RUMPEL · 03/07/2008 14:24

Oh mean't to say that don't be embarrased by hairy bellies - beauty therapists see a lot worse than that! We get transexuals for facial hair removal, epilate bikini lines, lap dancers who want the lot shifted, hairy noses to treat, hairy nipples, boobs the lot!

All we ask is that you are clean and don't smell

Poledra · 03/07/2008 15:25

Well, have had my legs and bikini line waxed. RUMPEL I made sure I had a shower before I went and CilC it would appear that my bikini line was not as bad as I expected. It did sting a bit where the hair had got a bit long (sorry if TMI) but it's all fine now. So, having tidied my bod, now trying to tidy the house. And I still haven't managed to pack my bag.

Pigley don't stress on the stretchmarks. They really do fade - keep moisturising! And they're genetic so if your mum had them, you were pretty likely to get them too, I'm afraid.

On another note, dh cleared the kitchen after tea last night as I put our very grumpy dds to bed. All well and good but why does he never never wipe down the table and sterilise the chopping board? I'd chopped raw chicken on it, FFS! Dipstick!

cass66 · 03/07/2008 15:27

re bras, I'm usually braless by the evening. just too uncomfy and itchy under my boobs. not a good look, being bra-less though.

having just walked back from a friends in brilliant sunshine, it is almost certainly going to chuck it down soon, just when I need to walk to school. might be an excuse to drive!!!

CilC · 03/07/2008 15:41

Have taken the plunge and I am booked in to get sheared! Smoothness here I come! Am thinking to cover myself may tell them I am really a transexual.

Pigley the stretch marks do fade! As for the boobs...so not going there! Was told boobs drop double the 2nd time - is that true?

pigleychez · 03/07/2008 15:49

Ignore me on the stretch marks.... Just being a drama queen!

Just returned from my midwife appointment. Alls well, First time ever theres been no sugar in my sample!! (she says scoffing a pack of starburst!)

Had a different MW this time, she was lovely and chatty. Couldnt believe how neat my bump was and shocked at how much she could feel of baby..ie boney and could easily make out the feet etc.
Joked that im far too comfortable and relaxed for 39 weeks

Bp was alittle high again but not too bad and baby has engaged further. As we were chatting she saw baby move... my whole tummy moved side to side
Just as we were finishing she got a call to go to a homebirth.

Im another one with a hairy belly!

EEC · 03/07/2008 15:51

Hairy bellies unite!

Heffagooday · 03/07/2008 16:10

Does the belly fur go away after delivery?

bebejones · 03/07/2008 16:16

I think I am destined never to have my new car!!!! Had the most frustrating afternoon EVER...well maybe not ever!

Having sorted all the insurance fiasco I went to pick up new car...hoorah! Drove the 50min drive to go get it. Paid the balance. Went and got in, with the bloke talking through controls. NO AIR CON!!!! Which we had been told it had...and so had dealers!! So now they have had to order me a different car....exactly same but WITH air con, so will be another 2 weeks! So have had to drive away in car with no air con which technically I own, leaving behind my lovely little corsa (which had air con) beacause I don't own it any more They are of course not charging me for swap, are going to tax replacement car and fill the tank with petrol...but I am now stuck with a hot car in July!! With 4 weeks to go until LO is due! Dealer said 'let's just hope for some cool weather'.......more like lets just hope LO isn't early!!!!

On a positive note, had MW appointment this am with MY midwife! She said BMI was fine and I can go to Maternity Unit!!!! LO is 3/5 engaged at 36 weeks!!!! Really hope it's not a sign of her being early!!!! Just hope she is being a 'good' baby!

gillythekid · 03/07/2008 16:19

Pigley good news on the sugar and hopefully the BP will settle. I had my check today too and baba is a little further engaged, may have a bit of a water infection as leucocytes in urine but feel ok. Getting a period like cramp in the groin this avo, I hope baba is deciding to come soon!
Sat here on bouncy ball sorting out random scribbled recipes on envelopes, cut out of mags etc into a little folder, feel like I've done something as I can't really move around too well.
Poledra Wish I could go for a trim and tidy up downstairs, might ask DH to go on maintainence duty with the clippers again this weekend, think he's only just stopped getting the nightmares from last time.

Heffagooday · 03/07/2008 16:29

Bebe - glad you had a better MW appointment and can go to the maternity unit! Sorry to hear about your struggles with the car though.

