LadyOfWaffle · 19/06/2008 16:41

Felt like I was one step away from giving him a big brush and saying "ok, now just climb up there... good boy... watch the soot!"

alittlebitshy · 19/06/2008 17:08

Quick scan of the thread shows that there have been several hospital apps lately. dizzy sorry you didn't get actual answers
Buckets did you tell the mw about your contractions the other night?

Captain yay for early mat leave!!! and for pram buying.

Lots of pram buying going on by the looks of it!!!

We had dd's sports day this afternoon. Was v different to how my sports days were at primary school - we used to hve sack races, scramble net races, 3 legged.... Today there were sprints, egg and spoon for the littlies and skipping (fast) with ropes for the bigger ones, and relay races. Uber serious

Feeling extra sick today. Dh is cooking though so I've managed to avoid having to feel rotten around cooking smells. Had a bad night last night - needed loo lots, my ribs HURT more than usual and I had lots of pains which I think were trapped wind (nb lying on my left side was proven to help at various points ).

miamla argh - I was thinking about hospital tours. Argh argh argh. What time are they? bearing in mind I'm having this baby 5 weeks today I need to get my bum into gear!

miamla · 19/06/2008 17:30

albs getting my bum into gear is exactly what has prompted me to mention it again!
looks like Pregnancy1 and I are going on sunday. i'll find out for sure but i think the tour starts at 2pm from the reception area in the maternity unit. Are you free to join us?

ooh and in about an hour all of Pip's clothes will be freshly laundered for him! its amazing how little his socks are. still haven't really got my head round how i'll have someone to fill the socks in a matter of weeks but hey, i'm sure my time will come!

Buckets · 19/06/2008 17:32

Ooh Albs, you've been having a rough time haven't you? Charcoal pills are pretty fast acting for trapped wind and worth a punt on any unidentifiable gastric issues, totally harmless, they just absorb gases (like a gasmask see? and come out the other end.) Health food shops do them.

I did mention Sunday's adventure and she wrote it in my notes, agreed not to worry if everything had resolved and baby kicking happily. Feeling better for my bath now, although DD insisted on washing me and I had to ask her for a bit of peace & quiet!

miamla · 19/06/2008 17:40

albs forgot to say... DH cooking sounds like a grand plan! we've got friends coming round tonight so just about to start lasagne but its the first time i've cooked this week because smells affecting me so badly.

buckets DP is apparently going to serenade me with his uke while i cook...we've created a monster!!

CaptainCaveman · 19/06/2008 18:12

The pram ordering must've exhausted me because I slept for 2 hours on the sofa after that! .

Friend came round for coffee and bouns she has an unused newborn insert for the Britax si car seat, so she will give me hers!! One less job to do.

TwilightSurfer · 19/06/2008 18:24

Hello ladies. At my dad's. All the children are in front of the tube so figured I could sneak off for a moment and catch up. Glad I did....loads of posts today.

Miamla: clean area then hold witch hazel to area for a few minutes (should feel nice a cool), pat dry, then put a dab of vasoline all over the area. You'll probably need to do the witch hazel part a few times a day if you're bad off otherwise just do the clean and vasoline after each poop. PROMISE you'll feel better in a few short days!!!

Buckets: Slower heartrate is normal now and so is looser stools as body is preparing itself for the final approach.

Dizzy: Tightenings are not as bad today but still there.

Sazzle: Peanuts don't grow on trees (DH is a native of South Georgia...peanuts are the #1 crop.)

I have to admit I'm about to fall over I'm so tired. Eyelids are propped open with toothpicks now........

OP posts:
miamla · 19/06/2008 18:32

TS i'm coming straight over there to get you if your promise doesn't come true!

have you been to see anyone about your "tightenings"? do you think that this could be, you know, erm, well, the bit that we've been waiting almost 9 months for?

readyforbed · 19/06/2008 18:53

oh oh oh oh oh...

left ds2 for 5 mins and he had managed to move all of the copper pipes that were sitting outside (don't ask) and in the process put a great big scratch down the side of the (new to us) car. DH at work (thankfully) - HELP - any ideas?

miamla · 19/06/2008 19:08

readyforbed send ds to bed early (bribe him if you have to). put on your sexiest outfit, do your hair, slap on a bit of makeup and the last thing your DH will do is notice the car
I know i know...i'm a genius
only flaw to the plan is if he notices the car before he sees you so perhaps you'd better position yourself in the front garden for a little while

miamla · 19/06/2008 19:11

if you want a serious idea... have you got any car polish? T cut is your friend in situations like this. how long have you got til DH home? if there's not long enough to polish it, throw soapy water over it and pretend you're about to wash it (whilst wearing sexy outfit to ensure that you don't have to finish washing it!)

i appreciate that all my ideas are only going to buy you time but i'm sure there's a garage near you that you can pop the car to tomorrow

actually., i've just come up with another idea...how about you tell DH what really happened?!

readyforbed · 19/06/2008 19:16

nice plan miamla, might add some fun to tonight, especially hanging out in the front garden looking sexy might get a bit cold though...

readyforbed · 19/06/2008 19:18

I was thinking about Tcut - might have to insist on taking that car to drop the kids and then go straight to Halfords (problem factor - getting the right colour... will probably end up with a different shade of blue...)

reckon honesty is the best option here though... his fault for leaving the pipes lying around in the garden?

