sophiewd · 25/06/2008 21:01

wear a good fitting bra at all times and breast pads as well, can't say for certain as mine are being weird.

josey · 25/06/2008 21:03

Debs congrats on the poo!!!
Essie PMSL at getting a smack on the rump and making yoghurt!!!
I feel a bit like that as I have been attached to a bloody pump for 3 weeks!!

Right I need to scream and rant Laura please dont take offence I FEKEN HATE DOCTORS!!!!!

I know my dd has brain damage I know she wont be normal I didnt expect the MRI to tell us any good news but....we are being positive with our situation and looking at the best of what we have got!!!! anyway talk about a punch in the face.....the doctor starts wittering about this that and the next thing she hypathetically has an infection is being ventilated and we need to shut the machine off WHAT THE F*?

I just want her home now so I dont have to listen to doom and gloom I cant live my life that way.

poppy34 · 25/06/2008 21:08

josey -think you're entitled to rant (And am sure LauraT won't take offence)..think Olivia is gorgeous and you've all been so strong. was this conversation today?

sophiewd · 25/06/2008 21:15

Amber - breathe.

yes the stump does stink and trust me it will fall off, I phoned with DD as well.

Is it possible that your DS has a touch of colic, I know DD had this as she was dificult to wind. I am sorry but I don't know whether you are BF or FF.

And sympathies with the scar, I know how you feel on that one.

bitofadramaqueen · 25/06/2008 21:19

Oh josey that sounds like a horrible conversation, so rant away. I dont think Laura will be offended either. Sending you positive vibes.

On a completely different note, it is time for a new thread again. Brain not able to come up with a witty title, but I'll try...

Due June 08 - We'd all like to bin the RLT, pineapples and hot curries and head to post-natal with our cracked nipples and constipation please!

Hopefully that'll inspire someone else to think of something better...

poppy34 · 25/06/2008 21:20

how about july 08 - less of the hens hatching, more of the cows milking?

josey · 25/06/2008 21:23

yep it was today the guy means well he just gets carried away from time to time and it drives me bonkers!!!

He said that his worst patients are like Olivia as she is perfect then at the last min god interfers and breaks everyones hearts!!

He was honest enough as well about how it pisses him off having to see druggy mothers...do you know they score at the hospital entrance!!! He also told us the med that our dd will go home on some parents deprive there kids of it to sell also asthma puffers they sell them in playgrounds WHAT THE FK has this world come to!!!!

Sorry def ranty Josey today

Amberec definately sounds like colic.

bitofadramaqueen · 25/06/2008 21:28

Ooh, much better poppy34 - but hope the july isn't an omen that the rest of us wont hatch till then?!?!? Think we should keep it as June so any newcomers find us?

Someone has started a June 08 thread in the post-natal section - have invited them to join us here until we're all ready to move accross.

Josey that doctor sounds like he needs to work on his bedside manner. He's probably trying to be helpful, but clearly going on about the druggy mothers is of no help to you whatsoever.

Amberc - sorry its being so tough.

poppy34 · 25/06/2008 21:32

think they teach them something at consultant school based on complete lack of tact and empathy josey bdq good point re july .. freudian slip as suspect this will be a july babe

Amberc · 25/06/2008 21:37

Am FF and try to wind him in the middle of a feed and at the end and am on max dose of infacol. Nothing really works does it for colic? I have breathed and don't feel like throwing myself in the river now.

Parofleurmapu · 25/06/2008 21:38

Hello

So happy for you Josie, and she is sooooo cute.

Debs - Im in the same boat as you plus have stitches all the way up there too and am constipated (sorry tmi) so double trouble. I am taking a herbal supplement every night called Plantaben that MW recommended but still only go every 3 4 days!!!

Fleur on the other hand has explosive poos!!! soooo funny!!! mainly at Dps 11pm feed, so far she has pebbledashed the dog!!!, towels, bedroom door her cot DP, me and her grandmum!!!! Hehe

She now goes to bed at 7.15pm , sleeps to 10/11pm and then feeds at 2am 5am 8am which is really good.

