still on iPod. Yes I have been eating lots today.pizza at lunch millionaires shortbread mid afternoon. Moussaka this evening. Contemplating a magnum now.

Think I am beginning to win with the flies!

Rolf · 13/06/2008 21:17

Congratulations Needahand. Look forward to hearing your birth story.

Essie3 · 13/06/2008 21:21

Ok, thanks people. I can't imagine I'm in the throes of labour just yet (although I'm a lucky woman if I am ) but quite uncomfortable. Like you Amber painful when I get them, but they're not really regular.

I think I'll have a Gu chocolate pud. That will help matters.

Amberc · 13/06/2008 21:26

mine are regular now and hurt. Reading tens machine instructions but worried they could stop as quickly as they started! Now also got bloody mucus discharge, If false labour does it harm the baby to put on tens machine?

PearTart · 13/06/2008 21:27

You Guys!
I'm getting extremely of all the lovely food talk!

sophiewd · 13/06/2008 21:27

Good luck Amber

PearTart · 13/06/2008 21:29

Amber- how regular
real ones do hurt and you have to kind of concentrate through them...
TENS won't harm the baby- it doesn't go that deep- just confuses your pain signals to make things feels easier

Amberc · 13/06/2008 21:36

have been every 7-8 mins for 2.5 hours but am just going to start using that proper timer thingy someone sent round. First time so dunno what i'm doing just keep thinking they'll go again and not sure whether to ring the MW or not!! Last one 7 mins 40 secs and lasted 57 secs - it's good that timer innit?!

Parofleurmapu · 13/06/2008 21:39

Evening all and congratulations to al new babies nearly all of which were born on my actual due date!!!

Fleur and I are doing really well, She was weighed today and has gained 200g since birth which im chuffed about. However hardly any of her clothes fit her !!!! she has about 6 bodysuits 1 t shirt 1 trousers 6 socks and 4 sleepsuits that actually fit her!!! She is still very good at feeding and feeds every 3 hrs. We had our first meal out yesterday we went to a restaurant and had lunch i even managed to breast feed Fleur without revealing too much to fellow diners!!!!

By the way ill swap ants, woodlice and fruit flies for cockroaches!!!!

Watching Holland game obviously and Dp is dressed in orange and so is Fleur!!

PearTart · 13/06/2008 21:43

Established labour is officially from every 6 mins- at that point you phone the hospital and tell them.
other signs of true labour:-
contrx get longer, stronger & closer together
they don't go away when you change position/ walk around
pain is in the low back as opposed to lower abdomen

good luck and I'm envious!

Amberc · 13/06/2008 22:00

in agony now. fuck me!!

Amberc · 13/06/2008 22:00

in agony now. fuck me!! Hope this isn't constipation.

debinaustria · 13/06/2008 22:06

Congratulations Lorettah and Needahand

Glad you're winning the battle Allipalli

Due date buddies - anyone heard from Mellymell, last I heard she was going for a brisk walk!!

Also not heard from emotionalwreck have we?

I'm feeling very left out here as they don't seem to do sweeps here(well they do v expensive chimney sweeps but I don't think he would do the same job, that brush would be might tickly!!) Today at the hospital was the 1st time this pregnancy that anyone medical actually touched my stomach( and that was the scary sonographer from the other week) - it's all very clinical and not hands on. The Gynaecologist never touched my stomach but he did do internals most visits and checked cervix - since last seeing him 6 weeks ago I've no idea what my cervix is doing!!

debinaustria · 13/06/2008 22:08

x posted - how are you doing Amber? Sounding good to me!!

Rolf · 13/06/2008 22:31

Mellymel may be gone some time . Wonder how she's getting on?

Don't worry Deb, I'm still with you and no sign of anything happening. I'm convinced this baby isn't going to come out without help. Naturally, I'm handling it with grace and dignity . I'd give the chimney sweep a go if I were you. Not even an Austrian chimney sweep could touch my cervix . Is Dylansmum still around too?

