Minnie - so sorry about DH. It must be so frustrating not being able to drive. Hope the meds do the trick.

Mummypig - lots of luck to you. Can't wait to hear about new LO!

Had a very uncomfy night last night - lots of pains in wierd places, and have woken up to breech baby once more! I am soooo fed up. DH and DCs are away for w/e which is nice and relaxing - only having to think of myself for two days, but it means I have noone to moan at with... 38 weeks now, so I really thought he/she had safely turned head down. Now I feel foolish for worrying abouty being back to back. If only!

I now have a whole day of bottom in the air to look forward to.

My next mw appointment not til 39 +2. Should I make one sooner now, do you think?

EEC · 28/06/2008 09:25

My bottom I mean as I attempt to turn LO again...

Libra1975 · 28/06/2008 09:45

Morning all, booted DH to the spare room last night and managed to get lots of sleep (inbetween toilet breaks )

Minnie1 - sorry to hear your DH can't drive, but glad he has got some meds, hope they work and you get a diagnosis.

Mccheesers did the oatmeal bath work?

mummypig - GOOD LUCK

EEC - I am taking the optimistic view that if the babies are still turning now that in labour they will turn as well. However I will be joining you with bottom in air as soon as I have worked out how to do that and surf the internet at the same time.

am I the only one still enjoying sex? (when we are both in the same bed at the same time and awake of course!)

Today we are going to the IL village fete where I am going to stock up on home-made cake hurrah!

Libra1975 · 28/06/2008 09:50

EEC - sorry I thought I read back to back where you said breech (I'm obsessed). In answer to your question - yes ring the midwife if you leave it to 39 weeks it maybe too late to do anything, but also continue to do bottom in the air positions etc.

AggiePanther · 28/06/2008 09:52

Morning - just whizzing through this morning.
Good luck mummypig!

Don't know if anyone is interested but found this site last night. In june they are selling their hypnotherapy birth relaxation mp3 downloads for whatever price you want to pay. I downloaded the free relaxation mp3 last night, put it on my phone and listened to it in bed - it sent me straight off - so I think I'm going to download the birth one today - can't do any harm can it.

Minkus · 28/06/2008 09:57

OOooooh good birthing vibes to Mummypig!

I had the hottest curry I've ever had last night, a Madras- strictly a sagwalla/ dhansak sorta gal normally- and it was delicious. I am a convert, it was so nice and spicy but sadly I don't think it was hot enough to encourage this baby out! So maybe I will try a vindaloo toight

DonutMum · 28/06/2008 10:13

Lots of labour vibes to mummypig.

Aggiepanther, think I'll look at that download - how much you paying? I've got a cd that my previous midwife gave me so I'll compare the two.

As for sex. I wish. Need a DH for that! He's due home on 8th July. Or else!

Got to take DS2 to birthday party 5 houses down today - think I can manage that. He's much beter now after his trip in the ambulance and DS1 is receovered from tonsilitis. Oh, someone said, don't know how you manage with two boys on your own. I don't - mum and dad are living with us at the moment. Thank God. Does mean I feel the need to throttle mum occasionally - and she me - but really, couldn't do it without them. Am very lucky.

Hope you all have good days.

Heffagooday · 28/06/2008 10:22

Oooh, good luck Mummypig!

My TENS machine arrived this morning and I've been stocking up on clary sage. DH and I actually managed relations this morning - not terribly romantic though!

We've got another weekend of desperately trying to finish home improvements before LO arrives!

Hope everyone's well

Polyxene · 28/06/2008 10:42

Good morning all! Goodness, just over 3 days and we're already more than a quarter of the way through this thread - I know which part of the thread title I'd be putting money on!

I've been lurking rather than posting the last few days as I've had a stinking cold though thankfully that's finally clearing up. I've also had a persistant headache for the last three days that just won't shift, even with paracetemol and lying down in the dark. Can someone tell me whether the sort of Solpadeine that is paracetemol + codeine is safe to take in pregnancy?

