Got to try that donutmum. Need to eat them now! If I wasn't feeling so sick! Think will talk to mw about necessity of iron tablets, as they might give me more energy (not noticed any yet!) but the nausea is awful.

I put my own toenail polish on last week - it was a real struggle, and maneged very badly. I had to put on a pail neutral colour so that the lack of precision was not noticeable! Shaved my legs this morning, but could only really manage the RHS of both. looking quite odd now!

EEC · 15/06/2008 09:58

Can't believe how many typos I made... managed, pale.....

disneystar · 15/06/2008 10:01

eec i projectile vomit when im on ferrous sulphate

my iron levels are 6.3 and i complained so much to the mw they gave me iron ijections in the end much better

isaidno · 15/06/2008 10:03

So, are we going to have any father's day babies on this thread?
I'm still sticking with twinkle as next.

sweetkitty · 15/06/2008 10:04

Anyone else had a baby in the night?

Not much to report here hopefully rain will stay away and we will get out in the garden.

I still need to get
moses basket and cot mattress
pram

think thats about it although I was looking wistfully at slings last night, like the look of the huggababy although I do have a rind sling in the Coorie already maybe I should just learn to actually use it

sweetkitty · 15/06/2008 10:06

disney - I seriously cannot believe your iron levels are that low and you are OK, they need to sort them out before the birth. Mine are always about 12.6, 12.8 I think under 11 or 12 they start to worry and put you on iron tabs. I remember a friend was on anti cancer drugs and her iron was about 8 and she felt ghastly, get onto thos MWs.

Had to go look up iron in pregnancy (think it's the scientist in me) apparently 10 is the magic number, below 10 it increases the risk of PPH and homebirth is not recommended. Also below 10 pregnant women are recommended to have supplements, Floradix will raise iron levels a point in a week apparently.

All to do with our increase in blood volume during pregnancy but most womens bodies cope with it fine.

I always take a antenatal multivit (have done for 5 years now) when pregnant or BFing or ttc as I'm veggie and probably don't get enough iron in my diet normally.

Hiya jules nice to see you, think that little girl of yours just likes being the right way up good luck with the consultant.

EEC iron can make you feel sick have you tried Floradix the liquid stuff? looks like plant food you can buy it from health food shops many people find it has fewer side effects.

According to my maternity notes the low level for HB is 11 they often do not treat until 10.5 according to the midwife unless Mums are symptomatic.

Minkus · 15/06/2008 12:13

Congratulations minipink- what a lovely little lady, and such a good weight for a 35 weeker! Must confess I'm a bit {envy] I WANT MY LABOUR TO RESTART TOO!!!!!

Disney I do hope you're right in that I'm one of the next to pop!

Luckily I've not had any problems with iron levels, must be hard if you're feeling even more tired than normal pg because of it.

Really enjoyed the bday party we went to last night, ds was up until 11 dancing at the disco and playing on the bouncy castle with all the big boys and girls. It was a really lovely family party and it was nice to feel like I had a social life for a couple of hours!

Bump really tight and ouchy again though prob cos I stood up quite a lot and I'm sooooo not used to that

Hope everyone with dp's and children has a lovely fathers say- we are off out for lunch in a nice local hotel where they have arranged some activities for the children so hopefully dh should get a bit of peace and quiet. Ds made him a lovely card at nursery the said "Why I love my daddy..." on the front and inside a quote from him saying "because he carries me on his shoulders" and dh nearly cried when he opened it.

Have a good day all xxxx

CilC · 15/06/2008 12:13

I may need to start a new thread here as I have no idea about the law... but thought I would share my latest adventure, just to make those of you feeling low, perhaps feel a bit better!
A typical day for me lately....we take DH out for brunch for Father's Day. Waitress arrives and manages to drop scalding hot coffee which smashes at the feet of my DD and of course me!
We go to toilets quickly to run cold water on DD's feet. I can not access any cold water and despite a hovering waitress who keeps saying sorry she ignores my repeated request for cold water also as I can not access basin.
Finally DH puts cold wet towels on foot and i hobble back to seat.
I then ask waitress if she could finally give DD her gingerbread man cookie so she is not so upset...to which she replies, I am sorry someone else sold it. But she assures us we do not hve to pay for it.
I lose it and reply (ok maybe yell) - of course we bloody don't have to pay for it we have not eaten anything.

DH asks for manager's name and they refuse. Another staff member finally gives us the details on a card.

We leave...

