Gosh you ladies can talk. I really don't know how half of you ladies found time to make babies !

Nothing much to say so will just continue to lurk

alittlebitshy · 17/06/2008 12:32

bad morning.

Was just turning into our road after dropping dd off and going to sainsbury's when the car dies on me. got it about 10 foot away from the house, then luckily some neighbours came out. I sent them to hunt for dh who came out with the curate and they pushed car onto drive. curate took a look, thought it was simple... we called aa home start. It's NOT simple it's the driving belt ... basically means new engine. Since our car only cost 1500 2.5 years ago we're not spending 1000 plus on an engine / repairs. Panicked - cos dd's school is 2 buses away. Our car man (who we bought this car off) has a cheap car - we're buying it for £250 to tide us over til we can get another permanaent (ha!) car (need it for when baby comes - esp as pram was bought cos we have an estate!!). argh argh. Wonder what kind of a rust bucket it will be. We know it's the same as our dead car, just not an estate, but I wonder how old it is!!!!!!

readyforbed · 17/06/2008 12:42

petit I am going for a home birth as well (no bag packed either). Had a great experience with DS2 and all being well... hoping it will be at night though, as it will be the middle of the school holidays.

albs - how annoying! Why do they do that (cars) just when you don't need them to? Don't know how much you use a car, but just make sure that you are comfortable it will go until you get a permanent one - you don't need to be stranded at this stage!

Oh albs what a complete pain! Things like that absolutely throw me, it's the last thing you need at the moment. At least you were near home when it happened & not e.g. partway back from school or something. But I would be absolutely howling. Hope the replacement is suitable.

pf does jacuzzi style means it's one of those roomy, roundy ones? That sounds lovely (esp if you have one of those LUXURIOUS households I always envy for having buckets of hot water all the time) and you will be able to pass lots of time in it just topping it up as it cools.

Hazie shudder at finding KandyKnicks in friend's mother's room. Oh the dread!!

PetitFilou1 · 17/06/2008 13:27

sazzles that is the same in way in which when you are really upset about something men don't think 'she needs a hug' they think 'she needs a solution' cue dh saying 'you have a b or c option and you need to break it down into this blah blah blah' Depending on my mood I either get to plate breaking stage or yeah whatever stage at this point!
albs I am diverting from the point which is that is a big pain in the arse so sorry about your morning.
readyforbed glad to see I am not the only one - aren't you due around the same time as me? lazy can't be bothered to look at TS's lovely stats emoticon

Oh my work is going slowly today...

VintageGardenia · 17/06/2008 13:27

Expectant what do you mean re. baby gift at work? Is it an allowance given to buy something?

PetitFilou1 · 17/06/2008 13:29

VG yes it is. but it is designed to be sat up in so at the moment it doesn't cover boobs or bump even when it is full. And I need dh to come and help me get out - last time he shouted 'are you beached' and no we don't have hot water all the time sadly - house has an ancient old boiler that needs replacing....but lots more to do before that!

LOL our bath is supernarrow. When lying on back (with bump protruding drily like Krakatoa from the sea) you have to grasp handles and pull yourself up like a sit up. God it's dreadful. I look so horrible in it I wouldn't let DP come and help!!

TwilightSurfer · 17/06/2008 13:36

Just a quick catch up because trying to get DD ready to go to the dentist (just a cleaning)...

Belly Button: FLAT...disapeared months ago.
Maternity Bag: Standard small suitcase with wheels (airline approved carry-on size)

okay that's all the mind captured this morning, forgive me........

pf yes, due on 28th. LOL at your comments about your DH and birthing pool - had a waterbirth with DS1 - DH was asked if he wanted to get in with me - his face was a picture . TBH, don't think i would have handled it very well if he did, kind of go into my own space during the birthing thing, and the only thing he is allowed to do is have his hand ripped apart by my fingernails!

VG loving the undies website. Definitely going to have a purchase... M&S just isn't doing it for me!

VintageGardenia · 17/06/2008 14:12

Mmm they're nice, aren't they? Am hoping I got my sizing right, I measured with tape measure, band and bust, and took away to get cup size and was at very large size I came out with. But I remember feeding DS and I had about three greying nursing bras from Mothercare on rotation. I have taken more care of my appearance (well, to a point!) this pregnancy, and have felt much the better for it - so I am going to try & do the same while feeding. Hence jolly underwear and Liz Earle Eyebright. Perhaps it will mean I am in fit state to see visitors, struggle out to a shop, feel vaguely human.

Though alternative is also pretty likely!

Mmm nice cup of the Earl.

cyteen · 17/06/2008 14:20

Blimey girls, you can't half talk! I went out this morning at 10am and came back to find another 4 whole pages had appeared Is this nervous energy as we all start freaking out about our babies actually arriving?

Been out to meet the NCT mums again this morning, twas lovely and I had a surfeit of cake. Then I trailed them round the local health food shop while they bought raspberry leaf tea, lavender/tea tree oil, arnica tablets etc. They're all due in early July, so are just putting the finishing touches to their birth supplies whereas I haven't even started mine...made me a little bit sad that my own arrival is comparatively far away.

I think I just need to accept that my moods are totally out of control and don't bear any relation anymore to actual life!

Belly button is still just about an innie, although rapidly approaching outage. I tweezed a lovely bit of fluff out of it the other day

Am certainly planning to treat myself to some Hot Milk lingerie nearer the time, so let us know how it fits VG

readyforbed · 17/06/2008 14:21

oooh, and also, thanks for the honey & soy idea. Marinaded chicken strips in it & used it for noodle stirfry last night - every scrap was wolfed down!

PetitFilou1 · 17/06/2008 14:51

VG lol Tell you what you write my paper and I'll write your magazine piece. Maybe produce some interesting results? On a more important point - will the bras still fit when you are actually nursing if you buy at this point? I tend to go up a couple of cup sizes don't know about everyone else... Where do you get your Liz Earle from - I hear the cleanse and polish has had rave reviews on MN style and beauty. Please tell me you don't shop at QVC?

As you'll see cyteen both me and VG are on here doing work avoidance. No idea what everyone elses excuses are

cyteen · 17/06/2008 14:56
