Okay, I figured since I seem to be the only idiot regularly awake this time of night, I ought to start a new thread - here. Sorry if the title's a bit rubbish - I might be awake but I don't think my brain's really working very well.

I'd still be grateful for anyone's input on my name/initials dilemma.

Sweetkitty sorry I misundserstood what you were asking re SPD, thanks for your experience, that is very encouraging.

Thanks peanut those are comforting words. It is hard and very tiring especially with DH away most of the time and having to deal with a lively 4 year old as well. It was definately easier first time around. I have so much empathy for single mothers now, although my situation isn't out of choice by either of us.

Libralady you are an absolute star, I really admire you. The sleeping on the sofa, the constant expressing... honestly, you are doing so well.

I was interested by what you wrote as I was told to use olive oil on charlie's skin by the lady taking the first time mothers group at the health clinic. There is so much conflicting advice out there.

Re alcohol and breastfeeding, I did some research too as I was dying for a glass or two of wine in the evening. Well the only conclusive evidence of any negative effects I've found is that it can hinder your let down reflex - ie make it slower. And that it can have further effects on development if you drink to excess.

On tongue tie, my neighbour's 8 year old girl has it and she is getting operated on to have it corrected.

Hope you're hanging in there okay. Big hugs to you and Luke. xx

ongratulations Kaz.

SK my HV came around this afternoon and did Luke's hearing test as he was so chilled out. A1 OK. She also went through any concerns I had, weighed him, measure his length etc.

Oh and I asked about rubbing Olive Oil into his skin for the flakiness as this was recommended when DS1 was newborn. Aparently this is now a no no for some reason or another. Just baby oil on the bath. God how things have changed in the 4 years since I had DS1!

Spoke to HV about the alcohol and breastfeeding malarky. She hadn't heard anything about it affecting milk supply unless you drink to excess. In fact health professionals recommend a drink every now and then to help new mums relax.

Spoke to the BF counsellor as well re my milk supply and apparently I am doing all the right things, apart from not necessarily expressing enough during the night as hormones released at this time help with the milk production. If I was BF this would not be a problem. Also explained the problem I was having with getting the teat from his bottles into Luke's mouth with his tongue tie. She suggested getting a second opinion on the tongue tie as she'd never heard about one stretching before and it could cause problems in later life with licking out yoghurt pots, ice creams and kissing (when he's old enough).
Have done some research on tongue tie and BF and found an article by Dr Mervyn Griffiths of Southampton hospital here. So I am taking Luke to the baby clinic tomorrow to get a second opinion to see if he needs this snipping to rectify. I'm then going to give BF another go. Although I have flat or inverted nipples, it's not impossible to BF with these.
Has anyone else had experience of tongue tie?

I haven't made it to bed yet since the birth of Luke. I'm still sleeping on the sofa so I can make sure DH gets a decent night's sleep before the early starts commuting to and from London each day. Oh and tomorrow he's off to Halesowen for a change of scenery!
Oh well, better wake Luke for his next feed.

CONGRATULATIONS Brownowl and Kaz!!!

And good luck to anyone with signs - Rumpel? Mcchesers? (Sorry if I've got confused, I can't seem to remember anything from one second to the next these days.) And all the best for tomorrow Disney!

Even if I am all at all these babies due after me! Actually, all the babies so far have come early, haven't they? No surprise I suppose, really, seeing as it's still early in the month. Come on, LO, we're at the top of the list now, darnit!

I shouldn't complain really, as at consultant appt today they agreed I shouldn't go too long over, so I'm booked in for induction Weds morning. I really would like LO to shift on his own before then, but I guess that's just not likely now, and I am grateful they aren't making me wait till T+12 which is the norm here.

SPD - (who was asking? Oh yes, sweetkitty) last time round I did find it cleared up pretty much immediately post-birth. I can't say exactly when, as I ended up pretty much bed-bound for a couple of weeks with a combination of ME relapse, undiagnosed anaemia, plus the recovery from the 3rd degree tear - but I don't remember any pelvic pain in particular, and by the time I was up and about anyway, the SPD was completely not an issue any more. I'm hoping for the same thing this time, though I admit it wasn't as bad in the first place last time, as though I had elastic support and a walking stick, it didn't get to the crutches and wheelchair stage like now. So I don't know if that answers your question, but I hope that helps!

Names and initials in particular - our current favourite begins with W, and as I mentioned our surname begins with C: do you think it'll be an issue him being a WC since there will be two other middle initials in between?

I guess there will be a new thread soon - I am very I haven't had my baby on this thread, drat it all! (Well, not actually angry, just a bit cross, you know!)

trying to type and bounce at the same time

ponto - oh yes don't you just love the phonecalls, they get worse as you get overdue it's as if you are deliberately hanging onto the baby and love being pregnant!

donutmum - hang on in there

foghorn - how are you doing my dear? You don't know the flavour yet do you?

disney - will be keeping everything crossed for you tomorrow x

minipink - course I don't mind sounds like your friend is trying to put you down a bit, wonder why? did she try and BF herself and fail? Classic sign of low self esteem trying to put someone else down. You are doing great with Abbie (yes it's a lovely name too)

mcchesers - sounds good but I will be so if you go before me now

poledra - glad they are listening to you about the birth you want

CliC - glad baby has turned but you are having a csection aren't you? I get so confused about who is having what

EEC - no bet I am still here this time next week, have your others been overdue or early? Names are sorted well middle name DP still not sure hasn't come up with anything he likes though

libra1975 - Lara is lovely and I don't think LEW is a problem at all.

Aggiepanther - good news for you too

Oh forgot to ask who are my fellow SPD sufferers again there was CliC, purplejenny ?? Jodie?? I can't remember now and this thread is far too long to scroll down, just wanted to know how any SPD sufferers were feeling post birth.

Speaking of which names for new thread I thought

"hot curry, hot sex, pineapple and raspberry leaf tea - we are trying it all"
"we think we are gestating baby elephants" or
"just get out now babies!"

anymore?

Congratulations Brownowl! Good luck Disneystar, Purplejennyrose and Rumpel.

The phone calls and emails 'just to check whether anything's happening' have now started for me. 2 emails and 3 phonecalls today, I have managed to be quite relaxed so far but I remember from last time just getting more and more annoyed that people didn't believe me when I said I would let them know as soon as something happened. Anyone else getting this? Am I being unreasonable to hate it? Sorry for moan...