CaptainCaveman · 19/06/2008 19:51

Deffo his fault! I mean, how stoooopid to leave pipes lying around where a young boy can just like, pick them up!

ts my transatlantic twin - I've been having really regular bh's for the past couple of days. Not quite painful but you can definately see Jerry being vaccuum packed with each one, and if he's lying funny then it does actually hurt a bit. I'm taking every day he's in there now as a bouns, given the scare I had a week ago. WTF? where has that week gone exactly?????

Well 7.50 and I'm in my pjs, contemplating 2nd pudding. Had coffee and walnut cake (yum!) earlier and now thinking of something else to see me through til bedtime

CaptainCaveman · 19/06/2008 19:53

miamla you sound very organised - can I send my washing down to you? please??

cyteen · 19/06/2008 19:54

Evening girls I'm not even going to TRY and catch up this time, suffice to say that everyone sounds more or less intact and in good spirits so that's a big yay.

I have been feeling a bit rubbish on and off this week, think it's the antibiotics - my stomach has been griping. Otherwise all good though, the sun's out and I'm happily MNing while DP kills cops on Grand Theft Auto

Off to make some tea now, back later.

miamla · 19/06/2008 20:03

CC course you can my dear! i'm really enjoying getting all the little things out of the washing machine!

TS I LOVE YOU !
vaseline is exactly what my poor bottom needed! the witch hazel bit was a nice affair but i did as i was told but wow, vaseline rocks!!!

my bh's seem to have calmed down. is it right that they happen more if you do more? i'm alot calmer now than when they were happening before so i guess that could be the reason

anyone fancy lasagne tonight? i've got a huge one in the oven and there's no way we're going to eat it all!

miamla · 19/06/2008 20:05

buckets wish you could see and hear my DP! All 6'7 of him is sitting crossed legged on the floor, hunched around his uke! the noises he's making don't seem too bad
I'm suitably impressed so far although they are definitely "noises" and not whatever song the book says he's playing!

miamla · 19/06/2008 20:08

oh no! he's singing along to "she'll be coming round the mountain" now with a cockney accent! (his normal accent is comedy northern)
has anyone got a spare room i can rent until the novelty wears off?

readyforbed well why didn't you say DH left the pipes in the front garden before? of course its his fault! he should be consoling you for the danger that might have happened to DS if the car hadn't got in the way of the falling pipes

readyforbed · 19/06/2008 20:09

yum yum, yes please to lasagne - have just looked in ALL our cupboards and found nothing I wanted, so had a packet of hula hoops... healthy eh?

trying to decide what to eat when you have nothing really in the fridge, don't feel like cooking and don't want anything in the cupboards. Also, nowhere delivers to where we live, boys in bed and DH out...

dizzydixies · 19/06/2008 20:14

no thanks to lasagne - am about to go and get second helping of stir fry whilst watching come dine with me - tis my shameful tv addiction

TwilightSurfer · 19/06/2008 20:18

Miamla, wild isn't it. Something so simple. It only took three days to fix my problem HONEST. It was the DDs doc that gave me the idea as he told me to put it on her bum after a bigD episode to help it feel better. Figured if it works for LOs it might work for me. Glad I could put a smile on your face.

Captain, glad we're still connected (but glad you disconnected before the bleed). This didn't happen at all with DD1. Again it doesn't worry me in the slightest because, I'll say it again, waters are still intact. With DD1 I went into false labor 14 days before she was born (5 days early). As long I make it to 36+1, I'd be fine if this is the countdown phase. Scheduled for a regular OB/GYN visit on Monday, we'll see what the doc says/thinks.

Still at my dad's. Wish the mechanic would hurry up and call me about my truck. It's beginning to look like I might not get it back until tomorrow. GRRRRR!!! I shouldn't complain and just be thankful we own three vehicles...so it's truly not an inconvenience. It's just a pain right now because I need to wait till DH gets off work before going home (or I could just leave him downtown.....nope I'll wait.)

OP posts:
cyteen · 19/06/2008 20:39

LOL at miamla and TS enjoying some Vaseline love

Ta for the lasagna offer but I've already put the dinner on - pasta and home made tomato sauce with shop bought garlic bread and salad. An oldie but a goodie.

dizzy I'm watching Come Dine With Me as well. The new format is just not quite as brilliant as the five-a-side bitchfests of old, but it's still hilarious

dizzydixies · 19/06/2008 20:44

cyteen we have a weekly thread slagging the bejesus out of them - hop on over and join in
