morning sophie! another insomniac!

PearTart · 13/06/2008 05:11

Hi Sponge thought things were happening for you.

& Sophie- I'd add bloody back pain to your list.

Miserable

PearTart · 13/06/2008 05:15

Sponge- I agree about the limbo feeling. it's just a waiting game now. Unfortunately an uncomfortable, painful one. It'll be worth it when we get our babes. But I feel like shit right now. Sniff!

debinaustria · 13/06/2008 06:40

MOrning all

Rolf - glad your hospital appointment went much better than you expected.

Sponge, Sophie, Peartart - hope you got some more sleep

Allipalli - for fruit flies you can make a trap, get a glass jar, put vinegar in the bottom, make a paper cone, with a small hole at the bottom, which slots in the top of the jar, tape in place . Vinegar attracts the flies, they go down and shouldn't be able to fly back up.

debinaustria · 13/06/2008 06:41

Off to hospital this morning for another check up.... watch this space, taking boys to school thismorning - hoping the walk will set me off

whinegums · 13/06/2008 06:47

Morning all. Woke up starving so had to get first breakfast of the day in. Am here with tears rolling down my cheeks laughing at a thread in AIBU - To call off my wedding. Deb, if you're still there, have I look, it might set you off more than the walk!

sophiewd · 13/06/2008 07:01

Good luck Deb.

I was nice left DH sleeping and came down and indulged in 80's nostalgia and watched Top Gun, dosed for a bit. Quick shower and then get breakfast going.

Hope everyone has a good day.

fungle · 13/06/2008 07:50

I too was awake at bloody 5 o'clock, just couldnt be bothered to come down and put computer on. Agree with sophie, sodding noisy birds. Had lots of vivid labour dreams last night too, very realistic. Do you think its on my mind or something?!
DD decided to wake at 5.40 as i was awake. Shes prob going to be a total grump by 8am. Hey Ho. Think I did my Fri 13th bit yest, got shat on by a seagull and stood on a paving stone that flipped up water.....from the fish shop just been being cleaned. Lovely. Hope today is a tad better.
Good luck all those with hosp/MW/labour today!
Im off to the doctors, think Ive got thrush...AGAIN. Anyone else suffered with thrush in preg at all?

dylansmumplusone · 13/06/2008 08:24

morning all. feeling very period-y but no contractions. had acupuncture yesterday which actually made me feel really unwell for some reason. now off to midwife for sweep and check up.

sorry no one seems to be getting any sleep. i know they say it's preparation but surely we need sleep now more than ever???

ErnestTheBavarian · 13/06/2008 08:59

morning all, good luck Deb.

Sophie, I got the mesh bags yesterday, thank you very much.

GF, I was given a reasonable amount of instructions re wound, was hoping more for a clear no housework, etc ha ha. Luckily my dh has been brilliant.

Have potential uti aso lots of wee wee pain. hope it clears up with lots of drinking.

sophiewd · 13/06/2008 09:16

Hi Ernest - no housework for 2 weeks is what I have been advised when i have mine.

ErnestTheBavarian · 13/06/2008 09:37

just 2 weeks?

Remind me why you're having yours?

Good luck. The 1st 2 days were really awful for me, wasn't sure how much was the sectin & how much the after pains. They were pretty bad after ds2 & ae supposed to get worse with each birth. Ouch. Goodness know how hese women feel when they're on to number 7 or 8!!

ErnestTheBavarian · 13/06/2008 09:40

btw, hope that didn't sound like demanding and explanation, lol, just nosey and forgetful

Amberc · 13/06/2008 09:56

OMG at the calling off wedding thresd!!! And I laughed myselof stupid at the funny moments in childbirth - can't wait for gas and air!

Well done to those who've sprogged and good luck to those who are sprogging (not me clearly).

I had the day from hell yesterday (hence no postings). Was at the hospital for 7 hours - 7 hours!!!!!!! I feel utterly rotten now. I had my baby heart trace done and it was much too high. I was panic stricken as I could see it going up to 185bpm and the baseline was over 160 (usually 140 ish). So for the next 7 hours I had to get transfered over to NHS emergency consultant had three more traces (all much better) - three hours worth. Then my MW came to see me and said they were going to induce me tonight so I called DP. Then I had to wait 2 hours for a consultant to see me who said everything was ok and she wasn't sure why I had been transfered and that I wasn't going to be induced. They gave me another sweep though and now I am in agony with my SPD and can hardly walk. They are going to induce me definitely on Tuesday though as they think that's a good halfway house. I am sick to death of it now. Got to go back for more monitoring on Saturday. I hope this baby comes out naturally - they said I can't have my waterbirth if I'm induced.

Also thought it was D Day in the night. Woke up about 3ish with nasty pains in my lower back and tummy. I started timing them and it was niggle then painful peak then niggle then gone every seven minutes on the dot for 2 hours. By that point I decided to try and sleep through 'cos I was so tired and thought I should get sleep while I could and not wake DP. By the time I woke up at 6.30 they'd gone!!! What is that about??? I feel cheated!

Also woken up with the show from hell again after yesterday's sweep - how much more of this stuff is in me?

Rant over

whinegums · 13/06/2008 10:09

Back up after another sleep, and I'm now having second breakfast....

