Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Mummywannabe · 03/07/2008 20:26

Jodie - i'm sure midwife will check you if you ask.

Well i'm still very niggly but not as regular as before. Off for a bath in a minute and early night (not in the nudge nudge sense either as DH poorly).

sweetkitty · 03/07/2008 21:06

Right having a good old bounce on the ball tonight, this little girl seems to sleep all day and then go mad at night kicking off loads of BH and pressure downstairs.

mummywannabee - sorry your niggles have stopped as well you as well jocesar

Jodie - I hope it is it for you too but be warned I never thought I would go overdue with DD2 after having DD1 at 37+5 and I did and had loads of false labour niggles as well the fact that they are getting stronger though is a good sign, apparently if it's BH if you lie down and rest they should go away

min912 - 1) don't know only had one pile cream sorted it out and 2) DD2's head never came down until 10 minutes before she was born and that was when they broke my waters, possibly because she has a big head bless her. Not surprised about the bras, sometimes I think you can DIY your size almost as well.

gilly - I second the SPD recoveries oh it is so good when you can turn over in bed again and walk

CliC - I'm more a mature farmhouse cheddar girl myself but do like a nice bit of Vacherin as well. I do miss all my cheese freebies. at Prince Edward when I first read it I thought he was shopping at Waitrose.

disney - you reminded me of my bedroom attire following the birth of DD1 (heatwave) feeding bra with pads in or sometimes those milk catcher things, big pants with sani-pad, oh I looked lovely I wonder how we managed to have a second.

Right off to watch Heroes, eat chocolate and do some more knitting.

ponto · 03/07/2008 21:17

Hello ladies, hope that some of you with niggles manage to go into labour tonight, I need to hear about some more babies arriving as there's no sign of mine. Have tried not to get too hung up on due date this time as previous 2 were induced at 42 weeks but secretly can't help getting very focussed on Saturday! Those who were asking about stretch and sweeps, there is evidence that they do work in some cases to induce labour if you're overdue but did not work for me (I had 3 last time, then 2 lots of prostin pessaries but nothing happened until my waters were broken then it was all over in just over 2 hours!)

I have a friend who had a stretch and sweep, during which the midwife realised that the baby was breech, the sweep brought on labour and she ended up having a c section 2 hours later!

Must go and do some more organising - dh is still decorating the nursery and I have to find a place for all my desk stuff as I have had to sacrifice my study/spare room

mcchesers · 04/07/2008 05:42

I hope for your sakes, I'm the only one up this early. Just didn't digest my supper at all last night and woke up choking on acid..pah. DH made me a really nice bath with oatmeal last night and it was ahhh nice for a wee while, then back to slathering on the germaline.

Who's idea was it for women to be at their worst right before they have a baby? We've got SPD, laryngitis, rash from satan's bum, and loads of swollen potato feet.

So yesterday, the midwife had a good feel at my baby and his funny wandering foot and said his head was still 4/5ths engaged. So close. If he were fully locked down, then I could go be assessed for induction..but just have that wee bit further to go. I'm reviewed again on Tuesday as have got traces of protein in the urine and let's face it, I'm not looking to hot.

Have got a viewer on Saturday afternoon, maybe baby is waiting for that to be done

ponto · 04/07/2008 06:34

I'm up too mcchesers - the dog wanted to be let out then I had a text from my friend who was due 2 days ago saying she had a dd last night - now I'm too excited to go back to sleep!

CilC · 04/07/2008 07:32

I was up also...but sitting outside on recliner chair. I woke up sooooo hot and just can not cool down. (It is not even that hot) It was lovely listening to the birds...
DH came down about half an hour ago and found me asleep! I think he thought it was a little odd I was asleep outside...and let's face it - it was!!!

I have a feeling someone had a baby last night...

sweetkitty · 04/07/2008 07:35

Happy 4th July Mcchesers

Anyone having a "born on the 4th of july baby"? Hope some of the niggles have turned into babies we haven't had a July one yet have we?

Nothing happening here quiet night think baby has had an eventful few days and is calming down, favourite MW not on until Monday so I'm not having a baby this weekend.

EEC · 04/07/2008 07:50

I was up too but watching Scrubs on DVD. Baby has got into very uncomfy position and I have wierd cramp like stitch pains in my right side.

Boiler broken here and the only time plumber can come is same time as DS's speech day. I just want to cry - I feel I just can't cope. The thought of taking dog for a walk is just too much, but I can't leave him inside all day. Just getting in and out of car is too much.