Was thinking the other day back to pregnancy when i was always getting up in night to go to loo, well no change there just getting up to feed, I also got annoyed with people saying oooh you are.... you should.... No change there either I mostly get ooooh she is very young to be out shopping in pram or its a bit windy shouldnt she have a blanket (its 26C here at mo)Another one in pregnancy i missed sleeping on belly still cant cause of humonggous breasts!!!!! Sorry was just thinking other day how in pregnancy we rant about things and think its all over !!!! How silly of us!!!!

But i wouldnt change anything for the world!!!
Have updated blog and there are some lovely pics on there at mo if i do say so myself!!!

Labour vibes to those of you still waiting

And hugs to those with problem DHs, babies etc

josey · 25/06/2008 21:38

he was trying to explain why we cant get meds for more than few days....it doesnt help his english isnt great....I have to say as much as he pisses me off I have a soft spot for him cause he is a lovely caring man where the other docs are a million times worse! I suppose I shouldnt complain 2 much about his bedside manner he made sure my daughter survived!!!

How about June 08 PUSHHHHHHHHH!!to the end of the month.

Rolf · 25/06/2008 21:43

Josey - you really need to get home and back to the real world, don't you?

Amber - hope he's calmed down now. Thea's stump is a bit gloopy too. Keep bathing it and keep it exposed to the air as much as possible - fold his nappy down so it doesn't cover the stump and when it's warm unbutton his sleepsuit and roll his vest up so the stump is bare - gives it a chance to dry out. I agree that it sounds like colic -how miserable for the 3 of you. I know lots of people swear by infacol. DS1 used to like being carried around in a sling - I think being straight helped him get more comfortable. Could your DP carry him in one (I guess you'll need to go easy on your poor tummy)?

Sponge - glad you and your DH feel better-rested today. Please don't feel bad about it. It sounds like the right decision for all of you. Hope your boobs settle down.

Essie - thank goodness Iestyn is ok but how crap that it took them 2 days to tell you. Impressed at your milk supply! My SiL had the same experience and apparently you can sell it on ebay . I think she expressed and donated it to a milk bank at her local hospital as it's wonderful stuff for preemies.

Well, I've said goodbye to my in-laws. I feel as though I'm going back to work tomrorow and have a horrible feeling of panic/depression/tearfulness. I know that I just need to plunge back in and I'll be fine but I'm really anxious about it. Partly on my own account and partly because I'm worried that the children are getting a raw deal with me spreading myself so thinly. Having help made me realise how lovely it is for them to have other adults around. They were taken swimming and to all sorts of places that I can't manage to get to on my own with all of them. Just feeling a bit sad about it all, sorry.

sophiewd · 25/06/2008 21:45

Amber - what formula are you using, we started on SMA with DD but changed to Cow and Gate and she was much better on it, also we did one session of cranial osteopathy with her and that and the change in formula produced a completely different baby.

debinaustria · 25/06/2008 21:48

Poppy - love the new thread title

Amber - sounds like colic, ds2 had it, tried infacol and it worked a little, if it continues I would recommend a cranial osteopath.

Thank you for the congratulations on the arrival of my 1st poo and no Rolf I didn't name it - cheeky!!

Sponge - you mustn't feel bad for changing to FF, your baby, your decision, that's all that matters

Josey - you are entitled to rant

Essie - ds1 keeps calling bfeeding milking and I feel like a cow today too - been feeding so much , bras don't fit properly, crap selection locally - i.e 1 in C+A, so will have to order from uk, so now I am sitting here with no bra, and a muslin under boobs to catch drips - nice image eh?

josey · 25/06/2008 21:54

Rolf lol yep I need to return

Debs you know they say leave your dignaty at the door, well your meant to pick it up again when you leave !!!!

