Gosh, just seen, -4 all on the same day! Big warm congratulations to - Harry
Sybilvimes, Kif , Lazylou & systemaddict.

& Lorrettah too, don't go slipping through the net Wish you all a wonderful snuggly time with the new babies

ErnestTheBavarian · 13/06/2008 16:39

oops, more of a welcome to Harry, James & Caitlin & the 2 boys yet to be named, not congrats. doh!

Rolf · 13/06/2008 16:40

Congratulations Lorettah! Lovely name! Sorry about the bfeeding. I was ff and am marvellous!!

I had a call from one of the (tactful) community midwives and she was lovely. She's coming to see me on Monday and suggested writing a new birthplan to cover induction, which I've just done and feel so much happier. It was exactly what I needed to do - pen, paper lists. I've done one saying no to practically everything and feel much less at sea. She's also going to have a word with the nice-but-tactless mw and tell her to stop using The Phrase.

Hope the ants/fruit flies go soon. We get lots of ants each year (need to get some repointing done) and they always end up getting into the house. I used a line of chalk to stop them encroaching further into the kitchen but hard-core poison to kill the bastards.

Essie - have you had any luck planning babycare whilst you're giving your lecture?

PregnantPenguin · 13/06/2008 16:40

Thanks for that KTpie.

I wasn't BF! And I'm great.

sophiewd · 13/06/2008 16:45

Ernest Thursday in Dorchester

LauraT · 13/06/2008 17:11

Congratulations to the new arrivals, what lovely stories and names all round!

I'm only 38+1 so not even the slightest bit of action here, but it's so nice to hear that things are reaching a crescendo on the thread - the babies are coming in one after the other now!

makecakes nice to hear you're doing so well, good luck with the move!

Rolf how does a line of chalk stop ants? very intrigued! I have visions of one turning to the next one and saying " we've reached the border boss, time to turn back" or something!

looneytune · 13/06/2008 17:18

Hi all

CONGRATULATIONS to all who've had babies since I was last on

Do we know how Josey is getting on?

Also....last I saw of needahand, she was timing contractions and said next time she'd be on, she should have a baby. Any news from her?

PiggyPenguin · 13/06/2008 17:45

Congratulations to Kif and Lazylou. Great birth story Systemsaddict, well done to you and Caitlin Rose is a fabulous name.

Essie3 · 13/06/2008 17:49

Hello all, congratulations to the stack of people who have just had babies! Would have posted earlier but I got caught up in the shitting elf thread...

Rolf well, DH has been very apologetic indeed about it all. I'm trying to remain strong and nasty, but do feel for him a bit - it's a 3 day trial and he doesn't get them that often. However, he'd be against a litigant in person so it may well settle. You busy ? Or your DH ? Don't worry, we'll figure something else but grr at barristers who leave things to the last minute before committing!! Glad you're feeling better btw. I've been really angry on your behalf since I read about your stupid MW.

Penguin - {waves}. Anything happening with you? Those who know about these things, I've been feeling odd all day today. Lower back is agony - hasn't been this bad ever before - but I also have a strange lower bump pain. It comes and goes - and it feels like maybe wind, or needing a poo (and no, I'm not dressed as an elf or anything like that). No show and no waters. Baby's not wiggling much either. I really am totally clueless!

Old wives around here say Wednesday is my day anyway, because it's a full moon. I reckon my waters may well break spectacularly on Sunday night, because we're getting a new mattress (finally) delivered on Sunday morning. Perhaps we'll leave the plastic on it...

Rolf · 13/06/2008 18:20

LOVE the shitting elf thread!

Essie - I'm not busy and would love to look after your baby, but will be in Liverpool which isn't helpful! DH won't know till last minute if he'll be in London or not. If he is he'd be able to push your baby around Lincoln's Inn (if you trust him...) but typically won't be able to commit till last minute. I do hope your DH's trial settles (so difficult with litigants in person anyway) but I know how stressful it is not knowing. DH was told today that he has until next week to send 2 skeleton arguments to the CA, so he'll have to work over the weekend. My in-laws are having the weekend off so looks like I'll be on my own. It's the big downside of the job isn't it? I keep reminding myself of the plusses when I look at the lovely new attic!

poppy34 · 13/06/2008 18:29

hi all just trying to catch up.. congrats to all those who have just hatched.

whinegumsthanks for genius aibu thread... rofl laughing.. Reminds me of another classic that I kept to make me laugh