Sorry. I want this baby NOW so badly.

mcchesers · 04/07/2008 07:51

aww thanks Sweetkitty! I went round to the shop across the road and got a nice croissant (still warm yum) There is an american women's club picnic tomorrow, but DH doesn't want to chance it being in West Lothian and me being so close and all.

In took your advice and have decided to try and wait until 40 weeks. I think either the dandelion tea or the steroid creme or the antihistamines are working because my hands are starting to clear up. Yay! The weather could not be more perfect for me..nice and cool

sweetkitty · 04/07/2008 07:54

EEC - poor you I know what you mean, DP is off next week on holiday and is saying "oh we could go here and there" and I don't want to go anywhere but the sofa.

mcchesers - glad the rash is clearing up a bit, you just got to do whats best for you really weigh up induction against the rash really, I don't think anyone would blame you, you have suffered so much this pregnancy and it's time to meet your boy!

disneystar · 04/07/2008 07:57

well im still here woke up at 4am with terrible urge for the loo real bad pains then the niggles followed this has happened 2 days in a row now il be glad for tuesday
my dh home tonight i cant wait
hes on 2 wks paternity leave from monday as i go in tuesday its all gettin to real now

i guess he wanted baby today being the 4th and we are missing being home right now
i left it to late to go back and with my diabetes i didnt get permission to fly

anyway happy 4th july to anyone who cares out there

some one else has go to have there baby this weekend havnt they? weve all gone into slow mode

pigleychez · 04/07/2008 09:15

Morning all,

Mcchessers- Sounds like babys heading in the right direction . Glad your hands are getting better. Thats a good start

EEC- sorry your struggling

Disney- Not long now! My mum rang last night and said she thinks tuesday for me too Shes said various dates so far and all have passed with no baby!

Clic- Loving the sleeping in the garden I must admit i woke at 6 for the loo and ended up hangin out the nursery window as i was hot.

I had tummy pains yesterday evening... DH was getting bit anxious.
I booted him off the sofa to lay out and they calmed right down and stoped so guessing just BH's. Def makes you think though.

Not looking forward to the huge list of things i have to do ready for tomorow.
Soo much cleaning to do as ive been really lazy this week and need to do some cooking.. we have decided to go for a Buffet tea instead of BBQ as the weather doesnt look too good here for tomorow- typical when i planted all the flowers and made the garden look nice!

Happy 4th July everyone

Def agree we appear to have had a baby lull ( although possibly Kaz!) Come on babies!

SilverSixpence · 04/07/2008 09:17

hi guys, sorry i am so late but thought i might join you! i'm due on 16th july, so just a couple of weeks to go. Just moved house on Saturday, so am keeping active with unpacking and trying to work out where to put all the bits with no home! This is my first baby. I'd better get reading the 700 messages on this thread so i can work out what's been happening with everyone else

sweetkitty · 04/07/2008 09:23

We had loads of thunder and lightening last night so it's cleared the air a bit and it's nice and fresh outside today (although damp and a bit yuck).

disney - you are so on the countdown now

pigley - you take it easy and don't do too much for tomorrow although didn't Tjuice go into labour just after her wedding dinner so you never know

silversixpence - hello and welcome to our little (impatient, fed up, knackered, huge, swollen, sore, itchy) gang. Your certainly glutton for punishment moving house so close to due date.

SilverSixpence · 04/07/2008 09:29

Had no choice unfortunately! On Tuesday was on my hands and knees cleaning up the flat we moved out of so we could rent it out - afterwards had to lie down for the rest of the day I was so exhausted. Am also v itchy, does anyone know what causes it? And feet are really sore - like ive been walking around the shops all day first thing in the morning!

I'm actually not booked into my local hospital yet (on Wed) so am hoping the baby doesn't come early - but its not even engaged yet so its probably not that likely anyway.

sweetkitty · 04/07/2008 09:42

One of the ladies on here mcchesers has suffered v badly from pregnancy rash and itching, apparently v common it's the progesterone or something. She will be able to advise you on creams and remedies think she has tried everything.

For sore feet and anything else at this stage REST REST REST do as little as possible.

have started a thread on nipple stimulation in anticipation for next week

AggiePanther · 04/07/2008 10:03

Morning ladies.
I had a 4th of July baby !
But that was 2 years ago
Sorry if I got you excited

Had a bit more of a show today though so it's all definitely moving ... But I don't think DD2 will be too pleased if her birthday party is usurped (is that the right word?)- so hoping LO will stay put for now.

