Morning!! Up early and will probably puke because of it.

Captain, tightenings are whole belly and "did" lessen/stop so I could sleep. However I do notice their return since waking (but only very very slightly). Since my blood pressure doesn't seem to be up and the baby is still moving AND my waters are intact....I'm just going to keep an eye on the situation (and try not to be concerned). I've said all along I'd like to deliver early but I should probably cook the kid for at least four more weeks....

DH vetoed Natasha. His exact words were, "We're not Russian." GRRRR he's driving me MAD!!! I realize it was only an "idea" but goodness gratious. GRRRRRRR

So it looks like Oops and Dizzy are both having glucose tests next week. Anyone else?

Expectant I have the black bubbles car seat. Was set to get the green bubbles till stroller arrived...the colors didn't go well together. Good choice!!

Good grief ladies, I cannot keep up with this thread at all. From what I can glean from a quick scan everyone is ok, at least now that Captain is back home with her feet up?! Glad to hear it and hope it stays that way.

Over here we're puzzling over pushchairs (anyone got any recommendations? We don't have a car so it needs to be public-transport-friendly) and feeling pretty uncomfortable in the pelvic area (I keep standing on one leg to see if it's worse, which I gather would be symptomatic of something worth worrying about, but so far not noticeably...) Oh, and cramming in all the concerts/plays/meals out/socialising London will allow while we still can! No wonder I'm knackered

thanks VG, he really does look like he's enjoying sitting down! i tried the saline bath the other night and it stuck like bu66ery but seemed to help a bit. was quite amusing though...DP bought a new special washing up bowl for the purpose of saline bath. he underestimated the size of my bum and we now have a new washing up bowl! we then tried various other bowls/plastic boxes...it would seem my bum is rather large at the moment so i ended up sitting in a tray designed to grow seeds!
Pain a bit better today, i hate taking paracetomol but have had to succumb to get through last few days at work
oh and well said on the little talking to, you gave to Dizzy about her appt

ts... ok boss, i'll pop out and get some witch hazel and vaseline today. you sound so optimistic that it sounds like it'll be worth the painful walk up to the shops!
ooh i love natalia! not keen on natasha due to associations to horrible girl i was at school with

buckets sounds like there's a story related to you, a bag of peas and you leaving the house...spill the beans....
if you've got non-painful ones now i'd recommend you start treatment before they turn into monsters! trust me! these ARE words of experience!!
And so lovely of your parents about the car

Dizzy thanks for your list. believe it or not i'm already on 20ml of lactulose a day, 2 sachets of fybogel and a bowl of all bran
DD's spotty bag is very cool!!

gigglegirl its obviously important that you get your hospital list done but its VERY important that you have a pretty bag to put everything in!

I'm trying to get my DP to read some birth stories (i posted a link ages ago so ask again if you want me to relink) so he's a bit more prepared. his bookmark is on the first story still but i suppose it does have a long introduction! at this rate he'll be reading my birth story before he's finished the book!
lol, Dizzy, i thought you "flocked" through books up there! didn't realise it was a typo!

poppy you NEED to make some time for yourself. i know its easier said than done but really, even if its going off to sit in the ladies on your own for a few minutes. I make a point of slowly walking the long way to the kettle at work. little things like that will help

sibh i'm sure your daughter will love George and if she doesn't, you'll have to teach her the lesson of "its the thought that counts!"
DP had a beautiful cake for his birthday yday, made especially for him by Mr Sainsburys!
Pip seemed to enjoy it, he was making the biggest moves around my tummy. DP couldn't believe it, i was convinced Pip would make an arrival last night! some of the moves felt like a strong elbow in my ribs and made me wince in pain!

CC thank you for sharing your story. sounds like you were incredibly brave and i'm so pleased Jerry decided to stay where he is for a little longer
i'm not surprised you're exhausted. i only spent 36 hours in the hospital but its so unsettling that i came home and slept for hours

sausagesandmash what a great name! v jealous i didn't think of it! are you sure we can't S&M? you'll fit in well round here! there's a great chain of cafes near me that only sell sausages and mash. i love meeting friends there "yeah, it'll be fine, we're eating at the s&m place!" They all seem to see the funny side...eventually!

sarahnh yup, i've started feeling sick, particularly in the evenings. oh the joys of being pregnant!

sazzles your dd's pink palace looks amazing! well done you!

thanks for tshirt commments... DB loved his and DP hasn't taken his off since opening!
Oh and the ukulelee was a big hit! we're both going to learn how to play although DP has got huge advantage given that he's already a master guitar player.

i'm so so sleepy. working from home today because we had the breathing/relaxation class at the hospital this morning. To those near whipps cross, i def recommend you try and get along to them. they're run by the physio dept and really worth while.
I'm trying to resist the temptation of a little nap but i think the nap might win!
talking of Whipps... how are we doing on organising a hospital tour between us? pregnancy1? albs?

right, i'm off to nap work now

miamla · 19/06/2008 13:15

woah! apologies for mammoth post! i was typing the message in notepad as i caught up on all your news and didn't realise how long it was!!

hmm in answer to your questions

  1. what's a Nuthatch?

