rolf - just say your thread on homeopathy - but I'm not posting there! My community midwife is extremely supportive of homeopathy and I have been using arnica and kali phos since Fraser's birth and I really do think it's helping (especially the kali phos) (and I could care less if it's just a placebo effect, I'm feeling way better than after DS1's birth so that's what matters). Anyways, hopefully it wont be an issue for you at the hospital, I did kind of hide the fact that I was taking it while I was there (kept pills in drawer) and there wasn't time to take it in labour...

debinaustria · 11/06/2008 08:15

Welcome home Ernest, so pleased that Adele has settled down now, even if she's awake from 2-5, will call you later.

needahand - good luck

Anyone heard from Emotionalwreck?

How are you DLM - anything happening?

Rolf - my buddy - how are you?

Nothing happening here, slept really well though last night, update on trying to get labour started methods - sex doesn't work either

Off shopping now

dylansmumplusone · 11/06/2008 08:53

i'm still here. after all that action all day yesterday - nothing last night. arrrrggghhhhhh!

needahand sounds very promising, good luck today! i was really hoping to have him today as it's my sis' bday and would have been a nice present but alas, he's not deemed us worthy for his presence just yet.

systemsaddict sounds like you might be getting going too! looks like the illness may have worked to your advantage a little at least.

i am very .

ernest glad you're home, sorry the epi was so rotten but so happy you've got your happy healthy girl now! i feel kind of sorry for every boyfriend she'll ever (try to) have with 3 older brothers!!

PregnantPenguin · 11/06/2008 09:01

Welcome back Ernest - sorry about your epidural and feeding probs. Fantastic that it's all ok now and that you're all back home as a family together. Lucky Adele, three brothers! How cool would that have been growing up?

Needahand - How exciting! We're all going to be chcking this thread even more than normal HB's have no excuse for not posting within seconds of giving birth! I'm only joking everyone! (I'd only risk that on this thread...)

Sybil - Thinking of you too - Good Luck.

Deb - I agree, sex didn't work for me last night! (Altho it was fun trying! ) So far, RLT = no, pineapple = no, curry = no, sex = no, shouting at him to get out of my belly = no.... May try nipple stimulation today .

SA - That sounds like you were there and then poor DS... maybe when he's completely back to normal and your maternal need to look after him has gone your contractions start again.

Essie - Are you still here or did things carry on yesterday?

Emotionalwreck - Hope that you are cuddling your little one right now and that you will be able to update us soon.

Good Luck everyone in labour and to the rest of us who want to be!!!

Those of you that have your little ones, wishing you lots of sleep and cuddles! Please feel free to post as many photos as you like, I can't get enough baby photos at the mo!

ktpie · 11/06/2008 09:03

needahand - good luck!

Systemaddict - hope your cervix is starting to do it's thing.

Ernest - congratulations on the birth of Adele, any pics yet?

Debs - have fun shopping.

No news from me, slept pretty well but that is it (how exciting is my life now!)

PearTart · 11/06/2008 09:18

PP- LOL at shouting at your belly, so glad it's not just me then!
"This is big mother- you are being evicted!"

Oh Lord, I am so fed up! Feeling your pain Dylan'smum- we were expecting an announcement, sniff!

I have 2hours, 40mins of free time whilst my busy bug is in nursery this am so I'm off into town- stomping all the way. Please let something happen... [desperate emoticon]

PregnantPenguin · 11/06/2008 09:22

PT - I have used exactly the same phrase...[blush}

Rolf · 11/06/2008 10:13

Oooh, good luck needahand. Dylansmum hope things crank up for you today. deb - so pleased you are updating me on tried-and-failed induction techniques. I really don't feel like trying Ingestion Method so you're feedback has legitimised my lack of action .
SA go cervix go!.
AH - that homeopathy thread got awfully arsy didn't it? I've stopped looking at it now. I thought it was a perfectly calm and sensible question but some silly girl responded as though I was flinging my tiara at her . Glad you're finding the remedies helpful. I've found them useful in the past and certainly intend to give them a shot.