Fungle, I too am having bizarre dreams. Not surprising really is it? I also got crapped on by a pigeon last Sunday - urghhh. But it is supposed to be lucky .

Sorry to hear about those suffering from thrush/pains/utis. Arghh! Not fair is it?

Ernest, don't think I've said, massive congratulations, and Adele is gorgeous.

Amber - yesterday sounds horrid, I hope things start moving naturally for you very soon.

LauraT · 13/06/2008 10:31

Rolf glad that the hospital was a more positive experience, sounds like a good plan to speak to your regular MW and a diplomatic way to avoid the one who upsets yu.

Amber good luck, yesterday sounds majorly stressful!

Whinegums Ooh, might try and go to Neal's Yard then, sounds good is that the one in Royal Exchange square?! Did you know revivial retreat on Byres Road is doing pregnancy massage now? seems reasonable think £35? not tried it yet, saving it for maybe next week!

whinegums · 13/06/2008 10:34

Hi Laura - yes, it is Royal Exchange Square. All treatments on Sundays are £20/hour (and then 15% off anything you buy in the shop afterwards). £35 sounds v reasonable for massage as well. I'm one week away from EDD today (!) so might book in for some sort of treat next week.

Amberc · 13/06/2008 10:41

Please all of you who are feeling low today read whinegum's suggested thread - it's the funniest thing ever - look at the photo only once you've got to the end - cheered me up no end (even though it hurts to laugh!)

Hi guys, you have probably guessed by my radio silence that I have news! The lovely Caitlin Rose was born on Wednesday evening, got home last night .

Short birth story: Went reluctantly to the consultants' appt on Weds afternoon, the woman was fantastic and happy for me to put off the induction till middle of next week, but they also did a good sweep and found I was 2 cm dilated. The sweep got me to 3-4 cm, and by the time I got home was having regular, painful contractions. Got ds to bed, realised I couldn't read his bedtime story for the pain, called delivery suite and they had me come straight in; I arrived at 8, examined at 9, no cervix! delivered on the floor at 10.05 after 13 mins pushing. She cried before she was fully out and was born with the membranes over her - supposed to be good luck! Couldn't have been more different to last time. Bloody painful because it was so quick but can't complain - it really was the fantasy birth I didn't dare hope for .

She needs feeding now (and that's a whole nother story - terrible latch is doing me no good at all, need to get that sorted out, ouch) so will catch up on thread and probably update more later, but wanted to let you all know! Hope everyone is well, will catch up when I get the chance.

Amber- big hug, what a sh*te day you had. I can understand why you feel cheated when things appear to be starting then stop. Good luck on Saturday.

I'm totally f*ucked off with this last bit of pregnancy. Cross-eyed with low back/sacral/ muscle pain and limping around the house. (Limping after a busy toddler is not much fun for either of us!) And no sign of labour anywhere on the horizon!

I've noticed that I've started swearing like a trooper. Apologies to all of a sensitive disposition. But I'm f*ucking miserable! Sorry also for not responding personally to people- I just can't think straight. Going to cry now.

PearTart · 13/06/2008 10:51

Systemsaddict- that's fantastic news! Well done on a great birth with Caitlin Rose. That really does sound ideal.
(I'm crying and smiling at the same time now- it really helps to hear some good stuff!)

aberdeenhiker · 13/06/2008 11:04

systemsaddict - wonderful news! And I love the name Caitlin! We had it on our short list for a while if we'd been having a girl!

aberdeenhiker · 13/06/2008 11:06

PearTart - hang in there! Maybe a good cry is what you need.

PiggyPenguin · 13/06/2008 11:21

Hi everyone, thanks for all the congratulations and good wishes. Jamie is doing well although seems to have decided that the optimum time to feed is throughout the night which is exhausting, especially as he he also seems to have a bit of reflux going on, so when he isn't feeding he's being sick! Still he is extraordinarily beautiful so we don't really mind.

Quick birth story. I started mild contractions tuesday evening but was able to sleep through them. By 3.00 Wednesday afternoon I was only 3 cm dilated but the contractions were getting really painful so we prepared the house and started filling the pool. By 5.00 I was 7 cm dilated and got in the pool and started a bit of gas and air. He was born in the pool at 6.10. He had the cord wrapped around his neck and shoulder which was a worry as it meant the midwife couldn't unwrap it from his neck until his body had started to deliver so I had to push him out really quickly. Actually I pushed and she pulled and he popped out like a cork from a bottle, he ended up at one end of the pool and I shot down the other end! He was a bit blue but soon perked up and by 6.30 we were in bed together all dry and having a cuddle.

Actually it all went really well and I would throughly reccommend giving birth at home to anyone who fancies the sound of it.

Right, off to read the rest of the thread and try to post a picture.

pleasechange · 13/06/2008 11:31

Congratulations systemsaddict! Caitlin is a lovely name, and the birth sounds nice & short!

Had huge row with DH last night and still not speaking. Basically it was about him leaving stuff all over the house and generally messing it up, after me using what little energy I have in the daytime to make it clean & tidy. Grrr! How can one man make such a mess within 5 minutes. And all he could say was 'you knew I was messy when you met me, stop trying to change me'!!
