Ah well, I have the same symptoms, If theory is true it is another boy for me. Ho hum

RudyDudy · 20/02/2005 10:11

I've been thinking the same Cori. So far this pg does feel different from last time. A lot less nauseous and not quite as tired. By this stage last time I was living on take-outs as I couldn't face even chopping vegetables let alone eating them. Eating much better this time. If it is I'll be on for a girl and will neatly have one of each

hushh · 20/02/2005 10:18

marinda my DS is 4. I haven't booked a nuchal - I would have to travel a bit to get one - I think I am going to ask about options when I see the doc though. Just had triple test last time. I am wondering what will be different this time round though & will I get 'increased care'. There's only invasive tests that can tell for sure though isn't there ?

Woodelf · 20/02/2005 10:53

Hi jm and welcome to the gang!
I am currently attempting to work full time although getting out of bed in the morning has been a bit iffy... I'm also in the process of establishing my hypnotherapy and counselling practice, so I have come home from work and then started to work again!!! Thankfully the tiredness and sickness is not too severe but I felt really dodgy last night after a Thai takeaway, it seems that eating too much is not a good idea! Also seem to have back ache a lot of the time which I never have before.
Do you have to PAY for a nuchal scan or does the NHS do them for free?
Glad the ginger beer helps!

jessicasmummy · 20/02/2005 11:00

well im a sahm with a 7 month old! i know im mad, but i didnt expect to fall first time, it took 4 months with jess - ooops! Oh well, lets look forwrd to it!!!

when are we all due then.... im roughly the 24th i think!!!

bonniej · 20/02/2005 11:49

congrats to everyone else. there's quite a few of us now! Love the ginger beer tip, i'm so desperate I'll try anything. Started off with no symptoms and now being sick constantly. Can't keep anything down at all. Bought some of those anti sickness bands but they don't seem to be working. Has anyone else used these? With my ds I felt exactly like this and with my dd no sickness at all, so going by that it's going to be a boy. I've heard a lot of people say you get more sickness with a boy. True or not, I don't know. Anyway booking my docs appointment tomorrow and going to ask him for something to help the sickness as there are some tablets you can get (my friend has been prescribed them). Can't wait for 12 weeks when hopefully these horrible symptoms will subside. Looking forward to enjoying the pregnancy again. Glad everyone else is wellxxx

Elf1981 · 20/02/2005 11:55

Morning all - okay if I join?

I'm 7 weeks pregnant and due on 12th October, according to BBC parenting website. Still very nervous about this stage, this is my first pregnancy (I'm 23 and have been trying for about four months) but I am very excited. I've held off joining this thread in case something goes wrong, and still drop in on the old TTC Thread!

My main worry is that I don't have any morning sickness and I stupidly want it, just to make me feel "normal" and more pregnant. Mind you, it's probably a good thing I don't have it, as we've not told anybody yet... aside from everybody on Mumsnet!!

Anybody else not got morning sickness or am I just the freak?! I do suffer from tiredness and needing to pee a lot, and a lot of food has started to taste different - went to MacDonalds last night and had a filet of fish and really could have done without the tartar sauce!

Oh, Jessicasmummy, I posted congrats to you on the new TTC thread - not sure if you'll see it, but congratulations

bonniej · 20/02/2005 12:03

Elf1981, don't worry. I was on here complaining I didn't have any symptoms up until recently and I was worried! Now I feel dreadful. I'm due 8th Oct. You might get symptoms soon but even if you don't, don't worry as I had a completely sick free pregnancy with my dd whose now a healthy 20 mth old. Congratulations and enjoy feeling well

Fastasleep · 20/02/2005 12:03

I'm due on the 22nd! Two days apart then JM lol... I was awful with Theo....really really badly sick for 6 months +.... I found that the sickness bands worked for short periods of time, as in they stopped me actually being sick for a while but I still couldn't eat cos I felt so rough! I hope you get some good tablets bonnie... the ones I got were just tranqs to be honest and they made me zonk out for hours on end so I stopped taking them...(but I had a crap doctor back then!)

Fastasleep · 20/02/2005 12:08

Congrats Elf! Try not to worry (I know I know - impossible!) I don't have that many symptoms yet and I did by now last time... every pregnancy's different

bonniej · 20/02/2005 12:16

the tablets are called Prochlorperazine Maleate. Just in case anyone else gets desperate you can mention them to your doctor. They were prescribed to my friend who was constantly being sick and she said they're brilliant.

Fastasleep · 20/02/2005 12:20

Definately not the ones I had, I'll remember that name!

Woodelf · 20/02/2005 16:12

Congrats fellow Elf and welcome to the club! My sickness is very slight and comes and goes any time, but still able to sink a few cups of tea. So far no cravings either apart from a need for saltiness in my food.

