I've heard it's also good for smearing on newborn bums so that meconium doesn't stick. Is there anything it can't do?

bigboydiditandranaway · 19/06/2008 21:12

hi, not been on for ages, just need a bit of advice really. went to see midwife yesterday and baby is in breech position[i'm 34wks]she said i'd be checked again in a few weeks and if the same will be scanned. has anyone got any experience of breech babies pls? also feel really uncomfortable

dizzydixies · 19/06/2008 21:21

oh bigboy sorry you're not comfy - haven't had a breech but there are a couple on here who have and am sure they'll be along very soon to advise

now, not wishing to belittle your post but I have a serious imminent issue this evening - magnum white or strawberry cornetto?!?!?!?

oopsacoconut · 19/06/2008 21:34

Sazzles - peanuts grow underground - kinda like potatoes, we used to grow them in South Africa.

Dizzy - Did you enjoy 'come dine with me'? Zara??? was so fussy i'm amazed she wasn't a size 0. And Seamus - how weird and pratty was he? GO MAGNUM WHITE

On a totally different note - my norks have grown yet again!! My nice new bra's arrived today in a fab 36G and I have 4 norks now - Double boobage is not enticing according to DH I cannot afford to buy more in 4 weeks then more when baby arrives! Is there a big nork bra swapping company?

gigglegirl · 19/06/2008 21:35

evening ladies!!

Internet is buggering about (technical term) was doing it last night too so if I vanish that's why!

Not in the best of moods today and am mainly taking it out on my DH - he deserves it I have decided so I am managing to have a go about EVERYTHING that is annoying me - have left him downstairs watching footie!

Anyway was at the hospital for 3 hours today (mainly waiting!) Had the scan - all was fine with the baby which is the main thing so that was good. They have booked me in to have a scan every fortnight and a doppler scan every week.

Growth of the baby is fine so that is a really good thing.

Then had to wait another hour and a half to see the consultant. Saw top woman who was ok although asked her about piles and constipation and she just said buy over teh counter - fair enough but babies cost a lot of money I thought free prescriptions were for a reason anyway my bloods are still below the threshold to be prescribed drugs so just have to keep suffering and going back every week.

They won't confirm when the baby will be delivered just a we'll see how we get along. And didn't even entertain the idea of a conversation about a c-section - they reckon an induction would be really easy and straightforward.

anyway have had some good news today - my sister had a little boy today at 3pm, 8lb 2, Louis James. She's in London and sadly I don't think I can manage the trip down there at the moment and so it will be end of August when she comes up and I get to meet him. Boo Hoo.

dizzydixies · 19/06/2008 21:39

oops I love it - that seamus was a twat

to put you all out of your misery I went cornetto and duely dropped it so it was broken and the last one too - serves me right after two helpings of stir fry I def did NOT need it

gigglegirl so much for all out debating and pondering - am sorry for your wait its a PITA isn't it

def get your GP to prescribe them and then you can just phone up for a repeat prescription when you need more stuff

lovely news about your sister and welcome baby Louis, congrats Aunite Giggle

oopsacoconut · 19/06/2008 21:43

oopsacoconut · 19/06/2008 21:53

Sleep tight everyone

cyteen · 19/06/2008 22:10

Ahhhhhhhhh tiny stripey socks!

poppysocks · 19/06/2008 22:43

Congrats on your new nephew Giggle. Such a pain you won't get to see him for a while. Dreading my impatience when my sister has hers in the autumn.

Another rubbish day here. Went to lock the front door before bed last night and realised that my keys were missing. An hour later, still no sign. Up v. early to ask DD where she might have put them and after putting rather too much faith in a 2.3 yr old I'd lost another hour and still no sign. Gave up, used spare car key, was late for work so colleague had opened up the office and DH locked up the house after we'd left. I had the back door key....or so I thought. Yup - you've guessed it - lost that too. DH speaking at a conference and not due back until tonight. After initial meltdown on discovery (this was after checking with our two spare key holders, both of whom were also out of town) it actually turned out to be a nice afternoon of DD and I pottering around. We even went to mothercare with the intention of buying some useful stuff for DD2. Virtually everything out of stock though so ended up with some random stuff rather than the few bits we need. Never mind.
Anyway, DH came home and almost instantly found the keys. Was far too relieved to feel stupid or annoyed at wasted time!

On the subject of names, really coming around to Alexandra now - Alex for short. Problem I've had with this is there being many boy Alexes around. Anyway, am waiting for friend to have her baby (11 days late now, poor thing) and have just remembered that they have Alexander on their list for a boy. Hmm. Knowing my luck she is bound to have an Alex, just as I finally feel comfortable with something!

dizzydixies · 19/06/2008 22:48

poppy our Alexandra is Lexie but be warned they're fiesty lol

poppysocks · 19/06/2008 23:00

The one we've already got is and this one seems even more so given the kicking she gives me morning, noon and night, so should suit!

dizzydixies · 19/06/2008 23:12

as long as you know you've been warned lol

hope you're doing ok and not stressing out too much about the funeral

let me know if you need anyway, am off to bed as dh on till 1 or 2am and then nightshift tomorrow so will no doubt think he's owed a lie in

TwilightSurfer · 20/06/2008 00:24

Congrats on the new nephew Giggles.