  2. i'd say the sooner the better, don't want to leave it to late otherwise she'll be too big

  3. sounds like a business opportunity to me!

  4. erm, sorry, can't help with that one!

i haven't done a drop of work nor had a nap! my uncle popped in for a visit and to measure up for the plug sockets he's installing for us. so now i'm tired and worried about lack of work! oops!

afternoon all hope its sunny where you all are!

TS any news, are you still tightening away?

oops apparently its no longer lucozade you get but some other stuff - will let you know how I get on after Monday - btw I am MUCH heavier than you and have never had GD either time and am quite convinced I don't have it this time either so panic not

sazz fingers crossed for dd being at the CM and if you're sending her up the chimney does this mean I can send mine down the mines?

expactant pram looks lovely and I am as usual no use to anyone as like them both equally or keep changing my mind as to which I prefer - sorry

pertelote do you have a style you prefer? my first pram was a Jane Powertwin and I LOVED it but we walked everywhere or chucked it in the boot - am not sure how practical it would be to fold down for buses etc

here it has the option of a lie flat car seat which we got instead of a carrycot and when they were a bit older it could sit up so you could face them - the buggy seat only faces forwards though if thats an issue for you

britax vigour 4 we also had one of these - the buggy seat is rear or front facing and it can take a car seat or carry cot (neither of which we had) it just wasn't as robust for the forest/ beach as the three wheeler but folded smaller and was great for steering and choice of which way baby faced etc

there are soooooo many options now its no wonder you're confused - if you have any preferences let us know as we'll see if we can help

dizzydixies · 19/06/2008 15:36

and now -today in dixie home, as I know you're all on the edge of your seat waiting

had ok sleep but woke early and couldn't get back over so came down and fell asleep on couch - dh got up with kids and was in grumpy/hard done by moaning b*stard mode - this is our first thurs and fri where we don't take the girls to nusery for the morning and he was whining about going back to bed once he'd dropped them over - was NOT best pleased when I pointed out we had no where to drop them

got organised and out the house by 11:45 ffs - I can do it quicker on my sodding own and took the girls to local outdoors farm/play place - nice time had by all until was time to come home and then dd1 threw a paddy - wee madam - was duely told birthday party would be cancelled and she made a miraculous recovery from her devastation!!!

dh has had shower and off to work with him, still suffering but now its apparently his sinuses - sod him, he managed to the pub the other night so he's run out of sympathy from me am afraid, dd2 napping and dd1 and I having a little quiet time - i.e tv on for her and me on MN!

now remember the pram I ordered 3 days ago as it was to take 6wks to arrive? it came today

I was out cleaning out the car when big van turned up and bloke produced the box and tried to follow me back into the house

no no NO my friend and pointed him round to other side of house and opened that door where once AGAIN he tried to get in - good grief - what is it with delivery men trying to deliver things!?!?!?!

told him to leave it outside, signed for it and made dh carry it up through the garden to the shed where it has remained

I fully apprecite how much of a weirdo I am and how much you are all tolerating me for it

thank you

pertelote · 19/06/2008 16:00

Thanks Dizzy! The britax looks good, don't think we'll be seeing much of forests or beaches so that wouldn't be a problem... I do like the front/rear facing flexibility, but as I say lightness, narrowness and easiness of folding is going to be a big factor. At least that's how I feel when I sit at home looking at them on the internet: when I get into a shop and see the smaller, lighter models I go into irrational first-time mum mode and panic about how flimsy they look - in that mood I really want to buy a tank to push my precious baby around in! Which of course I would deeply regret the first time I had to get on a bus with it...

So having tried two already what have you gone for this time? (Sorry, you've probably told us all about it ten pages back...) I don't think you're a weirdo at all, everyone has their sticking point! A friend was telling me that in Israel you're not supposed to have anything at all in the house before the baby arrives - shops are now all set up for this, you order everything beforehand and they will deliver as soon as you do!

dizzydixies · 19/06/2008 16:04

I still have my jane for use just with baby - which is amazing as its still going after 5years of heavy use

I had to get a double this time as dd2 is only just 2 and is wild lol

have ordered and received into the shed, this one

duowalker sky

the britax vigour is not as light as a buggy but certainly not as heavy as a pram and the buggy seat really does tip right back for when lo has outgrown the carrycot, hth

dizzydixies · 19/06/2008 16:07

here is a link to their website so you can see it better - I see from there that they've also started doing a lie flat car seat too but I've no personal knowledge of it so don't know what its like sorry!

britax web page

Buckets · 19/06/2008 16:08

Had odd afternoon, got sudden diarrhea, tummy and lower back pain just before MW appt. Made my blood pressure go up (not hugely) and I even had a little sob in her office it hurt so much! She was at a loss as my urine was fine, checked my BP again on the other arm after measuring bump (32@32)and it was a bit better but still higher than usual. I noticed foetal HB was slower today too but she didn't mention it so obv not a prob. Feeling a lot better now but still peculiar, no more diarrhoea though. Have no appetite right now so trying to psyche myself up to find smoething to feed the kids.