Elf1981 · 20/02/2005 16:20

Hi Woodelf. I have noticed that the other day when I had chips from the chip shop, I had salt added, which I never usually do (never add salt to my food usually) and I have switched from Cheese & Onion to Ready Salted crisps.

And... I have gone off chocolate.

Surely that's not fair?!!

Woodelf · 20/02/2005 16:23

GONE OFF CHOCOLATE !
Strangely although I rarely used to eat chocolate I find a swift mouthful gets rid of any lightheadedness or nausea until I can get to real food!!
DH was puzzled to find choccies I'd been given as a gift were actually disappearing and he hadn't eaten them for me! hee hee

Elf1981 · 20/02/2005 16:26

I know. I'm rather ashamed. I am a true chocolate addict. DH came home the day after we found out that we were pg and offered me a cadbury's caramel. Usually, heaven! But I couldn't face it - just didn't fancy it.

Have managed a couple of rocky bars, but they're more biscuit than chocolate really.

Going to my mum and dads tonight, where I usually have a choccie (they keep their fridge stocked in the stuff, unlike me!) and as they don't know about being pg, I think I'll have to pretend to eat one!

Moomin · 20/02/2005 17:08

ok if i tag on the end? bfp yesterday; due about 26th oct. dd is 4 in sept so she'll start pre-school a month before the grain of rice is due.

had my first proper retch today [proud emoticon]! boobs painful and a bit sicky but no other symptoms yet. eating like a horse as have been dieting for quite a while and with dd was sick as a dog from week 6 so trying to get my feeding in while i can (any excuse)

how exciting!

Fastasleep · 20/02/2005 17:11

Congrats Moomin! Another from the ultra lucky TTC board eh? I'm stuffing my face too don't worry lol... we can join the weight loss board afterwards

Lexie100 · 20/02/2005 17:53

Gosh i go away for the weekend and loads of new people

Didn't want to tell the hen party but did tell 3 close friends as was soooooo tired, needing a pee every few mins and not drinking. They were so excited.

I'm so tired now i think i'll go to bed. DH still out so lovely and quiet even the dog is asleep.

Ohh and got my 12 week scan on 4th April.

SusiS · 20/02/2005 18:04

welcome moomin - the more the better!

sickness is not too bad atm; still starts in the morning though and lasts anything till early afternoon. got some ginger ale today; will try tomorrow morning!!!!
oh, and loads of icecream - not so much into chocolate myself atm but icecream is always a welcome treat

jessicasmummy · 20/02/2005 19:40

hi guys - still early days here. Had family round all day and was SOOOOOO hard not to say anything - we are agreed we are keeping it quiet til i hit 12 weeks..... we managed last time, so hopefully will be able to manage it.
im guessing with my dates, assuming im due october, but will probably have a dating scan anyway..... no point going to doctors til i move next weekend as completely changing areas, and my new area gives me 2 scans rather than just the one i got here!

hope we are all ok, still dont "feel" pregnant - how many weeks were you all before you started feeling sick/achy/tired etc?!

marinda · 20/02/2005 19:44

Woodelf - yes you have to pay generally as not many areas of the country provide it for free on NHS. Not cheap either at £200. This test give the odds of abnormalities. But yes, Hushh - only invasive teasts can test for sure and these carry risk of miscarriage anyway. Have you decided what you will do ???
FELT TOTALLY knackered today and spent most of day in bed as a result. Oh the joys...

SusiS · 20/02/2005 19:50

i feel sick for a couple of weeks now; and it's not getting better really!!! - today i feel sick even in the evening

jessica: same here. we want to wait till 12 weeks! that's how we managed last time

yep marinda, totally worn out! so tired and exhausted - can only get better

hushh · 20/02/2005 19:51

No - need to discuss tets with doc on 4th. Re timings & stuff, if I remember the triple test was about 16 weeks whereas I think nuchal is earlier ? But I don't know what else is available round here.

Kiwifruit · 20/02/2005 20:13

Hi Ladies

Can I join in? Am sitting on the cusp of September and October (all the calcuators + doctor tell me I'm due on 26th September, but spoke to midwife, and she thinks (and I agree!) more likely first week in October as have a long cycle, and DH and I were in different countries the first week conception could have occurred... Will get a more accurate indication at my first scan, I guess (still waiting to hear from the midwife).

This is my first, and I'm feeling sooo tired! Am asleep at my desk by 2pm. No morning sickness, but waves of nausea all day (not curbing my appetite at all though ;-) ).

Am relieved to have found this forum, as am from NZ, so no family over here (my family anyway - DH's family are here), and no friends with babies, so not much of an idea of how everything works over here. Plus, haven't told anyone yet, so nice to be able to talk to other people about it!
