oh, she's gorgeous ernest, well done! I'm sure you're not hideous!

allnew and DQ I'm with you in the end of June nothing happening zone, have spent far too long surfing the net and had a sleep to try and pass the time! I've got plans for the next few days though so hopefully that will pass the time better!

went for a coffee yesterday with a friend and her 9 month old, and she had made me a relaxation kit for the last few weeks, with cinema gift vouchers, chocolates, foot cream and a puzzle book! how thoughtful

LauraT · 11/06/2008 15:53

allnew my mat leave had to start on a Sunday too, which meant I had to work a random Monday before stopping for annual leave, mine starts officially on Sunday coming.

essie I hope your husband's phone is back on soon, could it have run out of charge rather than him switching it off? I had to put my foot down the other day about a Stag do that DH wanted to go on in July, when the baby will be only a couple of weeks old. he wanted to go fishing in the Bristol Channel for 3 days. He's not going now!

Melly Pretty sure your cover person is not allowed to contact you with that kind of rubbish, especially as it's after your due date! what an insensitive cow!

pleasechange · 11/06/2008 16:03

Laura - what a lovely thoughtful present for your friend to get you!

I think I'll treat myself to a facial next week, have been in 2 minds whether to spend the money or not, but I think I will. Won't have time in a few weeks for that sort of thing!

debinaustria · 11/06/2008 16:30

Oh Ernest - Adele is gorgeous

poppy34 · 11/06/2008 16:57

essie you are being completely reasonable - your dh is being an arse. Also at rolf and amberc dh comments... I'd like to see them spend a morning in our shoes with spd, pains etc and see how they like it.

Melly ppenguin right re contact - my work were being dead cagey and odd about asking permission re contacting me about payrises etc - was basically cos they're not allowed to do it unless they ask (did point out that these are due to be communicated at about time lo allegedly due to arrive so care factor could be quite low).

in today's campaign to get things moving (found out baby moved down to 2/5)

dear lord - kids next door home from school and practising piano.. its the theme from sports night. Think may have to have discussion with the bump about what kind of musical instrument she may not want to learn...

Rolf · 11/06/2008 16:59

Ernest - she is gorgeous

Mellymel - it's really out of order, your cover bugging you like that. Not what you need at all is it?

Laura - your friend sounds lovely. I hope I have some friends left by the time this baby arrives. They are being very understanding about my Fr Jack behaviour and keep sending nice messages via my in-laws.

That reflexology session really did help me relex. I had a lovely nap and feel so much calmer. I even tried out several baby names on my bump, which I haven't done for about a week as I just stopped believing I was ever going to have a baby. I'm going to phone her tomorrow and see if I can see her again. The baby had better come soon as it's costing a fortune!

mellymell · 11/06/2008 16:59

Thank you all for your messages of support, and yes, laura, this girl has the skin of a double skinned rhino and is a nightmare to work with/for. Have just had another email from her to tell me that another of my clients (that she is looking after) has decided to terminate their contract with the firm. This is the second since I went off on maternity leave and if I didn't know it, I would think she was losing them intentionally. By the time she's finished, I won't have a client base left. Not encouraging.

However, on the better news front I think getting angry has helped shift the babe - have just come back from the midwife who gave me a sweep (or 'sooty' as my DH calls it) and she said I was 1-2 cm dilated already even though I haven't had many contractions yet, so the waiting may soon be over - thank goodness.

Essie and others in the waiting room - getting cross must help a bit!!! Release that emotion.

sophiewd · 11/06/2008 17:15

ernest she is lovely - from what I remember you need to keep the scar celand and dry (when not washing) OK found my leaflet, take it easy for 2 weeks avoid heavy housewrok and shopping lifiting etc, gently moving around and climbing stairs enough exercise to start with.

jules43 · 11/06/2008 17:16

Not been on for a while, due to internet problems. Congrats to all new mothers and babies very jealous, I want mine to be out now!

Due on the 19th June so a week away, however no twinges or anything happening.

Bad timing new neighbours moved in the flat above me, she has 2 boys and they are SO noisy every evening between 7 - 11pm its is like a herd of elephants upstairs constantly. They had a party on Sat night till 1.30am so I complained as I couldnt sleep. Now they have the football on full blast as they are Portugese!

Loosing the will to live with them as feeling knackered and a bit grizzly.

Josie57 · 11/06/2008 17:17

HI All,

Haven't been on in an age, well since last Thursday and boy have things moved on! Anyway, I just wanted to say congrats to all the new chicklets that have hatched. I am still waiting for mine but unlike most of you I don't want mine to arrive just yet as I am having too much fun with my ds. I only started my maternity leave last Friday so being off is still a novelty and we've been making the most of the nice weather and doing lots of fun stuff. I'm sure by the time my due date comes around next Thursday I'll be desperate for the baby to arrive. Mind you my MW said I was measuring small for my dates yesterday only 36cm and I am 38+5 so on the cusp of their 3 cm error margin. Still I have a scan and sweep booked at the hospital next week so we'll see what happens then.