Gillythekid - hope the cramps mean your LO is on it's way. Sounds like we should be having a few more babies on here soon!

sweetkitty · 03/07/2008 16:51

wow so much to catch up on keep starting a post and getting pulled away, had MWs here, I think they are doing the on call between them so one wanted to meet me and they both checked the homebirth kit and gases. It's so scary when you see all the medical equipment but kind of reassuring as well. 2/5s engaged (3/5s palpable) not bad for a third baby.

gilly - fingers crossed for you too, there are so many of us having niggles and cramps surely a baby will come soon

bebe - about your car but don't worry we didn't get our until the day before DD1 was born, I'm currently sorting out insurance again and it's funny it's the 19th July and she was born on the 20th. You will be fine with air con too and great news about being able to go to the MW led unit, wish we had something like that here.

pigley - aww don't worry too much about the stretchmarks they always look at their worst when they first arrive.

Loving all the hairy bellies/undercarriage stories, I do the sides in the shower then stand in front of the mirror and have a quick tidy up, I remember with DD1 I had booked myself in for a brazilian as I wanted to be groomed and tidy anyway she came before the brazilian, as if it matters.

minkus - I go braless most evenings as well, I pinch DPs big t-shirts too they are so comfy

EEC - Brittany is lovely I used to go there for work quite a lot (visiting cheese factories don't ask!) would love a cottage there suppose it's a lot easier when you live down South rather than up her to nip across to France.

Rumpel - heres hoping

disney - hope that baby hangs on but not too long

After tonight I have to hang on until Monday as thats when my favourite MW is on call again.

disneystar · 03/07/2008 17:14

pigley my tummy is a road map you cannot see where one stretch mark starts or ends

bra less at night i sit here in t shirt top no bra or sit on sofa in bra and knickers only my gosh what a sight i must look well theres no one here to see
and to top it all if my dh sees me like this he finds it sexy whats wrong with him how can i look sexy like that

you reckon he is being nice to save my feelings how many men are genuine like that?

well its dominoes tonight my feet are like balloons im so tired just took the dc out for a walk im gonna pay for that later

gilly me to have the cramps in the groin its hard to shut my legs now
you know guys we have no dignity left really do we
legs open
hairy tummies
stretch marks
and when these babies are in our arms we will all say ahhh but it was worth itand me il probably cry with relief and sheer happiness

Mummywannabe · 03/07/2008 18:38

Hairy belly here too! Stretch marks on my hips, my mum has had the widest, deepest marks on her thighs so when i look at her's i think i have so far got away lightly (would never say that to her obviously)

Having lots of niggles, about 20 mins apart or so. DH keeps grinning at me but i'm convinced they are nothing but BH. Boy either he will be disappointed later or i will be shocked!

disneystar · 03/07/2008 19:04

fingers crossed mummywannabe

pigleychez · 03/07/2008 19:12

Ooohh Mummywannabe....

Watch this space hey?!

Just scoffed a chinese takeaway- Yumm yumm yumm But now i feel full to the brim!

Disney- Nice of DH to play compliments ( true or not)

DH has examined my stretch marks tonight and says he can hardly see them.. Like you, not sure if he's just saying that to be nice

Bebe- Sorry to hear about the hassle with the car- im sure it will be worth it in the end.

Mummywannabe · 03/07/2008 19:15

I'm pretty convinced it's nothing but we will see. Have to say though its made it so real that sometime really soon its gonna happen!Oh my!

CilC · 03/07/2008 19:16

Disney - a lovely Nurse assistant told me when she was cleaning me after c section and removing my catheter when I was in hospital for DD's birth that when giving birth you leave your dignity at the door, but you do recover it when you leave. I remember thinking I had lost it earlier!!!

So glad to hear I am not the only hairy one.

Oh I would love to visit cheese factories...I keep dreaming of food. Strange to be so hungry and yet unable to eat much. My most favourite cheese is Vacherin Mont d'Or and it usually starts coming into the shops late September - just in time for me to eat!!!!

I really think my LO has moved and something is now up under the right side of ribs (right when I look down). It is really so incredibly sore as well.

Gilly - not long to go now and I hope like SK and I your SPD goes immediately after birth! I remember crawling on the ground with DD thinking I am ruined forever and being so shiocked at how quickly I recovered.

I have been quite tough on poor DH and I am now feeling a bit guilty. He looks so rundown at the moment. Trying to think what I can do to show my appreciation for him that does not involve physical movement (walking, moving, shopping etc). Any ideas let me know! My DH is really fantadtic and I sometimes forget how lucky i am.

