07/2008 15:23

Yorky I can see the files there but I can't check till I get home as I am at work. I'm off to Germany tomorrow for work so I will let you know on Thursday when I'll be back online

bubbaz · 07/07/2008 15:25

Congrats Misdee on your girl. I still have no real feeling but I was so wrong last time its maybe not a bad thing all I know that if this is awakes as much when it is born as it is now i'm leaving home, it never stops and is getting really strong now!
Chocorange we had blackouts for DS at our old house and have very thick curtains for him now - Unfortunately he gets up at 6 regardless of anything! but we will def have them before this one goes into its own room.

Pinkali37 · 07/07/2008 15:27

Choc - going for the black adn grey pram etc... (as don't know flavour) but getting the citrus (lime colour car seat), how about you? What did you think to the price???

PInkyminkyohnooo · 07/07/2008 15:33

hello all. WEll I finally have my broadband up. THat is the longest I have been without the internet since about 1998! OMG I was bereft!

Fab news- Autumnlady on your litle boy, and misdee for your girl!

Very sad about federer.

Bubbaz- yes I'll do you a copy of the cd.

baby shoes- I like the starchild shoes too. ARE THEY THE ONES MADE IN WALES! oops sorry for caps.

Very about Federer.

Should I have another go at the bookclub now I'm not spending 2/3rds of my time with my head down the loo? Or am I banned?

Medela pump- I likes it but I had got so used to the hand one that I preferred it. If you really want to feel like a milking machine- try one of the big rentals OMG it's like being hooked up to a steam engine!lol

hope everyone is enjoying the weather

PInkyminkyohnooo · 07/07/2008 15:36

another vote for balckout linings here, too. great for naps and for summer.

Pinkali37 · 07/07/2008 15:40

P.S if anyone has ever read my profile they will know I am a V slow reader. Well I have news for all you book fanatics... I FINISHED THE BOOK THAT HAS TAKEN ME OVER 1 YEAR!!! PLUS...I started and finished... The Belle DeJour book AND Gordon Ramseys Humble Pie. This may not seem like an achievement to some BUT when a book has taken over a Bl**dy year to read I feel like celebrating

ChocOrange05 · 07/07/2008 15:41

Pinkali I think we will do the same, get a black pram and then a funky coloured car seat. I like the other colours in the Quinny but I didn't want to change my mind in 6 months!

Your price looks pretty good for brand new all in, although DH has been finding second hand buzz + carrycots on gumtree for £2-300. Depends if you would consider second hand. I would but only if it was less than 12 months old and in perfect condition.

"I am thinking of getting one of these" instead if the Quinny footmuff, I think they are very cute.

Yorky · 07/07/2008 15:44

I have single handedly jinxed the weather thought it had improved for the day, well it had until I put a washload out. Now, unsurprisingly, its coming down in stairods

PInkyminkyohnooo · 07/07/2008 15:50

oh Yorky I did that the other day. Lovey and sunny, put the washing out, went to put D to bed aand the rain just drenched my just dry washing. This summer weather is pants. We're getting one of those kitchen maid clothes driers for the attic landing- I think it's the only way to avoid running up the bills with the tumble drier!

Yorky · 07/07/2008 15:52

Thats cute ChocO, I still love this, why can't they do the babysnuggle in the unisex bright stripes? I just love the idea of two of these in my dark grey side by side three wheeler double, how jazzy! And I prefer the babysnuggle to the dinkysnuggle because of the hood for a winter baby

Yorky · 07/07/2008 15:54

Slightly less smug, the link works but not directly to the picture I wanted, right shop though.
First link ever on MN!

PInkyminkyohnooo · 07/07/2008 15:58

I've got a baysnuggle they are very good.

ChocOrange05 · 07/07/2008 16:00

What am I looking for on that site Yorky??