Ernest - welcome back and more congratulations . Lovely name (feel a proprietorial interest in it - unjustifiably I know but the illusions is making me happy!). Sorry about the horrible epidural but I'm glad you and Adele have got over it now. Good on your DH being so marvellous! And hope your mother and stepfather don't drive you too potty. 3 big brothers is brilliant. My DD's main redeeming feature is having 2 big brothers - it's what stops her being utterly impossible and princessy!

bun2 · 11/06/2008 10:41

Good morning all. Just a quick one to say good luck needahand.

Still feeling very crampy here - seeing MW later so will ask her advice. Also got very sore boob - red and extremely tender.

Will check in again later.

good luck all.

Amberc · 11/06/2008 10:53

Good luck needahand and everyone else who is having signs/contractions!! Nothing from me other than the same horrid goo that's been escaping since I had that last sweep (sorry TMI).

I am extremely jealous as it's my due date today and i've already had 5 emails and two texts asking if anything is happening yet which is driving me mental. Nice of people to have remembered though. Also DP keeps going on at me to hurry up because he wants his time off which is REALLY bugging me. He said he might start from Monday whatever happens which is annoying as I want him there when the baby is born to help and support me for as long as possible not before when I don't need him. Grrrr .

Still at least it's cool today.

LauraT · 11/06/2008 10:56

ernest congratulations... so glad you picked Adele, as it was one of my suggestions! [smug emoticon] I'm sure my friend will be strangely pleased to know there's a LO in Germany with her name! glad to hear things are going well now, hope the relatives aren't too stressful!

needahand sorry we didn't miss you - it wasn't personal hope everything is getting going now and the pool is full!

I have had a delivery today... of a tumble drier and a changing unit from John Lewis! think it's the only one I'm likely to get in the next week or so though!

I had something witty and entertaining to say, but my mind has gone completely blank...

LauraT · 11/06/2008 10:58

sorry, should have said a LO in Germany who shares the same name as her - it's your DDs name now too!

Essie3 · 11/06/2008 10:59

Penguin still here and nothing happening really. I keep thinking imagining things though! MW appointment today, will attempt to get her to move things along . Yeah, right... I can see myself joining an overdue pact with you, PP!

Gosh, lots of babies coming today!

ErnestTheBavarian · 11/06/2008 11:12

Aw thanks everyone. Really keeping things crossed for you all.

Adele really is a cutie - she's got quite a lot of dark, short hair, and as she's a bit early - slightly furry ears and shoulders - my little guinea pig. I'll try to post pics later

fungle · 11/06/2008 11:13

Good luck ladies in labour!!!
Got a social day here today, freinds round for lunch, then thinking pedicure?? Grooming myself this week. A freind told me that just before she went into labour she had had her hair done, manicure etc. Its worth a go eh...and at least I'll have pretty toes and hair.
Im running out of things to wash and clean, obsessed!

bitofadramaqueen · 11/06/2008 11:19

Congrats Ernest - looking forward to seeing photo's later!

Good luck everyone having symptoms/signs etc - hope to hear good news from you soon.

Josey - how are things with Olivia? Hope you and your family all coping ok.

Nothing much to report here I'm afraid. Are the others that aren't due till later in the month feeling as dull as I am in the midst of all this show/signs/labour activity?

The good news is that I'm MUCH cooler today so have had a fairly productive morning so far! fungle you've inspired me to go and make a hair appointment...

Amberc · 11/06/2008 11:38

bitofadramaqueen I am feeling dull in the midst of no signs - I've been on maternity leave for 9 weeks now due to SPD and I am going slowly mad! Especially as the MW said I would never make it to due date (today) - never trust a midwife!!!

pleasechange · 11/06/2008 11:45

bitofadramaqueen - yes, I am. Not due until 24 June so 2 weeks to go or maybe even 4! Feeling a bit left out of all the action others are seeing. This lo is showing no signs of moving.