Minnie - sorry to hear about your DH, that's really not what you need right now, is it. And bad timing re the driving ban - do you have backup people that can drive you if you need to get somewhere in a hurry and can't yourself (eg when in labour or afterwards if you have to have a section)? Hopefully this is a reassuring story though: a friend of mine had a very similar experience of two fits in short succession about a decade ago, but has been on medication since then and has had no further trouble at all in all that time. So hopefully will be the same in your case.

Sorry I can't remember all the other things I'm sure I wanted to say to people while I was reading the thread...

I got a bit excited the other morning when I had a little bit of show, but absolutely no sign of anything getting going since. Due date in 4 days time...

DH is going off on long bike-ride with friend today, with strict instructions to keep in mobile-signal range! The friend's wife is kindly taking DS out for the day with her DD, so I'm looking forward to a day of taking it easy and trying to shift this headache (though I really ought to be doing a mountain of laundry, or at least writing up my birth-plan more clearly, oh, and going through the baby name book again to try and find more suggestions for this poor nameless little one...) I'll probably meet up with them for a curry in the evening, but to be honest I can only stand mild curries, so I don't expect anything to come of that!

Wishing a pleasant weekend to all (well, as good as poss in the circs!)

RUMPEL · 28/06/2008 11:00

Hi All,
not posted for a few days as I am feeling miserable! I am soo hot at the moment and huge and uncomfy and can't sleep. Was awake all Thurs night, finally fell asleep at 5.30am and awoke to cramp in my calf muscle about 30 mins later! Was awake all last night too Very frustrating Stil Dh is around to look after DD.

MUMMYPIG - fingers x bubba comes soon.

MINNIE - sorry to hear about your DH - hope the meds help and you find out what is up with him. Scary stuff though.

ABK - any news?

I am a fat pie 15stone 5lb now I am ready to go now as I have reached that puffed up turgid stage - my back is killing me and I feel so heavy all the time. I really don't know how people can bear being really overweight - so sore on your joints and cumbersome. Imagine not being able to reach your toes normally? I taped this 'fat and proud' documentary the other night - was quite empowering but even so being hugley overweight is not good for your health or flexibility

My Tens arrived the other day and I looked out my homeopathic birthing kit yesterday so:

For fast labours (SWEETKITTY et al):
Aconite

Sciatica - Bellis Perennis - also good for CS recovery as aids deep tissue healing.

Calendula tincture oil cream - for stitches apply directly or put calendula tincture in the bath or on compress.

Hypericum - for nerve damage after birth - eg epidural, CS, forceps, episiotomy.

Kali Carb - back to back babies and back pain in labour (wish I'd remembered this last time!)

Phytolacca - cracked nipples, mastitis.

Pulsatilla - encourages breech/transverse babies to move.

Secale - anti-dote to syntometrine (too busy puking last time to remember this too!)

You'll be able to get some in Boots but some are professional ones so try

www.helios.co.uk/

Some people think it is a load of tosh but I am a firm believer - sorted out my recurring tonsillitis when I was younger.

Must go as I have bright pink hair dye on my fringe and need to go wash it off and get dressed.

DH's friend coming today to finally do some lectrical work on the house - he is up for a big piss up tonight but DH has been warned!!
My bump has dropped so much it is nearly at my knees!!

Take care all
xxx

disneystar · 28/06/2008 11:05

hi all

well went for may last scan yesterday and baby only weighs approx 6lb 3oz i cant believe it they are usually around 9-10lb by now

going to see consultant monday and get my date for induction but in real times i have approx 8 days left till i get to hold my baby

i have refused section as i feel i can do this on my own as baby is small

i am so scared though willing him start on his own before the 8 days are up

hope all you ladies are ok

as for sex well im having a hormone surge i reckon my dh think his xmas and birthdays have come together i am determined to get this baby out

min912 · 28/06/2008 11:19

Morning all... not to be all silver lining Minnie but at least hopefully your DH is now getting the help/treatment he needs.

Yey for mummypig! Very exciting!