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/5001/115727

Have had 3 days with broken computer which was unfortunate as co incided with period of climbing walls with frustration at nonapparance of lo. Feeling bit better ... off to eat pineapple and drink rlt before trying to get through thread later.

needahand · 13/06/2008 18:29

Hi all

Just a qucik one from me. Haven't had time to catch up on the thread yet. My Ds (can't put his full name as it is very unusual and that would out me in real life) let's call him SJ was born at home on Wednesday at 16.30 in the afternoon in the pool. Birth at home was wonderful and we are both well. He measures 48 cms and weight 8lb 4. I am a bit knackered though as since I had the bug last weekend I haven't slept more than 2 hours per night (last night in stretches of one hour as he was feeding all the time). Full birth story to follow soon.

Good luck to all for whom it is still to come.

I am absolutely besotted though he is sooooo cute. Can't believe he is here at last.

looneytune · 13/06/2008 18:34

Oh needahand, many congrats!! Can't wait to hear how the birth went. I'm still undecided about birthing in the pool but certainly hope to labour in it.

Hi to everyone else, hopefully catch up properly soon x

Amberc · 13/06/2008 19:15

Wow loads of babies! Congrats all.

I am having the exact same pains as Essie - like you have an intense need for a poo - all located in lower back. Back to one every seven minutes again like I had in the night (which stopped after 2 hours). Are these contractions - I haven't got a scooby! I can't feel my abdomen tightening just the pains.

bun2 · 13/06/2008 19:19

Essie and AmberC keep an eye on those pains and keep timing them. If they are real labour you will know soon enough - may be warming up for the real thing. Real labour pains will stop you in your tracks and you will need to breathe through them.

Good luck and fingers crossed!

Amberc · 13/06/2008 19:21

I did have the harshest ever sweep yesterday!!!

bun2 · 13/06/2008 19:21

And congratulations to all of you who have had babies. Great birth stories - very encouraging, thanks for sharing.

Sending hugs.

bun2 · 13/06/2008 19:22

Really - my sweep is booked for Monday AM. Maybe your cervix is springing into action. What did your MW say?

Amberc · 13/06/2008 19:25

it's the same as it hs been for the other two sweeps - admits a finger (i.e. 1cm) softening, central. Nothing more interesting!

sophiewd · 13/06/2008 19:32

PearTart · 13/06/2008 20:03

Congrats to Lorettah on the birth of Harry and Needahand on the birth of SJ.

Essie & Amber- could be pre-labour tightenings. You will know when it's a contraction, I really hope it's all happening. Esp after all the sweeps Amber!

I'm also in the ant-club. We have teeny weeny anticles coming in somewhere through the French windows. Need to get a proper carpenter but it'll have to be after NB (whenever that is). We just have to hoover up the victims every evening!

I still have a horrid locked-up low back that's making me limp (thanks everyone for kind comments) but am in better spirits since having a reflexologist come to the house.
The treatment was v relaxing and she mixed some essential oils that are supposed to help induce labour. She also did a visualisation to picture the cervix opening and the baby like a treasure inside the uterus. something made me cry and I realised what is was that I'm scared of. I think that really helped.

Amberc · 13/06/2008 20:14

Yeah it's about time these sweeps did something other than give me gooey shows! When I get the pains they f8cking hurt but aren't regular enough to be real labour I don't think. Will just have to put up with it. Maybe tomorrow (the day I did not want to go into labour!! Sod's law eh?).

For those with ants - my mum had indoor ants. They were much smaller than regular ants and they were caled Pharaoh Ants. I wonder if these are the same.

Polyxene · 13/06/2008 20:24

(Hello, just popping over from the MK and July clubs)

needahand Oooh, many congratulations"!!! I have been haunting this thread since you said you thought things were kicking off, so lovely to hear your good news So glad you were able to get your home birth, and hope you can catch up a bit on sleep soon.

And best wishes to all the others here who have had new arrivals or are still waiting

Polly xx

sophiewd · 13/06/2008 20:36

I will swap you your ants for our woodlice

whinegums · 13/06/2008 20:46

Congratulations to all the new mums. I wonder if we'll get a rush next week if it is a full moon on Wednesday. Amber and Essie, you next p'raps? And where is Deb?

The elf thread gets better. I remember the pirate thread as well - thanks for reminding me! A good laugh is what we all need (and not a DP who keeks his pants!).

I don't know what's been going on with me today, I haven't stopped eating. Is anyone else finding this? I have been hoovering up everything in sight - most of it cake/chocolate based I hate to admit!