Hope all of you up at half past stupid o clock are not too exhausted.

Welcome silversixpence

pigleychez · 04/07/2008 10:16

Welcome Silversixpence

Aggie- Hope your daughter has a lovely birthday
I can understand about not wanting to share her birthday... Mines tomorow and ill be 39 weeks. As much as i want to see bubba i dont fancy labour pains and can think of nicer things to be doing

  • Oh thats sounds selfish but im sure you can see where im coming from.
JacobsPrincess · 04/07/2008 10:26

Hi Silversixpence. Welcome to the gang - be prepared to spend a lot of time catching up on pages and pages of messages, we REALLY like to talk!!

LOL at the hairy belly/waxing chatter, I've been trying to decide what to do with my "lady garden". Could probably do with a petrol driven hedge trimmer myself, but don't know 'cos I can't see it!!! Just a little question though - Do you trim before you get waxed? A freind suggested that it was only polite to do so for the beauty therapist.

LO due on 9th, so not long now. Consultant said she won't let me go very far overdue, so bubs will be here within 2 weeks. I've noticed peoples facial espressions have changed when they see me. When out and about, instead of the "Ooh, look, a pregnant lady!" I am now seeing their expressions say "Crikey! Look at the size of her! Is that a baby ACTUALLY coming out her?!"

JacobsPrincess · 04/07/2008 10:28

And i can't remember who asked (sooo many pages back!) but I'm having a second baby and he's not "engaged" yet. He keeps popping in and out (Engaged when I stand up or sit upright, not engaged when I'm lying down!) MW said that is totally normal for 2nd bubs and often they don't engage fully until the contractions have really squeezed them down.

ButterflyMcQueen · 04/07/2008 10:32

welcome silversixpence do you know what you are having?

morning fellow swollen tums

I am very emotional including waking in the night for a cry and then going back to sleep dp must be delighted!

feel like i never see midwife - everyone here seems to go all the time and i have been 4 times in total. might ring up and try to go today as feeling a bit willowky....

cleaned out 1970's wierd inherited oven yesterday whiich was the hugest task and today feel the need to stock up with supplies - must be nesting

have skived toddler group today just cant face rushing to get out

feeling tired and headachey! oooh i do hate moaning ...

disneystar · 04/07/2008 11:26

buttefly i feel tired headachey and very dizzy and breathless
last time for me to drive the car pregnant today what a relief i keep crunching the gears as i have a big beamer parking is nigh on impossible it takes so much effort to turn the wheel
my left leg and foot/ankle is so huge today very swollen

what a moan eh!

my head feels all muzzy if thats a word
by BS up the creek going way to high then hypo,s its dangerous to drive anywhere right now

this is my ladt weekend before LO so going to see king fu panda weekend i want to see it as much as dc
supposed to be going out for a meal for independance day
one thing we so miss is no one celebrates it here

mcchesers · 04/07/2008 11:27

Welcome SilverSixpence!

So how itchy are we talking here? as sweetkitty says, I've been suffering from PUPP which is a pregnancy rash that has spread all over my person in the last five days or so. Do you have a rash at all or is it just itchy skin?

BUT..If you are feeling itchy on the soles of your feet and palms of your hands, not to freak you out, but it would be first on my agenda to have your Liver Function Tests done to check that and your Bile Acid Salts. Sadly there is a thing called obstetric cholestasis that can be very very dangerous for you and baby. You want to make sure you don't have it or be treated for it asap. GP can also provide you with scripts for lotions and antihistamines that can help some.

Heffagooday · 04/07/2008 11:27

Welcome silversixpence! Hope you settle into the new place quickly

Apparently my BP is creeping up, and MW reckons that some of the niggles I've been having could be signs that things are starting so I have to see them again on Monday. Maybe my mum will be right at this one will be early after all.

Just to rant - my PIL were due back from 3 months travel on Sunday evening and we'd arranged to see them next weekend. They've ended up coming back early so got back home yesterday. Had a phonecall yesterday evening from grandfather-in-law to say what a shame it is for PIL that they live so far away (they moved to another county but it's only 2 hours drive) and that they're coming to see us this weekend (which I knew nothing about). DH is now going on about when we can fit them in this weekend - I've said I'm happy to see them but not wanting to make any definite plans because there's so much going on. I'm being totally and utterly unreasonable but I just knew that the second they got back, the extra stress would start.

BMQ - I see my MW once a week (now twice a week it seems) but only because of BP.

What a me me me post, sorry Feeling a bit random at the moment.