TMI alert

Thought maybe something was happening this morning... DH was getting DS ready to take him off to see his family for the day (I am off on a hen weekend, i.e. sitting on a chair eating watching my friends get drunk and sing karaoke!) and I felt some wetness down the leg of my pjs... went to bathroom and there was a small but not insignificant damp patch with a white gooey blob in the middle, but not very big... thought 'ooh, maybe it's the mucous plug!?' - but am not sure as I never got to see it last time/missed it as I have quite high discharge anyway and then thought... actually... I think it might be, er, residue from 'relations' with DH night before last . I really couldn't say, usually that type of thing is more, er, runny... but wouldn't a mucous plug be bigger? No smell either way... baby was moving around a lot at the time but quiet now and no more fluid of any kind, although I have had three BMs this morning which even for me is unusual! I think the little tyke is pushing against my bowel... thanks!

TMI over, but by the by I have put on almost 4 stone. Thighs and arse definitely bigger but I think it's mostly bump. Still, I lost it last time (took about 10mths) so I'm sure I'll manage it again.

Kaz1967 · 28/06/2008 11:41

sleepycat I think I am even more daft I am not scared of giving birth at all yet perhaps it is just too unreal yet

mummypig
Fingers crossed for you.. I think so too, the ban is here till he is seizure free for at least two years. Just have to deal with it and work around it as with alot of things.. Is your DS on meds?

Polyxene
Fingers crossed it will be the last and the meds will work.. Have lots of help around so very lucky. Glad your cold it gone my 2 DD are down with it. Bloody weather is horrible here again today!!

RUMPEL
Poor you one good thing is your DH is there to help with DD.. Rest up and know how you feel on the hot puffy thing.. I am cooking with the heat and DD have colds so cant have windows open weather is shitty here today!

Disney
I was told two weeks ago baby was 7lbs and last week i was told baby was 6.5lbs!! I never beleive them when they tell ne the weight.

Min912
Yes thank god he is on meds, i'll be driving myself to the hospital lol and home again.. Never seen my mucus plug but it sounds like yours may have gone!! Was there any sign of a blood in it? They say there does be a little red in it, but i really dont know.

Another horrible day here and DD are down with colds. Feeling pains but nothing happening what so ever. Dont think it will either. Looks like i will be induced again but at least i will have kids sorted and house clean b4 i go in
Hope you are all well.. x

ButterflyMcQueen · 28/06/2008 12:29

disney - i was told dd was just six pounds and she was 8 lbs 8 so i do not trust those scans

JODIEhavingababy · 28/06/2008 13:28

Hi all,

Think today's the day for 'wishful thinking' for alot of us (or maybe not!)

I've been having abdominal pain since last bedtime night, and alothough nothing signifcant has happened It is getting stronger, (but not enough to take my breath away) although still about 1/2 hour - 45 mins apart... Now my backs hurting.. I had a show 10 days ago..... It's probably nothing, but you can't help get excited can you!! Going out tonight with my friend for a curry, so we shall see.....

Been shopping today and bought my Arnica tablets, lavender oil and some tea tree oil (for the nappies), now what do I do with it all? Rumple? I've also started to apply teh Lansinoh to my nips, coz I remember someone saying ages ago that it helps makes your nips stronger??? Is this right?

I know it sounds daft but I went out with some friends last night for dinner (out 2 nights in a row) and we were all talking about our birthing experiences, and I was getting so excited about the birth. Am I mad?

Minnie Hope your DH is OK, not a good thong to happen at any time, but pants that it happens now!

Disney did your son's birthday go OK? Have you sorted out your childcare yet?

EEC Sending 'somersaulting' vibes over to you, you never know if it's turned once in the last 24 hours, there is obviously room for it to turn again... Or am I being horribly optimistic?

Sorry if I've forgotten anyone, I;m off now to drink some RL tea and order some stuff off Urchin, courtesy of the discount code that someone left... Can't rememer who, but thanks x

Sorry for mammouth post......

sweetkitty · 28/06/2008 13:42

Well I hobbled into Mothercare put DD2 in a P&T's and she just got her head under the hood don't know what to do now, do I order it anyway or buy something else but what else? Oh the dilemma. Also bought some more RL tablets. Nothing happening here although DD3 has been very active today ouch and ouch.

mummypig - sounds like things are moving for you now

EEC - hope that baby turns for you soon, if not you will always have asparkling clean kitchen floor.

polyxene - I have always been told paracetamol and codeine are safe to use when pregnant

rumpel - thanks for the advice will have a look later when I get the chance

min912 - if it is the mucous plug you will know about it soon enough I had one show that had a faint pink tinge to it and one that was completely clear (didn't think it was a show until afterwards).

minnie - nightmare about your DP not driving, you have a while to go before induction though same due date as me, thats until the 24th of July so we have a while to kick things off ourselves. I keep thinking I have gone myself twice my body knows what to do just wish it would hurry up (well after Thursday as thats homebirth date). I agree about the weight thing, never believe it until the baby is out and on the scales, I was told DD2 would be 7lbs + and she was 9lbs 3ozs.