Sooo uncomfortable in bed last night - my left hip was in agony all night and at one point cried out loud due to sudden excruciating cramp down the back of my leg. DH woke up thinking I was in labour!

I'm not bored at home exactly, but feel like I should be doing more around the house. Don't have the energy though, and so feel like a slob.

amberc - hopefully your time will come soon

Congrats to ernest!

sophiewd · 11/06/2008 11:50

Morning all

Ernest lovely name, I have 3 older brothers and it was great growing up with them.

Good luck to all who are having contractions, we could have a flurry on her in the next couple of days.

I have done all my chores this morning, DH is painting DD's room as we may have to use it this Thursday, so going to take her swimming this afternoon.

Have a good day.

Amberc · 11/06/2008 11:52

Saying I don't have any signs, just been to loo and I have ahem 'the runs' which I am sure I have read somewhere is a good sign?? Or maybe it was my Thai beef salad I made last night...

systemsaddict · 11/06/2008 11:52

All still going v. slowly here - contractions getting distinctly longer and more painful but still a LONG way apart. This is OK because we have a gap in our childcare contingency plans until 4.30, turns out all five of my people are variously busy before then, after that all is straightforward - so let's hope there's no waters breaking / sudden urge to push scenario before then, or dp will have to pull one of his staff out of work and as they're all young men in their 20s, not ideal for dealing with fractious toddler! Mind you it's all such a gentle increase in pace I'll probably still be here with ongoing contractions on Friday ... Off to rest now - if movement speeds it up, rest must slow it down, right?!

Oh and have to decide whether to keep consultant's appt this afternoon to discuss induction date - will ring and check with them later but tempted to cancel under the circs.

Amberc · 11/06/2008 12:00

systemsaddict What do the contractions feel like and how painful are they? So exciting - a live labour!!

poppy34 · 11/06/2008 12:01

ernest congratulations on birth of adele. Lovely name.

Rolf - lurked for a bit on your homepathy thread but you're right got too arsey. My mw (before she told me she wouldnt be there!!) was very pro homeopathy and actually went through blow by blow suggesting variosu things to take.

If only she could suggest something to speed things up - am adopting fungle's approach as had pedicure adn off to get hair cut later.

then to do frantic bouncing on birth ball whilst drinking raspberry leaf tea.. draw teh line at nesting though.

Hope things progress nice and smoothly SA

ktpie · 11/06/2008 12:36

DQ - I'm due the same day as you and I'm feeling dull too! All the excitement of everyone else having action makes me think something is going to happen to me soon, but in reality we still have 11 days to go before our due dates!

allnew - my bed has become one of the least comfortable places for me, makes me get up in the morning because my back hurts, not because I don't want to lie in! The sofa is equally bad, birthing ball is most comfortable but not so good for sleeping or relaxing on!
Know what you mean about doing more round the house, am currently sat in the spare room surrounded by stuff that needs sorting out, tried to do some of it yesterday but just made more mess.

SA - hope the contractions fit in with the child care!

I have a little baby sparrow in my yard which the neighbours cat had caught and taken into their house this morning. It looks OK and it's mum is around and has been feeding it. Means I can't go out in the yard and more importantly can't hang my washing out! Not sure what to do as it can't fly and our yard is probably the safest place for it, but it is going to be disturbed when DH gets home and drags his bike through.

PiggyPenguin · 11/06/2008 12:59

Hey everyone, lovely name Ernest, and good luck to systemaddicts for the labour pains.

Well my pains carried on throughout the night but uncomfortable rather than painful really. At 6.30 I had a show of bright red blood and then another at 8 so called the midwife to check that was ok. She came out at 9.30 to check me and I was fully effaced and 2cm dilated. I am slowly building up the contractions and they are around 5 mins apart and painful but not agonising. I suspect I have a while to go but dh is blwoing up the pool as we speak...

I'll try to keep you posted!