Just off to see who else has hatched and who's put photo's of their lovely little ones up on their profiles.

pleasechange · 11/06/2008 17:18

jules - you will be able to get your revenge when the baby arrives!

goingfor3 · 11/06/2008 17:21

Ernest Adele is beautiful. I love hairy babies!

jules Your neighbours sound terrible

I'm sure I've mentioned these before www.bigmuz.com/ . I have found them really useful especially in the hot weather to cover baby and put over the pram to keep the sun away. I just ordered three more as they are fab!

PregnantPenguin · 11/06/2008 17:37

OK Ernest - you've set the waterworks off again for me! In a good way. What lovely photos! I so hope my little one has a full head of hair.

Re: Clothes, it's funny you're asking the other hatchees that because I was wondering today what I'd be wearing post birth (other than PJ's!). I'm not worried about fitting into pre preg clothes, but presumably without the bump the clothes I'm currently wearing will look wierd...How long does it take for the bump to go?

Allnew - I am sure that the 'official mat leave start date' no longer has to be a Sunday. I thought it changed when the new legislation allowing longer mat leave (and making pat leave compulsory) came in... When's your due date? Your mat leave cannot start post then! If you want me to look it up let me know - preg brain too fuzzy to remember!

Poppy - My bump is already an accomplished drummer! Bang, bang, bang...

Dh just made me laugh, he sent bump a message saying it was moving time and to start taking down the posters , he seems to think that his son has set my womb up as a student room with trainspotting posters, etc...

pleasechange · 11/06/2008 17:41

pregnantpenguin - my due date is 24 june and I wanted to start my official mat leave then.

I still don't have the brain capacity to work out whether I'm worse off it started on 22nd. They're paying me hol in lieu for the Monday, but does that mean I'm losing pay for the Sunday??

poppy34 · 11/06/2008 17:45

good question re clothes pregnantpenguin -us first timers need help. Friend said it was a bit like being 5 months pregnant after you've had lo -so you're in maternity clothes ,just not the hippo size ones (or is that just me )

goingfor3 · 11/06/2008 17:47

PregnantPenguin I put on 11kgs during my pregnancy and have already lost 23kgs but I still look about 6 moths pregnant! I know I only had baby 3 weeks ago but I feel like it will never go down!

goingfor3 · 11/06/2008 17:48

13 kgs not 23 kgs - wishful thinking on my part

bun2 · 11/06/2008 17:52

Hello everyone, back on after MW and reflexology appointment.

Apparently cramps are due to SPD all LO being so low in my pelvis. So annoying being so uncomfortable with no progress. Have a sweep booked for Monday.

Relexologist worked on getting me "primed" for labour and said that my cervix is favourable so it will be interesting to see what the MW says on Monday.

Re. clothes after - I looked 6 months preggers after DD1. Some of your maternity wear will be OK, otherwise you could try non-maternity smock-top type things. You could try hipster trousers that fit under bump/scar if you can't face your maternity trousers. I went out and bought a couple of pairs of cheapish trousers a size or two bigger to see me through. Depends on how much weight you have put on. If you are like me and have really piled the weight on it will obviously take longer. Loose shirts/blouses are quite a good idea too - esp. if breast feeding.

Hope this helps a little.

poppy34 · 11/06/2008 17:55

I have put on a scary amount.. don't want to think about it.

pleasechange · 11/06/2008 17:58

poppy - me too - I haven't weighed myself since 6 months when I'd put on 2 stone. Must have clocked up 4 by now

poppy34 · 11/06/2008 18:03

allnew - I am not that far behind you I reckon..have also given up on scales (scary thing is it all seems to have been since about week 25). That said have known of people who put on 4 stone plus and lost it after pretty qucik..am holding onto fact that there is no such thing as normal/average gain or loss

bun2 · 11/06/2008 18:05

I could barely look at the scales when I was weighed last week. I put on 4 stone last time and think I must have put on 3 or 3 1/2 this time at least.

I did lose 2 stone quite quickly last time though.

libralady · 11/06/2008 18:08

All this talk about putting on weight

I've only put on a 1lb! @ 37+1

Lost loads to start with and although I've put that back on, I've only added and extra 1lb.

poppy34 · 11/06/2008 18:11

libralady -just goes to show we're all different.

Amberc · 11/06/2008 18:20

!!!!!!!!!!! Libralady - how can that be???? I haven't gone near scales since I knew I was preggers. Thought there was no point as it would depress me. Probably a stone more than I wanted to be before I got pregnant - am still hoping breast feeding is a miracle fat remover like liposuction which will remove all fat deposited during pregnancy and some of that which was deposited before!