Im so glad I bought my bras out of tesco they fit better than mothercare ones and at only a fiver I dont feel too hacked off i wont use them long.

Amberec maybe a change of milk?

debinaustria · 26/06/2008 06:31

Crap night here, Ethan fussed a lot, eventually got up with him at 5.00 , fed him and he finally went to sleep. Boobs are like cannon balls - so hard and sore, can't remember feeling this sore with the other 2 - any advice?

Parofleurmapu · 26/06/2008 08:29

I got the breastfeeding gel pads from mothercare which you can heat or put in fridge to cool they are bliss, quite expensive though. Also Lansinoh is absolutely fantastic it works wonders Fleur really guzzles at times and is sooo hungry im worried she will pull nipple off. but touch wood no wounds yet thanks to lanisoh. It is really expensive and have to order from uk but really good. Re bras i have same probs here deb they reckon all women have c cups god knows what some spanish women are wearing, trinny and susanne would have a field day!!! I got some nice cheap bras from the NCT website shop, and postage not too expensive certainly not 5 pound though!!!! Grrr at Josey

goingfor3 · 26/06/2008 08:41

Try the figleaves sale site for nursing bras, there are some real bargins on there.

katyjo · 26/06/2008 08:57

I think the breastfeeding is improving, have managed to get Mia latched on for a good feed the last 4 feeds, so hopefully that is a sign that the thrush is clearing, fingers crossed.

thegreenfairy I know exactly how you feel, men just don't have the same instincts as we do. If dh can't get Mia to settle he always says she's hungry and he did the same with ds. I also find that not having boobs is a great excuse for everything! ie not getting up in the night, to going out with friends etc. They don't have the same stamina either! To be fair though I think it is very difficult for them to bond with the children, they feel like there is no need for them anymore. Dh was telling me the other day, he didn't really feel he bonded with ds until he was almost a year old! I don't think this is really true, but I think until ds was able to show that he wanted his dad, he felt he wasn't required IYKWIM. I am trying really hard this time to make sure he has some nice time with Mia and I'm not correcting him too much.
I know what you mean about the noisy sleeping, both ds and Mia were moved into their own rooms at 3 weeks. I felt like a terrible parent, but it helped me relax and I sleep much better, so do they. I know its against government guidelines, but I do have the monitor on and she is only next door.

Amberc sorry your having a bad time, although I don't think I've experienced colic from about 2 weeks to 4/6weeks both of mine have had bad wind/digestive problems. They do settle down eventually but can be ver distressing. Best thing is heat, so baths are good and skin to skin contact. Feeding sometimes helps but they often bring it back up, sorts the problem but not very pleasant!
If your not happy with the cord the mw should come and check it, that's their job! I hadn't realise that it's a gangrene process that makes the cord come off, I had mw back out with mia as she smelt like rotting veg, I felt a bit silly, but that's what mw are for, don't be afraid to tell them you want a visit.
Good luck to all those still waiting, looking forward to some more birth stories soon (anyone else addicted to them!)

josey · 26/06/2008 09:20

Got a phone call at 4.30 Olivia back In ICU had a really bad seizure

PearTart · 26/06/2008 10:15

Can't really keep up- still in first week fog...

Josey- sorry to hear about Olivia's seizure, I hope she gets better.

Amber- DD had a really smelly and sticky stump. We kept it exposed to the air etc but MW advised us to see GP who prescribed an antibiotic powder that helps to dry out the goo and prevents infection. It's working really well. If your MW isn't helping why not see your GP (MWs can't prescribe this anyway).

debinaustria · 26/06/2008 10:25

Thinking about you Josey - and sending get well wishes to Olivia

Sarahpo · 26/06/2008 10:54

Urg not looking forward to the constipation/stitches situation either...funny coz at the moment i cannot stop pooing sorry TMI but i am assuming that is because baby is sitting on my organs...he/she is certainly using my bladder as a trampoline because i keep getting shooting pains up my you know what ACK not long now.....