Amber - I still covet your ripe cervix and contracting uterus. Lots of nice deep breathing...(now your turn!).

I was looking at digital cameras in Costco yesterday and realised how very old ours is. It's about 4 times the size of these new-fangled ones. Does anyone have any recommendations? A rather hunted-looking DH v sweetly suggested that it might be a nice present for me (to "cheer me up and give me something to do while I'm waiting"). v idiot-proof with short shutter-delay (my main bugbear with ours).

debinaustria · 13/06/2008 22:50

HI Rolf, I'm so pleased you're keeping me company!!

I have the Which best buy report e-mailed to me from Whinegums(I think, sorry, terrible pregnancy brain) I can e-mail it to you, or e-mail me 1st, debs at austrianfamilyholidays dot co dot uk

Still haven't bought one though so we have a camera fastened together with black electrical tape in my hospital bag which makes a strange clicking sound on video mode!!

LOL at the chimney sweep not being able to reach your cervix

I was telling my Mum about all these people on MN having sweeps but I couldn't think of the right word - all that came into my head was scratch and sniff!!!! She thought it was hilarious!!! Maybe that's wehre we're going wrong eh Rolf?

whinegums · 13/06/2008 23:00

Oooh, Amber, it's about an hour since your last post... Wonder if it has really kicked off for you.

Rolf/Deb yes, twas me who emailed the Which report. I have just bought a Samsung NV11 - Play.com had it for only £99 (I posted about it a little while ago, along with a code for another £5 off) and I'm well chuffed with it. I had an earlier version of the NV for work, which cost £250 when I got it, and I was pleased with it. For £99 it's an absolute bargain - think RRP is at least £200. Easy to use, and seems shutter delay is pretty short.

debinaustria · 13/06/2008 23:04

Whinegums - I do intend to buy one, just got to persuade dh !!!!!!

Amber - good luck

Off to bed here, as it's midnight. Ds1 says now I've seen him in his play I can zoom off to the hospital tonight. It's a nice thought but I don't think this baby will be appearing soon!!

Night all, sleep well

debinaustria · 14/06/2008 04:13

I'm awake , anyone else? Nothing happening here

Amber - how are you? No more posts so I hope things are progressing nicely and you soon have baby in your arms, only a little that you're jumping the queue!

Allipalli - anything happening with you as yet? How are the flies?

Rolf, DLM, Mellymel - how are you all today? Any signs or symptoms?

spongebrainbigpants · 14/06/2008 04:20

Morning all - 11th June was a bit of a busy day on the birth front! Congrats needahand, sounds like it was a lovely birth in the water too, am very .

Anyway, my turn to have a feeling forgotten moment as all the talk of impending births didn't mention me! LO will be making an appearance today - nothing can stop that now!

Despite my very best efforts, including an hour long walk yesterday which was v uncomfortable with my SPD and swollen feet, nothing has happened and I will be in hospital in 4 hours for induction.

I have very mixed feelings about this - partly very excited about meeting my little boy, but also disappointed that I won't be able to have my natural water birth that I really wanted. The whole process of conceiving our son was so clinical and medicalised and I was really hoping to avoid needles and doctors in the labour room but c'est la vie.

Looks like there's a couple of people joining me in labour this weekend so a few lucky dh's getting the best Father's Day pressie in the world!

Good luck everyone!

spongebrainbigpants · 14/06/2008 04:21

Morning deb, didn't notice you were up too!

babs10000 · 14/06/2008 04:25

acupunture or a shiat su massage - brought on 2 labours with me!

debinaustria · 14/06/2008 04:28

Morning Sponge - I can imagine how you must be feeling after what you've gone through, but on the other hand how exciting, soon you'll be a Mummy!!!!

I'm due to be induced on Thursday if nothing happens before then, I also wanted a water birth for my last baby but it wasn't meant to be