Mighty long day here in the Twilight House. Truck not ready for pickup BECAUSE service rep didn't realize I wanted to have the extra services done that he was to call me about. So tomorrow then. He did offer to throw in a service (nice since I'm spending a good penny with this visit.)

Just an FYI my baby socks arrived today that I posted about a few days ago. THEY ARE SO CUTE! DH thought so too until I told him how much I paid...then he turned to me with this look . Whatever....it's just the price of glamour.

BigBoy.....BREECH what would you like to know? In the pregnancy section I have a thread and JustJules has a thread about the issue. Here's Jules' thread. And here's mine. CaptainCaveman's first was breech and now this one is breech so she's got a LOT of experience. On my thread several women offered links to good websites...try them. The baby may or may not turn. If you get the baby to turn now there's no guarantee the baby will stay head down. You could go in the day of delivery with a breech baby and suddenly the baby turn head down. It's a crazy and unpredictable thing. I will say during the times mine has been breech I have felt MIsARble (but felt even worse when she was transverse). Again, ask away and we'll do our best to help.

DD is standing next to me gabbing and causing me issue. If I've said once I've said it A THOUSAND TIMES...SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! let mommy type in silence.

TwilightSurfer · 20/06/2008 06:07

Okay I'm sharing this for the masses (and so I can read it later and worry about my sanity.) It is 1am. I put myself and DD to be at 8pm because I was totally zapped. I woke up 45mins ago with the most intense feeling of panic I've felt in a long time. The baby was moving so much it was as if she was not really in me but on me tossing and turning (having a fit...you know the kicking and screaming, rolling on the floor, out of control tantrum). Freaked I rolled over on all fours in the bed to see if could give us her more room. This sorta helped. On the plus side...no tightenings. BUT OMG that was the freakest sensation I've felt so far. Of course all the commotion caused acid reflux and the sudden awakening caused nausea and then the need to pee. So now I'm UP with a glass of ice water trying to calm my nerves. 31+6 today.

oopsacoconut · 20/06/2008 07:12

Poor TS - Just to say mine did a similar thing last night but I was awake - had to yell for DH as I thought she was going to escape Alien style!!! I think she was just changing position - seems to be back to head down this morning.

Buckets · 20/06/2008 08:08

TS, if you're still up how about taking a book into a nice lavendery bath to calm you both down? Always works for me.
DD has day off school today so we are going to the local activity farm, then try and work out how to get her haircut with DS around. This will probably require him to be asleep so either we find a hairdresser with parking just outside the window and leave him in the car or we walk about for ages in the hope he dozes off in the pushchair. Think she's going to be disappointed...
Had 1st NCT refresher class last night, how lovely?! Just 4 of us and teacher, I always forget how much fun it is hanging out chatting with other women about womany things.
Tonight is my mum's booklaunch, I am not waitressing apparently but being a 'social facilitator'! In my youth this involved 'occupying' the young men at my family's gatherings ("Mommy's li'l whore") but don't think there'll be any tonight LOL. I will probably go all shy TBH.

pregnancy1 · 20/06/2008 08:19

TS I was there with you last night. Went to bed super early having been slightly concerned that bean had been v quiet all day (but to be fair, I sat down in silence for the first time at 6pm having been in back to back meetings all day). Anyway, when I went to bed bean started punching and kicking her little heart out - almost felt like she was fitting...... Quickly went past the reassured she's moving feeling to the 'oh my god, what's wrong' feeling. Honestly - she can't win! (Amusingly I was 31+ 5 yesterday - 31+6 today - must be something about that age that makes them more energetic)
Hope you got back to sleep okay and your baby clamed down.
Miamla - just called Whipps X and confirmed that it's 2pm on Sunday - told to meet on the ground floor maternity bit. Not too sure where that is - been to the antenatal bit for the midwives and the classroom, but I'm sure we'll figure it out! Albs are you coming too? I'm pretty easy to spot - 5'10", dark brown bob, v pale and freckly. I've been told that I also have a look about me that says I'm the only woman in the world to have maanged to get pregnant (i.e. my dad says I look smug all the time - I say it's just excitement )
Anyone else, struggling with this working business? I planned to work right up until the end, but now having agreed to work until at least the 23rd july, I'm wondering how anyone manages it!!

pregnancy1 · 20/06/2008 08:24

PS Just been told that my dull white socks that i ordered from JL were out of stock, so you've all inspired me to buy cute pink/stripey ones . Do you think a baby with a completely white outfit and bright pink socks will look silly?
