I thought I would be brave

I am so happy it went well for you hopefully. The hospital sounds lovely and I am sure you will have a positive memorable experience there . It certainly makes it more real now.
I actually enjoyed being on a post natal ward with other new mums. It was great to chat to each other and we really helped each other out. (I imaginine it being similar to a post war experience if you see what I mean) . We would watch each others babies while one of us needed a shower or we would fetch food for each other as needed. Basically we all mucked in together- the way it should be imo. I would really hate to be in a room on my own.

Ooh I'm envious of you, Hopefully. I went on a tour of my labour and postnatal wards yesterday evening, and came away thinking what a horrible place it is. They freely admit they don't have enough beds there, and would low-risk mums /please/ go to the birthing units instead (15 miles away in my case, where the hospital is less than a mile)
The midwife doing the tour was monosyllabic, and generally sounded pretty disinterested, though she took pains to point out the "quiet rooms, for when things go wrong and you need somewhere to grieve" FFS! (sorry, getting irate there for a minute)

I'm now trying to talk my husband into us having a home birth!

God, how awful helen! Don't blame you for wanting a homebirth after that. I am definitely not taking for granted how lucky I am to have such a good hospital nearby. Makes me so mad that the current plan is to close it in the near future and move the maternity unit to worthing hospital, where there will be a massive demand on services and staff.

I agree Helen, homebirth sounds like a good plan if you're so close to the hospital. I didn't have agreat labour last time and I'm really looking forward to my homebirth this time (am I mad?)

It's the not having to decide when to go into hospital (and not having DH sent away), making decisions about dd1 when we need to. Having a big double bed to cuddle the baby in afterwards, being able to move around and go to the toilet without having to pass a load of strangers, and more ....

Good luck in whatever your decision is though!

This afternoon when I was toiling up the hill with a buggy loaded with shopping a man stopped his car, and waited for me to tell me I was gorgeous!!!
Clearly blind / deranged etc, but it was v nice to have a compliment like that, it brightened up my day no end (me, shallow?! Never)

morning all

would someone change mine on the list i am planning a homebirth

bought a new printer the other week and it's a hp one and now i can not seem to copy and paste cos it puts everything onto the printers clipboard gonna have to dog out the instruction to sort that out me thinks

hopefully your hospital sounds lovely

had a lovely day yesterday if not a little farcical (sp?) went and took all that stuff i bought from ikea with dh and the kids (ikea where really nice you know as well no fifty questions etc)
went to tgi's for dinner and got seated in a booth and then found i couldn;t get out!! eventually managed to squeeze back out and asked to be reseated
went and bought the kids some toys fro toys r us and then went back to ikea and bought a gorgeous print

phoned taxi to go home only to find that tyhe print was actually that huge it did not fit in said taxi and had to put all back seats down and then still struggled to fit it in. dh and kids then had to get a different taxi home

gets home later on goes to hang print, removes plastic the print was all wrinkled and ruined at the top (we had actually taken one from the back so it wasn't knackered . goes to hang mirror bought on friday night unpacks and finds there are no fixings in pack

cue call to father begging to take me to ikea again he was not pleased and then pissed off cos the pic was so huge anyway we got it sorted and it does look ace!!

am off to buy some paint this morning i am feling the need to decorate again

you know that spd thing is that where your legs actually feel like they are coming apart from your pelvis? i felt like this accompanied with terrible back ache yesterday and feel much the same this morning

Morning all
LOL at your ikea outings mustsleep Yes, it does sound like that spd thing. Mine has actually disappeared since I have finished work. I reckon it was all that bending down I did. I am very careful with what I do now. I have decided not to contact the physio unless it kicks off again.
Ive not any news from john or kasha but ofen think of them. Good luck with your sunday lunch bacaroo. I ve just done a big cooked breakie for me and dh.
All set for the day now. We are going to pick up a mirror I like for the living room them off to toys r us to pick up shopping I left there weeks ago. (I hope its still there).

Ooh..forgot to mention...my boobs have stated leaking!!!!!!

My ds gave me an extra big hug the other day and when he let go my top was wet!

Only thing is..its just clear fluid, a bit like water..is that right? Didnt get any leakage with ds so not really sure what to expect.

Am SO thrilled...maybe my boobs work after all

I have just done an ikea online order...cannot face actually walking round there at the moment....

so yes i think i have to post this:

I had a dinner party for 35 last night and my mil should be up for a sainthood...but since the process might be a little long; I'm going to have a statue made of her in gold and send it to another country where it can be placed in a shrine. Mil did most of the cooking since the guests don't like 'catered' food because it doesn't taste like home cooking. so she did most of the cooking, cleaning up after and all the serving. she also let me sleep (since i was feeling soo ill and come late to my own dinner party).

but to be fair, i only threw the party to please my husbands family anyway. (we hadn't seen most of them since our wedding two years ago).

i also could not get out of my head this terribly vulgar song all night and did my very best not to even hum it around company. needless to say a couple times people asked me "umm, what did you just say under your breath, dear?"

and i don't even know why i was singing this song, i dislike rap music very very much.

biglips, i'm due on sept 20...i should correct my name on the list.

The pain in my ribs is soooo bad - it's like a burning sort of pain, unbearable-only lying down really solves it. And that doesn't happen much with a toddler around. At least the sun is shining, and we're off to a music festival thing in the park once Balamory is finished and we are allowed to leave the house!
