first scan was supposed to be 20 weeks with ds although we had a peek at 8weeks when he was just a tadpole with a heartbeat. Had another at 32 weeks to make sure my placenta had moved and you couldn't see anything but his bits and pieces on the screen at that one which would have made a great photo .

I have thought about getting one of those vanity scans this time round with the video. They do them at the bupa hospital in Leeds. It would make a great start to the home video. But then I worry that they are suddenly going to find out that the ultrasound causes autism/asthma/infertility in later life.

Happy birthday Theo. No definately not indian food in my house - although all that ginger would be good for the nausea.

SusiS · 18/02/2005 17:34

no dates yet at all!!!! will see gp on 24th - so take it that will start everything

RudyDudy · 18/02/2005 18:56

oh god - you're all making me a feel a bit useless for not even making a Dr appt yet! Will definitely do so next week. Am feeling pretty end of the day/week knackered at the moment so off for a shower to try and perk myself up a bit as off out for dinner tonight. First proper night out not drinking - I don't feel like it at all but it will be weird with everyone else getting drunk. Can't believe I won't be drunk for another year!!

Hope everyone is doing okay. Happy Birthday Theo - hope the Indian isn't too much FA.

marinda · 18/02/2005 21:31

Hi Rudy and Fastasleep - recognise you from TTC threads. I am trying to get an earlier scan being an old duffer and all that - I can't wait till 12 weeks. Has everyone updated the stats thread - last time we did it was a while ago. Is anyone finding work impossible ? I can hardly get out of door after chuching anf then feel like this all dat at work - darn't speak to anyone. Last week was such a long week - I will be 8 weeks on Monday. Hope the sickness wears off I feel I can't cope with it- morning sickness OK but all bloody day ?????????? Anyone else as bad ???????????

biglips · 18/02/2005 22:33

i had my first scan when i was 11 weeks and 4 days pg - i was in denial as i couldnt get it in my head to say that im pg (first time) and i went to another scan at 22 weeks - by then baba was a wriggler as was told by midwife she is still now (baba was born last oct 04)

penpal · 18/02/2005 22:49

MADNESS.Pls slot me in as due on 8 October on your 'planner'!!!

Bonniej. wow, agree with all you say and some!! How old is DD?

Dh just the same although is asking how I feel every now and again (although I did have a tummy bug). He must be using this as a way of coming round gradually. My symptoms are really going some. Bloated, heartburn, funny taste in mouthe, bigggg boobs, bloated, bloated, eating but not hungry, NEEDING to eat, even stuff I usually leave alone like chocolate, peeing a lot, etc etc. I will need to make a booking in appointment next week as I will be 7-8 weeks by then, had some bleeding but not scarily so. After having had a miscarriage I think I know when to be worried... this time it feels OK anyway..

penpal · 18/02/2005 22:59

By the way, took my two children and two cousins to an animal Farm yesterday and spent the whole day in sufference. Cost me £24.95 to get us all in there and I spent the whole day trying not to heave. )No-one but me and hubby knows at the moment about pregnancy). I had one cousin from my side of family and one from my dh (he was very wisely at work!!!) so although I was also with a friend with her two children we couldn't really talk as the cousins were older and 'wiser'...argh. As for the smells, well the pig area was particularly bad, I had my gloved hand over my mouth and my ds 2 yr old's hand over my nose. Only so long you can keep that up. Expensive pergatory for me, heaven for the kids, couldn't get them to leave...............
WHITE POST FARM - keeps getting better, more to do but wish less busy.

SusiS · 19/02/2005 07:41

morning ladies. not feeling too bad today! dp gave me a "lie in"! - ds woke at 6 and dp took him downstairs for feeding and playing. i still could hear them but it was sooooooooooo nice not to jump up and be awake in a second!!! - not actually feeling nauseas atm; but still don't dare eat anything just yet!

pen: where abouts is that farm?
poor you with that smell sensitiviy and pigs!!

marinda: yes, was quite annoying for me too; sickness from getting up till afternoon!!! luckily only the feeling and no actual toilet run - today is the first day i feel allright - hope it comes for you soon too!!!
oh, and for all others of course!!!!!!!

hushh · 19/02/2005 09:11

Hi all. Felt really tired last night so went to bed early, feel so much better now. I find myself wanting to eat lots of fruit which is good. Can't wait till my docs appt on 4th as then it will really sink in ! I'll be 8 weeks by then - I couldn't get an earlier appt at an convenient time (I work full time & don't want to cause suspicion just yet for various reasons). Sympathies to everyone feeling sick. Aren't ginger bics supposed to be good ?