Miamla - tell your DH the uke is played just like a guitar with a capo on the 5th fret (I think my DH said 5th anyway) - will save him a lot of time if he hasn't worked it out already.

dizzydixies · 19/06/2008 16:09

oh and I would got for the vigour 4 not the vigour 3 as its sturdier when pushing

am sure someone else will be along soon with some great suggestions too - these are just the ones that I've had

dizzydixies · 19/06/2008 16:11

buckets nothing worse than unexplained diarrhea - I've had really dodgy tum this whole pregnanct and its now becoming more of the norm somehow

of your lovely 32@32 bump though!

pregnancy1 · 19/06/2008 16:19

ooh - Miamla - on way home, so just skimmed this. Was thinking about going on the tour this weekend. Think it's on Sunday from 2 or 2:30pm ish. Is that any good for you?
I'll try and log on to check your resppnse tonight or if not tomorrow first thing

pertelote · 19/06/2008 16:23

Poor you Buckets, how horrid. I seem to remember reading that it is normal for the heartbeat to slow down a bit as the baby gets bigger?

Thanks again Dizzy for the suggestions! I love the look of your double . Thanks for the links, too, that kiddicare one has good prices compared to the places I've been looking.

Right, going to get some fresh air now before the whole day is gone! Bet by the time I get back this thread has doubled again . Take care all and enjoy your evenings!

Buckets · 19/06/2008 16:26

Aha, kids now fed: hot cheese wraps and strawberries in front of the telly. I'm off for a bath as my back still aches (that pesky right buttock again!)
PS no there's no anecdote about leaving a lumpy bag of frozen peas in my pants, but I could imagine it might be easily done.

LadyOfWaffle · 19/06/2008 16:36

Hello all, hope you're all doing well Managed a catch up (of today anyway so apologies if I have missed anything) while DS has been watching "Pippin!!" and am going to make sure I have at least 1/2 an hour a day to properly sit down from now on, not just quickly on MN, scan active threads and type a few random posts!

TwilightSurfer - I am getting mad tightening this time aswell, I had none last time so feels very weird! Personally I don't like the name Natasha, ditto Natalie (DHs cousins name ) although prefer Natasha to Natalie

Oppsacoconut - Good luck with your GTT - last time I had a ++++ wee test and then GTT was fine, sometimes it can be very random with the wee tests.

Buckets - I am really bad with names, but Shantih reminds me of the Jinny series books - the horse was called Shantih. Cor, I don't like alot of names do I?

CaptainCaveman - that's alot of sleep planned! I know how you feel, DS napped yesterday (you can tell it was a day off for DH, he prefers the easy options of letting him fall asleep!) so didn't do to bed until 11pm, so was up at 8.30 but I still had a nap at 1pm! I am starting to dread August now abit, if baby is anything like DS it's constant feeding which was fine when I could curl up in bed all day with baby, but have DS this time around. Really panicing, but fingers crossed DH gets this new job (he was told he would find out no later than Friday, then Monday, then Tuesday morning, then in the next few days! Hope it's not a bad sign) so he will be around a little bit more. I am just about to explode with the stress of it all ATM.

Pertelote (sorry if that's spelt wrong, can never remember!) - I have the same pelvic pain, when I stand on one leg it shoots down the inside of that groin. Maybe more pelvic floor/groin pain actually than pelvic ? It's where my episiotomy was last time, I am convinced I am splitting back open (Cue lots of hopping around naked infront of the mirror with one leg in the air! ) Sleeping with a pillow between my legs and one wedged under my bump helps ease everything alot (or I throw my leg over poor DH!)

Sazzles - of the chimney, I would love a nice normal house with a chimney, 2 proper floors and a garden. As for DD up the chimney, no idea but poor DS was subjected to a lovely 'game' of grabbing random objects from under our bed last Thursday! He's only 2 so it was heavy going "get the sock... the sock... socky... blue socky... yes, that's it! Bring it here... no no, bring it to mummy....good boy!! " There was no way I was going to fit under there! Poor DS... he loved it though [bad mum]

miamla · 19/06/2008 16:37

buckets thanks for the uke tip! i'm actually really surprised about how much DP likes it. obviously i'd hoped he would but thought it would be more of a silly present that something he'd seriously want to play with.
Hope your tummy gets completely back to normal v soon

ts dp's on his way home with witch hazel and vaseline for me..i'll let you know!

pregnancy1 yup, think you're right about time and day. not sure DP can make it this sunday but i'm keen to see it sooner rather than later so shall we say this sunday? (ooh this means i'll meet an MNer in RL!)

miamla · 19/06/2008 16:39

LofW i don't see how sending DS under the bed makes you a bad mum! sounds like he had a great time! and whilst he was playing he was learning his colours if nothing else!