Jodie - fingers crossed for you to

Looks like we may have another baby or are we all inventing symptoms and we will still all be here in 3 weeks lets hope not. Next weekend would be good shall we have a mass birth?

EEC · 28/06/2008 13:43

Since massive movements and wierd pains at 3 am I haven't felt any movements today. Can't help being worried. Phoned hosptal who told me to come in at 5 for monitoring. Isn't this a bit wierd - if there might be a problem shouldn't they want me in straight away? or am I being paranoid?

ButterflyMcQueen · 28/06/2008 13:45

sweetkitty

ds4 is like that in it but much better when seat is at back

my babies are big and its summer so i figure the pram will only be in this mode for a few months

in back mode or normal seat ds is fine

having said all this ds absolutley loves being in the high seat so i am not worried

sweetkitty · 28/06/2008 13:45

EEC - try not to worry baby may be sleeping or just having a quiet day, chances are once they strap the monitor on they will go mad.

sweetkitty · 28/06/2008 13:48

BMcQ - was thinking the same myself, how many times are you out in the driving rain, did think oh I will just get DD2 to hold a brolly she would like that. Also as you say won't be long until DD3 is in the front and the back will be the spare seat which is what I wanted anyway.

RUMPEL · 28/06/2008 14:26

Hi Again,

SWEETKITTY - Amber is the same but I figure it is summer after all and she seems quite happy in it - if you are shopping in a mall you won't need the hood anyway. Best of the bunch IMO. You won't be using it for too long anyway - buggy board for next summer.

JODIE - you can put some lavender in some full fat milk and pop it into the bath to help you to relax, you can also pop some on a tissue and sniff to lower high blood pressure or calm you down. Not so good at night though if your head won't shut up IYKWIM.

Put 3 drops of tea tree in the dry nappy bin to make it smell better. You can also put a couple of drops of lavender in your conditioner bit of washing machine to make clothes smell nice, put some drops in a spray bottle and scoosh your ironing. You can apply tea tree to a cotton bud and apply to cold sores, cuts, bites, stings. You can use it in water to clean your floors, bathrooms etc. You can put some in warm water and gargle with it for sore throats (bleurgh though!).

Arnica tabs start taking in labour if you can, 2 tabs every hour for 6 doses, then reduce to 2 x tabs 3x daily afterwards. They are good for shock and trauma, tearing, tiredness, healing, bruising. Suck them. Just keep taking them until you feel better - eg stitches have healed up, bruising has gone, swelling etc. Great to have in first aid box.

Rescue Remedy is another great thing to have - I always have some in my bag, works on the emotions when you are scared or have had a shock/fright.

DD is sleeping and Dh and friend are making holes in the walls to put sockets in etc. Oh just heard DD scream - think she is getting the cold! Am hoping I don't get it too! Must go..........

I am for a chicken korma tonight yummy!

mummypig · 28/06/2008 15:53

Hi everyone, still here I'm afraid! Nothing has happened since just before the midwife got here, even when both boys were out of the house. So I had a bit of a sleep and then met up with everyone at the school fete. Feeling quite disappointed now. Back pains coming and going but that's about it. Next door neighbour has said to knock and send boys round whatever time of day or night, so that's good.

Kaz1967 · 28/06/2008 16:30

RUMPEL been dosing the cat up with rescue remedy (few drops in his water) to make him chilled for the trip in the car up to links tomorrow

I was going to do hypnobirthing but because it has taken so long to move I haven't done anything about it. Today I found a free download on-line here just listened to it and must admit I feel amazingly relaxed. Not sure it it will work for the birth but it has got rid of my headache and I feel like I have just woken up.