Oh forgot to ad, DH took me for a drive in the car (exciting for me) and when we arrived at Waitrose there were all these police and security guards. Royalty were opening some official building or something...so we hung around for an extra 20 mins and guess who it was? Prince flippin Edward and all I could see from the car was his bald head!

purplejennyrose · 03/07/2008 19:25

Bebe - does that mean Stroud?? I'll be there next week...
Well my dd has been having 'regressive' episodes where she tells us she's a baby, crawls around making funny noises and wants to be cradled. So we were having a lovely cuddle on sofa earlier, and she nuzzled into my boob and said 'I want that..milk!' So i said ' oh really darling...' so then she pulled my top and bra down and licked my nipple! Apparently it tasted nice!! Have a feeling as soon as she sees baby b/feeding she's gonna want to join in...
Good luck mummywannabe!

min912 · 03/07/2008 19:32

Evenin' all!

Today's questions:

  1. The piles... discomfort and itching have gone with the cream but when does the swelling go down? Is freaking me out a bit.
  2. Engaged babies for second timers... do you 'know' when it's engaged? Can you feel it? My understanding is that subsequent babies don't engage until just before they are ready, is that right? I was walking around today just feeling so much discomfort/pressure quite low down but then it went again - could that be the bub moving in/out??

Today's rant:
Went to Mothercare to get measured for nursing bra - this time I want to get some underwired ones because I just felt so yukky after 10mths in saggy ones last time. So the 'specialist' (that I have to hang around waiting for someone to find) tells me I am 40 back size and 'either a C/D'. But wait, I say, don't I need to go down a back size and up a cup size? Yes, she says. Well I'm a 40E at the moment and I've not been a C/D for donkeys' years... was planning to go to Bravissimo anyway and this was just for a second opinion, but honestly, what a waste of time. No way am I going to fit into a 38D even! Grrrrr....

gillythekid · 03/07/2008 19:51

Oh Min they're crap, I've said it before, if they get a tape measure out, walk away, any corsetiere worth their salt will know your size from sight, Bravissimo is a sure bet!! I was 'measured' in M&S about 17 years ago as a 36C and on the way home popped into the 'old ladies bra shop' that we used to laugh at and was told I was a 30E, needless to say, I went home with perky boobs and a waist to die for! I've never been 'measured' with a tape since!
Re piles, my swelling is still there but not so itchy, think it would be wise for us to wait till after the birth to assess the real damage!
My hands have been killing me for the past 2 weeks, anyone know what carpal tunnel feels like?
CilC miraculous SPD recoveries all round, it's sooo boring not being able to move, if one more person tells me to go on a long walk to bring on labour...ggrrrrrrr...

JODIEhavingababy · 03/07/2008 19:53

Evening all,

Well no hairy belly here, but plenty of stretch marks. Mine pretty much all went after DS, I swore that the sunshine saw alot of them off when I went to see my mum...

My niggles are getting stronger, although not any closer together, (about 30-45mins apart) and no 'leaking down below' either. If nothing happens tonight I;m seeing my MW in the morning, do you think she'll have a feel to see if anything is happening or if it is just BH? I hope this is it, I'd hate to get my hopes up just to have them dashed! I;m trying to think positive thoughts, but on the other hand trying not to get my hopes up! I went into early labour with DS at 38+5 and I;m now 38+3, so we'll see!

JODIEhavingababy · 03/07/2008 19:54

Gilly I had Carpal Tunnel with DS, it was horrendous! I did go almost straight away, although DS was about 6 weeks before it didn't feel stiff in the mornings....

gillythekid · 03/07/2008 20:00

Hmm, they feel like stiff balloons in the morning, anything you can do?

jocesar · 03/07/2008 20:24

No stretch marks but very hairy belly! 39+2 going for a bikini wax tommorow- have to feel sorry for the therapist- god knows what she'll find down there!
Getting almost constant BH- stomach is rock hard most of the time but I'm not sure this means anything- been like this for about 5 days now. No other positive signs yet and unfortunately no nesting instinct. someone has to pop soon surely?

JODIEhavingababy · 03/07/2008 20:24

I was just told to keep them elevated as much as poss, and to try to sleep with them above your head!! You can get supports for them, but they are next to useless. I just had to ride it out I'm afraid!
