Rolf you poor sweet thing - don't feel remotely bad for feeling rotten!! here is the best place to vent and we all have so much sympathy for you. it's such a shame about your muscles but when you're holding your beautiful baby in a (hopefully!) very short time it will all be worthwhile. your kids certainly don't care!! sending you huge virtual hugs. Rolf positive vibes - I'm sure your baby is head down. And I'm sure you're not pendulous either - is it one of those silly medical terms? (I hate most of them - when I had one, I got really irritated at the talk of 'miscarriage', despite the fact that it is the term, because it made me sound like a train with engineering problems.) Aren't they just overreacting? I know a woman who has had at least 11 pregnancies (10 children), and sure, she don't have a flat tummy, but then neither do I (never have), but she's cuddly in a good way! Nobody wants to cuddle a washboard stomach.
Sorry, trying to be helpful because I always find your comments to me to be the best, as we have similar situations going on. But you more than anyone else makes a big difference to me on here. You're doing great.

Hello everyone. I'm not in labour - no action going on here today.

Rolf - very sorry to hear about what has happened this morning (was it the same insensitive midwife?). Probably will set your mind at rest going into hosp. for the scan and knowing for sure. Have a good cry and let it all out and if all fails eat loads of ice-cream (works for me anyway).

Essie one of my friends keeps encouraging me to hang out in M&S because of the whole waters breaking/free stuff. I bet they're all urban myths, but could imagine most of the big stores giving lots of free stuff if you actually gave birth in a store (as long as you talked about it in your local paper).

PP, love the thread - it's keeping me occupied! I stupidly went for a lie down after my contractions started at lunchtime and now they've all stopped again. V frustrating! I want to go for a walk but it's bloody raining!

Rolf, you've probably left for the hospital, but sending you hugs anyway. You are not a smelly old dear with egg on her cardie! (We all have that to look forward to). At least we are all cursing your delightful midwife. Don't forget, mine couldn't work out the presentation the other day, and this is my first - and I certainly didn't have a washboard stomach pre-pregnancy.

PP - yes, get your OH to get rubbing your feet - professional or not, it'll make you feel better!

I have been reading Ina May's Guide to Childbirth this afternoon, but I think I'm missing the point. Have read lots of threads on here with people raving about her, but it's not doing it for me. Then again, I also hated the natal hypnotherapy cds - that bloody woman's voice! Arghhhhh!!!!

Good luck to anyone who's in labour right now, I hope it goes well and that it's catching.

Josey- hope you get some good results and are getting lots of support.

I'm nearly in tears with low back pain and sacral pain whenever I change position/ move slowly or do anything really. Sadly it's not the type of pain to get excited about either. Just glad it's the weekend soon so I can have some help with toddler-herding my lovely DD.

Rolf- your MW is an insensitive b*tch and not half the woman you are.

Lovely to read of the new arrivals and what lovely names everyone's chosen!

I can't believe that this time last week I was calling dh home from his meeting and thinking about heading into hospital. Rebecca's had a great first week of life - she's really very settled and content and is BFing like a pro. My biggest worry was how my 20 month old would cope and so far she's just being adorably cute and just wants to cuddle her baby and hold her. It's lovely.

rolf sorry you had a tough time with the MW. Hope the scan goes well.

ernest congratulations on the arrival of beautiful adele. She's got even more hair than Storm! I need to put some more pix of our bean on, but time is short these days! Re c section scar, our hosp told me precisely NOTHING about looking after it . I've had major knee surgery in the past so went on my previous advice on wounds to keep it clean and dry as much as poss and to tell doc if it became more swollen or hot.

I've been taking arnica (30c) several times a day on advice of my MW and also using arnica cream, while avoiding putting the cream on the incision itself. Since I remembered to take the arnica, a few days after op, the swelling has gone down a lot (Storm was v low down as I was pretty much fully dilated so my fanjo was pretty bruised).

I was given diclofenac for the pain but stopped taking it because it was making me feel a bit high, so I just take paracetmol.

I've been for a few walks but have made DH do all the heavy lifting and had lots of naps. I know with 3DSs that might be harder for you, but the rest has helped.

Off for a nap now actually. Hope to hear of more hatchings tomorrow!

DH came home and took me to the hospital and after a few false starts was actually really nice and helpful. He said he doesn't think I should see this particular community midwife again as she obviously gets me really worked up - every time I've seen her (twice this pregnancy, once or twice with DD) I've got upset. She's very nice, competent and well regarded but just seems to set me off on a complete meltdown. I'll think of a way of telling my usual midwife that whilst I'm not criticising her colleague I really don't want to be looked after by her again.

They were lovely at the hospital. The baby is head down but not engaged at all, and rather than go on about my stomach the midwife just said that it was perfectly normal for a multip not to be engaged, and that when I start having contractions that would move the baby down into my pelvis. If I do go into labour I'm to go in sooner rather than later, but that was the plan anyway. We got one of those rather creepy views of the baby face on - where they look like a scooby doo baddie! She is face outwards which I guess is good. I've got a post-dates appointment for Tuesday to discuss induction.

The most positive thing was that I remembered how nice they are at the hospital. I'd been reliving the bad experienes I've had there (medically bad, rather than becuase of bad treatment) and giving myself the heebie jeebies about going back. But the midwife was so helpful and reassuring that I feel much better about it.

So now I need to focus on taking each day as it comes and not getting in a state about induction. I don't know why I'm getting into such a state. I'm not usually so neurotic (actually I am but usually hide it really well!).

Our broadband seems to be knackered although DH seems to have temporarily resurrected it. Tomorrow I may only be able to check this thread via an ipod which makes writing replies very tedious, and so they will probably be short.

Rolf sorry to hear that you had such a difficult day, but pleased that going to the hospital was positive in the end and that DH was supportive. I hope you can get a good night's sleep tonight

Thanks everyone for the fly advice. I bought a fly swot which is quite therapeutic, although the little critters are a bit on the small side relative to the size of the holes in the swot, so not that effective. Think I will look into fly paper/citronella/lavender etc tomorrow.

My MW appointment was fine. I had the sweep, after a bit of groping to get at my cervix. MW declared on the phone to the hospital that I was "ripe" (which made me feel as though I was part of the fruit and veg display in Tescos). The baby also did a massive wriggle when MW got her finger on its head. It is evidently very comfortable where it is, and not keen on being disturbed.

I am now booked in for an induction on Sunday morning. So as this is the baby's last chance to do things on its own, I have been for a walk, eaten curry and more pineapple. Only the obvious left...(DH not keen I think)

I'm having niggling pains but nothing major - dh kept on telling LO yesterday that he didn't want a Friday 13th baby and would he mind staying in til Saturday, looks like he took notice of his daddy's wishes cos there's no sign of him making an appearance!

This is a v strange time isn't it? Feel like I'm in limbo and not really sure what to do. Know I should be trying to sleep but can't cos I'm too excited. I can't quite believe that, after five long years, I'm finally going to be a mum and I just want to meet my little boy now.

My hormones really are all over the place!!