DD ok thank goodness and DH and her are now making gingerbread men. I have removed porcelin splinter out of my foot and blisters have begun. DD and my clothes are covered in coffee - do we ask them to clean them?

Anyway that was my morning... we are now going to plant up some grow bags in garden with aubergine, cucumbers and courgettes. Sun is shinning and I am desperate to be positive! Have decided to observe from afar but wish me luck!

Polyxene · 15/06/2008 12:50

Thanks for everyone's kind words about yesterday! CilC, yes that's it exactly: DH either leaves me facing the wall/in corners or has to just abandon me in the middle of a shop to run after and retrieve DS from causing mayhem - not his fault at all but makes me feel bad and embarrassed when I am in people's way. I now have much more appreciation and understanding of the difficulties faced by people who use wheelchairs all the time.

Anyway, even though I only got about 4 hours sleep on and off last night, we all managed to get up in time for church this morning, and I am feeling a lot cheerier so far today ;-)

Got DH to trim my toenails last night - he managed fairly well, considering... I'd like to have my toenails painted as well, but he looked like he really didn't fancy that idea!

Haven't got anything arranged for father's day - but then I didn't even get a card for my first two mother's days, so I don't think I need to feel too bad about that! (DH did manage to pick up a card and choccies in Tesco at the last minute this year, after I gave up hinting and said I actually wanted something!)

Hope everyone is having a good day - at least as well as can be expected in the circumstances!

Polly xx

Polyxene · 15/06/2008 12:57

Also, CilC - yes, absolutely they should pay for the clothes cleaning at the very least.

You should definitely make a proper complaint basically saying everything you have said here, including the bits where your requests for cold water and for the manager's name were refused. Never mind giving you their details, the manager should have come in person and tried to sort things out then and there.

What you should do right now is take photos of your blisters and where the splinter was. I think you would have a very good case for getting more compensation than just covering the clothes cleaning costs. (Disclaimer, I am not a lawyer, so hopefully someone else can give you better/ more specific advice. But it seems to me you could have a good threat of bad publicity against them in the local paper - pregnant woman in wheelchair plus young child scalded in local restaurant and Father's Day outing ruined! - so you'd have good leverage to get them to make some reparations!)

Trespass · 15/06/2008 13:39

Hi everyone, I haven't been on here for ages, even then it was only briefly but I love catching up with you all! I have to say, I only miss a few days and I have 15 pages to catch up on, so that's my next mission, going back to the begining of this new thread!! Thank you all so much tho, I feel like I'm reading a book about loads of different characters that I can really relate too, some excellent advice and reasurance too.

Congratulations Peanut, Tjuice and Minipink, makes it all so real to see the gorgeous photos! Hope mine stays in there a wee while longer tho, like many of you, I'm so not ready!!!

Any chance I can be added to the list please, due 14th July, surprise, live in France.

Thanks, off to catch up then,

Polyxene · 15/06/2008 13:43

By the way, when I say 'case' I'm not suggesting you actually take them to court! Far more hassle than you need at this point!! I just mean, write them a letter, emphasising you have actual injuries (blisters count as 3rd degree burns or something I think) and asking for (a) covering costs for clothes cleaning and (b) some additional compensation for injuries and emotional distress, plus the way you were treated at the time.

Think of it partly as a public service - by not letting this go you will discourage them from treating other people this way in future, and hopefully make them train staff better to deal with these situations more appropriately!

isaidno · 15/06/2008 16:04

Cilc - def complain very strongly; that is abominable treatment.

trespass - will add you to the list now.

just very quick post...just wanted to say congrats to minipink....gorgeous baby!
Well done....I have been dreaming about a labour like that!

Ah MINI she's so cute.. Interested to know, does she look like her 3D pictures? Can't really tell from your profile.... I WANT A BABY NOW.....

Cilc I'd definatly follow up a complaint to the manager (and cc the Head Office if it was a chain) I used to run bars/restaurants and my parents have done it for over 30 years and I would be so pissed off if I thought that any of my staff were treating customers in this way, so you'd be doing him/her a favour really.... Also ask for what ever you want, really push the boat out, that way you are in a good 'negotiating' position. I would at least expect the cleaning, but DEFINATLY take pictures NOW and again tomorrow, and again every day until they heal, just for back up.

DISNEY I can't believe you can cope with iron levels that low, mine were 11.2 and I felt like hell!!

Butterfly Don't ask me what I thought you'd look like, but it wasn't like that... Isn't it funny how you get an image... Your way too slim for how many kids you've produced!

She's gorgeous minipink, and I like the name Abbie Susan too.
