purple yikes, I think I would definitely say no to that!
Some immediately after photos would be ok, but video, no thanks!!
Haha, I just remembered that when I told my work mate I was pregnant he said "Great, can I come film the birth?" and then "We'll all come and watch"

Beans33 · 25/07/2008 16:14

Oh dear. Having giggles at work now about the pooing stories. Very inappropriate!

Beans33 · 25/07/2008 16:17

OMG! Definitely don't want to be filmed - so sweaty and gross. I am embarrassed to admit that I asked our MW if I should give birth while wearing my contact lenses, or should I put my glasses on! God, what was I thinking?

(in case you're wondering, she said glasses)

although will whip them off for post-birth piccies. And apply a spot of anti-shine make up and some mascara.

LadyThompson · 25/07/2008 16:19

Tangent from pooing topic - Turnip, in case you didn't see it on other thread it's DP who is a barrister, not me! I was just being loyal

Hatty, if you are genuinely worried I suppose you could always ASK for an emema beforehand (dubious emoticon)

If you give birth in a pool you have to take a sieve. Again, I read this on MN, no personal experience...

Veggiemummy · 25/07/2008 16:24

i did a tiny poo and it landed on DS's head as he was head out at that stage. midwife told me it is good for them but not sure i will tell him i poo'ed on him when he is older.

EffiePerine · 25/07/2008 16:28

NO FILMING

Top tip: get your hair cut the day before you have the baby, you will look surprisingly glam in the photos. I was having minor contractions on teh day but thought 'sod it I need a haircut' and am so glad I did

may be difficult to manage this time

Verso · 25/07/2008 16:29

Just back from scan and all is just as it should be Feel strangely anti-climatic though. I thought I was going to be hugely relieved but I just feel kind-of normal...!

EffiePerine · 25/07/2008 16:30

Great news though Verso . Did you decide to find out the sex?

LadyThompson · 25/07/2008 16:31

I shall be using Loreal Volume Shocking mascara, but the waterproof version. Makes your eyelashes a foot long and only an atomic bomb will get it off.

LadyThompson · 25/07/2008 16:32

Brilliant, Verso! It'll take a while to sink in. You'll be all jolly tonight!

Veggiemummy · 25/07/2008 16:32

speaking of seives my midwife seived out some horrible looking gloop and said 'ooh look it's a bit of membrane that is good it means everthing is progressing'. Poor thing i gave her a filthy look that said 'the only proof i want that this is progressing is a baby'. she gave me a nrevous little smile and left the room for a bit i think she was almost as tired as me by that stage.

Beans33 · 25/07/2008 16:32

Verso - hurray! Congratulations! think you probably feel a bit anti-climatic because last chance to see the bambino for some time... did you find out what it was?

Veggie - hahaha! At least it was only a tiny poo! but bloody funny - you must tell him - preferably in front of his new girlfriend when he's about 17! He hee!

Purple79 · 25/07/2008 16:33

When my DP had his 1st Child (Alice) with his ex he wasn't even allowed in the room, and was very dissapointed he didn't get to experience everything... so this time around he obviously wants to go the whole hog! I on the other hand am not that thrilled at the suggestion of being filmed in that state... haha obviously!

beans sorry didn't mean to ignore you on the yoga class front but Battersea is a bit far for me - but thanks anyway. x

Verso · 25/07/2008 16:37

Effie we decided to have a surprise again this time... it was so nice last time having the whole "it's a girl!" bit.

Am looking forward to tonight though am coming from home of course not work (doh!) because I've just been for my scan. I'm such a lemon (exacerbated by pg hormones, natch). Will hope to meet ppl at 6 as we said though

Purple79 · 25/07/2008 16:39

VERSO Hi, Congrats on your scan - glad it went well - really looking forward to mine in a couple of weeks.

Anyone thought about having one of those 4D scans?

Beans33 · 25/07/2008 16:43

I haven't - think they're quite expensive.

I think you're meant to pay for the little standard pics at hospitals, we were given 5 of them, but we escaped without paying last time. Evil thieves...

waitinggirl · 25/07/2008 16:44

Beans - i am so glad you mentioned the contacts/glasses dilemma - i was wondering the same thing. also, i've got really expensive glasses, and don't want them trashed, or, let's face it, pooed on (based on the current trend of this thread - who knows where bodily fluids end up in a birthing room)

it seem strange to give birth wearing glasses - suppose i'll have to take them off and do it blind. like a mole

Veggiemummy · 25/07/2008 16:44

DH didn't want to be at the business end of things so i had no worries about photos or filming but one of midwives got a bit trigger happy at the end and took loads of photos which was ready for after photos. i'm glad she did as was interesting to see (and a little distressing when i saw what happened to my bottom). however we have our computer linked up to our 42 inch TV and when it is on screen saver it randomly shows the photos shows photos from our library. DH put any birth photos in an encripted file, but of course one slipped through....when we had some friends over....nice. One of my male friends couldn't speak for several minutes after.

SummerLightning · 25/07/2008 16:46

verso congratulations, i am sure you will be over the moon when it sinks in!
veggiemummy - am crying with laughter!

Beans33 · 25/07/2008 16:47

WaitingGirl - how blind are you? I'm minus 8 or something - really bad. I will be mole-like as well. Although might wear my very old glasses, which make me look a little like I'm wearing swimming goggles - before I discovered that you could thin the glass to make them more acceptable and less googly!

Veggie - hahahah! That is awful! Poor you, but GOD how funny. I am also PMSL (is that pissing myself laughing?)

Veggiemummy · 25/07/2008 16:47

when i mean at the end i mean as he was coming out.

LadyThompson · 25/07/2008 16:48

I think those 4d scan are about £125? Contemplated it, but given that all my daughter is showing to the world for sure is her bum, I definitely won't bother now. Not waiting another hour and a half whilst being kneaded like a lump of dough for a two second blurry glimpse of face...