Woodelf · 19/02/2005 11:13

Hi Marinder, as an 'old duffer' myself I do get anxious and wish I had an early scan for my own peace of mind. Have appt at local clinic for bloods, midwife etc but not sure if scan can be done there and it's not till 4 april! All sympathies to the ladies trying to keep it a secret at work as I'm in the same boat, sure they suspect something but probably think I'm too old (41)hee hee...

Woodelf · 19/02/2005 11:15

Me again, about ginger; it seems to be really good for nausea but how you take it depends on you. I quite like ginger ale which is not sweet and settles my tummy nicely. Others swear by the essence of it or just including it in food or making a tea. As I don't really like sweet stuff I prefer the ginger ale which isn't a good substitute for a nice G&T but hey, I can pretend!

SusiS · 19/02/2005 11:34

oh elf! i never thought of ale!!! i like it - guess i need to do some shopping today - well, i am out of icecream anyways

marinda · 19/02/2005 12:06

Off to buy ginger beer - thanks for advice woodelf- I am old duffer to - soon to be 39 aaarghhhh ??!!!!!!!!
Any other old duffers on this thread ??????

SusiS · 19/02/2005 14:09

Fastasleep · 19/02/2005 15:59

I'm 17 thanks for the happy birthdays for Theo, it was a great day... he's now happily walking in front of everyone which was a great added bonus for his birthday! ... I managed to eat sooooo much indian you wouldn't believe! But then again I'm still mainly at the starving stage... hope the ginger beer works wonders, great tip .... going to go sit with my DH and watch Theo bounce on his new trampoline for the next five hours lol

hushh · 19/02/2005 16:12

I'm 38 so I'll join in with the Duffer Gang !

marinda · 19/02/2005 20:12

Hush, Susis and woodelf nice to know i'm not on my own - booked nuchal for 24th march cost £200 - bloody hell!!!!! Brilliant new on the ginger beer it worked !! I am so knackered I don't think I can cope with work next week only work 3 days ??? How much does everyone else work and how are you coping ???
Fastasleep - when are you due ? You were not TTC for long then !!!! Any sicknesse etc... yet ?

hushh · 19/02/2005 20:14

I work full time & was totally knackered last night. Taking it easy now though & just off to have my tea now DS is tucked up in bed.

marinda · 19/02/2005 20:27

Crikey hushh I don't know how you do that full time - how old is your DS ? With my first pg I DID work full time - but I can't remember being as knackered as this - mind you not such an old duffer then... Have you booked a nuchal ?

night night

RudyDudy · 20/02/2005 09:25

welcome jm -congratulations

I've definitely entered the permanently knackered stage now. I'm studying atm so not looking forward to getting through this semester but at least I will be in the 2nd trimester by exam time - otherwise I really would be in trouble.

In fact, I should be studying now so better go before I fall asleep again. Might have to change my name to something more like yours fastasleep

cori · 20/02/2005 09:55

Congratulations to the new comers.

I seem to be exhausted by 6.00pm, whether I have done anything during the day or not.

Am also studying at the moment,I do my reading in the evening but find it is not getting done at the moment. I am only fit for laying in front of the TV.

This pregnancy seems to be shaping up pretty much like the last one. Indigestion has returned with a vegenance.
I have a half baked theory ( based on four of my friends) that if the pregancy is similar to previous ones then you will have the same sex child. If pregnancy is different ( i.e in terms of symptoms) then you will have an opposite sex xhild.

Fastasleep · 20/02/2005 09:59

Hehe I had to sleep in this morning left poor hubby all alone! Haven't gone downstairs yet.... I can't believe this is my second pregnancy! I think I matured quickly or..I'm just silly... both were planned after I got married in 2003 my DS is one and embarrassingly we tried for 4 months for this little bean!..... That ginger beer idea is sticking in my head although I feel oddly ok today, maybe it was the sleep in I hope you all get some rest...

And WELL DONE JM that's fantastic, I remember you from the TTC board too....shouldn't Hester be on here as well when she's got her net back - how brill!

Fastasleep · 20/02/2005 10:00

Oooh Cori really....don't get my hopes up! Because last time I was constantly vomiting by now...and I'm not... who am I kidding it's so going to be another boy lol
